Anime & Manga
- Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin ("Silver Fang: Shooting Star Gin") became Hopeanuoli ("Silver Arrow") when it was translated into Finnish. It should be noted that this is also what the protagonist, Gin, was called in the dub of the anime.
- Black Butler (Originally Kuroshitsuji, means same as in English) became Piru hovimestariksi ("Devil of a butler"). The page quote was naturally translated into a Title Drop.
- Attack on Titan became Titaanien sota ("War of the Titans").
Films — Animation
- The Finnish title for All Creatures Big and Small, aka Two by Two and Ooops! Noah is Gone... resembles none of its three English titles: it's called Kadonneen arkin metsästäjät ("Hunters of the lost Ark") in reference to the Finnish title for Raiders of the Lost Ark (Kadonneen aarteen metsästäjät).
- All Dogs Go to Heaven got the rather plain title Kaikenkarvainen Charlie, which could loosely be translated along the lines of "Charlie-of-All-Trades" (though it's also a slight pun on "karvainen" being the Finnish word for "hairy").
- An American Tail became Fievel matkalla Amerikkaan ("Fievel on a journey to America").
- The Book of Life became Manolon lumoava matka ("Manolo's Enchanting Journey").
- The Cat Returns became Kissojen Valtakunta ("Kingdom of Cats")
- Cats Don't Dance became Show-katit ("Show Cats")
- Charlotte's Web became Laulava Porsas ("Singing Pig"), which is completely different from the Finnish title of the book, which is Lotta, ystäväni ("Charlotte, my Friend'').
- An Extremely Goofy Movie became Hessu Hopo - rampin rämäpää ("Goofy Goof - Hothead of the Ramp").
- From Up on Poppy Hill became Kukkulan tyttö, sataman poika ("The girl of the hill, the boy of the harbor").
- Home on the Range was called Lehmäjengi (lit. "Cow Gang").
- Hoodwinked! became Tapaus Punahilkka ("Case Red Riding Hood").
- Make Mine Music became Iskelmäparaati ("Schlager Parade").
- The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat became Fritz-kollin pornoretket ("The Porn Journeys of Fritz the Tomcat").
- Open Season became Karvakamut ("The Fur Buddies").
- Recess: School's Out became Tehtävä – Pelastakaa kesäloma (Mission - Save the Summer Holidays), making it one of the few dubs to not use the title of the show in the movie's name at all.
- Rise of the Guardians became Viisi legendaa ("The Five Legends").
- Saludos Amigos ("Hello, Friends") became Oppitunti (Lesson)
- The Secret of NIMH became NIMH – rouva Brisby ja hänen salainen maailmansa ("NIMH - Mrs. Brisby and Her Secret World")
- Tangled became the rather non-sensical Kaksin karkuteillä - hiuksia nostattava seikkailu (On the Run by the Two of Us - A Hair-raising Adventure).
Films — Live-Action
- In Finland Jaws was called Tappajahai - "Killer Shark".
- When Airplane! was released in Finland, its Finnish title was Hei, me lennetään, which translates to Hey, We're Flying!. Naturally, Airplane II: The Sequel was then called Hey, We're Flying Again!. This led to a flurry of comedies, none which had anything to with Airplane!, being given a Finnish title that begins with "Hey, We're...", possibly in the hope that the viewers would've thought they were sequels to Airplane! or perhaps a series akin to the British Carry On series. Here are some examples:

- The Finnish title for the Beatles movie A Hard Day's Night was the rather idiotic Yeah! Yeah! Tässä tulemme! (translates as Yeah! Yeah! Here We Come!)
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail became Monty Pythonin hullu maailma (ie. Monty Python's Mad World)
- The Fifth Element was called Puuttuva tekijä (The Missing Factor)
- At least it wasn't Boori ("Boron").
- American Graffiti got saddled with Svengijengi -62 (Swing Gang '62)
- The Ice Pirates got titled Jäävuoren ryöstäjät (Raiders of the Iceberg)
- Once Upon a Time in the West became Huuliharppukostaja (The Harmonica Avenger)
- Blazing Saddles was called Villiä hurjempi länsi (The Rougher Than Wild West)
- Some Like It Hot was called Piukat paikat (Tight Places)
- One of the most outrageous examples would be The Shawshank Redemption, which was changed to downright spoilerrific Rita Hayworth - avain pakoon (Rita Hayworth - The Key to Escape)
- Clear and Present Danger became Isku Kolumbiaan (Strike on Columbia)
- Black Hawk Down became Isku Mogadishuun (''Strike on Mogadishu")
- Soylent Green became Maailma vuonna 2022 (World in Year 2022)
- From Russia with Love became the more literal Secret Agent 007 in Istambul.
- The Car became rather descriptive Kalmankaara (Deathmobile).
- Underworld (2003) became Varjojen valtakunta (Kingdom of Shadows). The titles of the sequels were left untranslated.
- The Magnificent Seven (1960) became 7 rohkeata miestä (7 Brave Men).
- Raising Arizona was literally titled Arizona Baby in Finland (yes, they changed the English title into a different English title). Similarly, Everything Must Go was renamed Neighbour for Sale.
- Animal House was named Delta-jengi (The Delta Gang).
- The Sting was called Puhallus, literally "The Blow/Puff", an idiom for the heist kind of sting.
- Duck Soup was named Neljä Naurettavaa Naapuria ("Four ridiculous neighbors")
- Italian Vendetta dal futuro ("future revenge") became Ohjelmoidut lihakset — ("Programmed muscles"). Probably, the most indicative title of all Vendetta translations.
- Witchboard became Noiduttu ympyrä ("Hexed Circle").
- 2020 Texas Gladiators became Texas 2000.
- The Black Belly of the Tarantula became Salaperäinen tappaja ("A Mysterious Killer").
- Innocent Blood became Bloody Marie - Viettelevä vampyyri ("Bloody Marie - The Seductive Vampire").
- High Noon became Sheriffi ("The Sheriff").
- Django became Nimeni on Django ("My Name is Django") on video.
- Teenagers from Outer Space became Gargon hyökkää ("Gargon Attacks").
- First Blood became Rambo - taistelija ("Rambo - The Warrior"). Consequently the sequel became Rambo - taistelija 2 and the thirdquel Rambo - taistelija 3.
- Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer became Henry Lee Lucas - sarjamurhaaja ("Henry Lee Lucas: Serial Killer").
- I'm Gonna Git You Sucka became Kosto elää ("This Means Revenge").
- Weird Science became Lisa - unelmien nainen ("Lisa: The Woman of Your Dreams").
- Pumpkinhead became Koston paholainen. ("The Devil of Revenge")
- Just Before Dawn became Liian myöhään ("Too Late").
- The Burning became Koston liekit ("The Flames of Revenge").
- Raiders of the Lost Ark became Kadonneen aarteen metsästäjät ("Hunters of the Lost Treasure").
- The Most Dangerous Game became Zaroffin koirat ("Zaroff's Dogs").
- Enemy Mine became Vihollisen armoilla (At the Enemy's Mercy).
- Cat's Eye became Paholaisen silmät ("The Devil's Eyes").
- Sisters (1973) became Verinen veitsi ("Bloody Knife").

- Ned Kelly (1970) became Kelly's Brothers.
- The Outlaw Josey Wales became Outlawed.
- Freeway became A Hard Getaway.
- The Hills Have Eyes (1977) became The Eyes of the Night.
- Let the Right One In became Friends After Dusk.
- Interview with the Vampire became Veren vangit ("Prisoners of Blood").
- Bedknobs and Broomsticks became Hokkuspokkus taikaluudalla ("Hocus Pocus on the Magic Broom").
- The Cable Guy became Sähköputkimies ("Electric Plumber", most likely because it's a silly-sounding compound word)
- Doctor... Series:
- Doctor in the House (1954) became A Doctor was Baked.
- Doctor at Large became Doctor's Green Stubble.
- Doctor in Love became Doctor in the Arms of Love.
- Doctor in Distress (1963) became From Doctor's Soil.
- Doctor in Clover became Doctor in Luck.
- On the Buses became Let's Go by Bus.
- Please Turn Over became Hilarious Distractions.
- Watch Your Stern became It's Best to Laugh....
- No Kidding became At Sixes and Sevens.
- Raising the Wind became Off the Ground.
Literature
- The third book in the The Chronicles of Narnia series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, became Kaspianin matka maailman ääriin ("Caspian's Trek to the End of the World") in Finland.
- Discworld:
- Equal Rites was published in Finnish as Johan riitti! - roughly "That's enough!" or "I've had enough!", to make a different pun on the word "rite" (riitti in Finnish).
- Sourcery became Velhous verissä - "Wizardry in the blood". There was no attempt at a pun here.
- Lords and Ladies became Herraskaista väkeä - roughly "Genteel folk". Note that in Finnish, the word "väki" can also refer to certain animist spirits.
- Men at Arms became Vartiosto valmiina palvelukseen - roughly "Watchmen are ready to serve".
- Soul Music became Elävää musiikkia - "Living music".
- Hogfather became Valkoparta Karjupukki - "White-bearded Boar-Buck", in which "Karjupukki", literally "boar-buck" is the name of the title character in Finnish. The title is evocative of the lyrics of a certain Finnish Christmas carol "Joulupukki, joulupukki, valkoparta, vanha ukki" ("Father Christmas, Father Christmas, white beard, old grandpa")
- Jingo became Pojat urhokkaat - roughly "Boys bold", reference to the first verse of the very patriotic lyrics of the March of the Björneborgers: Pojat kansan urhokkaan, literally "Boys of the nation bold".
- The Fifth Elephant became Maanalainen elefantti - "The underground elephant".
- The Truth became Totuuden torvi - roughly "The horn of truth", "horn" referring to the instrument.
- A Hat Full of Sky became Tähtihattu - "Star hat".
- Going Postal became Posti kulkee - "The post runs", a Finnish saying implying great efficiency in the post office, even during a time of trouble.
- The first Twilight book was named Houkutus ("Temptation") in Finnish and the third book, Eclipse, got the name Epäilys ("Doubt"). The titles of the second and fourth books were translated literally.
- Pet Sematary became Uinu, uinu lemmikkini (Sleep, Sleep My Pet). And the sign the children wrote goes from "Pet Sematary" to "Lemmikkejen Leposia"(the grammatically correct way would be "Lemmikkien Leposija")
- The first edition of The Hobbit became Lohikäärmevuori ("The Dragon Mountain")
- The original Swedish title of Simona Ahrnstedt's debut novel, Överenskommelser, can be translated into "Agreements" or "Understandings". But the Finnish title, "Unelmia ja yllätyksiä", can be translated as "Dreams and surprises".
- That Hideous Strength by C. S. Lewis became Piinattu planeetta ("The Tortured Planet")
- The Screwtape Letters became Paholaisen kirjeopisto ("Devil's Letter Academy")
- Watership Down became Ruohometsän kansa ("The People of the Grass Forest")
- Where the Wild Things Are became Hassut hurjat hirviöt ("The funny ferocious monsters")
Live-Action TV
- The Big Bang Theory is called Rillit huurussa (literally "Fogged Up Spectacles") in Finnish.
- A strange case of this happened with the show Hell's Kitchen. When the English-language version started airing in Finland, it went by the name of Kauhukeittiö (literally "Horror Kitchen"). Later, when a Finnish version of the show was made, it aired under the name... Hell's Kitchen Suomi (Suomi meaning Finland). So they used the English title for the Finnish version, and the Finnish title for the English version.
- Deadliest Catch is Vaarallisilla vesillä ("In Dangerous Waters").
- Desperate Housewives became Täydelliset naiset, (The Perfect Women).
- Kitchen Nightmares is called Kurjat kuppilat (which could be best translated as "The Wretched Diners").
- How I Met Your Mother was originally translated as Ensisilmäyksellä (literally "At First Glance", the Finnish version of the English phrase "Love at first sight"), though uses the English title when it airs on FOX.
- Scrubs was called Tuho-osasto ("Destruction Unit"), which was a pun on the Finnish title of ER which was called Teho-osasto ("Intensive care unit")
- Takeshi's Castle became Hullut Japanilaiset ("The Crazy Japanese People")
- Fawlty Towers was called Pitkän Jussin Majatalo ("Long John's Inn"), most likely referring to John Cleese and how he towers over everyone else.
Radio
- The Men from the Ministry was called Knalli ja Sateenvarjo ("The Bowler and the Brolly'')
Western Animation
- Elinor Wonders Why became Ilona ja luonnon ihmeet ("Elinor and the Wonders of Nature"). Interesting fact, Elinor's Finnish name is Ilona, which means "joy".
- Hailey's On It! became Haileyn lista ("Hailey's List").
- The Loud House became Näin meillä ("That's how we have it").
- PAW Patrol became Ryhmä Hau ("Group Woof").
- Ready Jet Go! becomes Jetron matkaan ("On a Journey with Jet").
- VeggieTales became Popsikkaat, which means something like "The Snacklings".
