Maeja Strawberry/Strawberry May

Maeja is the smallest fruit in the basket and is bullied by the others for this. She is shy and often too afraid to stand up for herself, but eventually finds her voice.- Loser Protagonist: Maeja initially has no friends and is mistreated by everyone else in the fruit basket.
- Shrinking Violet: She is very shy and quiet due to bullying but eventually learns to stand up for herself and others
- Strawberry Shorthand: She's literally a strawberry and is pretty darn adorable.
Immi Pineapple/Pineapple Pete

Immi is the largest fruit in the fruit basket and therefore the most popular despite being a bully. He tries to crown himself king of the fruit realm.- Dumb Muscle: Despite his insistence that he’s very smart, he really isn’t. He is often depicted as being quite muscular.
- Hunk: Immi is often portrayed as this.
- Large Ham: In most versions, but especially the 1998 stage show.
- Suddenly Shouting: He is especially prone to this in the 2005 show.
Gedda Carrot/Kerry Carrot

Eva Orange is very beautiful but very self-centred. Her dream is to host Immi’s coronation.- Defrosting Ice Queen: At the start of the show she is rude to the other fruits, particularly Mæja and the pears. By the end, she is a lot nicer and a bit less selfish.
- Proud Beauty: Eva takes great pride in her looks and even has a whole song about how beautiful she is.
Guffi Banana/Banana Bob
