Icarus Hikari is a young boy who is DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife. One day, he is met with a man who gives him a necklace, and tells him that there are important reasons why he gave it to him, and that he should put it on once he gets home.
Icarus, curious, obeys this order. Once he puts it on, he sees a bright light which tells him to put his hand out. He does so, but then is pulled in and starts falling.
Once he lands, he is in a place that he has never seen before. There are three other kids with him, who have seemingly been called here with him.
The children introduce themselves as Erika, Mikael, and Frey. Once they are done with introductions, they see the man, who explains that they are in the Deep Database.
When asked why they were called here, the strange man explains to them that the Deep Database has been overrun by Viruses and Shadows, and the Gods were made to consult the Chooser of the Chosen. They were the ones unlucky enough to get picked.
Once they choose their Fighting Style and Sync Gear, they are more or less ready to kick a lot of ass.
