Fridge Brilliance

  • Marta is already horrifying as is. Then you read the notes that imply that she's expressed doubts about what she's doing, but Knoth keeps reassuring her that her murders are the "right" thing. If you listen to some of her dialogue with this in mind, it becomes not just the rantings of an Ax-Crazy woman, but someone who's trying to rationalize her actions.
  • Blake, Lynn and Jessica went to school at St. Sybil High School. There is no St. Sybil in the Catholic faith, but sybils were women in Ancient Greece who were said to possess prophetic powers. While it may be a coincidence, The Song of the Sybil is a Gregorian chant that, interestingly enough, describes the end of days and the judgment of the Antichrist.
  • Without getting too deep into the sheer absurdity of Blake escaping from crucifixion in the first place, note how the Scalled nail him through his palms rather than his wrists — logically, this would be easier to escape from. Similarly, they botch the later attempt to bury Blake alive and let him escape relatively easily. Laird speaks of the scalled Messiah overcoming these trials before they can kill him and eat his flesh, so they probably weren't putting much effort into it, until their final encounter.
  • "Oh Be Careful Little Eyes," sung by Father Loutermilch, is a threat:
  • The first game briefly mentions that the Morphogenic Engine made women experience phantom pregnancies, followed by death. It's quite possibly what happens to Lynn in the end.
