Belphegor
  • Recommended by: loracarol
  • Comments: Gen pairings when any, occasionally canon like Superman/Lois. Mostly focuses on Flash/friendships, though not always. She has four stories for the DCAU, and three that focus mainly on the Flash and his Rogues gallery; however, she has an excellent drabble fic with amazing stories in it as well, which can be found here.

Dark Mark website and FF.net link''
  • Recommended by Tron80
  • Comments: Dark Mark writes long, epic tales often focused on the Superman family and involving most of the heroes and villains of The DCU. His stories are usually set in the Golden and Silver Ages but they're completely accessible and understandable to newer fans.

Mithen
  • Recommended by: BANKERBAX, Soulseller, thebadplace
  • Parings: Mostly Clark/Bruce slash.
  • Mithen's stories are well written, well thought out and well worth reading. She has several stories taking place in detailed alternate universes she created herself. Even if Clark/Bruce isn't your thing, you can appreciate the writing!
    • Music of the Spheres series - Batman and Superman meet and are forced to work with each other. Bruce and Clark meet and fall in love. An epic AU consisting of several long stories and a few side stories. Heaps of slash.
    • The House of the Earth - An absolutely brilliant AU. Author's description: The House of the Earth" is an AU series in which a few thousand Kryptonians escaped the destruction of Krypton and came to Earth, enslaving its people. Kal-El, heir to the powerful House of El, has just returned from over a decade of off-world schooling to find that his cousin Kara has purchased a new personal slave.
    • The Gardens of Wayne Manor series - Clark Kent's life goes in an unexpected direction at an early age and ends up entangled with Bruce Wayne's. It follows their lives for over a decade, starting from when they were children up until they become heroes. The set up seems foreign at first glance but is handled in a way that makes you feel it could be canon. As they are young there is more subtle and oblivious romance than actual cushion pushin'.
    • Earth and Sky series - Author's description: This series explores the possibility that Superman and Batman had a romantic relationship in the AU world shown by Jeph Loeb in the "Absolute Power" story arc, and the effects that would have on the canon versions of the characters.
    • Four First Kisses - Superman is dead. Batman refuses to accept this. Time travel fic. [Winner of the 2006 World's Finest Awards for Long Story and Romance]
    • 36 Views of Mount Fuji series - This series is meant to be a fairly light-hearted look at the year starting after the Superman/Batman Annual #1, where Clark and Bruce meet on a cruise. It covers four separate trips to Japan and the experiences the two of them have there. It's largely a chance for me to enjoy imagining two very American superheroes travelling around Japan and—eventually—falling in love.

  • Status: Dead (last updated May 7, 2020)
  • Synopsis: Author's summary: "My take on the DC Universe, specifically revolving around the Justice League. However, no knowledge of the DC Universe is needed. Victory Bonds by Copperbadge
  • Recommended by Addikt, Pastykake
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The year is 1947, and Daily Planet front-pagers Clark Kent and "Louis" Lane are about to get the story of their careers, courtesy of the fledgling Justice League: the enigmatic Superman, the spy-turned-vigilante codenamed Bat, intelligence agent and newly minted Green Lantern Alan Scott, and Ambassador Diana, Princess of Themyscira.
  • Pairings: Clark Kent/Lois Lane, but this fic has a lot going on beyond that and works well as a Gen fic.
  • Comments: Don't let this 1st person fic fool you. Victory Bonds is an excellent well-researched and written post WWII DC AU. It's just too much fun to read and imagine our favorite characters existing in this verse. It's exciting to see how the Justice League forms, with the villans being very much a product of the period. Also, a very interesting take on how Superman disguses himself while in uniform. While I recommend this to any Justice League fans, this fic is highly recommended for Superman or Clark/Lois fans. —Addikt

  • Pairing: Diana/Bruce, Clark/Bruce friendship

  • Synopsis: Wonder Woman wants Batman. Batman wants no one. The rest of the world wants Wonder Woman to end up with Superman. Basically, it's a humorous telling of how Diana tries to develop a relationship with Bruce despite the fact that everyone in the world seems to think she is more than Just Friends with Superman.
  • Comments: Very funny, amazingly well-written, and quite touching. Possibly the most in-character this troper has ever seen Diana be written in fanfiction.

Porridge by Mostly Harmless III
  • Recommended by Cinna the Poet
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: After Batman dies, Superman is determined to recreate him, no matter what it takes.
  • Pairing: Batman/Superman, bits of Superman/Jason Todd
  • Comments: Holy... Even if slash isn't your thing, Porridge is definitely worth reading. At 20,000 words, it's one of the longest one-shots I've ever read, and in that time it manages to weave an epic of frustration and ingenuity. Computer!Bruce is fantastically written. Probably the best fanfic I've ever read.

Can Superman stop it? I sure hope so. (In Progress)
  • Comments: The first echos many elements of Spider-X. Later books drop much of the lightness and romance of the first story and get rather dark and complex (including Alpha Couple Clark and Rogue break up and Rogue becomes evil and betrays all the X-Men to the Brotherhood. There is little warning for this, as the author seems to constantly foreshadow Clark and Rogue working things out so readers should be warned that the third book reads like a totally different series.

  • Comments: This is one of the best crossover fics between Marvel and DC that I have ever read. What initially starts as a simple Superman/X-Men crossover eventually turns into a MASSIVE crossover between what appears to be the entire Marvel and DC universes. A three-part story (with a fourth currently incomplete), this is an enormous feat of writing, and one that The Writer With No Name accomplished amazingly well. Of note is how Superman, while the main character, does not dominate the narrative - other members of the X-Men (and later, the JLA) have their moments in the spotlight. Aspects of this fic are taken from the X-Men: Evolution TV show, Ultimate Marvel, DC comics, and a variety of other comics and TV shows that feature these characters. While long (1,446,213 words and counting for all three parts), it is an amazing read! Now if only somebody would make a TV show out of this...
    • While I do have to admit that this fic has a lot of flaws, such as overpowered DC characters, underpowered Marvel characters, and a stupid love interest who is NOT Lois Lane, this was the first fanfic I ever read and also helped get interested into Marvel. A must read for people first getting into fanfics.

We'll believe a man can WHAT?!, Thuktun Flishithy

One on One by Jake Thomas
  • Recommended by Kchishol
  • A suspicious young runaway woman is interviewed in the park by Clark Kent, who promises to give back her lighter and leave her alone after he asks 10 questions.
  • Comments: With only a shoestring budget, Jake Thomas creates a powerfully simple story in which Clark Kent satisfies his curiousity and concern for a lonely girl. In doing so, he inspires her with a reason to hope not through superhuman feats, but through the simple compassion to listen.

Hope by Dan Haring
  • Recommended by Jeduthun
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing(s): None.
  • Synopsis: A short, elegant fan comic by Disney artist Dan Haring shows Superman stopping by the Kent farm to have a touching conversation with his mother, who encourages him with some wisdom about dealing with the times he can't save people.
  • Comments: It's just a little eight-page comic, but in one short vignette that's nothing more than a chat between Clark and Martha, Haring captures the essential heart of the Superman legend better than many elaborate official stories and movies manage to do. Be prepared for a few heartwarming sniffles and the sudden urge to call your mom afterward.
