• "Whitey's on the Moon":
  • After the first episode ended with Atticus, George and Leti facing down racist murderers and monsters, they arrive, in shock and covered in the blood at the manor of the Braithwhites. How does the following episode open? With Ja'Net DuBois's "Movin' on Up" blaring as George and Leti happily laughing and dancing in their respective rooms, stocking up on books and trying on clothes respectively.
  • When Atticus talks to Christina and suggests that she, her family and the Sons of Adam are members of the Ku Klux Klan, she assures him that they would never fraternize with them... because the Klan is too poor.
• "Strange Case" shows us Ruby's priorities: while it helps that she's shape-shifted several times already, when it turns out William is really Christina under the effect of the potion, Ruby immediately switches from disgusted at the transformation to hopping mad that "You've been William this whole fucking time?"
