Never Gone is a series of four Sailor Moon Alternate Universe Fic stories by Jecir
. The works focus mainly on the Shitennou, and their relationships with each other, the Senshi, and Mamoru.
The primary divergence is that, with the exception of Jadeite, the Shitennou and Beryl's generals were actually different people, and the Shitennou did not betray Endymion.
The stories, in roughly chronological order, are:
- . My Immortal: Mamoru regains his memories of the Golden Kingdom, and discovers that far more happened than he and the Senshi previously believes. Focuses on Mamoru's grief, and his past.
- . Incomplete: Mamoru releases the sealed/hidden memories, and the Senshi discover that the men they hated were not who or what they thought they were. Focuses on the Senshi, and their relationships with the Shitennou.
- . Here Without You: Simultaneous with Incomplete. The Shitennou's current incarnations regain their memories of the past, rescue their lost brother, and rejoin their master. Focuses on the Shitenou, their pasts, and their new lives.
- . Never Gone: The finale in the series, picks up after everyone has regained their memories. But all is not easy, as the couples face trials of circumstance, propriety, and new enemies.
Additionally, Jecir wrote a AU of their AU, Never Gone R which asks the question "What if Luna had never found Usagi?", allowing Mamoru and his Shitennou to take center stage fighting Beryl and her generals.
Never Gone contains examples of:
- Adaptation Name Change: Beryl's generals all have different names from their Shitennou counterparts except for Zoisite, who is instead named Tanzanite.
- Alpha Bitch: Castor/Zoisite, especially toward her brother.
- Artificial Human: Nephlyte (Beryl's general) is a clone of Nephrite (the Shitennou)
- Artificial Intelligence: The Computerized Defense of Terra, or C.D.T.
- Back from the Dead: Endymion kills Ahkmed to comply with the laws of the Central Kingdom. Then he revives him as Kunzite, first of the Shitennou.
- Blind Seer: Nephrite. Part of the reason his clone was made was to correct this.
- Blood Oath: How the Four Guardians seal their loyalty to Prince Endiymon
- Cain and Abel: Malachite/Anubis is the Cain to Kunzite/Ahkmed's Abel. Also Castor/Zoisite's Cain to Pollex/Tanzanite's Abel.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Non-romantic variant. Castor is not happy that her brother leaves her to become one of the Shitennou.
- Crazy Jealous Guy / Murder the Hypotenuse: Ryo does not want to let Ami fall for someone else.
- The Four Gods: While the meaning was Lost in Translation, the Four Guardians are chosen by the Four Gods to serve Endiymon
- Noble Bigot: The Senshi, bar Serenity, during the Silver Millennium. Artimes tries for it now, but can't seem to quite hit Noble.
- Patchwork Fic: Takes elements from both the 90s anime, specifically the first dub (Malachite's name, Fem!Zoisite, the Naru/Nephrite romance, various filler characters) and the manga / Crystal (the Shitennou's past and relationships with the Senshi) and blends them seamlessly.
- Reincarnation Romance: The Shitennou and the Sensei are this
- Minako Aino and Kyouya Hatake = Sailor Venus and Ahkmed aka Kunzite
- Makoto Kino and Seiya Unami = Sailor Jupiter and Cye aka Nephrite
- Ami Hino and Tamaki Yukino = Sailor Mercury and Pollex aka Tanzanite
- Rei Mizuno and Sanada Ryu = Sailor Mars and Ko aka Jadeite
- Screw Destiny: Kyouya/Kunzite initially wants to go this route. Eventually, he realizes that he would be better off rejoining his friends.
- True Companions: Endiymon and the Shitennou were this. So much that when Metallia had convinced Jadeite to not reincarnate, the others refuse to leave him behind.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Jadeite is the Keeper of Terra's Sacred Flame. This gives him a wide range of powers, including Playing with Fire and reincarnation. It also means if he spends too long around evil, he becomes evil himself.
