The Sky That Accepts All
is a Reborn! (2004) fanfic written by Kaliade on Archive of Our Own. The story is also cross-posted here on FanFiction.Net.
Sixteen-year-old Sawada Tsunami, daughter of Sawada Nana and the always absent Iemitsu, wakes up one day to find up she now has a sadistic tutor in the form of an infant. Tsuna's hiding a bit of a secret from her family, though. It's not like she could just tell her mother, let alone her father, that she's in charge of a Yakuza group. Add the mafia, more hot guys than she can shake a stick at, and the poor girl is questioning just what god she angered in a previous life.
The Sky That Accepts All contains examples of:
- Adaptation Name Change: As part of the fic's Gender Flip, Tsuna's given name is changed from Tsunayoshi to Tsunami.
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In canon, Tsuna had the benefit of growing up with a loving mother (albeit one that didn't have much faith in him succeeding in life). Here, it's mentioned that Tsuna's mother struggled with mental health issues that made it difficult for her to care for her child, leaving Tsuna to be raised by prostitutes since she was ten. Said health issues is later revealed to be Sky Infection which is likened to drugging someone.
- Adaptational Badass: In canon, Tsuna was an Ordinary High-School Student and a Loser Protagonist before gradually becoming more of a badass as the series went on. Here, Tsuna starts out as a teenage Yakuza boss who is able to physically fight off bullies and thugs.
- Adaptational Jerkass: While Mochida has always been a bully in canon, he wasn't a two-timer. The same cannot be said for him here where Tsuna reveals to the other students that Mochida was secretly dating three girls at the same time without them knowing about each other. The Mochida in this fic is also rather homophobic as he tries to insult Tsuna by calling her a lesbian. This gets zig-zagged with how he is eventually made Tsuna's Lightning Guardian due to Tsuna herself refusing to get Lambo involved.
- Age Lift: Tsuna is aged up from fourteen to sixteen in this fic.
- The rest of Tsuna's Guardians and classmates are also in high school rather than in middle school like in canon.
- Daughter of a Whore: A Family of Choice example than blood related. Part of Tsuna's backstory is that she was practically raised by prostitutes ever since she was ten and her own mother was too crippled by mental health issues to properly care for her.
- Gender Flip: Tsuna is a girl here when she was a boy in canon.
- Hates Their Parent: Tsuna outright despises her father for being absent from her life to the point where she freely calls him a bastard.
- Polyamory: It's mentioned throughout the fic that female Skies tend to attract many lovers and form harems.
- The end of chapter 7 sees Tsuna and Yamamoto enter a polyamorous relationship with Gokudera. Chapter 15 has Hibari joins in on their relationship as well.
- Daniela di Vongola, the last female Vongola boss before Tsuna, is mentioned to have had so many lovers that she was never certain who the father of her children were.
- The Queenpin: Tsuna in this fic starts out already running a Yakuza group at the age of sixteen.
- Red Baron: Tsuna is known as "Mujona-Tsuna" (English translation: Heartless-Tsuna) among her classmates. In the Yakuza world, she is known as the "Great Tiger".
- Yakuza: The main premise of the fic is that Tsuna was already the boss of a Yakuza group called the Akatora-Kai prior to Reborn being sent to train her.
