The Gyromite Arc

  • Dad thinking the title refers to Greek gyros.
  • R.O.B. has enough of the boys' incompetence with trying to remember where he came from.
    Have a flashback!!
  • This exchange:
Dad: You know what I always say, boys: "Give a Smick a turnip and it'll leave the Professor alone."
Ace: Yeah Dad, you have always said that. And it never really made any sense until now!
  • Ace's ignorance to how ROB's actions are hurting people.
  • The... "recap" of the last episode before the finale premiere.
  • "This is the best birthday ever!"
  • The outtakes for this arc are amazing in their own right, but special mention goes to all the variants of "PILLAR IS NOW BANNED FROM THIS HOUSEHOLD!"

Haunted Video Games

  • Ace is scared of some... rather strange media.
Ace: I play it all the time because I'm scared of the alternative.
    Chet: Skating?
Ace: Oh I haven't played it... *Slowly peers over at the video box*
(The camera suddenly zooms in on the box as the music gets louder)
(Cue Ace with a comically shocked face)
    • Baseball (whose box art features a man in a catcher's mask)...
Ace: And I thought Jason only played hockey!
Chet: Ace! What you could you possibly be scared of about this?
(Cut to the NES game, where Ernie faces the camera while lightning strikes and spooky music plays)

Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf

  • All throughout the episode the boys think there will be actual fighting at some point during the game, but end up leaving when it's nothing more than a simple golf game.
  • This also sets up some Foreshadowing for the next episode as Dad is left alone in the basement. He curiously picks up the NES controller... then shrugs before deciding to give the NES a try.

Jack Nicholson Golf note

  • This is a humorous A Day in the Limelight episode that features Dad and his "modest" bragging about his golfing knowledge.
  • Instead of the usual robot voice saying "Awesome Video Games!" Here it's:
    Computer! Entertainment! Related! Programming!
    • And...
    Awesome Video Golf!
  • When he enters his player name in he types "Dad Esq."
  • When Dad makes a swing in the game, he literally takes the NES controller and swings it as if he were holding an actual golf club.
  • Dad getting increasingly frustrated at how difficult video golf is to the real thing, to the point that not only does he wonder where his golf caddie is, but he also wonders where the martini boy is.
  • When he hears his sons coming back down into the basement he hastily ducks behind the couch so he doesn't get caught.

Dr. Mario

  • When Chet tells Ace that he's starting to feel sick, Dad bursts into the room calling Chet's name before doing a Skyward Scream... while ripping his jacket open.
    • The outtake/recap of this scene takes it to the extreme, with Dad pulling his jacket completely open while also giving a Big "NO!", causing everyone to laugh.
  • While Ace is playing the game to help cure Chet, Dad is seen applying many different types of medical wrappings to Chet's head while dressed as both a doctor, and then later on an ER surgeon.
  • When it seems as though Ace failed in getting rid of the viruses, when the camera pans over to Chet while a flatlining sound is heard, it's soon revealed that it was just Dad making the noise, and Chet promptly wakes back up in annoyance.
Dad: It looks like you're doing better, Chet! Well, I'm off to glee club!
Dad: Me me me meeee~! *While he's singing the same flatlining frequency plays over it*

Paper Boy

  • The entire time while Chet is out on his paper route, his run-ins and obstacles seem to exactly match what Ace is playing in the game during this whole time, as if he's unknowingly controlling Chet behind the scenes!
    • Even better, all of the "people" hazards on Chet's paper route look just like Dad, but in various different outfits.
  • In the outtakes at the end, when the boys are tossing the newspaper rolls around, Ace accidentally hits Chet in the eye with one

The Game Genie Arc

  • Just the general idea that Game Genie codes are used as an allegory for drugs. It's as hilarious as it is ridiculous.
  • The fact that whenever the cheats are running, their NES is emitting literal smoke into the room.
  • Cousin Lester calling Dad "Uncle Dad"
  • Lester confesses a hysterical incident during the climax where he talks about how he beat up a kid using his codes, took his bike, and then sold it to get more codes.
  • Dad's final remark to Lester, which also doubles as a Moment of Awesome.
Dad: Lester, I think it's time Dad takes out the trash! *Grabs Lester by his jacket*
Lesters: That's Ironic! *Gets furiously dragged off-screen*

The Nintenzone Arc

The Power Pad Arc

  • Chet is off to the side explaining the basics to World Class Track Meet while Ace does all the heavy lifting, tiring him out pretty quickly.
    • This comes to a head at the end of the first part where Ace stumbles and falls on his face while shouting "NINTENDO!"
    Chet: ...Great work, Ace!

  • Ace and Chet compete in a Turbo Match, and the loser has to take out the trash!
Dad: "Who's gonna win daddy's love?"
  • Ace's hilarious motions on the Power Pad have to be seen to believed.
  • The thrilling conclusions of Chariots of AWESOME, which ended in a draw, which begs the question "Who takes out the trash?"
Dad: Boys, I've decided that you can BOTH take out the trash!
Chet: Looks like this is turning into a World Class TRASH Meet!
Dad: Hahahah, very funny... TAKE OUT THE TRASH!!!
  • During their Aerobics workout, Ace and Chet are ready for their second routine. Cue the pixel instructor suddenly doing some highly improbable stretches while the boys look on in Stunned Silence.

Bad Dudes

  • Dad, upon hearing the boys talk about "attitude and bad-itude," shoehorning himself in with a pun.
Dad: Did someone say DAD-ITUDE? *Cue him accidentally knocking over some games on a shelf with his arms*
  • While Ace and Chet are playing the game, they suddenly get a phone call from a man who claims to be working for the Government. The boys hilariously just refer to this man as "The Government himself."
  • Dad's insane rage after finding out the boys had been hiding the trash in the broom closet for months instead of throwing it out is both hilarious, and scary.

The Punch-Out!! Arc

  • Dad notices Ace wearing his sunglasses indoors.
Dad: *Sweetly* Ace, what time is it?
    Ace: 7 o' clock!
(Dad yanks the shades off of Ace, who is left with a stupefied look as the Mario NES death sound plays)
Dad: You have neither the charisma... nor the poise. *Slowly puts the sunglasses on*
Dad: "I wear my tinted spectacles in the evening, so I can, so I can read... the periodicals."
  • The boys making the battle with Glass Joe, which takes all of one hit, into an epic confrontation. Also doubles as a Moment of Awesome.
  • Dad's over the top reaction to seeing Von Kaiser.
Dad: THE GERMAN STEEL MACHINE?! Oh my boy, you're going to get mutilated!
  • Throughout this entire arc, Ace reacts to Von Kaiser's punches as if he was the one getting punched himself.
  • Ace gets hit so hard by Von Kaiser's uppercut that he enters an unconscious dream sequence, where Doc Louis is actually talking to him from the video game.
    • Doc Louis acts like such a Large Ham during this sequence, if you listen closely you might hear some stage hands corpsing in the background.
    • After much time passing of Doc Louis messing with Ace, he finally decides to give him some advice on how to beat Von Kaiser. What does he tell him?
Doc Louis: Join the Nintendo Fun Club! Today!
  • Ace attempts to put Doc Louis' advice to the test in a rematch against Von Kaiser, but once it catches up to him that he never actually gave him any legitimate advice, he starts to panic.
  • Chet tries to get Dad to throw in the towel to stop the match.
  • Dad agrees (ie: forces, against the better judgment of the boys) to train Ace personally. Cut to Dad pummeling Ace senseless for many, many hours. He even forgets what he was supposed to be doing towards the end.
Chet: Dad, how is this supposed to teach Ace how to box?
Dad: Teach Ace to what now?

Mario's Time Machine

  • R.O.B. tries to analyze Ace's failing history test paper.
    Moron Alert!! Moron Alert!!
  • After dancing with R.O.B., when Dad finally sees the big fat F- on Ace's test, his smile immediately fades while the theme music in the background dies down.
Dad: ...Oh, I see! Ace's history test! *Smiling*
    Ace: You're not mad?
    Dad: Oh Ace...
(Dad, while still smiling, tightly grabs the collar of Ace's shirt with the hand that was holding his test, crumpling it in the process)
Dad: I'm Furious~! *Kisses Ace's head while still looking at him sweetly*
  • The gigantic dunce hat.
  • Dad's obsession with the candle over the head instead of the lightbulb.
Dad: Pictures convey it so much better!
  • "The apple helped Issac Olivia Newton-John discover gravity."

Sonic The Hedgehog

  • The review has the boys running from the robots.
  • "Hughes, Hedgehog, Hats." That is all.

The Excitebike Arc (Finale)

  • Ace is positively off the walls for this entire arc, to the point that it becomes a mild plot point up to the finale. He's so psyched for the game they're gonna be playing that he's constantly pretending that he's riding a motocross bike himself, to the ire of Dad.
  • Ace is so excited to play he says he may "excite" his pants.
Dad: Oh there will be none of that! It looks like SOMEONE *glares at Ace* "excited" their bed sheets last night!
  • Dad, behind the scenes, has been making a birdhouse monument for Larry Byrd, but it keeps falling apart due to Ace's boundless excitement towards Excitebike, causing many bird related casualties.
  • During the final episode, Dad's final birdhouse monument comes crumbling down in dramatic, off-screen fashion.
Chet: Looks like it's back to the drawing board, huh Dad?
Dad: No Chet... I think it's time we ran... *puts on sunglasses* ran so far away...
(Dad and the boys proceed to book it like hell out of there while a Chiptune cover of "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls plays in the background)
