Funny / Dave the Diver

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

Of course, a game like this is bound to have a good amount of funny jokes to it.

  • Dave is consistently made fun by people that you can't help but feel sorry for this guy, but you have to admit some of the jokes are a bit funny. It's even unintentional at times, such as being mistaken for a "blue manatee" by Tenzhin.
    • Suwam is intentional as he brings up Dave's name in Sea People language which means "broken toilet lid". Dave is understandably annoyed by the remark.
  • Dr. Bacon vomiting from too much drinking. After he drives away, you can still see the vomit floating in the ocean. Dave (rightfully annoyed) claims he doesn't want to dive after he did that.
    • What's worse (for Dave), John Watson uses this as one of the many reasons he's attacking Dave immediately after Dave jumps in.
  • One of the weapons Dave can find is a squeaky toy hammer. It deals a pathetic 1 damage and makes a comical "squeak" sound every time Dave swings it (though its ability to induce sleep on targets makes it a Lethal Joke Item).
    • You could also get a toy snake which actually does a decent amount of damage with a poison ailment. And then there's the rubber chicken which is somehow one of the strongest weapons in the game.
  • The animations that are played are pretty funny, especially with the VIPs' faces when they taste Bancho's dishes.
    • Yoshie's face and reaction when she tries the Shark Head dish is bound to get people laughing, what with the floating hearts surrounding her.
    • One of the funniest VIP animation moment is with Maki when she tastes the dish, the clione doll looks in front of the screen before proceeding to breakdance.
    • Vincent's face the first time he tries Bancho's dish. You can see the waves behind him that remind you of Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" alongside jellyfishes.
    • Another amusing animation is the one that plays when Dave asks Bancho to make coral edible for the Sea People. Dave unceremoniously presents Bancho with a damp sack. Bancho contemplates it for a moment before the scene suddenly cuts to him roaring at the top of his lungs as he furiously dices the coral while Dave watches on in coral-spatted awe.
    • There is a Mermaid Arc Emergence scene in one of the animations. It's given to Duff when he's testing out a new gun for Dave.
  • Calling Cobra while on the boat has him chide you for wasting phone minutes since he's directly next to you.
  • One of Bancho's Dish Enhancement animations has him sharpen his knife to the point it cuts through a falling cherry blossom petal like butter just on contact, much to the sheer dread of a fish in the tank behind him.
  • When infiltrating the Sea Blue base, Dave can come across some of their ration bars and eat one. Apparently the taste is so bad that Dave takes physical and psychological damage from eating it.
  • During the Glacial Area chapter, the Sea People Village Beluga goes missing and is temporarily replaced by a manatee. The kicker is that it's slower than Dave and still costs the usual 7 Bei until the Beluga comes back home.
  • During the ending sequence, Ramo and Suwam go up to the surface to see the fireworks, by the former's desire probably, Suwam's face is being worried someone will find them while Ramo is amazed by the fireworks.
