Main Characters

     Shuichiro Kudo
A doctor who saves Kohaku at the beginning of the story and when he tells the angelic being he has no wish he desires to have granted, he allows Kohaku to stay with him so they could figure out what wish to grant him.
  • Expy: His design strongly resembles Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
  • Friend to All Children: The children at the hospital love him, and it's noted on by the nurses.
  • Mysterious Past: It’s hinted by Shinichiro that Shuichiro has no biological connection to him or his father. Like with Hotaru, he just showed up one day and his father adopted him as his child. There’s no indication of whether or not he has anything to him other than being an ordinary human.
  • Reincarnation: After his death, the others realize the reason the Lord seemed to have punished Kohaku the hardest was because they knew Shuichiro was going to die, and were giving Kohaku 100 years of slumber so they can meet Shuichiro again.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He's described as very handsome by others and is very tall.
  • The Stoic: He rarely emotes, but after spending time with Kohaku, he slowly starts to open up.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He and his father look really alike.
  • Weirdness Magnet: After Kohaku enters his life, other demons and angels follow soon after and he ends up just going with it.
  • Unknown Relative: He appears to be related in some way to Kazahaya Kudo of Drug & Drop.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: He's slowly dying of an unknown disease that will kill him while he's still young.

     Kohaku
An angel who Shuichiro saves and tries to grant a wish of his out of gratitude, however Shuichiro is content with his life so Kohaku decides to stay on earth in order to figure out how to repay him.
  • Cannot Tell a Lie: Kohaku literally can't lie, but it's mainly because they're too innocent to do it.
  • Deep Sleep: The Lord's "punishment" for Kohaku is to lose their powers for a hundred years, but after Shuichiro dies, it's revealed He did that because Shuichiro wouldn't be reincarnated until that time is over. Kohaku agrees to sleep until Shuichiro reincarnates, and wakes up at the end of the story to see him again.
  • Expy: His design strongly resembles Noriaki Kakyoin from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, particularly the hairstyle.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Kohaku tends to float even when they don't activate their wings because they're afraid of harming the grass, flowers and bugs beneath them. They're also very friendly with any animals they come across.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: Kohaku has white wings.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: In virtue of being an angel, Kohaku is innocent and without a mean bone in their body, but it's revealed later on that, even among angels, Kohaku is so pure they're the only one able to sing to a heavenly tree to birth more angels.
  • The Klutz: Kohaku is pretty powerful, but unfortunately their luck is terrible and more often than not they sometimes give Shuichiro more problems that they were trying to fix.
  • Make a Wish: Kohaku offers to grant Shuichiro a wish to thank the human for saving them, but then Shuichiro admits he's pretty content with his life and has no desire to wish for anything. Kohaku spends the rest of the story trying to figure out what wish he could have, and in the end Shuichiro wishes for Kohaku to stay at his side forever.
  • The Needless: Kohaku doesn't eat human food as they can sunbathe or drink milk to give them energy.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: Kohaku is an angel, thus has no real concrete sexuality or gender identity. However, they are sometimes referred to with female pronouns in some translations.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Throughout the story, Kohaku begins to slowly fall in love with Shuichiro. When they are sent back to heaven, Kohaku tries to keep themselves busy to not miss Shuichiro, but when they take a peek at what's happening down on earth and sees Shuichiro holding a girl to help her, Kohaku's heart begins to hurt and they don't know why.

Heavenly Beings

     Hisui
The Archangel of the Wind who has disappeared from heaven to live on earth with Kokuyo.
  • Actual Pacifist: Hisui is noted to be the most gentle of the angels and whenever they use magic it's mainly for defense.
  • Blow You Away: Hisui can channel attacks or barriers with wind.
  • Fallen Angel: When they appear to Kohaku on earth, their wings are translucent, showing that they are no longer truly an angel. Once God rules that Hisui can never return to heaven, they're fine with staying on earth since they have Kokuyo by their side.
  • Forbidden Love: They fall in love with one of Satan's sons, which could set off a war between their realms. By the end of the story, Hisui is merely punished with exile on earth and the couple is fine with that.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: Although Hisui's wings were originally white, they still look angelic like.
  • Hates Being Alone: After Kohaku is reunited with Shuichiro's reincarnation, Kokuyo asks Hisui if they would've waited for him for a hundred years. When they reply no, they teasingly ask if Kokuyo would be so cruel as to leave them alone at all.
  • It Was a Gift: The earring that Hisui wears on their ear was from Kokuyo and it's his left eye.
  • Love at First Sight: Upon their first meeting Hisui became interested in Kokuyo and ends up running away with the demon later on.
  • Loved by All: They are adored in heaven, and when they go missing everyone is worried and sends Kohaku out to find them on earth.
  • Meet Cute: Hisui met Kokuyo when they were fixing a broken tree branch before a meeting between heaven and hell. At the time Kokuyo thought Hisui was just a random angel.
  • The Needless: Averted. Since they're no longer an angel, they have to eat food to live.
  • Older Than They Look: Hisui is apparently even older than Kokuyo.
  • Opposites Attract: One of the Archangel's in heaven who falls in love with and runs away with the son of Satan.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: As an angel Hisui has no concrete gender identity or sexuality. However, in some translations they are referred to with female pronouns.
  • Secret Identity: They are revealed to have one in Drug & Drop as Kakei.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: With Kokuyo, although Kokuyo's usually the one to initiate all of the cuddling.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Once they're found, they don't really contribute much to the plot, but they're the reason Kohaku was sent down to earth in the first place.
  • Supreme Chef: Hisui cooks a lot, even though they mainly does it for Kokuyo since he no longer feeds on souls and eat beside him.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Hisui's punishment from God is that they will never be able to return to heaven. They're fine with this, because they couldn't live with Kokuyo in heaven anyway.

    Touki
The Archangel of Water, who was sent to bring Kohaku back to heaven in volume 3.
  • Ice Queen: They have this reputation, to the point that demons are terrified of them.
  • Hidden Depths: Touki acts cold and aloof, but deep down they are gentle and caring. Though they deny loving Ransho, Touki appears to enjoy being cuddled by Ransho. Touki also cares deeply about Kohaku, and they were worried about Kohaku while Kohaku was gone. When Kohaku is set for judgment, Touki silently pleads with Ransho to spare Kohaku, but Ransho shakes their head in response.
  • Making a Splash: Their element is water.
  • Opposites Attract: Ransho is extroverted and always smiling, whereas Touki is introverted and always frowning.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Touki’s default expression seems to be a frown.
  • Secret Relationship: Is in one with Ransho, the Archangel of Earth, and they’re very Tsundere towards Ransho.

    Ransho
The Archangel of Earth.
  • Consummate Professional: Follows God’s commands without protest or hesitation.
  • Dirty Business: Though Ransho executed Kohaku’s judgment without hesitation afterwards they speak with regret and confusion over the situation, and openly ponder why Kohaku was punished so harshly.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Their element is earth.
  • The Dragon: Ultimately serves this role when handing out judgment to Kohaku and Hisui.
  • Nice Guy: Ransho is very pleasant and polite to everyone around them. When they confront Kohaku about leaving Heaven, the coldness they display is jarring.
  • Opposites Attract: Ransho is extroverted and always smiling, whereas Touki is introverted and always frowning.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Ransho’s default expression seems to be a smile.
  • Secret Relationship: Is in one with Touki, the Archangel of Water, and is very affectionate and loving towards Touki.

    Ryuki
The Archangel of Fire.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Downplayed in that it’s not that no one likes Ryuki, but other angels seem to not want to spend a lot of time with Ryuki when they’re emotional. Ransho literally runs away from Ryuki with Kohaku, and Touki briefly holds a grudge against Ransho for the latter abandoning them with Ryuki.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Ryuki is in love with Hisui, but Hisui loves Kokuyo and never had these feelings for Ryuki.
  • Hot-Blooded: Rarely do they speak without shouting and they are very determined to leave Heaven to look for Hisui. The fact that they are not allowed to infuriates them.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: When Hisui makes it clear how much they love Kokuyo, Ryuki relents and wishes for Hisui to be happy. But Ryuki swears they will never forgive Kokuyo.
  • No Indoor Voice: Ryuki tends to yell when they talk.
  • Playing with Fire: Their element is fire.
  • Say My Name: “HISUI!”
  • This Cannot Be!: Ryuki’s non-villainous reaction to Hisui being banished from Heaven forever.

Demonic Beings

     Kokuyo
The son of Satan who has mysteriously vanished from Hell and has chosen to live on earth with Hisui.
  • Big Damn Heroes: His entrance in the manga is certainly full of flair when he diffuses Koryu's lightning attack with flames and enters the scene wearing dark shades.
  • Big Eater: He eats a lot of Hisui's cooking, likely because Hisui made it, and because he promised to not eat anymore human souls so he has to consume human food to live.
  • Character Tic: When he wants to cuddle with Hisui he grabs the angel by the arm and pulls them in.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: "Crazy" might be a bit strong of a word, but he's really touchy feely with Hisui and makes sure everyone around him knows that Hisui is his. If others touch Hisui or look at them in a certain way, he immediately pulls the angel towards himself.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite wearing all black and being the son of Satan he doesn't do anything heinous throughout the story towards the main characters and just wants to live a quiet life with Hisui.
  • Double Entendre: In some translations when he first meets the cast he tells them the reason Hisui's wings no longer emit light is because he has "devoured" the angel entirely. Koryu and the others are stunned, but Kohaku asks how Hisui could still be here if Kokuyo "ate" them. In other translations, he outright says they've made love.
  • Eye Scream: He took out his left eye and turned it into an earring for Hisui to wear to show his devotion to the angel. However, it's customary for demons to do this for their beloved and it doesn't seem to have hurt him.
  • Face Palm: He does this after he and Hisui make love... without asking for their name and only finding out afterwards that he had fallen in love with an Archangel of heaven.
  • Forbidden Love: He falls in love with one of heaven's Archangels, which could set off a war between their realms. Although by the end of the story, Hisui is merely punished with exile on earth and they're both fine with that.
  • Foreseeing My Death: He figures out that Shuichiro is going to die soon and when he tries to tell Hisui he gets continually interrupted. By the time he gets fed up with whoever was interfering, he finds out it was the Lord himself stopping him from divulging that information.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: He has large dark wings that he uses for flight or to wrap Hisui under.
  • Identical Stranger: He looks really similar to Shuichiro, but it's never really addressed beyond Rui and Hari pointing it out.
  • It Was a Gift: Hisui notices Kokuyo being annoyed by the sunlight and he confirms it only really annoys his left eye. When Hisui starts looking apologetic, Kokuyo assures them he's fine giving up his left eye for Hisui as he gently puts his hand near the earring Hisui wears.
  • Kissing Cousins: He and Koryu are vaguely related and were lovers in the past.
  • Love at First Sight: He becomes instantly enamored by Hisui when he first sees them.
  • Meet Cute: He met Hisui before a conference meeting between heaven and hell when the Archangel was mending a broken tree branch. When he goes to talk to Hisui the angel makes to leave, but not before Kokuyo grabs their wrist and asks if the two of them can meet again.
  • Opposites Attract: Satan's son falls in love with and runs away with an Archangel from heaven.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: Although he's a demon, he refers to himself with male pronouns.
  • Really Gets Around: It's mentioned by Koryu that Kokuyo would romance angels and demons alike. Once he falls for Hisui he swears to be monogamous to them.
  • Secret Identity: He is revealed to have one in Drug & Drop as Saiga.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: When he and Hisui are together they become this, to some of the other characters annoyance.
  • The Stoic: He doesn't emote much unless he's around Hisui. His usual face scares Kohaku off most of the time which leads to Hisui to ask him not to look at the other angel like that.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He fits all of these tropes.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: After he falls in love with Hisui, he knows neither of them can return to heaven or hell, but is glad to stay on earth.

     Koryu
A demon who could be considered Kohaku's equal in terms of power and enjoys spending his time tormenting and bullying the angel.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Inverse, while Koryu refers to himself with male pronouns, some human passerby mistake him for a woman.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: He has dark black wings contrasting with Kohaku's.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He gets really annoyed when Kohaku is around Shuichiro and looks so happy, and at times he tries to seduce Shuichiro to no effect.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: As much as he enjoys annoying Kohaku, he hates it when others don't see him as a threat or take him seriously.
  • Kick the Dog: While his pranks on Kohaku are done in mean spirit his worst offense has to be when he helps Kohaku go into the past to understand Shuichiro... and then leaving the angel behind when they're too tired to be able to warp back to the future and would have been stuck had it not been for Hotaru using the rest of her life force to help.
  • Kissing Cousins: He and Kokuyo are vaguely related and were lovers in the past.
  • Loving Bully: The reason he bullies and annoys Kohaku so much is likely because he actually has a crush on the angel but thinks it's just because he enjoys seeing them cry.
  • Mistaken for Romance: Koryu seems smitten with Shuichiro from the onset, from licking his lips when he looks upon Shuichiro, to blatantly coming on to Shuichiro one time they’re alone. Koryu however doesn’t realize that he’s not actually attracted to Shuichiro. Shuichiro is dying and the scent of death is pleasant to demons and Koryu’s “attraction” to Shuichiro is actually his reaction to this scent.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: Although he's a demon he refers to himself using male pronouns.
  • Pet the Dog: A bully he may be, but after God punishes Kohaku with losing their powers for a hundred years he gets outright furious for the angel at the unfairness.
  • Troll: He thrives off being an annoyance in Kohaku's life, doing whatever he can to see the angel look miserable.
  • Tsundere: He claims to be doing everything just to annoy and make Kohaku's life miserable, although there are hints that there is more to his bullying than even he seems to realize.
  • What Is This Feeling?: He gets all warm and fuzzy when he sees Kohaku crying, but doesn't seem to fully understand that it's a crush.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Koryu does this to God Himself after Shuichiro dies, demanding to know what was the point of Kohaku’s punishment if this was what was going to happen in the end and calling God cruel. This leads to Koryu having a screaming match with Ryuki over his words. Thankfully this was all part of God’s plan to ensure Kohaku and Shuichiro could be together again.

    Ruri and Hari
Twin demon girls who are Koryu's personal minions.
  • Catgirl: Humanoid female demons with feline characteristics, such as tails and catlike eyes, and hairstyles that resemble cat ears. They revert to cats completely while on Earth during daylight hours.
  • Friendly Enemy: Despite joining Koryu in teasing Kohaku, they actually don't have any hard feelings toward Kohaku and even seem to genuinely like them.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: The reader can tell who's who by the shape of their jewelry. Hari wears round bangles while Ruri's are more cylindrical.
  • Perky Female Minion: They're both very chipper and adore spending time with Koryu.
  • Shipper on Deck: When they realize Koryu liked Kohaku they happily teased Koryu over it but showed support towards him for his feelings.
  • Those Two Guys: They are always seen together.
