The Immortal Solars
The personal guard of Princess Celestia. Oliver, the Love Interest of Sumac and Pebble, becomes a member as of The One That Got Away.
- Badass Army: Kinda the point, they've given up everything beyond protecting Celestia's interests, so they're damn good at it.
- Fling a Light into the Future: They have (not well-publicised) plans for bugging out, should Equestria become nonviable, so that whatever comes next has the benefit of their (and their commander's) expertise.
- Married to the Job: All prior relationships are forsaken on entry, alluded to by their Initiation Ceremony.
- Praetorian Guard: Somewhat obviously.
- Resignations Not Accepted: You join, you join for life.
- Undying Loyalty: To Celestia, and nothing else. If Equestria falls, they will accompany her to her next work.
Lucerna Perpetuum
An Ancient Conspiracy founded by Princess Celestia to help protect knowledge.
- Ancient Tradition: They've many members and safehouses in places of knowledge across Equestria.
- Badass Creed: It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness
- Hope Bringer: A significant part of their remit is being this.
- Initiation Ceremony: Theirs is seen in Princess Twilight Sparkle's School For Fantastic Foals, when Sumac joins.
- Sigil Spam: A burning candle. Yes, the same one as on the library door for the first few seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
The Corps of Gringineers
A force organised on military lines for civilian purposes and founded by Gosling.
- Badass Pacifist: An army gathered to fight a war against poverty.
- Fun with Acronyms: COG. Knowing Gosling, it's probably Invoked In-Universe.
- Mildly Military: Averted, despite their more civilian role, they're as disciplined as any military force.
The Crypteia
Another Ancient Conspiracy, this one is even less well-understood than Lucerna Perpetuum (which has been outright explained to a viewpoint character), but stands a similar goal to protect Equestria.
- Ancient Tradition: Founded by Princess Celestia, she fears they're increasingly obsolete.
- Classified Information: Pasteur Le Feu's work is as secret as it is because he's working for these guys.
The Wardens
Universally draconic pegasi, this shadowy organisation eliminates threats to Equestria.
- Casting a Shadow: Information is scarce, but they wield some kind of shadow magic.
- Creepy Good: Viewed with suspicion and horror, but on the side of the heroes.
- Detect Evil: They are capable of using their powers to identify threats, and all the guilt that weighs down a soul.
- The Dreaded: The mere mention of them strikes fear into the hearts of the guilty.
- Good Is Not Nice: Generally. Some (such as Wormwood) are Good Is Not Soft.
- The Men in Black: They fulfil the role in Equestria.
- Nothing Is Scarier: Information on these guys is deliberately scarce, both in and out of universe.
- Terror Hero: Deliberately cultivate their fearsome reputation.
The Draconic Pegasi
One of Celestia's ongoing projects, an attempt to crossbreed ponies and dragons to produce a stable species.
- Creating Life Is Awesome: There's never any suggestion that their creation is somehow wrong. In many ways, it's a continuation of the Centaurs' work.
- The Dreaded: They're mostly known from the Wardens, which means the entire species draws much of the same fear.
- Fantastic Caste System: The different castes are different control groups in the experiment that is their entire existence.
- Super Breeding Program: The result of an ongoing one.
- Super Soldiers: Part of the point of the breeding programs.
- Uneven Hybrid: The exact balance varies, and part of the point of the breeding program is keeping them from breeding out of existence.
The Stiff Upper Lip Society
A group set up by Celestia to support those who work for the good of Equestria but may not be able to function conventially in the society without compromising that, often because their work doesn't pay well enough to support them. Adventurers are a major beneficiary, but by no means the only ones.
- Badass Family: No child raised within the Society has ever failed to meet the entry requirements upon reaching majority.
- Cultured Badass: The nature of the Society encourages this form of badassery.
- Gentleman Adventurer: Play host to a few, and play to the archetype, as many of the society's benefactors are upper class.
- Heroes "R" Us: The Heroic Organisation variant.
- Spy Speak: The phrase "Stiff upper lip" is occasionally used to discuss the Society without it being obvious. This often confuses characters unfamiliar with the organisation.
- The Team Benefactor: Part of their remit is putting this kind of person in contact with those who can benefit from it.
- Trophy Room: They maintain carefully-labeled galleries of their members' discoveries and achievements.
The Ancient Centaurs
The species responsible for the creation of much of the sapient life on Terra Firma and the wider galaxy.
- Creating Life Is Awesome: They were bioengineers beyond compare.
- Deity of Human Origin: They created the Celestials in the Skyreach Project.
- Druid: Their primary magic tradition.
- Fling a Light into the Future: When their extinction was ensured, they threw all their efforts into saving life in some form, forging vaults of technology, encoding information into the cultures of other species and creating the Celestials to protect the world.
- Posthumous Character: Centaur civilisation is gone. The only survivors to appear so far are half-mad magic vampires (Tirek), the brief drug-power glimpse in Together, They Fight Crime, and a botched reincarnation into a small blue orb (Maledico).
