Proof that the remaining 10% is worth being cancelled then un-cancelled for here:

These are recommendations made by tropers for Fan Fics for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be blasted. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

From the Top Shelf

  • Recommended: by Much Ado About Nonny
  • This is a collection of the best fanfics of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars section. No, that's not exaggeration; the gal who runs this site is one of the best writers in the fandom, and she knows what she's looking for when it comes to good fanfiction. This community is great, because it's basically one-stop shopping. You'll find quite a diverse sampling of everything the TCW fandom has to offer (not including instances of the Anakin/Ahsoka pairing, though this is probably subject to change), so there's something for almost everybody.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

    General Fics

Back From the Future: Episode VI The Clone Wars by Ariel_Sojourner

  • Recommended by: Dame-Amaryllis
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In which Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader travel back in time together to the Clone Wars era, have amazing adventures, and save the galaxy.
  • Tags: Time Travel

Clone Wars Movie Saga by Smudger9

  • Recommended by: Decaf Grub 47393
  • Status: In Progress (Episodes I through IV are complete)
  • Synopsis: The Clone Wars movie and TV series was a great addition to Star Wars canon. However, it had a lot of filler, was often very child-orientated and had villains that were less than threatening. I wanted to create a movie series that stuck to the Star Wars movie structure while also stripping out the filler, removing the childish elements and creating threatening villains.
  • Comments: While this saga is far from finished, this is a great companion piece to HAL's Prequel Trilogy.

Fallen Legends by Grey Silhouette

  • Recommended by: World 1000
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: *Warning: spoilers for the Season 5 finale.* When Anakin doesn't find Ventress and Ahsoka is sentenced to death, Obi-Wan breaks her out, unable to let a travesty of justice take place. The Council complicates matters by jumping to conclusions, and while Obi-wan and Ahsoka try to find the truth about what happened, Barriss is planning to set off another bomb...
  • Pairing(s): None
  • Tags: This fanfic is amazing. I used to wait every other day restlessly for each chapter. Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Ventress are in-character, the author shows the Council as flawed, but not going overboard, and the action scenes are fast and furious. Read it. You won't ever regret it.

Here I Go Again by Above the Winter Moonlight

  • Recommended by: Alyssa Macki
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: COMPLETE AU. The Force has decided to take matters into its own hands by sending Obi-Wan Kenobi back to the past following his death. Many things will change but only time will tell if these changes are enough to stop the rising darkness. Siriwan and Anidala. Now with Trope Page in desperate need of work.
  • Comments: This is an awesome take of Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith if Obi had the knowledge of the original series. Characterizations are good and neat to compare to the original. A lot of scenes and dialogue are taken from the original movies and episodes, but there's enough original dialogue that it works out well. Also, the author's notes are very hilarious from chapter 4 onward.
  • It most certainly is an interesting story. Very rough around the edges, but manages quite well. The justification of why Obi-Wan can't change everything (he is just one person and was only sent back to save Anakin ultimately) is brought up repeatedly (almost annoyingly so) though it's a good idea. Some of the things are handled poorly, but it is still enjoyable nonetheless.

Pity by mylordshesacactus.

  • Status: Complete
  • Recommended by: Kablob, thebadplace
  • Synopsis: A series of visits made by Luminara Unduli to her former apprentice's prison cell.
  • Comments: This fic is one of the best interpretations of Barriss and Luminara's characters and relationship out there. A must-read for fans of either character. Post-The Wrong Jedi.

Reforging by mylordshesacactus

  • Status: Complete
  • Recommended by: Kablob, thebadplace
  • Synopsis: Luminara Unduli is interrogated by the Empire's newest Inquisitor. Some time earlier, Barriss Offee wakes up in the dark.
  • Comments: The sequel to Pity. Incredibly painful, but such an amazing fic. Warning: there's quite a lot of torture.

The Erosion of the Spirit by 425599167

  • Recommended by: The Witchfinder
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: With the Jedi Order destroyed at the end of the Clone Wars and the Republic swept away, Ahsoka and Barriss must work together to survive and fight back in a galaxy under the Empire.
  • Comments: Out of many fics that explore the lives of Ahsoka and Barriss after the bombing and after the rise of the Empire, this is probably this troper's favorite. It's less about adventure and more about the healing that takes place between them and within themselves.
  • Note: Slight crossover with Knights of the Old Republic.
  • Has a sequel - Forming New Bonds (Ongoing)

Across The Frozen Sea by {{ArtyArtillery}}

  • Recommended by: The Witchfinder
  • Status: Completed
  • Synopsis: Ahsoka, Barriss, and Riyo find themselves stranded in the Pantoran Taiga. They must get back to civilization, but the wilds are more dangerous than they realize. If the cold doesn’t get them, the locals will.
  • Comments: Talk about underrated; only 50+ kudos after completion for one of the more riveting stories this troper has read in a while. Sometimes it's just nice to put the main plots on pause and experience some good old-fashioned adventure and world-building.

A Matter of Time by His Majesty the Emperor

  • Recommended by: Krspace T
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "This Republic is failing. It is only a matter of time." In the aftermath of The Wrong Jedi hero and villain alike deal with the fallout and wonder what the future has in store
  • comments: Nine characters' POV's of the events of Season 5's finale are delved into, each in a way that is perfectly in character. Even Palpatine, who the author writes too well.

Echoes in the Wisp by 60sec400

  • Recommended by: thebadplace
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Anakin and Ahsoka find themselves twenty years in the future. The Jedi are gone, the world is occupied by yet still an unknown something that clearly does not favor them. And, yet, the Force is telling them to go to Tatooine, back to that god-forsaken planet. So they go. It's there that they decide they cannot take this future. AKA: If Obi-Wan hadn't been able to weather the storm.
  • Pairing(s): None

Life and What Comes After Verse by Ibelin

  • Recommended by: thebadplace
  • Status: Dormant; last updated May 2020
  • Synopsis: Obi-Wan dies on Jabiim. Anakin blames himself, doesn't know how to go on and yet - he does. Maybe the Force rewards that kind of thing, or maybe he just gets lucky, but when a mission lands Anakin on a vaguely familiar planet, he gets a second chance to do what he knows he should have done in the first place: save his master. And maybe a chance to save the galaxy, too.

Villain of a Different Story by HiNerdsItsCat (HiLarpItsCat)

  • Recommended by: thebadplace
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: Somehow, the impossible happened: Anakin Skywalker changed his mind. He remembered joining the Sith. He remembered being in the Jedi Temple. He remembered that he was there to kill everyone, even the younglings. Only somehow, he discovered that he didn’t want to do any of that. But it was too late to change things now… wasn’t it? It turns out that there are some perks to being the Chosen One: Anakin finds himself transported five years into the past—only to discover that it isn’t his past, but a completely different one. One where Obi-Wan Kenobi left the Jedi Order, where Qui-Gon Jinn survived… and where Anakin Skywalker is the galaxy’s greatest villain.
  • Pairing(s): Obi-Wan Kenobi/Satine Kryze, Padmé Amidala/Anakin Skywalker

You Either Die A Hero... by RennyBanette

  • Recommended by: thebadplace
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: ...or get bored enough to screw up the timeline. Or: On Umbara, the clones get stuck in a time loop.
  • Pairing(s): None

Dominoes by meridianpony

  • Recommended by: Viira
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Domino Squad wakes up to find themselves back on Kamino, hours from taking their final test... except they remember passing the final test, and they each remember dying afterwards, too. Now has a TV Tropes page.
  • Comments: A time-travel fix-it where Domino Squad ends up with the responsiblity of preventing Order 66. The plot itself is already interesting, but where the story really shines is the characters. Each member of Domino Squad gets fleshed out and is given chance to develop over the course of the story, and the OCs are quite likeable.
  • The characters are also normal clones- none of them magically become force-sensitive and the clones who died on Rishi have to keep up. They try to help win the war with fewer fatalities, but their only advantage is Fives and Echo's ARC training and knowledge of the future.

Vode An by epsiloneridani

  • Recommended by: Viira
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: There are millions of lives on the line, clone and Jedi alike. Every second brings them one step closer to the chip's activation - one step closer to the endgame. The truth is shrouded in secrecy and clouded by doubt. The clock's ticking down. It's a race against time. Fives is gone. Echo finds the courage to ask why.
  • Comments: A season 7 fix-it, where Echo decides to investigate Order 66 with the Bad Batch, while Fives survives and teams up with Fox to do the same thing.

Soft Wars by Project0506

  • Recommended by: Viira
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: This is a softer universe than the one you know. In this space shall be gen, romance, humor, family, all sorts of soft things. Mayhap in a time or two there will be a sprinkling of hurt or angst, but it shall only ever be a dusting to make the comfort all the sweeter. You are safe here, my child, I swear it. No one wounds, no one dies.
  • Comments: This collection of fics takes place in a Star Wars universe free of all the death and suffering the characters go through in the The Clone Wars. Focuses on the clones. Most of the fics are gen, and the ones with romance are clearly marked.

Discovery by Marvelouswrites

  • Recommended by: Bright Light
  • Status: Dormant; last updated April 2020
  • Synopsis: Kyle Katarn and his student Jaden Korr stumble across something undiscovered for years.
  • Comments: An AU fic diverging from canon at the point of "The Citadel", where a complication on the mission separates Ahsoka Tano and several other clone troopers, still frozen in carbonite, from the rest of their strike team, and they are not recovered until long after the fall of the Empire.
  • Now has its own page.

A Padawan's Tale Episode I & Episode II by Magoose

  • Recommended by: Tropers/inukai44
  • Status: Episode I is complete while Episode II has been abandoned due to lost notes.
  • Synopsis: You, Laron Null are the new padawan to Obi-Wan Kenobi the fate of the galaxy is about to change.
  • Comments: A wonderfully written quest that turns the canon upside down due to events that occur in quest which starts with Laron arriving with Ahsoka when she gets assigned to Anakin.

War Bonds by ArcticMatter

  • Recommended by: Spoo
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: A novelization of the series, taking place primarily from the perspective of Ahsoka, Rex, and various members of the 501st.
  • Comments: A well-written fic that expands on canon character's complexities and isn't afraid to play around with canon, meaning that Doomed by Canon is decidedly not in effect, which only ratchets up the tension more.

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

    Shipping Fics

Ahsoka and Barriss Full Circle by Crossoverpairing Lover.

  • Recommended by: Krspace T
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Ahsoka/Barriss Ahsoka/Lux, hints of Ahsoka/Rex and no sided Anakin/Ahsoka
  • Synopsis: Oneshot: The story of Ahsoka and Barriss; a brief look into how they met as Jedi, how they came to be enemies, then reluctant allies, then friends again, then lovers, then mothers, then Jedi once again. M ish for themes but not actual scenes, more to be safe. Barrisoka
  • Comments: One of the few decent fics that develops the post Season 5 Barrisoka pairing, as well as how Ahsoka might survive Order 66.

Good Order and Discipline by Succorelle

  • Recommended by: Lantentine
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Captain Rex/Commander Cody
  • Rating: Teen/Mature
  • Synopsis: Nobody but a clone appreciates just how hard it is to be a clone.
  • Comments: Despite the unusual pairing (which might be a bit squick depending upon how you view it), the development of the clones' relationship is well written and convincing. The eye for detail breathes new life into characters that you never thought twice about.

When Night Falls by sachariah.

  • Recommended by: kablob
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Rex/Ahsoka, OC/OC
  • Synopsis: When Order 66 goes down, Captain Rex saves his Jedi Commander's life. Soon they are forced into an uneasy alliance with a certain bounty hunter, and try to rescue other surviving Jedi. Their feelings about each other soon become very complicated, however.
  • Comments: This was written before season 5, so it assumes Ahsoka was still a Jedi at the time of Revenge of the Sith. It's a long read, but worth it. One of the OC's is, sadly, a bit of a Mary Sue, but she doesn't show up until near the end and the rest of the story is so good that it's worth reading anyway.

Contrasts by gizzlescribbles

  • Now with a trope page.
  • Recommended by: Commander Visor
  • Status: Ongoing (updates every Tuesday and Thursday), canon-divergent
  • Rating: Teen (no gore or sexually explicit content)
  • Pairing: Ahsoka/Barriss
  • Synopsis: Ahsoka and Barriss navigate their feelings and the crumbling Republic during the Clone Wars.
  • Comments: Has been running since 2015 and is aiming to have over a thousand pages. It's well-written and beautifully drawn, worth the read, especially if you're an Ahsoka fan and regardless of whether you ship Ahsoka/Barriss or not.

Hunting Towards Heartstill by blackkat

  • Recommended by: Viira
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Cody/Mace Windu
  • Synopsis: Plo has an idea. Mace agrees, and everything snowballs right into hell from there. (Or: Mace and Cody get married in order to give the clones citizen status. Before they can focus on that, though, they're going to have to deal with ancient Sith artifacts, evil prophets, plots to overthrow the Supreme Chancellor, lost planets, monsters warped by Sith alchemy, inconvenient feelings, and Darth Sidious turning his eye on a potential new apprentice. Just...not in that order.)
  • Comments: Synopsis says it all. The plot is amazing and full of twists, and everyone is written in-character. The main pairing may be crack, but this fic makes it work amazingly well.

By the Sea by glimmerglanger

  • Now with a trope page.
  • Recommended by: Crystal Glacia
  • Status: Complete (main story is complete, but the snippets collection is still left open should the author decide to add something else)
  • Rating: Explicit (multiple explicit sex scenes and some violence and gore)
  • Pairing: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Commander Cody
  • Synopsis: Shell-shocked World War II veteran Obi-Wan Kenobi has retired to a tiny seaside cabin for some solitude and privacy as he fights unsuccessfully with his PTSD and poorly attempts to move on from the hell that was the war. One morning, he finds an injured merman washed up on the beach in dire need of care, so he carries him all the way up to his cabin, determined to nurse him back to health. The merman introduces himself as Cody, and as his slow convalescence over the long months occupies Obi-Wan's restless mind, the two men come to discover new things about each other, and themselves as they grow closer and closer.
  • Comments: A heartbreaking romance and character study that effortlessly weaves PTSD, literary interpretations of mermaids, internalized 1940s-typical homophobia, and learning how to be loved. This fic is NSFW "porn with feels" not only because of the sex, but also because the ending of the first story left me bawling my eyes out.

    Crossover Fics

Do You Want to Dance? by Hundred Sunsets

  • Recc'd by: K
  • Status: Complete
  • Fandoms: Star Wars and Carrie
  • Synopsis: Kaeden is only trying to make amends. Or: 'What none of them knew, of course, was that Barriss Offee was Force-sensitive.
  • Comments: An AU inspired by Stephen King's Carrie, imagining Barriss Offee as a quiet, religious girl with a psychic secret, Luminara Unduli as her distant, sometimes frightening adoptive mother, Kaeden Larte as a classmate trying to help Barriss feel part of things, and Ahsoka Tano as the popular girl who takes Barriss to prom — with deadly consequences. The setting is a sort of mid-point between 70s America and the Star Wars galaxy, with the main characters at high school on Coruscant.

Harry TanoNow has it's own page.

  • Recommended by: HonorableBaldy, Alyssa Macki
  • Status: Completed (57 chapters+)
  • Crossover with Harry Potter
  • Synopsis: After resigning from the Jedi Order, Ahsoka didn't expect to find herself sent to a new world, especially a world where a young boy needed her help...
  • Comments: Set after the events of Clone Wars season 5, Ahsoka Tano is caught in an explosion due to the implementation of Order 66 and ends up in The Cupboard Under The Stairs with a surprised 4-year old boy.
  • The story contains quite a bit of humour such as Alistair Moody apparently singing the teapot song and changes the timeline in the Potterverse (an AU world where George Lucas made the Flash Gordon films instead). It is worth noting that Lucius Malfoy is far more villainous than in canon while Dumbledore is portrayed as good but old and tired. There is also a good reason given for the canon "Weasleys outside the station portal", it's a voluntary measure to prevent muggleborns getting lost.
  • Very very enjoyable fic, lots of jokes woven into the plot, and honestly, this is my favorite SW/HP fic.

New Stars

  • Recommended by: dragonwing77
  • Status: Complete (19 Chapters).
  • Crossover with The Orville
  • Synopsis: A clone named CT-5599, or Maxx, is on a mission to destroy an experimental teleporter built by the Separatists. However, it explodes, and he's caught in the blast. He wakes up in a galaxy he doesn't recognize, and through a strange turn of events ends up on a ship called the Orville...

Path of the Padawan

  • Recommended by: SuperHeroTime27
  • Status: Complete (51 Chapters).
  • Crossover with Young Justice
  • Synopsis: When Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi Order, she disappeared. When she accidentally enters the rip in the universe to Earth-16, she must learn to adjust to a new life with a group of teenage heroes. Will she learn to trust them & start her new life here? Will Anakin be able to find Ahsoka? This is an original idea! Please read and like! Separate from "A New Destiny"! All for Ahsoka Tano!
  • Comments: Another story for Ahsoka after Season 5, only modelled after Logan GC's "A New Destiny". This is all for the glory of Ahsoka Tano. Longest story of the author, SuperHeroTimeFan.

Time and Faraway Space by Queen

  • Recommended by: Emperor Max 2019
  • Status: Dormant (last updated November 2017)
  • Fandoms: Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Doctor Who
  • Pairings: none so far but there are hints of Rex/Ahsoka and Cody/Barriss as the story goes on.
  • Four thousand years ago, a warning was carved in stone and left for a Padawan to find. While Ahsoka works towards deciphering the ancient carvings that bear her name, a mad man with a blue box appears, just as the galaxy begins to fly to pieces...
  • Clone Wars AU during season 5. Most of the season happens normally but the last 4 episodes of the season and everything after never happen. Ahsoka never leaves the Jedi Order and Barriss never bombs the temple. Fives doesn't die and the show's major original characters are still alive in time for Revengeof The Sith, and that's where the Doctor comes in.
  • Doctor Who AU post season 4 in the modern series. Takes the place of the specials that occur before 10 regenerates into eleven.

Avengers: Infinite Wars by free man writer

  • Recommended by: rod86neiva
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Fandoms: Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe +Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
  • Pairings: besides Anakin/Padmé, there are Pietro Maximoff/Riyo Chuchi, Peter Parker/Ahsoka/Bariss, Steve Rogers/Aayla Secura and hints for other crossover couples
  • The Clone Wars are in full swing with the galaxy divided. The Jedi lead the clone army against the infinite droid army of the Separatists. Yet a wild card enters the fray. The Avengers. From there, newer, more sinister and deadlier threats emerge and The Galaxy, no, the universe, shall never be the same again.
  • Clone Wars AU set after the events of Attack of the Clones and season 1, as well Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, when the Avengers, with all their canon members post-Age of Ultron plus Pietro Maximoff, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne discovering a new far away galaxy when investigating a HYDRA base with a strange Stargate-like portal…
  • The author have already confirmed that he planned five seasons (we are in season 3), and Spider-Man, Daredevil, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy have already joined the Star Wars galaxy

The Time Left To Leave by ahsokanerd
  • Recommended by: Euric 87
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: When the trial fails to go in her favor, Ahsoka is forced to face the reality that she will be executed in twenty-four hours.
  • Comments: A realistic and emotional depiction of Ahsoka's last day alive.

Shackled by hummingbird4237

  • Recommended by: Euric 87
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: At first, Rex thinks he is seeing things. It’s possible, his head is already light from dehydration and he’s surrounded by many other Togruta colonists, all of them reminding him of her. But he’d recognise those blue eyes anywhere, even under the dim lighting of the Kadavo mines. But that wouldn’t make any sense… Ahsoka Tano had been declared KIA three years ago. What is she doing in a slave processing facility?
  • Comments: Don't let the premise scare you away, this story is amazing. The results of Ahsoka's slavery and torture are portrayed realistically and remain the focal point of the story; they are not glossed over like other fanfics with similar themes. The story does not pull any punches regarding how three years of slavery have warped Ahsoka's perceptions of herself and the people around her, and you just pray everyone will help her love herself again.

BrokenPromise by Phoenix Fire Bird

  • Recommended by: Euric 87
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Anakin Skywalker is many things. He's a Jedi Knight, a General of the Grand Army of the Republic. He's a husband, a brother, and as well as a mentor, dare he say even a father figure. He's been called fearless, reckless, deadly with a lightsaber, and the best starfighter pilot in the galaxy. Anakin is also a former slave, an orphan, and should probably see a mind healer if he can ever have more than an hour off of the front lines. But most of all, Anakin is tired. Tired of fighting a war with no end against people who have valid points for wanting to leave the Republic. Tired of having to keep his marriage a secret, even from his best friend. But most importantly, Anakin is tired of loosing the people he loves. Now, as he watched his Padawan stare down the barrels of the men she had fought besides for nearly three years, Anakin decides enough is enough. If the Jedi and Republic can't help him protect what is important, maybe a certain Sith from Serenno can...Or...Anakin can't find the culprit of the bombing in time, and Ahsoka is executed. Tired of loosing the people he cares about, Anakin leaves to join his Great-Grandmaster while his wife stays behind to run the Jedi through the legal ringer.
  • Comments: If you want a fanfiction that will make you cry, then read the first five chapters of this. Like The Time Left To Leave, this story takes place in an alternate universe in which Anakin fails to find Asajj Ventress in time and Ahsoka is found guilty and executed. The difference is that it goes into far more detail regarding the emotional turmoil experienced by Anakin, the Jedi, and many others. The pic pulls few emotional punches, so it is not for the faint of heart.
