In the series intro, we see the children's bedroom. The boy's bed and pyjamas are based on the Soldier, while the girl's bed and nightgown are based on the Ballerina. The Soldier and Ballerina were the two most important characters in the original fairytale.
The Goblin is significantly nicer to the other toys in the series than in the original special. The Jack-in-the-Box was broken at the end of the special, and the opening to the series depicts the Goblin as a figurine like the other toys; this is a new Goblin altogether, thus explaining the personality change.
In "Tea Party", the Frogs get the Goblin to do a fast-paced dance with him, even though he's feeling sick from indigestion. The Frogs let his arms go and turn their backs to him several times; shouldn't the Goblin have tried to make a run for it?
