Fridge Brilliance

  • Why does Quinn go out of his way to anger Sunny? Sunny is the the Badlands most feared and respected Clipper not to mention he's also Quinn's Regent and advisor. Quinn knows he's dying. His own son is worthless and would make a horrible Baron. For Quinn, Sunny is the son that should have been. But, Quinn doesn't believe in handing over anything. He wants a true successor, not just a kid who inherits the title. And to be a true successor, in Quinn's mind, Sunny has to kill him in open combat. Quinn believes sickness is weakness and the last thing he wants is to both appear weak and to die as a weakling. A clean, honorable death to the best Clipper in the Badlands is, in Quinn's mind, better than a slow weak death. And who better to take over after Quinn's dead than Sunny? So, Quinn pushes Sunny to force Sunny to kill him.

Fridge Horror

  • In "Fist Like A Bullet"(S01E02), Quinn kills Doctor Vernon and his wife Hannah to hide knowledge of the brain tumor that will kill him in a few months. The only other doctor in Quinn's territory is their adopted daughter, Veil (who has a fraction of his training and experience), so a lot of people will end up dead without Vernon to treat them. On top of that, Quinn has Sunny burn down their house, most likely with the x-ray machine Vernon used to diagnose Quinn's tumor still inside. That's a valuable piece of life-saving pre-Apocalypse technology up in smoke. Just... wow.
