    Central Characters

Moroha Haimura

Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (JP) and Clifford Chapin (EN)

  • Beyond the Impossible: What Moroha’s entire existence is. It’s already incredibly rare for someone to have the spiritual and mental strength to survive reincarnation with their memories and abilities intact, in a process that would take millions of years to happen. For Moroha, he has undergone this process TWICE, and possesses the abilities and knowledge of the strongest melee fighter and the strongest magic user to ever live. For this, his soul is practically indestructible, and his potential power exceeds anything a human being, even a Savior, is capable of.
  • Catchphrase: "I remember...I remember everything!" Doubles as a Pre Ass Kicking One Liner.
  • Cool Big Bro: Acts as such to Satsuki on her insistence due to them being siblings in a former life. Currently, he also acts as this to Maya and later to Elena.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: His two "Step Thirteen Dark Arts", Cocytus and Ouroboros. The former freezes the landscape into a mini-glacier, and the latter causes water to flood the landscape, creating a small-scale sea.
  • Elemental Powers:
  • Harem-Powered: In a world where people gain power from Past-Life Memories, Moroha is a rare example of someone able to gain power from two past lives. In one past life, he was a swordsman fighting for his little sister and in another, he was an Arch Mage leading a slave rebellion with his wife. All three of them have been reincarnated into this era, and only through deepening his relationships with them can he remember his past abilities. And on top of this, he also has a regular Battle Harem which provides backup.
  • Honor Before Reason: Fought to defend his recently-discovered reincarnated sister against a bully, who is more skilled than he is. At the time, Moroha could barely manifest his own white magic.
  • In-Series Nickname: Called "Jack" by Sir Edward, as in "jack-in-the-box".
  • Master of All: He has above-average stamina and speed, can deal heavy damage with his sword and light arts, knows some very dangerous magic spells, and he can apply first aid to himself when necessary. No wonder he was recommended for Rank S!
  • One-Man Army: Takes on an army of assorted lightning creatures that is capable of taking down large-scale Metaphysicals. He actually is on the winning side until the Lightning Empress sends out other Saviors.
  • Red Baron: Several, actually, with the most prominent being “Ancient Dragon” and the “Eldest Heroic Spirit”.
  • Reincarnation Romance: Given the premise of the series, this was bound to happen. Both Satsuki and Shizuno are the reincarnations of the women he held most dear in his past lives as Fraga and Shu Saura, and both are very eager to renew their romance.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He doesn't take the Ancient Dragon turning Satsuki and Shizuno to stone very well, to the point where he doesn't care if he uses a Dangerous Forbidden Technique to defeat it. Said technique is powerful enough to wipe a Russian city off of the map.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Despite knowing that he would have no chance against a Metaphysical that would require an entire army to take down, he goes and battles it anyway because Satsuki and Shizuno are both in danger.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Adopts this philosophy when waging war against Russia. Vasilisa uses this to her advantage by sending in human troops to combat Moroha.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: He is a rare case of a Savior who can wield both light and dark magic together, due to having had two past lives that each used one of those styles. And, of course, there's his signature "Yin-Yang Kurikara" which takes this trope quite literally.

Satsuki Ranjō

Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu (JP) and Felecia Angelle (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/satsuki_full_view.jpg
  • A-Cup Angst: She's not happy that most of her competition for Moroha have larger breasts than hers.
  • Badass Adorable: Grows into this by the end of the anime, and she's only going to get cuter and stronger from there.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Her past life was in an incestuous relationship with Moroha's past life. Although their current lives aren't related, she still calls herself his sister while acting very possessive of him, and is overjoyed to realize that the relationship would no longer be incestuous.
  • Butt-Monkey: When it comes to Moroha, most of the jokes come at her expense.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Just the sight of another female being with Moroha is enough to turn her into a flaming hot mess.
  • Cool Big Sis: She becomes this to Maya upon returning from Russia without Moroha.
  • Genki Girl:Tends to act excited, such as when introducing herself to her class despite not being called on at that time.
  • Magic Knight: Her prana is used for the Light Arts, making her a warrior.
  • Super-Senses: It's never discussed in-universe, but whenever a Metaphysical is about to appear, Satsuki is always the first to notice that something's wrong. However, when this happens, she often dismisses it and never brings it up afterwards.
  • Supreme Chef: If there's one thing she's definitely good at, it's the fact she can cook amazing food. Even Shizuno has confessed to being jealous of her skills.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Compare her at the beginning of the anime where she was a Faux Action Girl to the end where she's as competent as the main character.
  • Tsundere: Switches between the two types. She's actually a pretty sweet girl who's considerate of others, but her prideful exterior often gets in the way of her making friends with others. Of course, this is especially true if you're someone who's eyeing Moroha...
  • Walk on Water: Subverted. She wants to do this in order to be as fast as Momochi, but she only lasts for a couple seconds. She subsequently gives up trying, deciding it's easier to run on land.

  • Improbable Age: In a world where most Saviors receive their powers at around adolescence, she received hers at a young age and is still a kid. She can also drive a car.
  • Intimate Healing: In Episode 2, she kisses Moroha to heal him.
  • Precocious Crush: She's undoubtedly interested in Moroha romantically, and she also has fortune-telling powers and refers to herself as "Future Harem Personnel".
  • Token Mini-Moe: The youngest character in the cast.

    Other Students

Haruka Momochi

Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (JP) and Bryn Apprill (EN)

  • A-Cup Angst: It comes with realizing that even Satsuki is more developed than she is.
  • Advertised Extra: Despite being promoted in media, she has a more minor role compared to some of the other characters.
  • Super-Speed: Out of all the Strikers that have entered the academy, only Moroha has been able to keep up with her speed.
  • Walk on Water: When you're as fast her, such things are inevitable.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tokiko_kanzaki.png
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: She gives Icchi, a male, a run for his money. She's always violating Moroha and touching the other female's breasts.
  • Motor Mouth: Her Seiyuu is Yuu Kobayashi, so this is expected.

Elena Arshavina

Voiced by: Reina Ueda (JP) and Mikaela Krantz (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elena_arshavina.jpg
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Threatens to subject Shizuno to this, who tells her that she trusts that Moroha won't care, which is the first step to her becoming one of the good guys.
  • But Now I Must Go: Subverted. She tries to attempt this once she is freed from the Lightning Empress's control, but Moroha stops her.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: About as much as Satsuki.
  • Gratuitous Russian: Drops a "хорошо".
  • Heel–Face Turn: Defects from Russia and joins the heroes once her arc is over.
  • In-Series Nickname: More often than not called "Lenya" instead of "Elena".
  • Love at First Sight: Says that this is the reason why she fancies Moroha. Of course, this may have been a ruse to get Moroha to eventually lower his guard so she can kill him, but once she hangs around him a lot more, she starts to show genuine affection.
  • Mana Drain: Part of the reason why she is so lethal is that her sword can absorb light skills and mana.

  • Big Bad: She's the main antagonist for most of the anime series.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: After she's defeated, the Ancient Dragon shows up.
  • Magic Music: Some of her more powerful spells involve her singing. It's also a good cue to get the heck out of the battlefield.
  • Red Baron: Depending on the version, she's either called the "Lightning Empress" or the "Russian Terror". Both are equally as terrifying.
  • Shock and Awe: Did you expect anything else from someone called the Lightning Empress?
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Played straight in the original, but averted in the English dub, where she's given a Russian accent.
  • You Have Failed Me: She has zero tolerance of her subordinate's failures and kills them should they do so.

The Ancient Dragon

The most powerful and intelligent Metaphysical encountered in the series.

  • Arch-Enemy: To Moroha, as it specifically targets people close to him throughout his lives.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It's the final boss of the anime series, though it doesn't have much impact on the plot until very late in the story.
  • No-Sell: Can resist most spells directed at it.
  • Power Nullifier: Can dispel any Dark spell it sees.
