A li'l party never hurt nobody.

This is the drinking game for The Great Gatsby, old sport. Note that this is based on the original novel, although it can be used for any of the film adaptations (perhaps with some modifications).

If you're feeling particularly brave, you could try this with period-accurate moonshine, although you should be careful with that.

  • Take a shot every time Gatsby says "old sport". Take a sip if someone other than Gatsby says "old sport".
  • Take a shot every time Nick comments on Gatsby's smile. The more Ho Yay it sounds, the more that you pour into your shot.
  • Take a shot for whenever the green light is mentioned.
  • Take a shot for whenever Tom is being an asshole.
  • Take a shot every time Gatsby talks about Daisy and his love for her.
  • Take a drink for every instance of infidelity.
  • Take two shots for whenever a party scene shows up or parties are alluded to.
  • Take a drink for every instance of reckless driving.
  • Take a shot for any vivid metaphor/symbolism/allusions that appear ("The eyes of god", "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past", etc).
  • Take a shot for everytime Nick gets third-wheeled in a situation and just observes instead.
  • Take a shot for whenever the past is alluded to (flashbacks, quotes about the past, metaphors/symbolism relating to the past and so on).
