"This is just the beginning of something very interesting. Very interesting indeed"
It was supposed to be a simple mission: Investigate The Cursed Energy Source and return with results. But, when the person who was assigned just so happens to be Satoru Gojo, things don't go the way they're supposed to.

Follow Satoru Gojo and his new (totally not accidental) student, Luz Noceda, as they travel a realm completely foreign to both of them!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0.5: Gojo's New Students is a story by Deathly Jazz Hands 55 taking place in an Alternate Universe of The Owl House where it shares a world with the popular anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen. Due to a series of events, Gojo Satoru is led to Gravesfield, Connecticut on the orders of The Elders to find a source of Cursed Energy, with said source just so happening to be the main character of The Owl House Luz Noceda! Wacky hijinks ensue.

This fanfic can be read here on Fanfiction Dot Net, here on Wattpad, Quotev here and here on Archive of Our Own.

''Jujutsu Kaisen 0.5: Gojo's New Students provides examples of:

  • Action Dad: On a technical level, Gojo is this, as he is the sole provider for Megumi Fushiguro and his sister Tsumiki Fushiguro. His other qualification is that he's Gojo Satoru, which is self-explanatory.
  • Action Girl: As the secondary main protagonist, Luz is going to wind up being this. It is fate.
  • Anti-Magic:
    • Gojo theorizes that Cursed Energy might be that to the magic in the Demon Realm, though he does not yet know why.
    • When Eda is teaching Luz how to use Glyphs, as she hands Luz a Light Glyph, she watches as a blue energy drains and destroys the magic inside the Glyph, effectively making it nothing more than a piece of paper with a drawing on it.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Luz has undiagnosed ADHD and admits to Gojo she's always had trouble paying attention in school.
  • Badass Teacher: Gojo is shown to be insanely powerful and wicked smart in tough situations in both canon and here. He's been a teacher in the past and plans to do so again regarding Luz and the next class that he plans to teach at Tokyo Jujutsu High School.
  • Backported Development: This is in regards to, again, Gojo, seeing as this takes place post Hidden Inventory Arc and post Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Any and all of his character development in those two parts of the show has already happened.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: In King's second-ever sentence spoken in this fanfic is, quite literally "And who are these peasants?" While King might not literally be a king, he seriously makes you think that he is one based on how he acts when in reality King is merely just a child pretending to be something more than what he actually is.
  • Blessed with Suck: Gojo views this to anyone who is lucky, or unlucky, enough to have Cursed Energy in unusually enormous amounts, as it means that those that did have a larger-than-normal amount of Cursed Energy would often end up becoming a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and because of that they would often die young. Such is the fate of a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
  • Cartoon Creature: Gojo calls King a bipedal dog-like thing because that is the best way to describe King. He looks like a dog, has the skull of a dog but with horns, and has paws like a bear with the tail of a fox.
  • Child Soldier: Eda accuses Gojo of trying to turn Luz into one of these.
  • Cool Old Lady: Eda Clawthorne in a nutshell. She's a wanted fugitive, and she's a powerful witch. How much cooler can you get?!
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In Chapter 2/Episode 2, Gojo ends up running into a bunch of Coven Guards who are out seeking his arrest. It goes just about the way you think it does when he used Lapse: Blue to completely Annihilate them in one go.
  • Death by Adaptation: In Chapter 3/Episode 3, Viney is killed by a Cursed Spirit, having her stomach ripped open by it and her entrails thrown about to further make the scene disturbing as a means to produce more negativity.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: In canon The Owl House Luz was already this thanks to her lack of magic but use of Glyphs, here Luz has access to Cursed Energy, giving Luz a level of power that she never had before.
  • The Everyman: Luz is very much this until going to The Boiling Isles. She's just a kid trying to get by in a world that would much rather see her conform to what they want her to be.
  • Expy: Gojo comments that King looks like one of Megumi's Demon Dogs but only on a surface level.
    • Aside from the comparison to Megumi's Demon Dogs by Gojo in the story, outside of the story, his design is based on Cubone.
  • Fantastic Racism: Downplayed. Gojo is extremely iffy with the demon population in The Boiling Isles, specifically bipedal demons, mostly because they resemble Cursed Spirits. It is mentioned that Gojo has to restrain himself from time to time to stop himself from randomly killing civilians because of his experience with Curses and because Curses and Demons are extremely physically similar. However, that does not mean he isn't actively trying to curb the issue, as the longer he lives in the Demon Realm, the more comfortable he becomes with the demons.
  • Heroic BSoD: When Luz finds out she cannot use a Light Glyph, something a baby witch can do just fine, Luz gets overwhelmed and upset upon learning this, to the point of crying. It is only when Gojo cheers up her, telling her she is still special in another way that she gets out of the funk that she finds herself in.
  • I Want Grandkids: Non-Parent Example. The Elders have been pressuring Gojo to get married and father an heir for his Clan. Unfortunately for them, Gojo's not in a hurry to settle down and begin fatherhood anytime soon.
  • Innocence Lost: Gojo tells Eda this will eventually happen to Luz as she finds out first hand that being a Jujutsu Sorcerer isn't fun and games but instead a dangerous profession where Anyone Can Die.
  • Invisible to Normals: Cursed Spirits cannot be seen by those without a substantial amount of Cursed Energy, which means people like Satoru Gojo and Luz Noceda are invaluable to those in Jujutsu Society and the world over. This includes some witches, too, like Willow.
  • Kid Hero: This is what Luz will end up becoming as the story progresses.
  • King On His Death Bed: Emperor Belos, otherwise known as Philip Wittebane, is inflicted with a deadly illness due to engraving his body with glyphs as a means to increase his lifespan, which inadvertently made him sickly and ill fit to be a leader. He is dying, with only months left to live before his illness catches up to him, according to Lilith.
  • Language Barrier: Averted. Gojo can speak and understand English perfectly fine. The residents of the Demon Realm also speak English, too, just like in the show.
  • Like a Son to Me: It is heavily implied that Eda views King this way just as she does in Canon The Owl House.
  • Magical Girl: Due to her immense amount of Cursed Energy, Luz will become this, as the world at large knows nothing of Cursed Spirits.
  • Multinational Team: Let's see here: A Japanese adult Man, an Afro-Latina American Teen, an old lady who is of an entirely different species belonging to an entirely different dimension, a worm demon with an Owl for a face, and a dog-cat thing with horns on its head. If that doesn't meet the qualifications of a Multinational Team, then I don't know what does.
  • Mystical White Hair: A trait within the Gojo Clan, Satoru Gojo inherits this from his family, and as such it makes him stand out. Given his powers some see him as a God in human form, despite him being every bit as mortal as those he surrounds himself with.
  • Naïve Everygirl: Luz is very naive to the world around her, and as such, can easily get distracted by random things she's never seen before, or things she's never experienced before, despite their proposed danger.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: When Gojo admits to Eda that if Luz refused his offer to train her as a Sorcerer his bosses would have had her killed, she compares them to Belos: A Control Freak that will get rid of anyone that doesn't bend to their will.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lilith Clawthorne has this reaction when she watches the batch of Coven Guards she was asked to command to take down Satoru Gojo get turned into paste with a single attack, using foreign magic that she had never seen nor felt before, so much so she deems it a bastardization of what Magic should have been.
Lilith Clawthorne: he was immensely powerful. At least, that was what she felt when that wretched form of Magic touched her senses. It was Cursed, completely and utterly. Dare she say it was a bastardization of what Magic should've been?
  • Older Than They Look: Inverted - Eda is much younger than she appears, being in her early 40s rather than what she is, appearing as if she's in her late 60s.
  • Really Gets Around: Once described himself as a manwhore to the point that he ponders if he has fathered any illegitimate children across countries or even Luz's birth dad. Though that's highly unlikely considering there's too little of an age-gap between them and Camila wouldn't cheat on her husband.
  • Space Master: Gojo's Limitless Technique allows him to bring Infinity into reality by bending the finite space around him infinity and supercharging it with Cursed Energy, giving him access to his techniques like Reversal Red, Lapse Blue, and Hollow Purple.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: When Eda asks Gojo if he would have gone through with killing Luz if she refused to accept his offer of training her curse powers on the elders' orders, he honestly answers that he wouldn't do it. However, Gojo informs the witch that his bosses would just send another sorcerer that Would Hurt a Child instead.
