  • The first trailer for the third season of Stranger Things caused Facebook to crash because of excited fans.
  • On April 14th, 2019 a posting of BTS' performance on Saturday Night Live, combined with news of a deadly tornado in Texas, caused Facebook to go down for 90 minutes due to the amount of people trying to see both.
  • Facebook also crashed on August 13, 2019, when it was announced that Harry Styles was playing Prince Eric in a remake of The Little Mermaid.
  • Another crash happened on September 9, 2019, when people were checking the site after an article was spread on the site about Clint Eastwood dying (which was later revealed to be a hoax). Later that same day, the trailer for The Lighthouse caused the site to crash a second time.
  • Eight days after the above incident, NBC announcing Continuity Reboots of Punky Brewster, Saved by the Bell and Battlestar Galactica and the announcement of Big Mouth having a Crossover with Queer Eye both being done at the same time caused Facebook to crash.
  • A combination of the announcement of Mingyi's return to ATEEZ and a livestream of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as people discussing said parade, all caused Facebook and Instagram to go down for two hours on November 28, 2019.
  • Facebook also crashed when it was announced that Kirk Douglas had passed away. This is justified, as that's where the news was first posted, with other news sources picking up the news two hours after said post went online.
  • People also crashed Facebook on June 15, 2020 to report on the fact that several cellphone providers' service had gone offline for unknown reasons.
  • Facebook crashed yet again when it was announced that Lil Marlo had died in a road rage incident. Like with Kirk Douglas above, Facebook was the first source to break the news.
  • Facebook crashed again on October 27, 2020 due to a combination of the unboxing of the PlayStation 5 and the announcement of an Assassin's Creed series for Netflix.
  • Facebook also crashed at least twice when the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian came out due to many fans sharing their thoughts on the episode.
  • On January 23, 2021, Facebook crashed due to the news of Larry King's passing.
  • On March 19, 2021, Facebook and its related services crashed due to the release of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
  • On November 3, 2021, Facebook and its related services went down due to a message from Namjoon of BTS being posted on WeVerse and the results of Election Day 2021 being announced.
  • On September 22, 2022, Facebook Messenger and Instagram crashed when the release date of the teaser trailer for Illumination Entertainment's The Super Mario Bros. Movie was announced.
