    Fridge Brilliance
  • Quiet, demure Rei going berserker when Zeruel was about to strike Shinji and Asuka does not sound so shocking when you realize she is Yui "You hurt my baby boy. DIE!" Ikari's clone. OF COURSE she went mad.
  • In chapter 8.16 Rei appears to be rambling incoherently and saying things that make no sense, but she is talking about herself from the perspective of Lilith who is missing her legs and has been stabbed in the chest.
  • Rei loves hugs. This is only natural since the she was born to give hugs to everyone.
  • With the fact that Kensuke has been shown be approving of Kyouko's and Sayaka's lesbian relationship, you could say he wholeheartedly ships KyouSaya.
  • Rei constantly calling Kaworu "stupid fish" and "Rainbow Trout" can actually fit as another one of Evangelion's many religious references.
  • In this post, Sufficient Velocity user gS49 realized what Asuka's week-long Zany Scheme accomplished:
All of this, besides the hints of the nature of their relationship, was to teach Misato that they have become more adult, more mature, without Misato being aware of the lesson. Thus, Misato took them seriously when they calmly and rationally made their arguments. She listened and considered what they said, something adults don't generally do with children. Without realizing it, Misato started taking them more seriously, not dismissing them as children. And in so doing, she unconsciously accepted at least the possibility that they could handle the emotional complications of a serious relationship.

Furthermore, and the teens may not have even realized that their effect went this far, Misato thinking of them more seriously allows her to take their revelations about their mothers more seriously, rather than dismiss it as a child's imagination.
  • Another religious reference that can also be counted as Fridge Horror. You know how Arael, in this fic, attacks Rei and Kaworu instead of Asuka? Keep in mind that both Arael and Kaworu are the spawn of Adam. This means that Arael Mind Raped his own brother... Which crosses into a religious reference when you consider that, again, they both are the spawn of Adam. (Arael is Cain, Kaworu is Abel.)
  • Meta example: Strypgia announced that Chapter 12 will adapt End of Evangelion. Amd Chapter 1 (the divergence point) adapts episode 15. How many episodes are from episode 15 to the end? Twelve. In fact, if you think about it, every chapter except Chapter 2, 4 and 5 adapts an episode.
    • Chapter 1, as stated above, adapts episode 15.
    • Chapter 3, which has the Leliel fight, adapts episode 16. The difference is that Asuka is absorbed by Leliel instead of Shinji.
    • Chapter 6, which brings in the Forth Child, adapts episode 17. The difference is that Hikari is the Forth Child instead of Touji, and this one affects the adaptations of episodes 18 and 19 as well.
    • Chapter 7, which has the Bardiel fight, adapts episode 18. Aside from the aforementioned difference that Hikari is the Forth Child, the differences are that the Forth Child is absorbed by their unit instead of being crippled, and that, instead of quitting, Shinji is outright fired, and Asuka ends up on Gendo's bad side, which leads to her being fired as well.
    • The first half of Chapter 8, which has the Zeruel fight, adapts episode 19. The difference is that Asuka does a much better job against him (it's Rei who ends up sucking at it until Asuka runs out of power, at which point Rei enters Berserker mode), and that the plot point of a pilot being absorbed by their Eva was already being covered (Hikari was absorbed by Unit-03), so Shinji doesn't end up absorbed.
    • Episode 20 is adapted throughout both the second half of Chapter 8 and the entirety of Chapter 9. It's not apparent at first since these chapters are overall Breather Episodes, but Strypgia brings an important point in this post: during episode 20, Asuka's birthday comes and goes. Since in Advice and Trust Shinji wasn't absorbed for a month by Unit-01, him and Asuka healing each other is the fic's premise, and the plot point of a pilot being absorbed by their Eva was already resolved (Hikari ends up extracted from Unit-03 at the end of the Zeruel fight), the closest thing to adapting episode 20 is a Birthday Episode for Asuka.
    • Episode 21 is not adapted, since it's a backstory episode and thus is not affected by the outcome of Shinji and Asuka's First Kiss. It is, however, referenced in a way when Shinji learns about Yui's agenda for Third Impact.
    • Chapter 10, which has the Arael fight, adapts episode 22. The main difference is that it's Rei and Kaworu who end up Mind Raped instead of Asuka.
    • Chapter 11 adapts episode 23,since it has both the Armisael fight and the whole ordeal with Rei being cloned. The main difference is that Asuka doesn't try committing suicide due to Shinji showering her with affection throughout the entire fic and Arael picking a different target; again, explained in this post.
    • Episode 24 is adapted throughout 3 chapters (9-11), since Kaworu makes his debut early and has his own character arc. And unlike in canon, he's alive for the End of Evangelion adaptation due to Shinji taking a third option.
    • Finally, Chapter 12 adapts End of Evangelion, which are episodes 25' and 26'. With all the changes, the ending is clearly going to be different, since the Butterfly Effect shows that a single change in the past has a massive impact on the future.
