The House on Thornrose Lane: A Grimm Tale is a fanfic written by Marissa Meyer, the author of The Lunar Chronicles (of which may have been inspired by this). Combining Sailor Moon and fairy tales, Serena Tsukino finds herself trapped in the land of Grimm, where she must band up various fairy tale heroines to fight off the evil witch, Beryl: Cinderella(Lita), Snow White(Raye), Rapunzel(Amy), The Miller's Daughter (Mina) from Rumpelstilskin, and the mysterious Sleeping Beauty (Michiru).

- Adaptational Heroism: The four Shittenou are the princes for Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel and the girl from Rumplestiltskin.
- Adaptational Villainy: Andrew, Hota and Seiya are the collective Big Bad for this story. Their canon counterparts are all allies.
- Berserk Button: Badmouthing the storytellers is this for the inhabitants of Grimm.
- Bittersweet Ending: Serena gets to be with Darien, the princesses get their true loves and the kingdom is rid of the evil that plagued it. However, Endymion is still dead.
- Composite Character: Aside of course from combining Sailor Moon characters with fairy tale characters, some of the characters take on roles from different stories. Most Notably, Beryl is both the witch who cursed Sleeping Beauty and Snow White's stepmother.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: Andrew, Hota and Seiiya, the three guardians who helped Serena in the land of Grimm, turn out to be a Big Bad Ensemble
- Forced Transformation: Rapunzel/Amy is turned into a bird by the witch when she learns of the prince.
- Happily Adopted: From the parent's point of view, it turns out that Serena is the real Sleeping Beauty, who was switched at birth with Michiru to protect her from Beryl's curse. While Michiru is horrified by the revelation, the king assures her he intends to keep her as his daughter/Princess of the realm.
- Irony as She Is Cast: Short-haired Amy is Rapunzel.
- Mythology Gag: Michiru's lover is named Alex, Sailor Uranus' name in the original Tokyopop English translation of the manga.
- Too Dumb to Live: Red Riding Hood (Chibi-Chibi) believes the wolf is her grandmother because he's wearing a nightgown. Lampshaded by Serena.
- Molly decides to wait for her brothers while Bluebeard is trying to kill her.
- Wicked Witch: Beryl, and the unnamed witch who keeps Rapunzel imprisoned.
