- Adaptational Explanation: The reason this Fan Fic exists is to explain why Jimmy committed the shooting in the first place.
- Adaptation Origin Connection: Ebon and Jimmy don't seem to know each other in canon but here Ebon is the reason why Jimmy committed the shooting in the first place.
- Adaptational Sympathy: No explanation to why Jimmy committed the shooting was ever given except for what he typed in his Battle Journal, though that was pretty vague and never elaborated on, here he is given a clear and sympathetic reason for his actions.
- Angsty Surviving Twin: Johnny, Jimmy's twin brother died due to the immense torture Ebon put him through and Jimmy had always blamed himself for his death.
- Anti-Villain: Jimmy Osgood, more specifically he is a type II, he had to watch his own brother being tortured until he died all because of Ebon's paranoid belief that they were part of a rival gang and thought that he was responsible for his brother's death because he told Ebon that he had a twin brother so he felt like he had to make it up for him by bringing him back to life via The Quantum Vapor, only to end up hurting one of his friends, Richie.
- Batman Gambit: One of these was a part of Jimmy's plan that involved him not showing up to Fright Fest or the next day at school so Virgil will get worried about him so he'll come visit him at his house and when he realizes what's up it'll be too late.
- Becoming the Mask: Initially Virgil and Richie were just pawns in his plan of bringing his brother back to life however they started to grow on him when they were at his house and he felt genuine remorse both after scarring them away after he tried to show them his dad's gun and for accidentally shooting Richie in the leg.
- Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Ebon torturing Johnny, Jimmy's twin brother to death and forcing Jimmy to watch is what caused Jimmy to attempt a mass shooting.
- Big "NO!": Jimmy had one of these after his brother was killed.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Ebon, After Jimmy rightfully calls Ebon a monster he replies with "I know".
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Johnny Osgood was subjected to this for hours until he died, it was so bad, in fact that Jimmy didn't want to tell Dr. Franklin what exactly Ebon did for fear that it might give her nightmares.
- Driven to Villainy: After Ebon killed his brother Jimmy Osgood became determined to bring his brother back to life and protect him, even if that meant committing a mass shooting, hoping to kill all of the Meta-Breed.
- Even Evil Has Standards: The rest of The Meta-Breed was reasonably disgusted at Ebon's sadism in regards to the shooting.
- Forced to Watch: Ebon forced Jimmy to watch his brother being tortured for hours until he died.
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: It's made clear that Ebon torturing then killing his brother is what caused Jimmy to attempt a mass shooting but it was made very clear that what he did still wasn't justified.
- Flashback: Most of Chapter 1 is told through flashbacks as Jimmy tells Dr. Franklin what lead up to him committing the shooting.
- Hate Sink: Ebon, he is even worse than in canon since he not only kidnapped Jimmy and his twin brother, Johnny, he also tortured Johnny for hours until he died and forced Jimmy to watch him be tortured which indirectly caused Richie to get shot. He also lacks any of the cool traits that his original self had and he doesn't even care about his fellow Meta-Breed members.
- How We Got Here: Chapter 1 has Jimmy explain how he'd had gotten to the point he is in.
- I Just Shot Marvin in the Face: Kevin and Ray tackled Jimmy which caused Richie to get shot.
- Innocent Bystander: Richie was the one who got shot, even though he wasn't Jimmy's target.
- Insult Backfire: After Jimmy called Ebon a monster, he replies with "I know".
- It's All My Fault: Jimmy blamed himself for his brother's death as he told Ebon that he had a brother in the first place.
- Karma Houdini: Ebon never got any sort of punishment for what he put Jimmy though.
- Karmic Misfire: Richie got shot but Ebon is the one who tortured then killed his brother.
- Outliving One's Offspring: Both of Jimmy's parents outlive one of their sons, Johnny.
- Pacifist: Dr. Franklin, she makes it clear to Jimmy that violence is never the answer and that it will only lead to more violence.
- Perspective Flip: While the original episode was through Virgil's perspective, this Fan Fic describes the same events but through Jimmy's perspective.
- The Plan: Jimmy came up with one of these to bring his brother back to life.
- Plot-Triggering Death: Johnny Osgood's death is the catalyst of the events that lead up to the present day.
- Rejected Apology: Subverted, Nick Connor at first didn't forgive Jimmy for trying to show him his dad's gun but while Nick was waiting to do see Dr. Franklin, Jimmy apologized to him for everything and he forgave him and stated that deep down he knew he was still a good person and it just made him uncomfortable.
- Sadist: Ebon, A Gangbanger who would do anything to get his way and he would enjoy every second of it.
- Theme Twin Naming: The twins Johnny and Jimmy Osgood.
- The Strategist: Jimmy Osgood is a villainous example who used his strategic planning skills to come up with a complex plan to bring his brother back to life.
- Tragic Villain: Jimmy Osgood, the only reason why he did the things that he did was because he wanted to bring his brother back to life to make up for (to him) being the one who caused him to die.
- The Unapologetic: Ebon, he didn't feel any remorse for what he found out he had done, instead he was proud of what he did, to the disgust of the rest of The Meta-Breed.
- Villain Protagonist: The story is told through Jimmy Osgood's perspective as he is telling Dr. Franklin about what lead up to the point of him committing a mass shooting.
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Jimmy Osgood, He was forced to watch his own twin brother, Johnny get tortured and blamed himself for it and the only way he thought he could make it up to him was to revive him via the Quantum Vapor and to kill The Meta-Breed before then so they won't try to kill him again.
- You Monster!: Jimmy yells this at Ebon after his brother died.
