These are recommendations made by Tropers for Geometry Dash fanfics and/or user-created levels, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.
In terms of the latter, please keep in mind that, due to the size and age of the fanbase, there are a ton of levels created by users - enough to eclipse the number of official ones a countless number of times, even if the Gauntlet levels were to be counted as official. Therefore, do not put just any level you liked on this page; leave it for those that are especially noteworthy for their gameplay, design, etc.
You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. You can do it by expanding on the synopsis and/or pertinent tags, or linking similar or related fanfics/levels. Reviews are also encouraged, but please make sure to make reviews have substance; if you simply want to recommend a fic/level without an extensive review, put your Troper name in the Recommended by line of the fic/level in question. Please use the discussion page for conversations about fics or levels.
Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.
Ultra Violence by Xender Game
- Recommended by: Tropers/Bruhmpex
- Difficulty: Medium Demon
- Song: POWERSOUND by ELEPS
- Synopsis: You have been transported to a mysterious, chaotic dimension filled to the brim with flashing colors, complex technology, and Eldritch Abominations (or perhaps giant robots) that seem to want you dead for no reason other than For the Evulz. It's now your job to either escape this hellscape or die trying.
- Comments: Looking at the quality of his other works, it was clear from the get-go that Xender Game was going to make this a truly amazing level, and it definitely shows. The world around you perfectly exudes an aura of a mechanized apocalypse with everything crumbling around you, and the two bossfights in the level are an absolute treat to the eyes. Special mention goes to the latter of the two, the Abomination, who combines an exciting, frantic battle with music sync most bosses could only dream of (its first attack, which unleashes a giant laser from its mouth in time with the music's shrieking noise, never fails to impress new players) and even causes the famous Downer Ending by eating the player after its fight. There really isn't enough that can be said about this masterpiece of a level, but it's telling that it's gone on to become more popular than even Xender's magnum opus The Eschaton.
Game Time by SimilarAMZ
- Recommended by: towerator
- Difficulty: Insane Demon
- Song: BLIPPBLIPP by Bunnymajs
- Synopsis: The Flash game era saw the rise of many memorable challenges from notoriously difficult games such as The World's Hardest Game and Spikes Tend To Kill You. It's time to measure your skills to them once again.
- Comments: A level using both the space bar and the mouse which mimicks many famous flash games among its sections. Gameplay is very varied, requiring you to make use of custom powerups (Last Egg Alive), block opacity switch (Heart Star), a limited gravity reverse (Spewer) and even a programming mingame (Lightbot) to succeed. This level also uses its complete coverage of the screen for custom camerawork, which is notable in a pre-2.2 level. For those who played one of the many showcased games, nostalgia is guaranteed.
Dash Labs by Finsden
- Recommended by: spyland2
- Difficulty: Hard Demon (Platformer)
- Song: Thumper by Waterflame
- Synopsis: You are in a lab and you need to make use of dash orbs to escape.
- Comments: This level has a pretty cool gimmick where you can change the direction of the dash arrow with one set of inputs and use it with another set of inputs. The level starts out simple to ease the player into the mechanics but adds progressively more complex level designs and gameplay elements. I thought the part where your gravity changes when you use the dash orb was cool as it bumped up the difficulty by a good amount. In addition, the background music keeps you excited about wanting to beat the level. It gets pretty challenging towards the end but when you do manage it, it's satisfying to be able to complete the level.
