The Seven C's

    Zak Storm

Conrad Zacharie "Zak" Storm

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_zak.jpg

Voiced by: Hervé Grull (French), Michael Johnston (English)

  • An Ice Person: The Eye of Sino gives him ice-related powers, including freezing others, as well as immunity to ice.
  • Astral Projection: Using the Eye of Zite, he can enter the spectral sea of Zite. In fact, it's the only way to enter it if you are not from there.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Clovis. They even have their own Secret Handshake.
  • But Now I Must Go: When he made it back to Earth (long story) he chose to recover the map that has the last coordinates and head back to the triangle to help free his crew and the other trapped inside rather than stay home.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: The Eye of Dezer gives him sand, earth and stone powers.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Gets one when he transforms.
  • Foil: To his first mate Cece. He is a hot-blooded, relaxed human boy who is prone to jokes and pranks, mostly fights with melee weapons and doesn't have much skill in weaponless combat. He is also from a modest background. Cece, meanwhile, is a young Atlantean princess who is always serious and rational and doesn't joke around much. She uses a gun as a weapon but is also very skilled in martial arts.
  • Henshin Hero: When Zak holds Calabrass aloft and speaks the words "Give me the Eye of *Element*!", he goes through a, downplayed on the outset, Transformation Sequence, wherein Calabrass becomes imbued with the respective element and Zak is engulfed with a macabre-leaning (sometimes including clawed hands, like in Blazz mode) full-armor on his left arm; his headband piece becomes a matching eye-patch to boot.
  • The Hero: Of the series.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Played with. While Calabrass is a sword in normal form, he can also transform into other weapons depending on the Eye Zak chooses.
  • Hot-Blooded: He can comes across as this in certain eps, particularly in 'Burn Out' where he refuse to let the crew rest to achieve the 'Eye Of Chronos' before the enemy does.
  • Immune to Fire: While using the Eye of Blazz, Zak can withstand lava-level heat.
  • Intangibility: Using the Eye of Vapir, he can become intangible by turning into smoke.
  • Kid Hero: He is 14 at the start of the series.
  • The Leader: Of the 7C's. Though it is a role he has to grow into.
  • Making a Splash: The Eye of Beru gives him water powers as well as Super Not-Drowning Skills.
  • Now or Never Kiss: In the finale, Zak gives Cece a kiss revealing he loves her, right before they enter a portal that would bring them back to their own times, permanently separating them.
  • Playing with Fire: The Eye of Blazz gives him fire powers and protection against fire and heat.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He's the captain of the 7C's and one of its strongest fighters.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Being rather relaxed, prone to jokes and hottempred, he is the Red Oni to the more serious and restrained Blue Oni Cece. Bonus points since their color schemes match this, Cece dressing in shades of purple while Zak's color scheme is red and black.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: Since he is new to the triangle, he had to rely on others to get info on how the place works.
  • Secret Handshake: He has one with Clovis.
  • Self-Applied Nickname: He prefers to be called his nickname "Zak" rather than his real name "Conrad Zacharie".
  • Ship Tease: With Cece throughout the show. He even kisses her at the end of the season.
  • Shock and Awe: The Eye of Aeria grants him electrical powers.
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: The Eye of Beru allows Zak to breathe underwater.
  • Super Smoke: The Eye of Vapir gives him the ability to conjure up smoke and to turn into smoke thus also giving him Intangibility.
  • Surfer Dude: He is quite a surfer both out and in the seven sea's, though in the latter's case, it is more Sky Surfing.

    Calabrass

Calabrass

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_carabass.jpg

Voiced by: Jérôme Wiggins (French), Kyle Hebert (English)

A magical talking sword, also known as "the Great Key". It bonds itself to Zak after awakening.

  • Awesome Ego: He takes every opportunity to say what a great pirate he is.
  • Cool Sword: As stated in the above section, he a talking sword that allows his chosen captain to become a Henshin Hero with Elemental Powers. He is also the key to escape the triangle.
  • Elemental Weapon: Using Calabrass to activate Zak's Elemental Powers will transform him into a matching weapon based on said power.
  • Glowing Eyelights of Undeath: Well, undead is pushing it, but he definitely has these as eyes (and considering his face is that of a skeleton, it technically fits).
  • Manly Facial Hair: Well not currently, but Calabrass stated in the second episode that when he used to be human, he had the greatest mustache of the seven seas.
  • Morph Weapon: When using The Eye of Aeria, Dezer, Beru, Zite or Vapir, Calabrass changes from a sword into another weapon.
  • Mysterious Past: Most of his past is a mystery to the crew. This often blindsides them e.g. when it is revealed he has an 'eighth eye' or when they stumble upon his old ship housing his treacherous crewmember Torg who wielded Calabrass' scabbard.
  • Older and Wiser: He is the oldest and most experienced member of the 7C's. As such, he mentors Zak.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Calabrass only allows the one he recognizes as his captain, aka Zak, to access his Elemental Powers.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: The most straight example out of all the 7C's.
  • Third-Person Person: Calabrass often refers to himself in the third person. Because he is aware of his nature as a sword, it is possible that he does this to differentiate himself from the sword.
  • Token Adult: He's the only adult in the group.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: This question is posed several times throughout the series, one particular example is when he questions what will happen to him once the others are free of the triangle.

    Cece

Princess Crista Coraline "Cece" Lejeune

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3_cece.jpg

Voiced by: Marie Nonnenmacher (French), Christine Marie Cabanos (English)

A headstrong Atlantean princess and Zak's first mate.

  • Action Girl: Fitting since her people are opposing the warmongering Lemurians, which in turn makes her efficient in combat and weapon management.
  • Apparently Human Merfolk: While she looks mostly human, she does at least have fish scales on her forehead.
  • Brains and Brawn: At the beginning, when she was only a duo with Crogar, she was the brains to his brawns. To an extent, she retains that role in the 7C's.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Downplayed as she wasn't a cold at the start of the show. However, she was rather no-nonsense minded. However, over the course of the show, she learned to appreciate having fun more.
  • Foil: To Zak. While she is a young Atlantean princess who is always serious and rational and doesn't joke around much, uses a gun as a weapon and is also very skilled in martial arts, he, on the other hand, is a hot-blooded, relaxed human boy from a modest background who is prone to jokes and pranks mostly fighting with melee weapons without much skill in weaponless combat.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She wears a purple combat suit with pink and blue thrown in.
  • The Gunslinger: She wields a pink ray gun-like weapon that can shoot purple lasers or a purple hook shot and has shown to be quite adept at using it.
  • Insistent Terminology: She prefer to call Zak 'Zak Storm'.
  • The Lancer: As Zak's second-in-command, she stands by him but also criticizes his more lax approach to leadership.
  • Little Miss Badass: Despite her unimposing stature, she is a skilled martial artist, proficient gunslinger and master tactician.
  • The Navigator: She is this to the 'Seven C' and is the one that is able (for the most part) to navigate their way into finding each of the waypoints.
  • Number Two: She is Zak's first mate, balancing out his hot-blooded nature.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: She, the first mate of the 7C's as well as an Atlantean princess, is one of, if not the best fighter among the group. She is the best hand-to-hand fighter, tactician as well as marksman of the group.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Being serious and having a lot of self-restraint, she is the Blue Oni to the hot-tempered Red Oni Zak. Bonus points since their color schemes match this, Cece dressing in shades of purple while Zak's color scheme is red and black.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She's an Atlantean Princess who is not afraid to fight her way out of the Triangle.
  • Ship Tease: With Zak throughout the show. He even kisses her at the end of the season.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She is the only girl among the 7C's.
  • The Strategist: She is usually the one planning out the strategys for the crew.
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: Being an Atlantean, she can breathe underwater.
  • Waif-Fu: Despite having a slender build, she is a very skilled fighter able to take down a number of bigger opponents.
  • Women Are Wiser: She, the only girl of the group, usually acts as the voice of reason for the 7C's.

    Crogar

Crogar

Voiced by: Marc Duquonoy (French), Chris Smith (English)

A young Viking.

    Caramba

Caramba

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5_caramba.jpg
The little green alien (left) and his Mini-Mecha (right)

Voiced by: Olivier Podesta (French), Max Mittelman (English)

A neurotic space traveler.

  • Backpack Cannon: One of the weapons built into his Mini-Mecha.
  • Cowardly Lion: He can be this. In the episode 'Witch Overboard' tries to get rid of the cowardly part, with disastrous results.
  • Distressed Dude: Due to his recurring moments of cowardice, Caramba is easily subdued by villains when he's separated from his friends, resulting in him being kidnapped and held hostage the most out of any of the Chaos' crew.
  • Extendable Arms: His Mech-suit has stretchable arms and legs.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He has created several devices the crew used on their missions, and is the one who makes sure the Chaos is up and running.
  • Hand Blast: His Mini-Mecha can fire blue energy beams.
  • Little Green Men: Straight example, in fact, he might have been a posterboy since he arrived on Earth in the 1950s.
  • Mini-Mecha: His mech suit, while big for his species standards, is still quite small for human standards.
  • Unrobotic Reveal: When Zak first meets him, Caramba is mistaken for a robot until he lifts the screen of his suit up.

    Clovis

Clovis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6_clovis.jpg

Voiced by: Elodie Menant (French), Reba Buhr (credited as Reba West) (English)

A poltergeist. He is bound to the Chaos and has lost his physical body.

  • The Disembodied: He claims to have lost his body somewhere.
  • Epic Flail: He uses an old Prison Ball and Chain as a weapon.
  • Fartillery: He uses farts to stun his enemies.
  • Flight: Lacking a body gives him the perk to be able to ignore gravity as he pleases.
  • Ghost Pirate: He's not technically a ghost, having displaced his body rather than died, but he is still a non-corporeal pirate.
  • Insistent Terminology: He's "not'' a ghost, he's an ectoplasmic-spectre-of-awesome.
  • Intangibility: Being non-corporeal allows him to pass through pretty much anything.
  • In the Hood: He wears a hooded robe.
  • Powerful and Helpless: Clovis can fly, teleport, turn intangible, and summon a powerful ball-and-chain to fight enemies. He'd be one of the most useful members of the group who could solve most of their problems in a snap...if he wasn't stuck to the Chaos and his general vicinity.
  • Synchronization: In The Voice of Chaos, it's revealed that the state of the Chaos affects him as well. For example, if he breaks down, he gets sick.
  • Teleportation: He has been shown to be able to teleport around the Chaos.

    The Chaos

The Chaos

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7_chaos.jpg
Normal (left), flight mode (middle), land mode (right)
An otherworldly, transforming sea vessel who, like Calabrass, bonded himself to Zak upon awakening. He is sentient and has a mind of his own.
  • Bigger on the Inside: On the outside, the Chaos looks like a future galleon. However, when you go further in, you see how big he actually is. He even has attack bot that act like white blood cells.
  • Cool Boat: He is a sentient, mechanical pirate ship who can move on his own.
  • Sapient Ship: The Chaos is a living ship with a mind of his own. He generally doesn't like people as he can get offended easily only following Zak's orders if he asks nicely or they are in danger. He can also defend himself.
  • She's a Man in Japan: In the english dub, the Chaos is referred to as "he/him" while in the german dub "she/her" is used instead. Downplayed as the Chaos appears to be sexless.
  • Ship Out of Water: In addition to being able to traverse the seas, the Chaos also has robotic legs to walk on land and can transform into a flying ship.

Villains

    Skullivar

Skullivar

Voiced by: Julien Chatelet (French), David Roach (English)

The main villain of the series.

    Captain Golden Bones

Captain Golden Bones

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9_bones.jpg

Voiced by: Benjamin Van Meggelen (French), Matthew Mercer (English)

Skullivar's second-in-command and the one who faces the 7C's the most.
  • Dem Bones: As his name suggests he's a gold skeleton.
  • The Dragon: To Skullivar.
  • The Dreaded: In spite of all his losses, the heroes know better than to engage a pirate who's virtually invincible or his minions that never tire for a protracted period of time and always make good their escape the first chance they get. In fact, in "Burn Out", he not only manages to sink the Chaos, but also kill most of the /C's (at least until it's undone by time travel).
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: The top general of Skullivar's forces seems to be made of gold.
  • Hero Killer: In one episode, he manages to kills most of the 7C's by sinking the Chaos. Luckily, Zak rewinds time to prevent this from happening.
  • Hook Hand: His right hand, and primary weapon, is a large golden hook.
  • The Heavy: The one kickstarting the series by hunting down Calabrass and the most prominent foe of Zak. In comparison, Skullivar only appears in a couple of episodes due to never leaving his base.
  • The Juggernaut: He is nigh-indestructible and utterly tireless.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Despite ending up bested by the 7C's many times, Skullivar's first mate never diminishes in terms of threat. The 7C's know better than to enter a prolonged fight with him. He even defeated them or single members of them on numerous occasions.
  • Touch the Intangible: As demonstrated as far back as the first episode, Golden Bones can easily touch ghosts such as Clovis. Even Clovis was surprised at this.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He has no problem trying to kill a 14 year old kid or his equally young crew.

    Xibalba

Xibalba

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/10_xibalba.jpg

Voiced by: Barbara Goodson (English)

The Queen of the Shadow Realm who was rapped inside a necklace and cast into the triangle.
  • Celestial Deadline: Xibalba could only regain her power and free herself on the night of the green moon, a celestial event that only happens once every five-thousand years.
  • Grand Theft Me: Possesses Caramba to escape the necklace and raise her shadow minions.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Xibalba is a formless shadow being so powerful that the gods themselves had to seal her away, strong enough to steal the eyes the Seven Seas for herself.
  • Living Shadow: Xibalba is described as being the Queen of the Shadow Realm and manifests as a misty creature of pure darkness.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Xibalba was trapped inside a necklace by Nine Mayan Underworld Gods before it was exiled to the Bermuda Triangle.
    Flint

Flint

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/11_flint.jpg

Voiced by: Ezra Weisz (English)

A recurring scoundrel who often opposes the 7C's.
  • Badass Normal: He is a skilled swordsman who can keep up with Zak despite lacking powers himself.
  • Enemy Mine: When the Lemurians betray him, he joins forces with the 7C's to defeat them.
  • Hate Sink: While willing to deal with him, even other antagonists have nothing but contempt for him.
  • Seadog Peg Leg: Flint has a peg leg replacing his right leg.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Like every antagonist in the series, he has no problem hurting the 7C's.

Others

    Sassafras

Sassafras

Voiced by: Jessica Gee-George (English)

A witch that helps the 7C's.

    Alan Gamble

Alan Gamble

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/13_gamble.jpg
A legendary hero in the Triangle who is initially an enemy of the 7C's but eventually becomes somewhat of an ally to them.
  • Attention Whore: He revels in the praises people sing and gets envious of the fame the 7C's attract.
  • Heel–Face Turn: At the end of his premiere episode, he has a change of heart becoming somewhat of an ally to the 7C's.
  • Living Legend: He is considered as such by the people of Marituga. There's even a song about him.
  • Punny Name: His name sounds rather similar to "All-In" Gamble.
    Carlito Raimondi

Carlito Raimondi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/carlito_3.jpg
An expert engineer and ally to the 7C who gets kidnapped by Golden Bones to built a weapon for Skullivar.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: After having been previously invited to join them in his premiere episode but refusing, he joins the 7C right at the end of Season 1 before they enter the portal to the 8th Sea.
  • The Hermit: He prefers living alone on his isolated island.
  • Distressed Dude: Due to not being a combatant, he often ends up being taken captive.
  • Forced into Evil: He gets kidnapped by Golden Bones and forced to work for Skullivar.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He is an expert engineer. In fact, he is regarded as the best in the Triangle. It's due to this that Skullivar specifically wanted him to built his weapon.
