Deceit is (tangentially) a Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic, and a Spin-Off of the Sonic fanfics Suffer and Trauma.

Set right after Chapter 65 of Trauma, but before the Epilogue, Pierce, returning to his primitive roots, has taken over Zayla's pack as Alpha and revived the once dying village by procreating with every fertile female. He has chosen Zayla to be his main mate and birth the pup that will be the next Alpha. However, Kenzi, one of the females procreated with, is not happy and wants her only son Cujo to be the next Alpha instead. The fanfic follows her schemes for her plan, always cruel and destructive both to Cujo and Zayla. Like Suffer and Trauma, it isn't happy either.

This fanfic provides examples of:

• Abusive Parents:
  • Kenzi refuses to help her son Cujo after he's roughhoused by Asia's pups, never allows him to cry and pinches him whenever he does, starves him for a day in a very early attempt to wean him, and forces him to pour the miscarriage-inducing mixture into Zayla's drink by threatening his life, all just to force him to be strong beyond his body's capability. She's no good to her daughters either, neglecting them and dismissing her daughter Brynn's concerns when Riker has groped her underneath her skirt. She even sabotages Haven's birth and kills their baby just to "purify" Cujo's bloodline!
• All Girls Want Bad Boys: Dalia likes Riker despite how aggressive he is, and isn't even turned off by the fact that he raped Brynn.
• Asshole Victim:
  • The rogue male jackal, who attempted to rape Asia in front of her pups and then abduct Sasha and threaten to keep and groom her, is stabbed in the throat and killed by Pierce in an instant and absolutely no sympathy is drawn at all.
  • When attempting to murder Lance and Zayne, Kenzi is mortally stabbed all the way through her torso by Zayne. While she's still alive, she sees the blade sticking out from her chest and feels the base on her back. This way she's finally killed, after everything she's done—like forcing Cujo to tamper with Zayla's drink to induce a Tragic Stillbirth. She's also sabotaged Cujo's mate's childbirth, which results in his daughter's death and his mate becoming infertile.
• Brother–Sister Incest: Because there was only one male to impregnate all the fertile females in the village, all of the pups are at least half-siblings. This results in things like half-siblings Roux and Sasha getting together. The author's notes in Trauma mention that jackals will only mate with their half-sibling if absolutely necessary.
• Casual Kink: After having sex with Cujo, Haven's "wrists are bruised from when he'd pinned them above her head". She doesn't mind it though, having "enjoyed every second". Also, note how there are several bruises on her body.
• Fratbro: When gathering together annually, the rogues like to drink alcohol, insult each other and swear, and even get into the details of their affairs with female jackals.
• Freudian Threat: Pierce thinks about how if Brynn is found to be pregnant, he would go "find Riker and cut his head off. Among other parts."
• Glorified Sperm Donor: Pierce and (deceased) Lance's father turns out to have been this. Two rogues came to the village Taja was alpha of. Taja was impressed by how the eldest was able to survive in the wild, probably for as long as Taja had lived, and he agreed to pass his strong blood down. Taja never got to know his name; he disappeared the night after impregnating her.
• Good Girl Gone Bad: It's revealed that Kenzi used to be a good person until Kenzi's mate, Crowe, the last male to die in the Illness, raped her and then raped their daughter Jalna, who was only having her first heat, to death before killing himself, resulting in a scene of Kenzi dragging herself out of her hut covered in blood and crying. She was extremely traumatized afterward and remained on her bed for months, implicitly twisting her personality to be sinister and hate men.
• Groin Attack: Nova had his certain parts scarred because he was caught mating with the alpha's mate.
• Harmful to Minors: One day, a rogue male jackal comes to the village and attempts to rape Asia in front of her pups. Then one of Kenzi's pups, Sasha, is abducted by him, who threatens to have pups with her when she's older. Very, very disturbing, especially when he strokes Sasha's body. It doesn't take a minute for Pierce to kill him.
• Hartman Hips: Haven is described to be curvier than the other girls and with "thick thighs and hips", which Cujo thinks would make her carry many pups.
• Heel Realization: Riker starts his exile as a He-Man Woman Hater who doesn't regret his act of raping Brynn. After spending time with Nova, he starts to regret his actions, before finally doing so and gaining respect for women, because all he wanted to do was hurt Cujo, and raping Brynn is a really awful way of doing so.
• He-Man Woman Hater: Riker, a brutish jackal who thinks women automatically rank lower because they're women. Don't forget he raped Brynn.
• Hypocrite: Kenzi hates how Cujo "chooses someone as manipulative, conniving, and disgusting as her [Haven]". Those words perfectly describe Kenzi.
• It's All My Fault: Nova blames himself for the Alpha's killing of the Alpha's mate's six pups, all because he was the one who conceived them.
• In Name Only: Way more than the previous fics. The only things connecting to the source material are that the fic takes place within the same universe Sonic and Eggman roam, the jackals are Funny Animals like Sonic, and Pierce is the beret-wearing Jackal Squad member. Besides that, the story is a very original creation by the author.
• Interrupted Intimacy: When searching for Roux and Sasha, Brynn finds Roux having pinned Sasha on the wall and playing around with her topless body. Sasha then immediately starts to leave, covering up her chest but not otherwise bothering to dress herself. She's upset she didn't have the chance to finally have sex with Roux.
• In-Universe Catharsis: When Riker is spared from execution, Pierce permits Cujo to beat up him. Cujo enjoys the ordeal, wanting revenge for his sister and Riker's lack of remorse for beating Cujo.
• Kids Are Cruel: Asia's sons often beat Cujo up when he tries to play with them. It gets egregious when Riker and Roux beat up and severely injure Cujo when they suspect he had to do with Zayla's Tragic Stillbirth. Only Roux is remorseful, while Riker has no regrets and motivates his suspicion with the fact that Cujo is "mean and selfish".
• Medication Tampering: Zayla bleeds when she has sex with Pierce. Turns out someone mixed the fertility mixture with berries that harm the reproductive system.
• Older and Wiser: Nova is an elderly rogue who has endured the wilderness for many decades, longer than normal. He is able to guide an inexperienced He-Man Woman Hater Riker and cause him to make a Heel Realization.
• Parental Incest: Crowe with the Illness raped his daughter Jalna when she had her first heat. To death.
• Primal Scene: After hearing soft cries, Lance and Zayne go to their parents' bedroom, the source of the sound. Pierce and Zayla, who were having sex, immediately stop when they hear their son's voice.
• Rape Discretion Shot: The Chapter 15 scene is cut off by the point Riker starts to rape Brynn after forcing her to undress by nearly slitting her throat.
• The Talk: Chapter 11 has Sasha going through the jackal equivalent of puberty, in which she feels heat and sexual attraction to males for the first time. Anahi explains mating to her, of course, and keeps her away from males for reasons. Roux also goes through a similar experience.
• Tragic Stillbirth: After suffering one in Trauma, Zayla suffers yet another one when a miscarriage-inducing mixture is added to her drink. The entire ordeal is bloody, painful, and saddening, though fortunately only one of the three pups die.
• Wham Episode:
  • Chapter 15, where Riker rapes Brynn. Plenty of consequences arise from this, not just Riker being exiled.
  • Chapter 17, when Riker in the wilds meets an elderly rogue named Nova, who is said to be "older than Taja and Anahi", have gray fur, and lack several teeth. Word of God tells us he is the rogue who impregnated Taja, and whom Taja and Pierce thought was dead.
