Fanfic / Corrin in Peril

Go To

Corrin in Peril is a Fire Emblem Fates fic by Neo-Queen Serendipity.

The story appears to take place on the Birthright route of Fates, and involves Corrin being kidnapped, brought back to Nohr and abused and raped. It is up to Ryoma and the rest of Corrin's Hoshidan family and friends to save her.

The fic can be found here and is complete.

The fic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Skill: Hana, who is a Samurai (i.e. sword-wielding infantry) in most of her official appearances, demonstrates the ability to use Silence staves in this fic, possibly by using a Friendship Seal with her best friend and liege lady Sakura, who usually appears as a Shrine Maiden(i.e. staff user).
  • Adaptational Skimpiness: Camilla's outfit is rather revealing in canon, especially when it comes to showing off her cleavage. In the fic, she's introduced in just a Black Bra and Panties and black high heel boots.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In canon, the Nohrian characters, despite participating in a war of aggression against Hoshido, have sympathetic traits, and the Nohrian royals consider Corrin to be as much part of their family as the Hoshidan royals do. In this fic, they're all sadistic, cowardly demon-worshippers who abuse Corrin.
  • Adaptational Wimp:
    • Corrin. In the game, Corrin is a strong fighter who becomes more powerful over the course of the game. In the fic, Corrin is helpless and completely dependent on others. She can't even run during her escape, presumably due to being underfed and physically abused in captivity.
    • Charlotte. In the game, she's much stronger than she lets on, having cultivated a façade as a delicate girl. In the fic, Takumi effortlessly throws her down the stairs, killing her.
    • Odin and Laslow. In canon, the two are veterans from Fire Emblem: Awakening, having survived both the main game and the Bad Future. Here, they're a pair of Dirty Coward abusers who tend to panic and run for help when things don't go their way.
    • Sakura. While she's rather timid and is more of a healer than a fighter, she insists on going with Corrin in Birthright, learns how to use a bow to defend Fort Jinya in Conquest, and is among the first to join Corrin in Revelation. Here, she declines to participate in the mission to rescue Corrin, apparently agreeing with Takumi's claim that she's "too weak."
  • Adapted Out:
    • Elise doesn't even appear in this fic, possibly because since she's canonically compassionate to a fault, abusing Corrin would be even more out of character for her than it would be for her half-siblings.
    • Azura, despite being an adoptive sister to the Hoshidan royals and arguably the person who's closest to Corrin in canon, isn't even mentioned.
  • Author Vocabulary Calendar: The author likes using "crooned" for character dialogue regardless of how well it fits the volume or tone. This word is used for King Garon yelling in all capitals in the first chapter and Laslow pleading for his life in the last chapter.
  • Bit Character: Most of the Hoshidan side characters only do a few actions and prove that Ryoma wasn't the only participant in the rescue mission.
  • Black-and-White Morality: Hoshido is good and Nohr is evil.
  • Crocodile Tears: Laslow cries these when begging for his life. It doesn't save him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The Hoshidan attack on the Nohrians inflicts multiple casualties and forces the enemy to flee, with none of the Hoshidans even so much as getting wounded.
  • Dehumanizing Insult: Corrin's captors frequently refer to her as a "beast."
  • Dirty Coward: Most of the Nohrians, especially Laslow and Odin. They're all too eager to abuse Corrin, but run and/or plead for mercy when the Hoshidans attack.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: After Charlotte complains about how Corrin can't get rust off a pot, Corrin talks back and asks why Charlotte doesn't do it. Charlotte then summons Leo and his retainers, who pull Corrin's hair, hit her, slap her and throw her in the dungeon with only a leaf of lettuce to eat.
  • Fed to the Beast: Leo and Laslow threaten to feed Corrin to the dogs if Ryoma doesn't return her.
  • Hate Sink: Everyone in Nohr is warped into monstrously and cartoonishly evil villains, but Laslow gets the worst of it, due to being a rapist on top of everything else. Possibly because of that, he ends up being one of the few who are killed off.
  • Karma Houdini: Except for Laslow, Charlotte and possibly Benny, as well as Beruka and Camilla's wyverns, all the Nohrians escape.
  • Kick the Dog: Practically everything the Nohrian cast does to Corrin qualifies, but Odin gleefully talking about how they killed Mikoto is probably the most gratuitous. Even though she was an enemy of Nohr in canon, most Nohrians didn't seem to hold any personal animosity toward her, and even Garon merely saw her as an obstacle to be removed.
  • Kick Them While They Are Down: After Ryoma stabs Laslow with Raijinto, Takumi finishes Laslow off by kicking him in the face.
  • Large Ham: Leo is more fond of yelling than in canon, such as when he yells, "TEAR THEM LIMB FROM LIMB!"
  • Made a Slave: Corrin is forced to do chores around the castle, for no apparent reason but to make her suffer.
  • Meaningful Echo: In Chapter 2, Leo tells Corrin "SORRY DOESN'T CUT IT!" before having Laslow and Odin abuse Corrin. In Chapter 4, Laslow tries to apologize, but Ryoma tells him, "Sorry doesn't cut it, scum!" before stabbing him.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: The fic says that the main couple is Corrin and Ryoma, and also includes Yuri and Ignatz as characters. The two not only do not appear in the fic but are not even from the same world. Curiously enough, the fic was first published in 2016, more than three years before Three Houses was released, so Yuri and Ignatz could only have been added later.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Chapter 3 ends with Ryoma declaring that "We are going to storm the Nohrian castle and KICK. SOME. BUTT!"
  • Rejected Apology: Corrin's attempt at apologizing to Leo only gets her physically abused by him, Laslow and Odin. Laslow is shown even less mercy when he tries to apologize.
  • Slave Collar: Corrin is given one to wear while being imprisoned and forced to do chores.
  • Staircase Tumble: Takumi throws Charlotte down a flight of stairs, killing her.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Sakura opts to stay behind, and Takumi agrees with her decision, saying she's "too weak."
  • A Taste of the Lash: Corrin is threatened with 40 lashes if she says anything while sweeping
  • They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!: Odin demands that Corrin call him "sir," a stark contrast to how in canon, he recognized Corrin as his social superior and called them "Lord/Lady Corrin."
  • The Unfought: King Garon briefly shows up at the beginning to capture Corrin, but the Hoshidans don't face him during the rescue mission.
