General Fics

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

No More Heroes 3: Alternate Struggles by OroJuice and Sha-Y (TV Tropes Page)

• Status: Complete
• Synopsis: A comic strip mini-series featuring alternate versions of Travis' encounters and battles with four particular alien bosses from No More Heroes III.
• Comments: What if... the unfought was...fought? As synopsis implies, the comics greatly expand on the powers, tactics, personalities, and sometimes backstories of the alien supervillains Travis was unable to battle in the game proper, granting him bonafide confrontations with each one. And of course, they provide new, entertaining, and sometimes horrific reasons for the reader/player/Travis to want them dead.

Hustle by t3h maniac

• Status: Dead
• Synopsis: A take on each assassin and how they were pulled into Sylvia's scam to make millions.
• Comments: A believable, realistic outlook on the game's plot and the characters. Almost seems Canon.
  • The grammar could use some work, though.

No More Heroes: Hero vs Savior by Okoa

• Recommended by Spiny Spades
• Status: Dead (last updated 3/1/2014)
• Synopsis: Takes place after the events of No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. The UAA shuts down after Travis makes it to number one once more, but new corporations start to surface as a result of Pizza Batt's fall. As such, corporations start to pit freelance assassins against each other in order to take out their competition. Hilarity ensues.
• Comments: It pokes great fun at America's bad economy, and it manages to retain all of the same aspects as the game. Travis and the other characters are IC, and it breaks the Fourth Wall just as good as the game does, only in fanfiction form.

Philistine by Neon Paranoia

• Status: Complete
• Synopsis: A backstory on Margeret and how she became an assassin in the UAA, following up to her last Ranking Match.
• Comments: Completely believable, it sets a nice background for Margaret's character which the game failed to do. Not only does it flesh Margaret out, it puts a bit of characterisation in Bad Girl, Helter Skelter, and Alice. Maybe they are not so bad after all. Can be a sort of a Tear Jerker.

Shipping Fics

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

I'm An Otaku And Proud Of It! by Roxius

• Recommended by Spiny Spades
• Status: Complete
• Pairings: Travis/Shinobu
• Synopsis: Shinobu has had enough of Travis' "collections".
• Comments: One of the better Travis/Shinobu fics in the fandom. Even if you don't ship it, you can still enjoy how in character everyone is.
  • The story seems to have disappeared, but there is an archive.org capture available.

Knowing You is the Kiss of Death by Bobo Peterson

• Pairings: Travis/Sylvia, Henry/Shinobu, Henry/Sylvia, Travis/Holly
• Synopsis: A collection of one-shots starring various No More Heroes pairings.
• Comments: A very realistic take on the characters and their relationships. There is a lot of detail and it all serves to flesh them out more.

NO MORE PONIES by Brony_Fife and Bookish Delight

• Crossover with: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
• Synopsis: Finally made angry at bronydom for the cancellation of his new favorite anime, Travis Touchdown decides to take up his beam-katanas and kill all the ponies.
• Comments: Despite accusations of being a mean-spirited trollfic, this story is well-written, nicely constructed, and the characterizations are a blast. There may be out-of-character moments for the MLP characters (such as swearing as often as Travis), but it makes them come off as the NMH bosses they're being presented as. Speaking of, the "boss fights" are the best parts of the story. If for nothing else, read the story for these fights!

No More Heroes: The Red Team by CadenGallic

• Status: Complete
• Crossover with: Team Fortress 2
• Synopsis: Travis has conquered the UAA, not once, but twice. But now he faces his greatest challenge yet, as he must square off against nine soldiers of a powerful group. They are known only as, The red team.
• Comments: Aside from being probably the only "Travis fights a new league of assassins" fic that's actually finished, it also captures the spirit of both games astoundingly well and the characters are completely spot-on. The TF2 characters aren't just boss battles either, as some of them go on to play bigger roles, such as the Medic forming an Odd Friendship with Travis.
