  • Take a drink every time you die. Warning: We at TV Tropes are not responsible for your inevitable and imminent liver failure.
  • In games with the Press Turn System (Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse):
    • Take a drink every time you or one of your demons misses a non-One-Hit Kill, non-status-inducing attack.
    • Take as many drinks as turns lost if your attack connects, but is repelled or drained.
      • Drink a whole bottle of whiskey if the interface alerted you to the enemy's elemental affinities and you did it anyway.
    • If surprised and wiped by a common, weak enemy that did nothing but spam a party wide attack you had a weakness to, never getting a turn, take a drink as usual, then as many drinks as levels you had an advantage over said enemy.
    • For each turn that a boss gets from using Dragon Eye, Beast Eye, Psycho Rage, or Guardian's Eye, take a shot.
  • Take a drink every time you encounter Jack Frost or any of his relatives, hee-ho!
  • Take a drink of communion wine every time you fight God as a Final Boss.
  • Take a drink of something that's white-colored every time Mara makes an innuendo.
    • Erotically drink a bottle of said white drink every time you fuse Mara.
    • Chug it every time you fight Arioch with Mara or vice versa, you pervert!
  • Take a drink every time you get ambushed and killed without getting a chance to strike back.
  • Take a drink every time you try to recruit a demon and it gets hostile.
  • Every time a demon uses Macca Beam on you, convert Macca to Yen then to whatever currency you use at a 1:1 rate and drink alcohol that is worth the amount you lost.
  • Take a drink every time you use Auto-Battle against a boss and win.
  • Every time you defeat a Super Boss, toast your victory with a glass of champagne.
  • Take a drink every time a specific year is mentioned.
  • Take a drink every time an enemy Alice uses Die For Me! and it hits.
  • In the three games where Fiends show up in specific areas with 1/256 odds, take a new drink and drink the whole thing if you find one. If by accident, do it twice. Do not do this if the Fiend encounter was one of the predetermined ones in IV or if it spawned from the Fiend spawning tile in the Bonus Dungeon of II.
  • Take a drink if an enemy uses an attack that either you or your allies reflect or drain on you or your allies with said affinities.
  • Take a drink if enemy reinforcements arrive shortly after you've finished clearing out a random encounter.
  • Fusion:
    • Take a drink every time you try to fuse two demons that specialize in magic and the resulting demon has a physical-based build, or vice versa.
    • Take a drink every time a resultant demon has a perfectly-balanced build.
    • In games where you can choose what skills go onto the resultant demon, take a drink for every non-inheritable skill that the "parent" demons have.
    • In games where skill inheritance is randomized, take a sip every time you reroll the resultant demon's skill list.
    • If there is a random allotment to bonus stat points after fusion, take a sip every time you reroll for a better spread of bonus stats.
    • If a Fusion Accident occurs...
      • Drink to celebrate if that accident lands you with a powerful demon/persona, especially one that can only be obtained by accidents.
      • Drink to calm your nerves if that accident happened while you were planning a sequence of fusions to get the right skill on the demon/persona you want.
      • Drink to calm your nerves if you were intentionally trying to get a Fusion Accident but you didn't get the demon/persona you wanted.
    • Grab a separate shot glass and take half the shot when you get Barong or Rangda. Take the other half once you have both. Toast with a second full shot if you fuse them to create Shiva.
    • Drink to celebrate if you complete your Compendium!
  • Finish your drink and froth angrily at the mouth if you're fighting a boss and they cast (Me)Diarahan.
  • If a party member is charmed...
    • Take a drink every time they hit one of your other party members. Take a second if they kill the victim.
    • Drink to ease your pain if they cast a healing spell on the enemy. Drink to forget if they cast a full-heal spell (including the aforementioned Diarahan and Mediarahan) on a boss.
  • Take a drink every time an enemy uses Charge / Focus, Mind Charge / Concentrate, or some variant of those spells. Take another if the enemy goes through with its next attack. And another if you had no way to significantly cut the damage, such as a guard command or the appropriate -karn spell. Take yet another for every party member who dies.
  • Drink if you max out a Social Link. Drink extra if you maxed it out just before it becomes unavailable for the rest of the game (includes the Point of No Return in the plot).
    • Drink to celebrate if you max out all your Social Links in a single non-New Game Plus playthrough!

Shin Megami Tensei I

  • Take a drink every time you encounter a demon in a shopping center.
  • If you're on the Neutral path, take a drink every time the forces of Law or Chaos rant about why they don't believe in balance.
  • When you get to post-apocalyptic Tokyo and discover that your yen is now worthless, drink alcohol worth the amount of yen you have.
  • Take a drink every time a Law character brings up the Thousand-Year Kingdom.
  • Take a swig when Thor(man) nukes Tokyo. And another when God floods it.

Shin Megami Tensei II

  • Take a drink every time a demon flirts with Hiroko.
  • Take a drink every time you dance to negotiate with an enemy demon. Take another every time it works.
  • When fighting the penultimate boss or Final Boss, take a drink when they use a One-Hit Kill.
  • When fighting the Final Boss, take a drink for every sentence He speaks involving eternal punishment.

Shin Megami Tensei if...

  • After you or your partner die, take a drink if either of you receive the Jelly Man as a Guardian
  • When fighting Vine, take a drink for every party member he kills in one hit.
  • On Reiko's route, take a drink if the Final Boss hits you with Sol Cluster

Shin Megami Tensei NINE

  • Take a drink every time you get Total Party Killed by a random encounter with a combo
    • Finish your drink if they were dealing only 1 damage with their normal attacks.
  • If you manage to successfully Race Shift a demon into a Fiend, take a drink and celebrate.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

  • Take a drink every time Matador uses Red Capote.
  • Take a drink every time an Abaddon or Cerberus retaliates against your physical attacks.
  • Take a drink if you get caught in Dante Tag.
  • Take a drink every time Mot uses Beast Eye.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey and Strange Journey Redux

  • Take a drink every time Jimenez swears.
  • Take a drink every time you see a Red Shirt die, or come across one who's already dead.
  • Take a drink if you walk through a one-way door only to discover it doesn't lead you anywhere fruitful.
  • Take a drink every time Asura uses Asura Roga, and your entire party becomes enraged.
  • Take two drinks every time Maya counters a magic attack with a One-Hit Kill.
  • Take a drink every time the Final Boss uses the One-Hit Kill attack known as "MA" on you. Take another if you were at Level 99. Take a huge drink if you dodge it.
  • Every time a boss demon rambles about humanity, take a drink for every page of text.
  • Take a huge drink every time you run an Enemy Search and run into a Fiend. Finish your drink if that enemy kills you.
  • Take a drink if you encounter a Warden in the Womb of Grief. Take another if you don't run immediately and choose to engage it. Again, finish your drink if this gets you killed.
  • Take a drink if, when you talk to Commander Gore, you're so far down Law or Chaos that you're given no chance to swing onto the Neutral path.
    • If Commander Gore's Adaptation attack kills you, take a drink for every 100 HP you had.
  • Take a drink every time you take damage in the middle of a cutscene.
  • Take a drink every time someone in your party gets hit with Bomb status. If they explode, take a drink for every party member that dies, including the one who just went boom. Chug hard if the exploding party member is you.
  • Take a drink if you visit the Goblin in Fairy Village to nudge your alignment. Finish the drink if you keep talking to him to swing from Law to Chaos (or vice-versa).
  • Take a drink if the Omen Bug alerted you to a pitfall or warp tile, but you walked in there anyway. You are exempt from this if that tile is the only way to proceed.
  • Take a drink if you walk right into an encounter with Alex in the Third Sphere of the Womb of Grief, despite the abnormal Enemy Search prompt.

Shin Megami Tensei V

  • Sip if a Mitama escapes before you can act.
  • Sip if you lack the right element to knock out a Mitama.
  • Take a sip if you get ambushed by a flying enemy that you could not spot.
  • Take a sip when your navigator's point of interest turns out to be an enemy encounter.
  • Sip if a hard-to-reach chest contains an Essence that you already own.

Digital Devil Saga

  • Take a drink every time a character gets a stomachache.
  • Take a drink every time Cielo gets hit with a status ailment, unless it's during the Demi-fiend fight and Cielo has Null Sleep equipped.
  • Take a drink every time Gale says "I do not comprehend" in a cutscene.
  • When fighting the Demi-fiend, finish your drink if he uses Gaea Rage...unless someone survives it, then only take a sip.
    • Drink until you're unconscious if he does it at the start of battle.
  • When fighting Satan in the sequel, also drink until you're unconscious if you allow him to use Diarahan.

Devil Survivor and Devil Survivor 2

  • Take a drink every time Yuzu complains about wanting to leave the lockdown.
    • Take a big drink if, at the end of Day 6, only her path is available.
  • Take a drink every time Midori pretends to be a Magical Girl.
  • Take a drink when Naoya is brought up, and another if his relationship with the protagonist is mentioned.
  • Take a drink every time Atsuro calls Yuzu "Yoohoo", or every time Yuzu calls Atsuro "Otakuro".
  • Take a drink if food is being offered. Two drinks if it's Jungo's chawanmushi.
  • Take a drink whenever Yamato looks down on the incompetence of the masses.
  • Take a drink whenever Ronaldo becomes suspicious of JP's activity.
  • Take a drink whenever Joe messes up a word or saying, or gets involved with counterfeits with a misspelled name.
  • Take a drink every time you get hit with Bind or Ghost Wounds. Two if it's the advanced skills Evil Bind or Possession.
  • Take a drink every time you kill a Skill Crack enemy with the wrong team.
  • Take a drink if a team with Evil Wave or Chaos Wave attacks one of your teams, and the targeted team cannot fight back. Any bosses that can attack teams multiple squares away also count.
    • Take another if, due to said enemy team not moving, they get another turn before you can move or heal the targeted team.
    • Take a couple more if the targeted team dies because of it.
  • Take a drink for every team you kill in one use of Multi-Strike.
  • While fighting Lucifer, take a drink the first time he uses Megidoladyne. Each time he uses it again, drink 50% more than you did last time. Repeat until either Lucifer is dead, your party is dead, or you are dead.
    • Do the same if it happens while you're fighting the Ticos in Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker.
  • Take a drink each time Daichi has a Butt-Monkey moment. Take another if he gets Dragged by the Collar by Joe.
  • Take a congratulatory drink when you Rank up with a party member. Add another if you max out with someone.
  • If a playable character dies due to plot reasons, drown your sorrows with a drink. If playing the sequel, take one for each Fate level you had with that person.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

  • If you're familiar with the recurring cast, take a drink for every instance of Flanderization. Examples include Chie's obsession with meat and Akihiko's obsession with protein.
  • Sip if a party member gets knocked out of Boost is forced to pay a skill's cost in full. Take another sip if the skill fails because they don't have enough HP/SP otherwise.
  • Drink to celebrate if you beat an FOE before clearing its home dungeon.
  • Drink from some sort of Gargle Blaster any time Chie's, Yukiko's, Rise's, or Fuuka's cooking is involved. This includes Mystery Food X: The Final Edition.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE

  • Take a drink when a party member's stage rank goes up.
  • When a session activates, take a drink when it includes all current party members.
    • Take another when a Dual Art is prompted and selected, and yet another when it triggers another session.
  • When an attack is selected, but that party member does an ad-lib performance instead, drink.
  • Take a drink when Eleonora mentions Hollywood.
  • Take a drink when Tsubasa fangirls over Kiria, or if she's so nervous she suddenly uses a Spoonerism.
  • Take a drink when a reference to the Fire Emblem series is made. Don't count jingles or weapon names unless you really want to do without your liver.
    • If it's a character mirage, drink only when their name is introduced for the first time.
  • Take a drink when you create a new weapon.
  • Take a drink when a villain wants to take or use Performa.
  • Take a drink when Barry hams it up.
  • Take a drink each time a character wears something new. This only counts if it's their first time wearing it, so arts in battle involving these don't count. Counting Carnage Forms is optional.
