• The introduction to the Gemini Program has Deke Slayton drawing a scale diagram of the distance from Earth to the moon, which goes across two blackboards. Later, he is shown correcting the position of the moon.
  Deke: This is approximately to scale.
  [after the blackboard is corrected]
  Deke: ...approximately.
• After going through a three-axis simulator, Armstrong makes an emergency trip to the bathroom. When he's done, Ed White walks in, with the same queasy look, before running for the toilet. Afterwards, we cut back to the classroom where all of the astronauts have vomit stains on their shirts.
  • In that same scene, the rocket physics instructor says they will be going over "only the first chapter tonight." White opens his book and sees that said first chapter consists of 604 pages.
• This exchange between Janet and one of her sons towards the end of the film:
  Janet: Your dad's going to the Moon.
  Rick: Okay. Can I go play outside?
• A bit of black comedy: Janet snaps as Neil is preparing to leave for the moon and tells him he has to sit down and have a talk with their boys about the fact he may not come back from his mission. Neil responds to their questions exactly as he did during the press conference about the missions, and caps the discussion with "Any more questions?"
• While it's not meant to be funny, after they open the LEM door Neil and Buzz stare out for a moment, then look at each other with look that says "Whelp.... Here goes". For what is wildly considered one of the most momentous achievements in the human history, it's a bit of an Underwhelming reaction.
