    Dick Richards

Dick Richards

Played By: Michael Adams Davis

A stereotypical Hollywood executive who interacts with various movie characters. He is corrupt and manipulative, with the only thing he cares about being how to get as much money as possible, quality or the fans be damned. He is seen working for a few media companies, but he is mostly seen working for Disney.

  • Badass Boast: "Oh Logan, at Disney, we don't make mistakes. We make money."
  • Bait the Dog: Will often pretend to be friendly just to get what he wants.
    • In Spider-Man Reacts to the Disney/Sony Breakup, he acts friendly towards Spider-Man and even tells him that Disney will make sure to get Spider-Man back into the MCU. He then reveals to Spider-Man that the whole breakup never actually happened and was just an elaborate marketing scheme to get people to be emotionally invested in Spider-Man, and thus make more money off of them.
Dick: We created the ultimate soap opera, and the entire world was our middle-aged, emotionally unfulfilled housewife.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Whilst being portrayed as working for a number of media companies such as Warner Bros, Paramount, and especially Disney, his behavior certainly qualifies no matter where he works. In his more recent videos, he details how he pulls the strings behind movies such as Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) to make as much money as possible no matter how low-quality or cheap his plans are and how they effect the consumers, who he sees as dumb sheep that will watch whatever is put on a screen.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Dick can put up a facade of genuinely wanting to help those who come to see him like Spider-Man, but the only thing he really gives any crap about is money, quality be damned.
  • Jerkass: Can act friendly towards those he talks to, but he will screw them over and demean them to get money. He is actually cynical and condescending towards anyone who steps foot in his office.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: In Netflix Reacts to Disney Plus 2, he points out that some of Netflix's hits over the course of 2020, such as Tiger King and The Old Guard would never had been as successful as they were if COVID-19 had forced millions of consumers to stay indoors to watch those productions since they had nothing better to do.
  • Money Fetish: In The X-Men Try Joining the MCU, Disney executive Dick Richards is shown counting the vast amounts of money from Endgame's box office. He later tells the X-Men that while he could easily have a robot count it, he prefers to do it himself because it's his kink. When he has more of Endgame's revenue fall of him, he lets out a cathartic sigh and even takes a deep breath through his nose to smell the bills of money that fall on him. In Batman Reacts to the Snyder Cut, while working at Warner Bros in this video, he says to Batman that his nipples get hard just from the thought of charging $15 per month for a subscription to HBOMax.
  • Only in It for the Money: Admits to the Joker in JOKER REACTS TO SUICIDE SQUAD that Suicide Squad wasn't made to actually be good, but rather to be a flashy film that the fans would love and viciously defend from critics to the point they would all go buy tickets to see the film.
Dick: And I've got 500 million reasons why Suicide Squad is the greatest film of all time.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite being a near-total Sociopath, even Dick can feel bad at times. In The X-Men Try Joining the MCU, the X-Men began crying after he gives them a scathing "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how they aren't needed. While Dick blames his technically human heart, he does tell them he will try to make something work, and he starts with giving Jubilee her own film.
    • Earlier in the video, him offering to get them all drinks (despite him personally thinking very lowly of them and thus not needing to be falsely polite to manipulate them) is a genuinely polite thing to do.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He often gives these out considering his Jerkass behavior. Arguably the best example comes in The X-Men Try Joining the MCU, where Dick Richards, currently working for Disney, gets fed up with the X-Men claiming they should be integrated into the MCU:
Dick Richards: Alright, I was trying to do this the nice way, but I guess I'll have to spell it out for you dumb-dumbs. In the face of the unstoppable juggernaut that is the MCU, you are nothing. The only reason you have a movie franchise in the first place was because of the goodwill created by the 90's cartoon show. The last time you guys were relevant, MySpace was a thing. Out of 12 films, you have only managed to create 3-and-a-half good ones. That's a lower ratio than Scott's screentime in X-Men 3.
    Wolverine: Ha!
    Cyclops: Ow.
Rogue: Now listen here, mister. The X-Men are a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Dick Richards: The MCU churns out multi-billion dollar movies! Endgame alone has made a third of your entire box-office! (cue more money falling on Dick's head) Endgame has made half of your entire box-office! And you wanna talk about Household Names? You guys had some of the most popular characters of all time and you royally screwed the pooch with them! Meanwhile, all the MCU had was Marvel's leftovers, and we made them into gold-shitting machines! I mean, we made a talking f*cking racoon into a household name for Christ's sake! We don't need you!
  • The Sociopath: Only cares about making as much money as possible, regardless of who he has to hurt, manipulated, or screw over. This doesn't even include the fact he puts crystalized orphan souls in his coffee.
  • Took a Level in Badass: The creators of the Warp Zone mention in Why 2019 Was the Worst & Best Year of Our Lives that Dick Richards is their favorite character because of how he went from a disheveled executive working under Warner Bros to a powerful, smug, and cynical executive for Disney, which saw massive success in the year of 2019.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He offhandedly mentions he likes to put crystalized orphan souls in his coffee.
