Fridge Brilliance

  • When Yukari notes that Guile doesn't have a single wound on his back, it sounds weird. However, after a careful reread, apparently Guile always goes straightforward (if he hadn't been getting blown away by some attacks, then he'd have fitted as The Juggernaut) and never retreats in battles.
  • Hachiro points out that Yoshino will never show her true nature and change if she has received a strong character instead of Guile. This is true, because Yoshino's Jerkass persona towards Guile is solely because of Guile stealing her chance to summon a stronger character while he isn't anything special, and thus, Guile becomes a tool for lashing out her anger.
  • Remember what happens during the formation of Yoshino's gadget? Black flames and piping sounds (the noise that eagles make) are involved. Guile's evolution? Involves black flames, and he becomes a Bird People.
    • On a lighter note, Guile also prefers resting on a tree instead of the ground, unless he's too tired to get on a tree.
  • In chapter 12, when Hachiro starts grumbling about courtesy and rules, Draggy shows interest in the word 'rules' before Hachiro brushes him off. Draggy's reaction is a reference to chapter 3, when he has troubles with the word 'rules'.
  • Why can't Genie win against Guile? This refers to the difference between defense and health in gaming. Genie specializes in powerful attacks that easily break a foe's defense, as shown by her chainsaw attack breaking Guile's mask easily (note that Guile's mask is made of gold), and if Guile hasn't jerked away fast, he must have his face mangled. The said attack also shreds Guile's right lung and obliterates the ribcage that protects it. However, Guile's strength is in pain tolerance, stamina, and sheer determination, not defense. This renders Genie's defense-breaker blows ineffective. If Genie has been fighting Draggy, who has scales protecting him but lower pain tolerance (Draggy flinches when Starky manages to hit his unprotected ear with Maximal Raydiation), Genie will win because Genie can break Draggy's scales easily with her attacks and Draggy isn't as durable as Guile is.
  • Genie is an assassin, so she must know Guile's heart position (left side of the chest) and is capable of dealing One-Hit Kill to him with her chainsaw attack, but why doesn't she just directly aims for Guile's heart to kill him? Because Genie can only cast the chainsaw spell with her left arm, and since Guile and Genie are fighting face-to-face, an attack from the right arm will land on a foe's left side and vice versa. Also, Genie can only do simple thrust with the chainsaw and the spell duration is pretty short, preventing her from attacking Guile's heart easily.
    • This is also why Guile is still alive (although it's worth noting that the universe runs with Only a Flesh Wound). His heart is intact because it is located on the left side of his chest, while the serious injuries are on the right side of his chest.
  • This looks like a Deus ex Machina at the first glance, but the slabs of rocks Yoshino picks up to fend off Genie are subtly referred when Genie blows Guile away with Tornado, which doesn't only pull Guile in. It also pulls in some twigs and rocks from the surroundings and blows them away.
  • Starky's Flash Shot debut also seems to be a Deus ex Machina, but actually, Starky has been wielding a Ray Gun all this long, and Starky's skills are all Light 'em Up varieties.
  • The same goes to Guile's Tremor Fist debut, but as a Black Mage, Guile has knowledge about magic regardless of elements.
  • Yoshino considers users of support elements as cowards, especially those who use defensive ones. However, earlier in Ari's dream, Yoshino uses 'Nimble', which raises the evasion of a character. This makes Yoshino sound like a hypocrite. However, this is Ari's dream and Ari doesn't really know Yoshino until he gets 'bullied' by her, and thus, the Yoshino in the dream is probably fake.
  • If you're careful, in chapter 5, you can immediately tell that Starky is just pretending to be wild. Why? Starky doesn't immediately shoot Guile's head with his BFG. Instead, he just stands still, and this gives Guile a chance to knock him down.

Fridge Horror

  • The moment Guile tells Ari what actually happens between Draggy and Skelly to clear the issues about Draggy is very disturbing after realizing what may happen. Skelly's Berserk Button is when someone meddles with his plan, and Guile is in a very bad shape right now. Imagine what can happen because of this. Fortunately, Draggy evolves afterwards thanks to Ari's desire of saving Guile, who has helped him.
  • Yoshino says that she neglects Guile, calls him a wimp whenever he is losing in a fight, throws him a pail of water to wake him up, and forces him to fight even when he is injured. Meanwhile, in chapter 6, Guile has been with Yoshino for at least five days before leaving her. Five days undergoing such harsh treatment is really disturbing.
    • Yoshino also mentions that she doesn't care whether there's rain or not. So this means that Guile probably sleeps outside without protection even when raining.
  • Not much of a Nightmare Fuel, but this is one hell of Tear Jerker. Why does Guile's mother hate him to the point she self-destructs in front of his very eyes? Because Guile is unwilling to fight with his true power. Why does Yoshino hate Guile to the point she abuses him? Because Guile appears to be pathetic in combat. Similar reasons, no? And it's worse because Guile is someone who Desperately Craves Affection.
