Mongul is a dicknote .

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

Comic Book version

  • A Gallows Humor moment in the original, Batman genetically engineered a new flower, a rose he called The Krypton, stating he's sure no one else would give Superman the same gift. When Jason sees Superman trapped by the flower-like Black Mercy, he asks Bats if he kept the receipt.
  • In the original:
Wonder Woman: Let's get inside before you two freeze.
Robin (pointing out her outfit): Before us two freeze? Dressed like that?
    Batman: Think clean thoughts, chum.
  • The Brick Joke of Wonder Woman's one-of-a-kind gift, a crystal reproduction of Kandor made by artisans on Paradise Island. Superman uses his super speed to hide the nearly-identical Kandor replica he already has as soon as he sees it.
  • When Jason Todd / Wonder Woman returns the Black Mercy to Mongul, the former in the comic, the latter in the animated version.
Jason / Wonder Woman: I believe this is yours...
    • Also counts as a CMoA.
  • Jason going to all the trouble to drag the Black Mercy up to where Superman and Mongul are fighting, only for them to take the fight back to the lower floor right before he gets there.
Jason: Aw no... And after I figured out how to get up here...
    • Also amusing is how Jason carries the Black Rose safely: he stuffs it in one of the gauntlets Mongul used to safely handle it, and then stuffs that into a garbage bag fashioned out of his cape. You can just imagine the indignant squawks.

Cartoon version

  • In the televised version.
Wonder Woman: Bruce, you didn't give him a gift certificate...
    Batman: (indignant) No... Cash.
    • Gets even funnier when you realize that Clark Kent earns a reporter's salary. The cash in that envelope might be more than Clark would usually earn in an entire year.
    • It's almost heartwarming as Wonder Woman's gift is certainly nice for Superman, but Batman's is explicitly for Clark.
  • Batman's first encounter with Mongul in the televised version.
Mongul: I suppose Superman told you all about our previous encounter.
Batman: You mean how he humiliated you?
    Mongul: A… jaundiced account.
