Icarus Hikari is a young boy who is Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life. One day, he is met with a man who gives him a necklace, and tells him that there are important reasons why he gave it to him, and that he should put it on once he gets home.
Icarus, curious, obeys this order. Once he puts it on, he sees a bright light which tells him to put his hand out. He does so, but then is pulled in and starts falling.
Once he lands, he is in a place that he has never seen before. There are three other kids with him, who have seemingly been called here with him.
The children introduce themselves as Erika, Mikael, and Frey. Once they are done with introductions, they see the man, who explains that they are in the Deep Database.
When asked why they were called here, the strange man explains to them that the Deep Database has been overrun by Viruses and Shadows, and the Gods were made to consult the Chooser of the Chosen. They were the ones unlucky enough to get picked.
Once they choose their Fighting Style and Sync Gear, they are more or less ready to kick a lot of ass.
This Story contains examples of the following:
- Back from the Dead: Icarus' father was killed by the Shadows who invaded his village. But he's better now.
- Damager, Healer, Tank: The three boys in the group have this dynamic. Icarus is a Glass Cannon damager, Mikael is a White Mage healer, and Phaeton is a Stone Wall tank.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: The man who sent the group to the Deep Database is Icarus' father.
- Nice Guy: Mikael. Kid wouldn't harm anyone directly, and chose the Thaumaturgy Fighting Style, as well as the Healing Sync Gear.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Icarus complains about Frey's habit of glomping him. She does it because with her distant nature, this is the easiest way to express her feelings for him.
