- Bait-and-Switch: Just when Lady Jess thinks they're going to review a film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they end up stuck watching a bad Golden Age film with a similar concept.
- Birthday Episode:
- For their birthday in 2012, Lady Jess reviewed Casablanca.
- On their birthday in 2015, Lady Jess talked about the wrestling team known as the Vaudevillains.

- Convenient Color Change: Each outfit the film adaptation of Dante's Inferno changed Lady Jess into had a different colour and thus represented a certain sin. Blue was gluttony, purple was pride, red and black was wrath, the dark blue baggy T-Shirt was sloth, green was envy, gold was greed, and red was lust.

- Laser Blade: The World's Sexiest Geek wields a lightsaber.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Their reviewer personna drops near the end of their review of Kitten with a Whip to talk about mental illnesses and the creator's own bipolar disorder.
- The Only One I Trust: The reviewer is so desperate for help regarding the Hacker, they called the World's Sexiest Geek. Twice. Though the second time happened after they asked several other people who all said no.
- Second Episode Introduction: The World's Sexiest Geek first appears at the end of the The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies review, the fourth episode, and is fully introduced in the review of Sex Madness a.k.a. the fifth episode.
- Seven Deadly Sins: Throughout their crossover review of the earliest film adaptation of Dante's Inferno, the film's powers constantly changed their character based on the seven deadly sins with their spontaneous outfit changes being a dead giveaway. The only way to stop the film's power over them was to finish the review.
- Shared Universe: Because of their many crossovers and cameos, they're part of the Reviewaverse.
- Shout-Out: The Ready to Rumble review with The Rosen Hacker is one long one to pro-wrestling, complete with their own commentary team and the two of them playing the 'Internet CM Punk' and 'Internet A.J. Lee'.
- "Shut Up" Kiss: Lady Jess does to the World's Sexiest Geek at the end of their Ivan the Terrible Trilogy review as a thank you for all he has done.
- Sudden Musical Ending: At the end of their My Fair Lady review, they sang their own parody of 'Why Can't the English?' called 'Why Can't the Internet?' with various cameos scattered throughout the song.
- Third-Person Person: The Hacker never refers to himself as 'I', only as 'we'.
- Valentine's Day Episode: In which Lady Jess reviews Sex Madness and the World's Sexiest Geek tries to convince them to be his valentine, even though Valentine's Day was weeks before the review itself.
- Wildlife Commentary Spoof: During the Murder By Television review, the reviewer pretends to treat the movie's characters as wildlife.Narrator: And here we see a herd of Agathesis Cristiethisis, commonly known as Wild Murder Suspects. Seen here in their natural habitat, a mansion's drawing room. They're distinguishable by their formal attire and frequently faked look of innocence and confusion. They were common in Britain and the United States in the '20s, '30s, and '40s, but eventually died out as their audiences grew brains.
- World of Weirdness: Fool's Gold is set in the Reviewaverse, weird stuff is the universe's thing. Such as a movie from 1911 having demonic powers.
