Fridge Brilliance

  • When Citizen Z gets the dog in the second episode, he grills up a couple of steaks and both of them seem fine after eating them. In the next episode, however, it's revealed that all living creatures are infected by the zombie virus and turn after being killed (and, later, a zombie bear shows us that, yes, it is every living creature that is infected). So how can there still be enough good meat for Z and the dog to "get fat on the apocalypse"? The cows were killed before the original outbreak!
    • Even if they'd been killed after the infection kicked off, cattle are normally killed in the same way that zombies are put down for keeps: by destroying the brain. So they never had the chance to reanimate.
  • Murphy was convicted of mail fraud. At first glance this seems to imply be a way of showing that they were desperate enough to experiment on non-violent criminals. But it also shows Murphy is a con man, and cannot be trusted.
  • The Groups Catchphrase "We were nowhere near X" might seem comedic and just a thing they say, but they are transporting the only possible cure for the Zombies, and also they don't like to help out people unless they really need to, like, for supplies and stuff, if their exploits were connected to them, not only would more people find out that Murphy was "The Murphy" but also people they meet would ask them for more and more help, making their mission harder to do as every Tom, Dick and Harry would be begging the aid of the Legendary Operation: Bitemark group.
    • Also, in their minds, there's the possibility of society going back to the way it was. Considering at least one incident involving the destruction/damaging of historical item (for example, the Liberty Bell). And if that's the case, there's a good chance that if society went back to the way it was, they may be charged for it. They're not just saying it in regards to their mission, they've basically saying it to set in their minds to basically cover their asses from any crimes they may have performed in the course of doing their job.

Fridge Horror

  • As mentioned above, Murphy was convicted of mail fraud and despite the crime being non-violent, he still got experimented on. One wonders exactly how many other non-violent inmates were experimented on....
    • This is mitigated slightly by his flashback to the day the outbreak started, he was one of the few inmates that survived the initial outbreak, he wasn't chosen at random, he was chosen because there were very few inmates left to choose from.
  • The Talkers themselves are Fridge Horror. The Talkers need the Z-Bizkuits in order to stay civil. One wonders how many safe-zones were destroyed by Talkers going feral.
  • None of the main human villains get back-stories for how they got into power in the first place. And considering the on-screen horrible deeds they are shown to do, some things are best left off-screen.
  • Almost every person/group/settlement Operation Bite Mark meet ends up being wiped out, usually due to zombies, this could be because of Murphy, being that even as early as season 1 he had a connection to the zombies due to the cure, he may be unconsciously summoning them, like how when Lucy was born she was attracting them too.
