Finding A Loud is a The Loud House Fanfic written by Omega Ultra.

Sometimes life throws you into situations you don't expect. Sometimes it throws you a curveball, and sometimes you need help to catch it. But what happens when those you care for are the ones throwing? A different take on the "Lincoln is adopted" theory.

It can be read here.

This Fanfic is complete as of November 11, 2017, with 19 chapters total.

This fanfic includes examples of:

  • Alternate Universe: The fic is set in a world where Lincoln was born into a different family rather than the Louds. Unlike other fics of a similar premise, this Lincoln was not adopted as a baby, and is currently living in an orphanage...along with his twin sister, Liberty.
  • Always Someone Better: For years, Lincoln believed Liberty was this to him, simply because she had much better grades and he had made up in his memory that she was practically perfect. It's not until later in the fic that he finally faces the reality.
  • Blatant Lies: Liberty's new parents claimed they couldn't adopt Lincoln because they could only afford to adopt one of them. It was actually because they were in on the Shermans' plan to make Lincoln move on with his life.
  • Book Dumb: Lincoln has to work hard to even get average grades in most of his subjects due a concentration problem.
  • The Catfish: Lynn Sr's dad told him that the important thing on a fishing trip wasn't actually catching fish, but telling a convincing big fish story. So imagine his and Lincoln's surprise when they really do catch a fish 'this big'.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Lincoln doesn't have any idea that Lynn Jr and Lucy have crushes on him until the final chapter.
  • A Day In The Lime Light: Lincoln spends time with each Loud sister individually in every chapter.
  • Everybody Already Knew: Everyone who knows him knew all along that Lincoln was a talented writer. The only one who couldn't see it was himself.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Alternate universe or not, the fact that this fic takes place before the show itself guarantees that the Louds will adopt Lincoln by the end.
    • In a slightly sadder example, even though Lincoln managed to silence the voice that made him think he was worthless, and he finally realize Liberty wasn't as perfect as he thought she was, the fact that by the show itself he still feels inadequate compared to his sisters means that his sense of insecurity will simply return, only this time he'll have even MORE sisters to compare himself with.
    • That being said, on a happier example, even though they start out rocky, Lincoln and Clyde do eventually become friends by the time the series takes place, so they'll manage to work it out.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Lincoln willingly puts himself at risk to save the Louds when they get hit during a car crash. He saves everyone, but passes out from smoke inhalation soon after.
  • Just Like Robin Hood: Lincoln breaks into people's houses to steal food and money in order to help the inadequetly funded orphanage he lives at.
  • Like a Son to Me: Rita is quick to consider him the son she (frustratingly) never had, then Lynn Sr later on. The girls one by one swiftly consider him the brother they didn't know they wanted.
    • The Shermans admit that though they've raised a lot of kids, Lincoln is the one they will remember as the son they always wanted.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Outside of the obvious, Lincoln considers all the orphans to be his younger siblings in the same way Liberty is.
  • Parental Neglect: Lynn Sr's father and he were never that close. The man never left the sixties and left his son with too much freedom and too little structure. Which caused him to be closer to his mother instead.
  • Precocious Crush: Both Lynn and Lucy develop feelings for Lincoln. The author makes sure to point out that in this continuity that they are 'NOT' related to Lincoln. It doesn't go anywhere anyway. For now at least
  • Self-Serving Memory: Lincoln has built up this image of his sister as being pretty much perfect. It isn't until later on when he starts remembering that the girl could be kind of a jerk when she was younger.
  • The Talk: Rita's given this to her daughters so many times that by Luan she's boiled the whole awkward affair down to ten minutes, and has started to get ahead of herself. She wants a son, to give her new challenges to deal with rather than more of the same.
  • Talking to Themself: Lincoln constantly hears a voice throughout the fic telling him he's worthless. When it reveals itself it looks just like him.
  • Technician vs. Performer: The difference between the twins. Liberty is highly intelligent and gets excellent grades, but had trouble being creative. Lincoln has a long history of poor grades without lots of effort, but only due to his excess of imagination distracting him from schoolwork.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Lincoln's father was shorter than his wife. He made up for it in presence that made it seem like he was twice your height when he was actually half it.
  • Tough Love: The whole reason the Shermans had Liberty adopted but not Lincoln. They needed the two seperated in order for Lincoln to find a life for himself instead of one revolving around his sister. However, it is stated that if something went wrong, they were fully prepared to adopt Lincoln later as well
    • Lincoln justifies this while scolding Lola and the kid she was fighting with. Badly behaved kids don't get adopted after all.
  • Tranquil Fury: Lola is totally freaked out when she gets into a fight with one of the orphans, and instead of yelling, Lincoln speaks to her in a firm but quiet tone.
    • Justified as in the Loud House the parents often have to try and yell over their kids, which would lessen the effectiveness. An angry but quiet tone of voice is something she's never had to deal with before and has no idea how to react.
  • Ugly Cute: Subverted. Lincoln doesn't have a problem gutting and cooking up a catfish since it's butt ugly.
  • The Un-Favourite: Downplayed: Lincoln's mother loved him just as much as her other children, but was harder on him due to his poor grades, and would make remarks about being disappointed in him when she thought him out of earshot. Once she found out the reason for his grades, she apologized to him.
    • The girls think that they are 'all' Rita's unfavourite next to Lincoln when they overhear her talking to their dad about wanting a son. This notion is dispelled quickly.
  • You Remind Me of X: Lori realises that she has a lot in common with Lincoln. Both are the eldest children in their homes and both are in charge of a large number of younger siblings. Lori even jokes that their only difference is that Lincoln's group are not old enough to be expected to know better.
    • Lincoln is frequently reminded of his family whenever he interacts with the Louds.
