"Pain drives me, and I shall share it!"
Click here for her human form

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Being detached and depressed after being forced to kill her flock, crying and mourning them as the rain kicked up. Reader sympathies made a 180' from hating her to making her The Woobie.
  • Anti-Villain: While a vicious fighter, her sole motivations for doing the things she does is to sate her voracious appetite and protect those she sees as in her flock.
  • Arch-Enemy: Her bio depicts her as Gamera's, as the two have had many duels over the years. However, as Gamera was not taken to Equus, this doesn't apply much to the story.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Even though the rest of the Gyaos flock weren't sapient, like real animals, they accepted her as their leader because she was the strongest.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Her human form in the Equestria Girls world has odd qualities due to her mutation, but she's still not bad and even sports Cute Little Fangs.
  • Big Eater: Her Horror Hunger is downgraded to this in human form.
  • Blessed with Suck: Being sapient is no fun when you’re a social creature yearning for meaningful contact and the only company you have is a flock of ravenous animal like beasts, none of whom can even begin to think or communicate on the same level as you and will regularly attempt to attack you for dominance. It was little wonder she despised the rest of the Gyaos.
  • Broken Bird: For awhile. The lesson about friends and family Sunset Shimmer teaches her helps her get through most of it.
  • Canon Immigrant: Hails from the fanfilm, Gamera 4: The Truth. She is also the only kaiju not made from Toho in the main roster, her species being created by Daiei.
  • Claustrophobia: She nearly has a panic attack inside a car.
  • Cute Little Fangs: She sports a pair of prominent canine teeth in her human form.
  • Dark Action Girl: Alpha of the gyaos flock and the strongest in their rank.
  • Designated Girl Fight: First Kaiju vs. Kaiju fight in Equestria is her vs. Mothra.
    • Downplayed significantly as it isn't the first battle in the story that involves a kaiju, nor is it the first battle either of the two had.
  • Expy: Irys (more accurately, the Gyaos flock who eventually birthed her) was originally created to be a member of a heroic group of beings destined to destroy a great evil and save the world, but circumstances separate her from that group before any of them are born. When she eventually is born, she has no idea who she really is, and her would-be comrades are likewise unaware of her. Her life from there on is incredibly lonely at best and a living hell at worst, resulting in her eventually falling in with the forces of the villain that she was originally created to help defeat. She makes genuine friends during her time with the villainous faction and ends up coming into direct conflict with the heroic group she was originally supposed to be a member of, but through this she eventually starts to learn about who she really is, and what she was always meant to be. This is, note-for-note, a direct parallel of Tailmon/Gatomon from Digimon Adventure. Word of God claims that this was unintentional at first, but as he's used Digimon characters as the basis for some of the other characters in the fic, he later realized it was probably a subconscious choice.
  • Family of Choice: After losing her original flock and taking some advice from Sunset Shimmer, Irys adopts her teammates as their replacement and finds she likes them a lot more. In later chapters she openly calls Monster X, Gigan, and Megalon her "flock/family".
  • Feed It with Fire: While she was unaware of it at first, as a true Guardian Beast, she can heal and power up by absorbing heat and flames. This also seems unique to her, as heat and flame very much can hurt the other Gyaos.
  • Giant Flyer: She's 90 meters tall.
  • Genocide from the Inside: Forced to kill the remainder of her flock after she shrank back down into miniature form and was attacked by the remaining Gyaos out of hunger, leaving her as the last remaining gyaos. To make matters worse, she's sterile and can't reproduce asexually, effectively making her the last one period.
  • Hates Being Alone: Being of a flocking species, she hates flying solo.
  • Healing Factor: She only needs about a day to recover from a broken leg and severe scratches and burns.
  • Horror Hunger: Like all gyaos, she is eternally hungry for meat. In the Equestria Girls realm, since she ends up in a human body, her hunger is reduced so she merely becomes a Big Eater.
  • I Owe You My Life: Feels like she owes X a debt that she'd be repaying the rest of her life.
  • Jabba Table Manners: Justified for her Gyaos form but much more noticeable in her human form where she eats in much the same way as her Kaiju form, viz. tearing into and scarfing down her food with her bare hands. Sunset Shimmer notes that her table manners are even worse than Rainbow Dash's.
  • Make Some Noise: She later learns several tricks with sound, including turning off all sound in an area.
  • Mutants: Is a mutant Gyaos, much stronger and more powerful than the rest, as well as an Albino. Ironically, despite being a mutant strain, Word of God has said she's closer to the Atlantian's original intent for the species. Indeed she is: she's a fully realized Guardian Beast, meaning more accurately the other Gyaos could be described as her Flawed Prototypes to a degree.
  • Mythology Gag: Later is given the name Irys after a suggestion by Sunset Shimmer, the same name as a monster highly implied to be a heavily mutated gyaos from the third 90s Gamera movie. Though ironically, Word of God has stated in a live stream the movie version of Irys does exist in this universe, just hasn't been awoken yet.
  • Never Given a Name: Since Gyaos are typically mindless predators with No Need for Names, she didn't have a name until Sunset Shimmer gave her one.
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction: When Mane-iac mistakes her for Gigan's mate, she's physically disgusted. note
  • The Nose Knows: Even in her human form, she can track others by scent, able to smell Monster X's scent on the Siren's van.
  • Only Sane Woman: Played for Drama. She’s unique among the Gyaos for actually being a thinking and intelligent Kaiju unlike the rest of the Gyaos who are little better than wild animals. Since she’s a social animal this meant she spent most of her life miserable and lonely. The reason for this seems to be she's a true Guardian Beast as intended for the Gyaos while her fellows were Psycho Prototypes.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Is the most powerful of the Gyaos and has purple as her secondary color. Her sonic cutter is also purple colored as opposed to the normal yellow.
  • Red Baron: The Shadow of Atlantis; The Pale Scream; The Guardian Beast of Sound; Guardian Beast Eta.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Since her species flies, her body is partially protected from the effects of extreme speed and maneuvering like impacts and getting dizzy. Since she can't stand light and can release a black mist that blocks light, she can navigate in the dark.
  • The Smurfette Principle: While not the only female kaiju in the story, she is the only one in her Cast Herd.
  • Step into the Blinding Fight: She can release a black mist that blocks out light.
  • Superior Successor: Shortly after she was born, she was established to be larger, stronger, more durable, and more intelligent than others of her race. However, she is sterile. She's essentially the Gyaos as they were intended to be: a true Guardian Beast.
  • Super Mode: As a Guardian Beast, she can temporarily unlock her true power after absorbing enough energy.
  • Super-Scream: She can fire sonic lasers and erect sonic barriers. She can still use them as a human and her sonic laser can slice a car in half. Turns out she's the fully realized Guardian Beast of Sound, unlike the rest who are Flawed Prototypes.
  • Super-Senses: Navigates the darkness with echolocation and has an enhanced sense of smell.
  • Super-Strength: As a human, she can tear apart a car door. In her true form's Super Mode, she can trade blows with and lift the 100,000 ton Kaizer Ghidorah.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Corndogs as a human.
  • Villain Protagonist: Splits billing with Monster X for the Christmas Special in the Equestria Girls realm.
  • Villainous Friendship: After the death of her flock and some advice from Sunset Shimmer, she bonds with Monster X, Gigan, and Megalon as a replacement.
  • Weakened by the Light: Gyaos prefer to operate at night as bright light is painful to them. Since she's albino, she's even more sensitive to light than a normal Gyaos, almost incapacitated by camera flashes.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Sunset Shimmer thought so, which is why she named her Irys, after her pearl-colored irises.

    Anteverse Kaiju
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leatherback_9.png
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otachi.png

Anteverse Kaiju

Kaiju that hail from the Anteverse, so far consisting of Leatherback, Knifehead, Slattern, Scunner, and Otachi.

In General

  • Dumb Muscle: They're not as intelligent as the other Kaiju, and they were hired on to act as attack dogs.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: Start to be upgraded by Bagan by having them enter cocoons that will improve on their designs.
  • Out of Focus: Out of all the characters, these kaiju are the ones who've gotten the least screen time, getting only a single fight scene, which they lose, some passing mentions and not much else. Out of all the Anteversers, Leatherback gets the first mention during the group showcase of Zenith's forces, while the rest... Don't. To some degree Justified as the Anteversers aren't sapient and thus can't really interact with other characters like the sapient ones.
  • Scary Dogmatic Aliens: They join just from the promise of conquest.

    Gaira

Gaira

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gaira_by_pyrus_leonidas_d91ge3s.png

  • Adaptational Badass: Canon Gaira was half the size of the Showa Era kaiju and weak enough the military was an actual threat to him. Here he's the same size as the rest and much stronger.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: Like in the movie he and his brother Sanda debuted in, Gaira was born from the remains of Frankenstein's monster. Unlike the movie, the brothers are born directly from the remains of the original monster, skipping the events of Frankenstein Vs Baragon.
  • Healing Factor: He only needs about a day to recover from the most grievous of injuries.
  • Psycho for Hire: Is a psychopathic cannibal that actively targets humans. Bagan only has to offer him a chance to gorge himself on their victims.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Tries to ambush the injured Hyper Gyaos after she kills off the rest of flock in self-defense, and gets his hand cut off for it. Only stops trying after Monster X beats the crap out of him and severely mutilates the other arm before tossing him away. This happens after the Big Bad Bagan states that he does not tolerate infighting among his troops.
  • Villainous Glutton: Joins just so he can gorge himself off the group's conquests.

     Gigan

Gigan

"Another day, another job. Time to get this over with."
Click here for his human form

Before he was a full cyborg.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Much less sadistic than his canon counterpart, being a mercenary for hire that doesn't particularly care about the wars he ends up in. He also genuinely cares for his little brother and his best friend Monster X.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Tries and just barely fails to snap Monster X out of it when the latter starts turning back into Kaizer Ghidorah and goes on a rampage. You feel for the guy when Megalon and Irys carry his injured body away after Bagan teleports Kaizer away.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: To him. Mane-iac gets a crush on him after he sliced through her mane (he was trying to get her to let go of him so she'd fall to her death), declaring him the perfect barber. Gigan develops a new phobia.
  • Artificial Limbs: Of the Blade Below the Shoulder variety.
  • Bash Brothers: He and Monster X are old war comrades.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He can survive in a vacuum and fly through space unaided.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Yes Megalon gets on his nerves, but Gigan still does care about him. When Monster X goes on a rampage due to turning back into a crazed Kaizer Ghidorah, Gigan is quick to put himself between the out of control X and Megalon.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Both of his forearms are replaced with bladed scythes. He can replace the scythes with double-bladed chainsaws like in his appearance in Final Wars.
  • Break the Haughty: Suffers a spectacular one after realizing Godzilla was holding back and trying not to kill him in their fight.
  • Cannot Dream: He says his brain is configured in a way that he does not dream. The best he can do is replay his own memories while he sleeps.
  • Chainsaw Good: Has a buzzsaw blade in his stomach. He replaces the scythes on his arms with double-bladed chainsaws in his fight with Kaizer Ghidorah.
  • Chick Magnet: Mane-iac and Gloriosa Daisy are both attracted to him, and he also has some Ship Tease with Adagio Dazzle.
  • Composite Character: His appearance is most like the Millennium Age Gigan, but his origin as a Nebula M cyborg is from the Showa incarnation. The ability to teleport and fire a long range beam in addition to the Millennium age "shotgun blast" comes from the Pipeworks-Atari games. Like the IDW version, he started with the green-gold Showa look in his backstory and was upgraded to the current dark blue-gray.
  • Cyber Cyclops: He's a cyborg kaiju with one eye in his true form.
  • Cyborg: Hard to tell how much is machine and how much is organic though.
  • Does Not Like Magic: Feels uncomfortable in magical realms like Equestria and states that magic just doesn't make any sense, as his internal scanners cannot make heads or tails of magical energy. To him, at least all of his abilities work according to the laws of physics.
  • Electronic Eyes: Has one behind his visor, apparently with a lot of display modes judging from the POV shot. He retains them in his human form.
  • Explosive Overclocking: By pushing his cyborg body to the limit, he manages to match and then get the better of Kaizer Ghidorah, but then his parts give out, leaving his body absolutely wrecked.
  • Eye Beams: Can fire a powerful laser from his eye, either with a short ranged shotgun-like blast wave or a long range incendiary beam.
  • Healing Factor: His bio mentions he has one, but since he's a cyborg, only injuries to his organic parts will heal and he requires repair for his mechanical parts.
  • Hook Hand: Has scythes in place of actual hands.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Has one with a berserk Monster X as X is turning back into Kaizer Ghidorah, taking heavy damage in the process. Thanks to King Ghidorah interfering, he just barely fails.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Boy in this case. In his human form, he strips because he didn't want to get his clothes dirty, and gets confused why Gloriosa Daisy gets embarrassed.
  • The Internet Is for Porn: Hacked into the internet once during Final Wars to try and learn about Terra to develop battle strategies. Upon looking up the words "Tentacle" and "Tendril", however...
-he realized he’d made a horrible, horrible mistake.
  • Man of Kryptonite: The author said he was designed to fight the Ultras, as they are resistant to beams, but not blades.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: He considers himself a professional and prefers to finish his missions as quickly as possible.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He's a mercenary. He never really cares about his employers' plans and only fights in exchange for keeping his body maintained.
  • Red Baron: The Nebulan Enforcer.
  • Robo Family: He and Megalon come from the same series of Nebulan cyborgs, essentially making them brothers with Gigan being the earlier one. Even if Megalon tends to get on his nerves, Gigan still acknowledges him as family and refers to Megalon as his "little brother".
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Does this when he runs into Mane-iac again during the Valentine's Day special. In the distance, Megalon instantly recognizes it, which confuses Irys because Gigan's regular voice is deep.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Having had a former encounter with the monstrosity, he's the only kaiju on the Hunters team who was aware of Kaizer Ghidorah's existence within Monster X until recently. An odd example as due to amnesia, not even Monster X is aware of his alter-ego.
  • Straight Man: Whether he's on a mission or not, he's always a no-nonsense kind of guy. Unfortunately for him, he's an absolute magnet for nonsense.
  • Sinister Scythe: His blades resemble scythes.
  • Swap Teleportation: Gigan has the ability to teleport via a "warp drive", where he swaps position with an equal amount of volume at point B, resulting in a Gigan-sized and -shaped hunk of matter left behind.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In chapter 39, he gets upgraded, and becomes powerful enough to do serious damage to and grapple with Grand King Ghidorah.
  • Variable-Length Chain: Can launch a pair of grappling cables from launchers just below his scythes. Comes in handy for snagging something to either yank towards him or pull someone away from danger.
  • Villainous BSoD: After running into Mane-iac again in the Valentine's special, and getting zero help from Megalon, he freezes up completely and goes into shock. Upon looking at his robotic eyes, we find he literally got a blue screen via the cyborg version of a heart attack.
  • Villainous Friendship: He, Monster X, and Megalon (though the latter annoys Gigan greatly) do genuinely get along. He later seems to have accepted Irys into their group without issue.
  • Weaponized Teleportation: Multiple:
    • Tries to do this by teleporting himself and Mane-iac high into the air and dropping her, only for Toon Physics to save her, to his shock.
    • Actually does manage to pull this off against Grand King Ghidorah by flying straight down at the ground and then teleporting back up to fly down again, repeated it enough times to hit terminal velocity and build up momentum for one big strike.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: His body used to be significantly less mechanical. Then Kaizer Ghidorah savagely mauled him and his masters decided it was simpler to discard the damaged flesh and rebuild him with more machinery rather than try to repair the organic tissue.

     Grand King Ghidorah

Grand King Ghidorah

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grand_king_ghidorah_by_pyrus_leonidas_d8vsuyw.png
"Temper temper X... I merely wanted to test the waters. A mind such as yours is such an interesting toy..."

  • Achilles' Heel: He can survive a massive amount of punishment, but the core in his chest acts as both his heart and brain, as well as serving as the container for the souls he's devoured. As such, if it can be hit, he would be in serious danger. Junior splits it in two during his and Xenilla's fight with him, allowing the captured souls to rip out of Ghidorah in mass and inflict even more damage on their way out, though it still takes a triple Spiral fire Ray to kill Ghidorah.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Destroys planets just to get more power, sees himself as a perfect life form, and Mind Rapes and slaughters others for amusement.
  • Arch-Enemy:
    • As one would expect, he is Junior and Mothra Lea's.
    • He's this to Reijuu/Bagan. It doesn't matter if Reijuu is good or evil or what his intentions are, Ghidorah has spent eons trying to become or find something that can kill him. Finding out Bagan is an Omnicidal Maniac did nothing to change Ghidorah's desire to create something to destroy him.
  • Avenging the Villain: Attacked Terra in the past due to the death of his younger brother DesGhidorah for the sake of his own pride.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He regularly travels through space unaided to get to planets he wants to exterminate.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: He serves as the main antagonist of Paradise Lost alongside Empera, whom he forms a Villain Team-Up with.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: His brain is housed in his chest instead of any of his heads. As a result, he could theoretically survive a triple-decapitation. His wings are actually an extended rib cage.
  • Breath Weapon: Lightning-like, graviton beams from each of his mouths.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Literally. He regularly taunts and bullies Monster X despite knowing about the more powerful Kaizer Ghidorah transformation. This is because he actually wants Kaizer to emerge.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Invoked: he reveals he knows Bagan's true identity, attacks him, and outright admits to being The Starscream to his face, all because he knows this trope is in effect and he's too important to silence, so he can get away with it.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Played for Drama: Grand King Ghidorah is fully aware of the fact he's a planet killing psychopath and enjoys every minute of it. He was even the one to dub himself the 'King of Terror' when forming a Villain Team-Up with Empera. The fact he's one of the most powerful beings in the entire galaxy, this only serves to make him an even more terrifying enemy.
  • Climax Boss: Godzilla's archenemy and nearly everything bad in the series can be tracked back to him in some fashion (he's in part responsible for Bagan in the first place, caused Monster X and the evil Xilians to exist, and a number of other things), and his fight marks the Godzilla family finally mending and uniting together against a single threat.
  • Composite Character: Of his Showa Era and Rebirth Trilogy selves, having the design of the latter and the acts of both.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Tells Bagan to his face he knows he's Reijuu, attacks him, and outright admits he plans to inevitably betray him. He gets away with it because he knows he's too important to Bagan's plans to kill, and tells him such.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Very clear he will not be under someone else's power for long, he's just biding his time. He admits as much to Bagan's face when he reveals he knew he was Reijuu. That agenda is finding something to kill his nemesis.
  • Dramatic Irony: He has no idea his new boss used to be Reijuu, the former hero who helped defeat DesGhidorah and force him to retreat from Terra back in the late Cretaceous. Subverted, ultimately. He was aware Bagan was Reijuu and reveals as much to him.
  • The Dreaded: Irys mentions that all her senses tell her to run away when she's around him. He's also feared for regularly wiping out planets. It is confirmed Godzilla Junior is afraid of him. All living things from Terra inherently fear him due to being descendants of the survivors of his original rampage there.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Averted, according to Word of God. He came back to Terra to avenge his slighted pride rather than for any familial affection he held DesGhidorah. In fact, had the two not been separated by his brother's imprisonment, one of them would have most likely slain the other eventually.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good:
    • He's left completely bewildered that Junior rejected Nightmare and the power that came with it, unable to understand Junior didn't want such power at the price of losing himself.
    • He simply can't understand how someone as strong as Junior could 'waste' his immense power protecting humanity instead of ruling them as a god or destroying them at leisure.
    • He doesn't understand Xenilla's brotherly love towards his brother, as Ghidorah lacked any such feelings for his own brother and inevitably one of them would've killed the other eventually. This is ultimately his undoing, as it causes him to discount the possibility Xenilla may have dropped Junior because of Junior's own plans, leaving him wide open to being impaled through the back while Xen uses The Power of Love to hold Ghidorah in place.
    • He doesn't comprehend the concept of bonds period. This is a big weakness in a world where bonds are a legitimate power source, which ultimately results in him being done in by The Power of Love.
  • Evil Is Bigger: Godzilla Junior, resident Big Good kaiju, 100 meters. King Ghidorah, resident bastard, 150 meters.
  • Evilutionary Biologist: Part of why he does what he does, other than sheer sadism and A God Am I, is to create 'an ultimate' as he puts it. Cull the weak and lead to the creation of something strong enough to destroy Reijuu/Bagan.
  • Expy: His personality is a blend of various Large Ham tyrants. Tarbtano cites Cooler, Smaug, Shao Khan, Master Org, and Visser Three as inspirations.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Double Subverted. He states he's well aware he will die soon due to the growing number of beings capable of actually challenging his power, but doesn't seem all that upset about it. When he's actually on the verge of death, however, he has a Villainous Breakdown and rages against fate for denying him his one wish before he dies...until he realizes he got it after all and Goes Out With a Smile.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride. Ghidorah has very few weaknesses, but one of his biggest is he's so proud that he rarely takes opponents seriously, and thus can be taken off guard due to underestimating them. It's ultimately the cause of his demise, as twice during the final battle he underestimates Junior's ability to survive and counts him dead, and both times it bites him in the tail.
  • For the Evulz: Regularly kills and destroys since he sees it as simply as part of his nature to do so, and enjoys every second of it. In one of his attacks on a planet, as detailed in his backstory, he didn't even land, and instead sowed paranoia until the civilization on the planet destroyed himself. Why? He was bored.
  • A God Am I: He's so powerful that he often calls others cockroaches before a god compared to him. He also claims that as a god, he can do whatever he feels like and kill when he wants.
  • Go Out with a Smile: When Godzilla Junior, Xenilla, and Godzilla Senior finally kill him, he smiles and dies content, confident they are powerful enough to kill Bagan.
  • Gravity Master: He can levitate things and even use it to fly when his wings are broken. He can even distort gravity enough to dilate time, creating areas where time flows faster or slower than normal. A correspondent of Tarbtano; Corona Blaze states that Ghidorahs in general are masters of gravity, one of the 4 fundamental forces of Physics in the Terran universe.
  • Healing Factor: Says a massive gash Gigan opened on his back will heal in a matter of hours. He also grew back one of his necks and heads after Kaizer Ghidorah tore it out.
  • Hero Killer: In the past, he has killed many of the Ultra race, plus the original Zone Fighter.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard:
    • Every soul he ever absorbed is set free by Junior. They proceed to help Godzilla Sr. temporarily return from the afterlife with aid from Harmony, allowing him to help his sons destroy Ghidorah once and for all.
    • Triggering the Nightmare Godzilla incident ends up backfiring by allowing Rarity to capture Nightmare and weakening the entity enough so that the fashionista could force Nightmare to obey her. The result is Nightmare Rarity launching Enjin into Ghidorah, blowing his wing off right as Ghidorah was about to use it to sucker punch Xenilla and Junior during their Beam-O-War.
  • Hypocrite: Despite his belief in fate being the cause of everything, he has a Villainous Breakdown when he believes it would allow him to die without his dreams being fulfilled despite being very happy to inflict the same on everyone else.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Junior launches himself dorsal spine first into Ghidorah, running him through on the largest one through the wound the Dark Hunters inflicted on him. More importantly, he also impaled Ghidorah's core and released every soul the King of Terror had ever consumed.
  • Inevitable Mutual Betrayal:
    • Either he or DesGhidorah would have inevitably have killed the other one at some point had they not been separated, something at least Ghidorah was well aware of.
    • He and Bagan are well aware the other will kill them if the situation presents itself where they are both able to do so and no longer need the other, something Ghidorah makes no attempt to hide. He instead makes himself too important for Bagan to kill at the moment so he can continue his plans.
  • Infernal Retaliation: Megalon manages to set him on fire, but he just keeps coming, not paying the flames any mind.
  • Insistent Terminology: He expects to be called King Ghidorah, not just Ghidorah.
  • It Amused Me: His reason for working for various alien races and then working for the Big Bad.
  • Jerkass: Constantly taunts Monster X about their relation and his fractured memories.
  • Karmic Death: The countless souls he'd consumed are liberated by Junior fracturing his core and proceed to allow Godzilla Sr. to return from the afterlife long enough to help his sons kill Ghidorah. What's more, Rarity plays a major role in his demise by foiling his attempt to sucker punch the brothers during their Beam-O-War by using Nightmare to defeat Enjin and throw it into his wing after Ghidorah manipulated things in a way that resulted in Nightmare possessing Godzilla.
  • Killed Off for Real: Is killed by Xenilla, Junior, and the ghost of Godzilla Sr. with the help of Rarity, Harmony, and the souls he'd sealed inside himself until Junior freed them.
  • Last Ditch Move: After being mortally wounded by having his core split in two, he attempts a Taking You with Me on Junior and Xenilla by throwing every last bit of power he has left into a Wave-Motion Gun capable of leveling a continent. The two manage to use their Spiral Fire Ray in conjunction with their father's spirit to overpower it and destroy him for good.
  • Light Is Not Good: He's golden colored and his body shines when using his powers, but he is one sick piece of work.
  • Logical Weakness: His scales are what gives him amazing beam resistance and offer great protection in general, but the tissue underneath is both softer (though not to an incredible degree) and lack the beam resistance. This means while extremely difficult to hurt in the first place, once his scale layer is compromised it creates a weakspot much easier to attack and capable of being damaged by beam attacks. Godzilla Jr. exploits this to run him through by aiming his largest dorsal spine into the wound the Dark Hunters created on his back.
  • Long Game: Ever since being defeated by Reijuu the first time, everything he's done was at least in part for the goal of either becoming strong enough to defeat him, or finding someone else strong enough to do it.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: He enjoys hearing his victims cry, scream, and beg for their lives.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: When Gigan manages to slash him across the back, he screams and thrashes for a short time, then abruptly calms down and then starts casually talking and walking around with the injury still dripping blood. The action freaks Gigan out.
  • Mass Teleportation: He can teleport everyone in a town to parts unknown, such as Zenith, which is a nod to the third Rebirth of Mothra movie.
  • Mind over Matter: He's skilled enough to rearrange rubble into a throne. He's strong enough to rip a mountain apart.
  • Mind Rape: He can look into people's minds, bring up their memories, cause them pain in the process, erase memories, and brainwash. To exemplify this is when he induced an entire planet's population with so much artificial paranoia and hatred, that it was already destroying itself before he did. He can even invade Princess Celestia's dreams and turn her into Daybreaker against her will. However, Luna's own mental abilities are sufficient enough to counter it.
  • Moral Myopia: Is willing to ruin worlds, perform mass murder, and generally be an utter monster, but gets furious when he thinks Xenilla denied him the fight he wanted from Junior or that fate denied him his one wish.
  • Mr. Exposition: He is reluctantly convinced to reveal Monster X's past to Gigan, Megalon, and Irys.
  • Multiple Head Case: Averted. Despite having three heads, he always thinks, speaks, and is referred to as one individual being. Word of God explains that this is due to Bizarre Alien Biology, and that none of Ghidorah's heads actually contain a brain. He instead has a single brain that's housed in his chest.
  • No Body Left Behind: There's nothing left after his death, as the Father-Sons Spiral Fire Ray de-atomized him.
  • No-Sell: As he puts it, napalm fire is not hot enough to make him care. Junior's Burning Form, however, is.
  • Not Afraid to Die: As he explains to Bagan, he wants Kaizer Ghidorah to emerge permanently, even if this means Kaizer will eventually kill him, because Kaizer will take his place as a world ender.
  • Not Brainwashed: Eventually reveals that the various aliens he's worked for never controlled him at all: he was just pretending to be controlled because he found it amusing, it suited his needs, and he wanted to run around destroying worlds anyway.
  • Off with His Head!: Kaizer Ghidorah ripped off his left head during their first battle 370 years ago. It eventually grew back, but he still bears a long scar all around his neck, concealed by his scales.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Wanders around wiping out planets both for fun and to harvest the souls of the inhabitants.
  • Phlebotinum Killed the Dinosaurs: He and his little brother DesGhidorah wiped out the dinosaurs long ago.
  • Pitiful Worms: Mocks everyone by calling them worms, cockroaches, grubs, etc.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • Despite wanting to kill Gigan, Megalon, and Irys, he decides to wait until he can get away with it without being punished by their leader.
    • When he sees what Starlight Glimmer can do, he spares her life even though she attacked him and instead tweaks her mind to make her a minion.
  • Primal Fear: A walking version of it. Just being around him set off a lot of creature's survival instincts to get away from him as fast as possible. This is because all sapient beings native to Earth are descendants of the survivors of his original attack, so the survival instinct to stay away from him is coded into their genes.
  • Psycho Electro: Has Shock and Awe abilities and is one of the few characters who are genuinely, unrepentantly evil in every way.
  • Psycho for Hire: The only thing Bagan can really offer him as reward for his help is getting to kill and destroy things. And even then, he has to threaten Ghidorah's life to stop him from murdering his own teammates. He eventually reveals he only pretended to be under the control of various alien races because it served his needs, meaning he's never been forced to destroy a planet and only did it because he felt like it.
  • Rage Quit: The asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs happened because he was enraged at being driven off world and basically did it out of spite.
  • Rasputinian Death: Gets a number of heavy wounds fighting the Dark Hunters, has some of his scales melted off by Junior in his Burning form, receives still more damage of the same sort from Xenilla, gets one of his sets of jaws broken by Junior, is impaled through the core (the organ acting as both his heart and brain) on Junior's back spines through a wound the Hunters inflicted, and only dies when hit with a triple Spiral Fire Ray from the two brothers and the ghost of their father which was powerful enough to overpower Ghidorah's continent busting Wave-Motion Gun.
  • Red Baron: The King of Terror.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In canon, there's no connection between Grand King Ghidorah and DesGhidorah despite the similarities between them. In this version, they're brothers.
  • Secretly Dying: How he sees himself, at least. He's well aware there are more beings capable of standing up to him than ever before and thus in his mind he might as well be dying even if nothing is actually killing him at the moment. He was right, as he's killed by the Godzilla Dynasty with aid from Harmony, the souls of his victims, and Rarity.
  • Seers: With intense meditation, he can see visions of the past and future, but he hasn't mastered it, so his visions are brief and incoherent.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Xenilla. Both justify their villainy as being towards the goal of culling the weak and forcing beings to grow stronger. The difference is Xenilla hated himself for it but viewed it as Necessarily Evil he does out of love for his brother and protectiveness of Terra while Grand King Ghidorah enjoys every minute of it and doesn't care about anyone except himself.
  • Shock and Awe: Can release lightning from his wings.
  • The Sociopath: Destroys to appease himself, manipulates and kills for pleasure, and views everyone as inferior to him.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: The events of Rebirth of Mothra 3 still happened, but due to Junior's presence, he was merely driven off rather than Lea having to go back in time to fight his young self and become Armor Mothra to kill him. He's later killed by Xenilla, Junior, and Godzilla Sr.'s ghost with some aid from Rarity and Harmony.
  • The Starscream: While he wouldn't mind winning, of course, after being impressed by Celestia and Luna's power, he secretly hopes the Equestrians prove powerful enough to defeat his side, just so he can see Bagan lose.
  • Super-Senses: He can hear another creature's echolocation.
  • Super-Speed: He can fly at Mach 3 in an atmosphere and faster in short bursts. He can fly even faster in outer space.
  • Super-Strength: In their first fight in 1999, he effortlessly picked up the 60,000 ton Godzilla Junior and threw him several hundred meters. So far, only Kaizer Ghidorah, Destroyah, and Orga can rival him in terms of brute force.
  • Super-Toughness: Most attacks (even Gigan's blades and Megalon's drills, which can injure Godzilla) can't penetrate his hide unless they have a lot of momentum.
  • Taking You with Me: After being impaled through the core by Godzilla Junior, with his countless stolen souls escaping in mass and tearing his body up in the process, he puts everything he has into a highly empowered Graviton beam capable of leveling a continent in an attempt to do this to Junior and Xenilla. It fails, however, thanks to the combined efforts of the two, the escaping souls, Harmony, Rarity, and the soul of Godzilla Sr., resulting only in his own demise.
  • Telepathy: He can read minds, and communicate with non Kaiju this way. Chapter 38:part 2 has stated that he is one of the most powerful psychics in existence.
  • The Fatalist: Is of the belief everything happens for a fated reason, including his own acts of destruction and murder. Junior perplexes him as he has no 'fated' reason to be as powerful as he is.
  • Time Abyss: He comments in Chapter 24 that he is over a hundred million years old.
  • Ugly Hero, Good-Looking Villain: Ghidorah has golden scales, brilliant red eyes, and shines when he uses his powers. He's also a murderous sociopath who consumes the souls of countless victims. Compare him to Junior...
  • Unskilled, but Strong: According to Word of God, this is one of his issues: in all of his eons of living, only Terra, Planet X, and the Land of Light have ever actually given him trouble. The only known beings in the galaxy capable of matching him are Empera and Ultraman King/Noa. As such, he never really developed any actual combat skill compared to Godzilla Jr. or Monster X. Actually FIGHTING is something he so rarely has to do. This is one of the reasons he lost so badly to Kaizer Ghidorah, who despite all appearances is actually skilled in combat on top of being extremely powerful. It's also noted he struggles when facing multiple opponents at once for this same reason which is his downfall when Xenilla and Junior use teamwork to split his core in half.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Ghidorah avoids this despite multiple surprises and set backs...until he believed Xenilla dropped Junior to his death, denying him something he genuinely wanted and causing him to become absolutely livid. When Junior's real plan hits home, Ghidorah completely loses it and puts all his remaining strength into a Wave-Motion Gun strong enough to level a continent in fury at fate, in his mind, abandoning him and not allowing him his wish of creating something strong enough to kill Bagan. Subverted moments before his death when he realizes he succeeded after all.
  • Villainous Legacy: While he's killed by the Godzilla Dynasty midway through the story, he's still responsible for nearly everything bad in the Terran universe, including Bagan to some degree, meaning his effects on both universes will outlive him for a long time to come.
  • Villain Respect: The number of beings Ghidorah actually respects can be counted on one hand, one being Reijuu and the other being Kaizer Ghidorah. Celestia and Luna make the list after managing to defeat him in the dream world, with him admitting their world might actually have a chance after all.
  • Villain Team-Up: In Paradise Lost, he forms an alliance with Empera. Given it's Grand King Ghidorah, everyone knows he has his own agenda.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Attempts one strong enough to level a continent as a last ditch attempt to take Junior and Xenilla down with him after his core is fractured and all his stolen souls are escaping.
  • World's Strongest Man: As far as mortals go, he's the most powerful creature in the galaxy, with only Ultraman Noa/King and Empera rivaling him.
  • Worthy Opponent: The only beings he truly respects are Reijuu and Kaizer Ghidorah, who had previously defeated him. When Celestia and Luna manage to overpower him and drive him out of the dream world, he adds them to the list.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Once kidnapped thousands of human children and trapped them in a dome so he could drain their life force for his own pleasure. Fortunately, Godzilla Junior and Mothra Lea drove him off before a single child could get harmed.
  • Xanatos Speed Chess: Once he finally gets a mission, he's constantly adjusting his plans, even incorporating Starlight Glimmer's talents.
  • You Could Have Used Your Powers for Evil: Gives a speech like this to Junior, unable to understand how someone so powerful would protect humanity and ponykind rather than rule them as a god or destroy them as he sees fit.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Can harvest and consume the souls of his victims. During the final battle with him, Junior breaks open his core with his dorsal spines and sets them free.

Hedorah

  • Aliens Are Bastards: Joins just to relish in destruction.
  • Muck Monster: He's a sentient mass of pollution.
  • Out of Focus: Much like the Anteversers, he gets little to no screen time, only appearing at the beginning and only receiving background cameos.
  • Walking Wasteland: He can release poisons and acids that can injure even Kaiju as powerful as Godzilla.

    Legion

Legion

"Queens do not serve!"
Equestrian Form: Changeling Queen

  • Bee People: Her drones work like this.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: She and her drones can eat glass and obsidian.
  • Commonality Connection: The Big Bad specially assigned her to negotiate with Queen Chrysalis because she is also an Insect Queen and Chrysalis would be more willing to hear her out.
  • Creepy Monotone: Most of her speech is completely calm and without inflection.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Due to the Big Bad picking her up, the events of the second Gamera film never happened and thus she has never even met Gamera.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Seems to seriously consider herself a queen and is an evil being who seeks to conquer worlds. She even back talks the Big Bad due to her position.
  • Horde of Alien Locusts: When first introduced, her drones had been systematically scouring the woods around a small town, both collecting glass and devouring animals and a pony. According to Word of God on a live stream, not every Legion hive behaves this way, as it varies on the morality of the Queen.
  • Insect Queen: The mother and ruler of her army of drones.
  • Large and in Charge: In her Kaiju form, she's 168 meters tall, making her even larger than Grand King Ghidorah. In Equestria, she becomes a Changeling Queen much larger than Queen Chrysalis, and Chrysalis is roughly the same size as Princess Celestia. Tarbtano later confirmed her Equestrian form is even larger than Destroyah's.
  • The Stoic: Except for the part where she back talked the Big Bad, she is eerily calm most of the time.
  • The Swarm: Packing one inside her with her drones.
  • We Can Rule Together: Is sent by the Big Bad to deliver this message to Queen Chrysalis, who accepts.

  • Artificial Limbs: Of the This Is a Drill variety.
  • Adaptation Distillation: In his debut movie, he was the guardian of the Seatopian civilization. Here, he's another creation of the Nebulans alongside Gigan.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He can survive in a vacuum and fly through space unaided.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite being a goof ball and often a Harmless Villain when not given direction, when he actually commits to a fight he is a pretty hefty fighter. An overcharged shot from his Lightning Gun is even strong enough to stun Grand King Ghidorah.
  • Big Brother Worship: Treats Gigan in this matter, and even refers to him as "Big Brother".
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: He's an enormous cyborg beetle.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: He's aware the Power Ponies world is a comic book. Along with Sonata Dusk and Pinkie Pie, he's the most likely to make a Shout-Out to other series. He even invokes Batman (1966) style Idiosyncratic Wipes at one point.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Tough in battle, but is a fun-loving goofball who deeply cares for his friends.
  • Cyborg: Though to a much lesser extent than Gigan.
  • The Ditz: Word of God and readers alike describe him as a kaiju version of Derpy Hooves.
  • Dumb Muscle: It's pretty safe to say that he wasn't recruited for his brain power.
  • Expy: Word of God states he's modeled after Caboose and Alphonse.
  • Feed It with Fire: He can absorb electric attacks to charge up his Thunder Cannon.
  • Fireballs: Can launch burning napalm from his mouth.
  • Genki Guy: He's always full of energy, much to Gigan's exasperation.
  • Genre Savvy: He figures out that they are in a crossover story and avoids a Let's You and Him Fight situation.
  • A God I Am Not: During a moment of self reflection, he ponders that just as he and his comrades see their master as a god, they might be seen as gods by beings like Nebulans, Xilians, and humans, but concludes they aren't gods.
  • Hammerspace: He can pull random objects out of thin air.
  • Harmless Villain: So long as he's given no directions from someone like Gigan or the Big Bad.
  • Hidden Depths: He's a lot smarter than he seems. He just believes being carefree is less strenuous.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Upon being called a cockroach by King Ghidorah.
  • Lightning Gun: Has a "Thunder Cannon" in his horn.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Due to not understanding what candy is, and being told its valuable by Pipsqueak; he ends up going trick-or-treating on Nightmare Night as opposed to harming anyone.
  • Morality Chain: To Gigan. Before his birth, Gigan was in a deep state of self-hatred and was considering pulling a Murder-Suicide on the entire Nebulan capital, including his would-be successor, but seeing the infant Megalon made him decide to instead strive to protect him.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After the battle with King Ghidorah, he reminds Gigan and Irys that the Big Bad would give X back his memories which would turn him back into Kaizer Ghidorah. The tone as he's saying this is unusually moody.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He's a mercenary who mostly does what others tell him to do in exchange for keeping his body maintained and because he's too ignorant to know any better.
  • Required Secondary Powers: He can sense vibrations so that he knows where he's going when he tunnels through the ground. This also allows him to navigate in the dark.
  • Robo Family: He and Gigan come from the same series of Nebulan cyborgs, essentially making them brothers. Unlike Gigan, Megalon isn't shy about voicing their relation.
  • Shipper on Deck: To Gigan's chagrin, he supports Mane-iac's interest in him.
  • This Is a Drill: His arms end with two huge metal drills. As such, holding on to things proves rather problematic for him.
  • Token Good Teammate: Mostly joins just to keep his repairs going... and is not the brightest kaiju.
  • Tunnel King: He can use his drills to burrow through the ground in seconds. He can still travel through the ground as a human.
  • Villainous Friendship: He, Gigan, and X are genuinely good friends, even if his hyperactivity grates on the others a little. Irys later joins the group and Megalon seems to accept her just fine.

Unique to Monster X

"If you value yourself, don't get in my way."

Click here for his human face

  • Actually Pretty Funny: X finds Megalon's immaturity and clumsiness to be genuinely amusing, and he laughed when he first met the young cyborg (which Gigan had never seen him do before).
  • And I Must Scream: Whenever his Xilian masters didn't need him, they kept him trapped inside the giant asteroid Gorath. He later tells Aria what a horrible experience that was, alone with only his voice and nightmares for company for decades at a time.
  • Anti-Magic: Subverted when Sonata Dusk attempts to use her song based Mind-Control Music on him. It doesn't control him, but apparently reacts with his repressed memories and causes his PTSD to flare up.
  • Anti-Villain: He isn't very malign at all, only acting under orders and has an honor code more akin to a hero.
  • Badass Longcoat: Comes through the portal to the human world wearing a dark colored one.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He can survive in a vacuum and fly through space unaided.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Averted with his true form, which has been compared to demonic by numerous characters despite his moral standing. Played somewhat straight with his human form. Despite having some very obvious scars on his face, he doesn't look all that bad, just average.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Limited but there. While they all are around the same maturity (Megalon withstanding), he is the eldest of the small group he associates with and clearly cares about the well being of the others.
  • Black Knight: More in attitude than appearance. He has a chivalry styled honor code and wears body armor, but said armor is ivory colored. It's his skin that's black.
  • Bodyguard Crush: He used to be married to the person he was guarding, 011. It's also implied he's started gaining feelings for Aria Blaze during his time he was charged with protecting the Sirens from Enjin.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: As a kaiju he's already got Super-Toughness, Super-Strength, and fantastical abilities. Monster X however is distinct in knowing Xilian martial arts. Part of the reason he's so powerful is he's a kaiju with combat training. Given it's revealed he used to be an Xilian soldier who turned into a kaiju, we can infer this is a carry-over skill from the transformation.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Gradually becomes much kinder to his allies. He both goes on the warpath for Sonata and takes the time to comfort her and assure her that she'll be safe under his watch.
  • Decomposite Character: In Godzilla: Final Wars, Kaizer Ghidorah served no other purpose other than being a more powerful transformation of Monster X. Here, X and Kaizer are two separate personalities with Monster X being a Anti-Villain with a sense of honor and more morals than other villainous Kaiju.
  • Determinator: He fought Grand King Ghidorah with no other kaiju backing him up in his forgotten past, getting back up repeatedly after repeatedly being struck down.
  • Diving Kick: Pulls off a super charged one to finally break Enjin's defenses and bust open its core.
  • Draconic Humanoid: His dragon-like attributes and armor give him a vaguely Dragon Knight feel. Scratch the Humanoid and Knight part for his transformation.
  • Dramatic Irony: He thinks he's remaining loyal to Bagan by fighting back against Enjin, unaware Bagan sent Enjin to terminate him.
  • Evil Counterpart: To King Caesar. Both were originally mortals who volunteered to be transformed into kaiju in order to defend their homes. They're noble and stronghearted, and when they're not needed, they meditate in a stone chamber. Unlike Caesar, Monster X's transformation evidently resulted in a terrible catastrophe, he's feared by his people as a dangerous but necessary offensive weapon of war, and his comet is a prison.
  • Evil Virtues: Very against harming the defenseless, and is loyal to his friends and masters.
  • Expy:
  • Eye Beams: Fires his Graviton Beams out of his eyes and the eyespots on his shoulders.
  • Fights Like a Normal: Played With. he'll use his gravity abilities on occasion, but for all close quarters fighting he doesn't use his teeth and claws like most kaiju, instead using martial arts. Likely justified as he was once an Xilian Super-Soldier so he retained those skills.
  • Full-Contact Magic: While it isn't exactly magic, his method of controlling the gravitons in the matter around him requires just as much physical motion as it does Mind over Matter.
  • Genius Bruiser: He is very powerful, skilled in battle, and comes across as more intellectual compared to his peers.
  • Gravity Master: While not nearly as skilled as King Ghidorah, he can manipulate gravitons into the above mentioned Eye Beams as well as levitate.
  • Healing Factor: He mentions it is slower than most other Kaiju's healing, but even as a human, multiple stab wounds to the torso closed overnight.
  • Heroic Resolve: Think already having gone through prolonged combat, suffering from multiple injuries, being caught in a shockwave powerful enough to knock him into a lake, and up against a kaiju bigger and stronger than he is would keep him down? But when Aria Blaze is endangered by Enjin, he gets right back up.
  • Hidden Depths: When he sees Aria Blaze lashing out and isolating herself from the other Sirens, he takes time to talk her down and remind her that a family or team to rely on will always make you stronger. Loyalty is something to be valued.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: He botches his powers in his human body and decides to train to rectify this.
  • Human Weapon: As was later revealed, he was originally a normal Xilian who underwent some sort of procedure that grafted Grand King Ghidorah's genes onto himself, turning him into a kaiju. After Grand King Ghidorah's attack was repulsed, they locked him up in an asteroid and used him as a weapon a century later. While use as a weapon is treated as unethical, the Xilians had a good reason for locking him away and fearing him because he leveled the capital city as the out-of-control Kaizer Ghidorah.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: One traumatic event after another as well as being locked up in total isolation for centuries played hell with his memory. He can't remember anything about who he was or how he got like this outside of brief flashes in his nightmares.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Of the "hard-hitting speedster" variety. Agile enough to dart around quickly and back flip onto a wall.
  • Loophole Abuse: Exploits his superior's choice of words when deploying him against Ultraman Belial to spare Ultrawoman Corona, as he was told to 'eliminate the invading Ultra.' Belial was invading, Corona was protecting the Xilians, so while their obvious intent was for him to kill them both, he chooses to spare her.
  • Manly Tears: Sheds them when Aria's heart stops after her energy was drained by Enjin and he struggles to revive her. Luckily, she revives a few seconds later. He lies and claims that he shed tears due to the pain of his injuries, but she can easily tell the real reason.
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Psychics who attempt to probe his mind experience horrifying hallucinations, and many pass out screaming about a three-headed, gold and black behemoth.
  • More Expendable Than You: When Controller 011 note  volunteered to be infused with Grand King Ghidorah's DNA and become a Kaiju, he knocked her out and did it himself to become what he is now.
  • Morphic Resonance: When transformed into a human due to being in the Equestria Girl's realm, his long scarf ends hang down and resemble his twin tails.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: Monster X avoids hurting innocent bystanders, and actually takes the time to help them. Princess Twilight sees that despite having it out for her, Monster X is trying not to hurt her friends. Despite being angry at Sci-Twi for having aided the Windigos, he refuses to hurt her once he sees that she was a young girl who was horribly manipulated by them, and even comforts her when she breaks down in shame.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Brutally pummels Ultraman Belial into unconsciousness with Belial's own staff after an extended fight.
  • Noble Demon: Does not harm or, if he can, allow harm to come to those who stand no chance at fighting back. In fact he's not really evil at all, he's just in the service of evil people. Ultrawoman Corona notes this after her energy attack heals him in the Belial fight, as it harms evil beings but heals good ones.
  • Not So Stoic: Goes off the rails when King Ghidorah tries invading his mind.
  • Praetorian Guard: What he was before he was a Kaiju, being part of the Xilian elite guard.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He's really not a bad guy at all. He simply follows the orders of his masters because he can't remember having any other purpose.
  • Red Baron: The Xilian Vanguard.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: To make up for his lost tails in human form, he has a long scarf in human form with the two ends handing behind him.
  • Scars Are Forever: While it's obscured by his true form's armor and his human form's attire, he has several noticeable scars across his brow, nose, and lips; as well as a puncture scar on his torso above his heart. We later seem them clearly in his human form after he lets Aria take his mask off.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: We don't know quite what happened to him, but all of his past he can remember is some pretty nightmarish imagery.
  • Split Personality: Monster X and Kaizer Ghidorah are two halves of Praetorian Guard 094's original mind, torn apart by the horrendous psychic whiplash from Controller 011's death. Monster X has 094's personality and mannerisms, but none of his memories.
  • Split-Personality Merge: After making peace, Kaizer Ghidorah is absorbed by him. The result is he has his memories back and his body turns partially golden and with wings. He has become more powerful than ever and can still turn into Kaizer's form.
  • Strong and Skilled: Like Junior, he's both extremely strong and skilled in combat.
  • Super Mode: Gets one in the final battle against Enjin, though only with Aria Blaze's help. He's able to use a portion of Kaizer Ghidorah's power without losing control to the other personality, vastly increasing his physical strength and energy output.
  • Super-Strength: Has above average strength as a kaiju and kept a degree of it even in human form while in the Equestria Girls world.
  • Stern Teacher: His method of training Aria Blaze includes full contact sparring, lecturing her mid-fight on how to improve. He also refuses to skip steps in learning how to use the gravity manipulation abilities, much to Aria's ire. Still, her improvement does show his method works.
  • Synchronization: Back when she was alive, he shared a psychic link with Controller 011, meaning they shared injuries.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: "Honest Eyes" by Black Tide during his Heroic Second Wind and Aria's activation of his Super Mode against Enjin.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Over the course of the Enjin arc, he and Aria Blaze eventually become amicable and respectful to each other. X finally lets some of his stoicism drop and genuinely enjoyed their time together. The finale to the arc shows he's definitely gained feelings for her.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: X remembers nothing of his past. Judging by the horrific content of his dreams, his memory loss most certainly wasn't brought on by a simple bump on the head.
  • Transformation Horror: Involuntarily shape shifting into Kaizer Ghidorah comes with a heavy dose of Body Horror and Scenery Gorn, it's unpleasant for everything within a half mile radius.
  • True Companions: With Gigan, Megalon, and eventually Irys.
  • Un-person: The Xilians erased all records of his original self, Praetorian Guard 094.
  • Villain Protagonist: Least in the sense he's only really a villain by merit of working for the main antagonist. He's this for the first Bonus chapter and splits billing with Irys for the Christmas special. He later goes on to be the main kaiju in the Enjin arc, where the "villainous" part becomes heavily downplayed overtime.
  • Villainous Friendship: He, Gigan, and Megalon do genuinely get along; being old war buddies. Irys later joins the trio, after bonding with X during the Holiday special.
  • Was Once a Man: His limited backstory shows he was once a normal Xilian, though he himself is unaware of this. He was once a guardsman named Praetorian Guard 094, but volunteered to have King Ghidorah's genes grafted onto him in a last ditch effort to save his planet.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Subverted. His human form has white hair and he is an antagonist, but of a Noble Demon Anti-Villain flavor with morals more akin to a hero's.
  • Why Won't You Die?: In their forgotten battle hundreds of years ago, X kept getting back up to keep fighting after King Ghidorah struck him down numerous times; earning this thought from the latter. It was because X was transforming into Kaizer Ghidorah.
  • You Are Number 6: The Xilian race uses a system of number designations to refer to their individuals. As such, X's original "name" was apparently Praetorian Guard 094. However, he has long since forgotten it. note

  • Adaptational Badass: A bizarre example given he was already incredibly powerful in the films and comics. The difference is less an increase in power and more a change in fighting style. Unlike the film version which mostly stood stationary and spammed beams, this version of more of a physical brawler.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: As Monster X and Aria defeat him in the mental world and seal him away once again, X can't help but feel sorry for him after catching a glimpse of the man he once was and the woman he lost forever.
  • All There in the Manual: He had a full bio posted on the author blog before he got his first appearance in-story.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Unlike Monster X, Kaizer is a sadistic kaiju.
  • And I Must Scream: Whenever he's not in control, he's trapped in a cage deep within Monster X's mind. After about 200 years of this, he's pissed.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He can survive in a vacuum and fly through space unaided.
  • Bears Are Bad News: While he doesn't look mammalian at all, his powerful build and posture are described as bear-like. This is a deliberate change from his Final Wars design, which is more elephant-like.
  • Berserk Button: He hates King Ghidorah. The latter's very presence sends him off on a murderous rampage.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Though his middle head has a brain, he doesn't need it and can survive a triple decapitation because he has a core in his chest.
  • Blasphemous Boast: "You call yourself 'king'? Then I am Kaizer... You are no god, but I am the Devil.". Doubles as Pre-Asskicking One-Liner.
  • Blood Knight: Unlike X, Kaizer revels in slaying his enemies.
  • Body Horror: The transformation from X to Kaizer is anything but pleasant. Text describes it as feeling like X's muscles and bones being torn apart and put back together to add more mass, and his wings need to tear their way out of his back.
  • Breath Weapon: Fires his graviton rays out of his three heads' jaws.
  • Decomposite Character: In Godzilla: Final Wars, Kaizer Ghidorah served no other purpose other than being a more powerful transformation of Monster X. Here, X and Kaizer are two separate personalities with Kaizer Ghidorah serving as the Ax-Crazy Superpowered Evil Side to Monster X.
  • The Dreaded: The mere possibility of him rearing his heads strikes fear into anyone unlucky enough to know of him. Even King Ghidorah himself is scared of him.
  • Expy: Contrasting with Monster X's Noble Demon and Anti-Villain inspirations, Tarbtano stated Kaizer is based off Broly and Greed. He's also one of King Ghidorah.
  • Evil Is Bigger: Monster X, Black Knight, 58,000 tons. Kaizer Ghidorah, Blood Knight, 100,000 tons, and he is 145 meters tall compared to Monster X's 100 meters tall.
  • Evil Laugh: Gives one hell of an evil laugh to King Ghidorah after his transformation, making his presence to the world known.
  • Feel No Pain: Grand King Ghidorah does manage to fight back and damage him, but everything from mass burns to broken bones he just shrugs off and fights through it all because he is so out of control pain doesn't even register.
  • Genius Bruiser: While he usually fights like a raving berserker, he can use clever tactics when he has to, specially when he is with Grand King Ghidorah.
  • Giant Flyer: 145 meters tall and can fly at Mach 2.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Kaizer is dangerous enough for Bagan to regard him as a threat.
  • Gravity Master: Can manipulate gravity around him. When in the middle of transforming from X to Kaizer, so much out of control graviton pulses were shooting out that the floor in Zenith was crushed in and numerous kaiju thrown back.
  • Healing Factor: It is a bit slow, but can activate almost instantaneously when he uses his Vampiric Draining ability.
  • Heartbroken Badass: It's more or less confirmed that back when he was a normal Xilian, he was married. Grand King Ghidorah having a hand in his spouse's death, Kaizer's crazed rampages are him trying to seek revenge.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After Controller 011's soul reveals the true circumstances of her death and urges him to let go of the hate and accept love and friendship with people other than her, he admits Monster X is better than him and willingly becomes one with him. When Kaizer Gidorah reappears in chapter 49 after X's Demonic Possession, he remains willing to help his other personality by transforming Aria into her kaizer form.
  • Hulking Out: Kaizer Ghidorah weighs 42,000 tons more than Monster X, and a good portion of that is muscle.
  • Lack of Empathy: The only being he cared about was Controller 011, just her, and only her. Now that she's dead, everyone else X cares for, even Gigan, Megalon, and Aria Blaze, can just go ahead and die.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Of the "fast big guy" variety. He is 145 meters tall and weighs 100,000. He also possesses incredible physical strength, durability, and the ability to fly at Mach 2 speeds.
  • Made of Iron: Almost nothing can keep him down.
  • Mistaken Identity: Briefly mistakes Aria Blaze for Controller 011, his wife back when he was a normal Xilian. Presumably it was due to them both having violet colored eyes and Aria managing to quell his rage via a magic song. When he later finds out they are different people, he hates Aria.
  • Mind over Matter: Can manipulate gravity to use telekinesis on himself and others.
  • No Indoor Voice: Upon taking over their body from X, he roars/screams every single line while on a rampage. So far he's only said one sentence without exclamation points, which is a good way to show that he is not like X.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: "Dragon Knight" reveals he hates Monster X, for being weaker than him, for trapping him, and for daring to forget about Controller 011, the only being he cares about.
  • One-Winged Angel: From the humanoid Monster X to the much larger quadruped three-headed dragon Kaizer Ghidorah.
  • Red Baron: The Berserk Abomination.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Despises Grand King Ghidorah beyond all reason, readily attacking anyone who he perceives as in the way of killing King, a good way to show his destroyed morals.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Monster X's first transformation into him was spurred by witnessing King Ghidorah seemingly kill his wife.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Deconstructed. The only being he will ever love is Controller 011. After Monster X and Aria Blaze get closer and develop feelings for each other, he refuses to accept this and declares his hatred of both of them.
  • Split Personality: Monster X and Kaizer Ghidorah are two halves of Praetorian Guard 094's original mind, torn apart by the horrendous psychic whiplash from Controller 011's death. Kaizer Ghidorah has all of 094's memories, but is completely berserk and insane due to his raging, out-of-control emotions.
  • Strong and Skilled: He doesn't look like it, but he's very skilled on top of his sheer strength.
  • Superior Successor: Grand King Ghidorah calls him this, since Kaizer is stronger than him. King doesn't mind eventually dying, as Kaizer will take his place. Part of the reason why King is so powerful is that he's absorbed billions of souls, but Kaizer was more powerful than him even when he didn't have any, and then he only absorbed one, Controller 011's.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Kaizer Ghidorah is far stronger than Monster X, easily overpowering most other kaiju through brute force.
  • Super-Strength: He's leagues above most other kaiju in this regard. Even when turned into a human in the Equestria Girls realm, he can still tear trees apart with his bare hands. Perhaps best shown in the climax of his fight with King Ghidorah. Kaizer tore off one of King's heads with brute force alone.
  • Telepathy: He can communicate with non Kaiju this way.
  • Unstoppable Rage: He's so choked with anger and hatred that his very presence supercharges Aria Blaze, though not enough to actually fight him.
  • Vampiric Draining: Can siphon off energy via biting.
  • Walking Spoiler: Arguably a driving force behind X's story arc.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Put simply, as soon as he perceives a threat or King Ghidorah's presence, Kaizer becomes very unhinged.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Contrasting with Monster X's more agile striking oriented fighting, Kaizer's physical arsenal tends to be more joint breaks and wrestling moves such as lariats.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: When Controller 011 died, he unknowingly swallowed her soul. X eventually releases her.

     God of Extinction

Bagan

"To launch a campaign.... and unmake a world, the first of many."

  • Above Good and Evil: Proclaims they're not evil, for extinction is simply inevitable. They also reject concepts like love, friendship, and mercy.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Well, Megalon doesn't know their name, so he calls them "Boss Ball".
  • Apocalypse How: They caused a Class 2, almost Class 3 event called the Toba Catastrophe over 77,000 years ago on Earth. The effects were so devastating that they wiped out all of Earth's ancient civilizations and brought humans to the brink of extinction.
  • Bad Boss: The second he feels they don't need you, they'll throw you under the bus. This is however subverted in the case of Monster X when we learn what they thought about this: they weren't pleased to have to kill him, but X was getting increasingly unstable, resulting in a moment which, from their point of view, was closer to Shoot the Dog. They much prefer the actual outcome to the problem, with X eventually stabilizing.
  • Batman Gambit: Whether or not Enjin succeeded in taking Kaizer Ghidorah's power, the true objective was a gamble that Enjin would capture Harmony's attention long enough for Bagan to detect her and access her realm directly.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: Their titles say it all: they went from the Aspect of Life to the God of Extinction. It's so pronounced that his Mirror Universe counterpart is effectively his heroic self and vice versa from what little has been revealed.
  • Benevolent Boss: As long as you are useful to their plans, they keep their promises and grant wonderful boons. They gradually seem to be warming up to the Dark Hunters and developing genuine fondness for them, including allowing them to just hang out in the Equestria Girls world.
  • Berserk Button: They hate the undead. Given their goal to "free" all souls from mortal flesh, this makes sense.
  • Breath Weapon: They wouldn't be a Kaiju if they didn't have one. In their case they fire a beam comprised of pure mana.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: They're powerful enough to kill all their minions themselves and would gladly do so, but they still need them around to gather what they need to restore their greatly diminished strength. Invoked by Grand King Ghidorah, who only reveals he figured out Bagan's true identity when he was too important to silence. Subverted gradually with the Dark Hunters, as they have began developing a degree of genuine fondness for them.
  • Composite Character: Of the two different unused designs for Bagan Toho has gone through, having a design closer to the later designs while Mizu, Doragon, and Enjin were forms of his original concept, and their original name was also the second part of the names for all three. Strength wise they're on the level of the videogame version (at least while still heavily weakened by their sealing), and their backstory is an amalgam of the 1980s and Mothra vs. Bagan versions. During their formation in his Origins Episode, they cycle through their various unused designs before stabilizing into their current one.
  • The Dreaded: The kaiju who know about them shudder to even speak their name.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Even by kaiju standards, everything about them seems unnatural. Even by the standards of what they are, they're unnatural: they're a Fusion Dance of the three Primal Aspects, something that would never naturally exist.
  • Enemy Summoner: They can create avatars of their original forms to fight along side them. However, the complete destruction of an avatar will prevent them from creating a new one for a long time, as is the case when Enjin is completely destroyed.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: They did not anticipate that the displaced Kaiju would choose to help the Equestrians of their own free will.
  • Evil Counterpart: To the Big Good Harmony. Both are one of the most ancient beings in their respective dimensions, are Physical God tier powerhouses, had a hand in inventing or perpetuating magic on Equestria and Terra respectively; and are sealed away in one form or another after losing some of their power. However, they were forcefully imprisoned to stop their rampage across ancient Terra and in doing so, lost most of their power by force.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Their territory, a black featureless landscape, which they can expand, is supernaturally cold and not even Hellfire affects it. Even beings unaffected by the cold of outer space like Monster X and Gigan react with pain and surprise. Zenith was originally a Fire and Brimstone Hell before they took it over.
  • Evil Versus Evil:
    • His battle with Red.
    • Chrysalis theorizes this will happen if Grogar was restored to full power, and intends to do so.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Was a guardian of Terra, keyword was.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride. While his claims of being an deity are justified, it's how much he believes it that is one of his biggest weaknesses. He tends to underestimate others and fails to see several of his minions working against him coming. Chrysalis and Sombra are secretly plotting behind his back to fully restore Grogar (something Flurry Heart's timeline implies they succeed in) and he's completely blindsided by Grand King Ghidorah revealing he knew Bagan's identity the entire time, something Grand King Ghidorah only revealed when he had enough knowledge of Bagan's plans to make himself too important a piece of them for Bagan to do anything to him.
  • Fallen Hero: Went from guardian of Terra to Omnicidal Maniac.
  • Female Angel, Male Demon: Contrasting with the female Big Good.
  • Friendly Enemy: It's fallen into this relationship with Harmony. While the two are still opposed to one another, they generally act on affable terms when not in direct conflict. They even acknowledge that the other would much rather win the other to their side than have to destroy them.
  • Fusion Dance: Was created when a sea monster (Mizu), a flying dragon (Doragon), and a demonic ape (Enjin) combined into one. It should be noted Bagan is not them mashed together, as the three have long since ceased to exist, and Bagan is an independent entity from them. They merged to save Terra, and possibly the universe, from the Demon hordes which overwhelmed the three by sheer numbers.
  • A God Am I: His introduction to all the Kaiju he summoned begins with declaring himself a god and he later dismisses both Grand King Ghidorah and the Legion Queen, saying that kings and queens are nothing compared to a deity. Considering just how strong he is, hard to argue with him. Not only that, his backstory reveals that his claim of godhood is completely correct.
  • God in Human Form: They assume human form to enter the EG World to heal Gigan so he can return to combat the Windigos. They have to willingly suppress their full power in order to do so, as their full power would instantly draw the attention of everyone who can sense magic and tip off Mothra to their presence. They note this is a risk, as Harmony could take advantage of it to try and kill them, but does so any way knowing that's not something Harmony would do.
  • God of Evil: Is referred to as 'The God of Extinction' several times.
  • Godzilla Threshold: His existence is one, as his competent only formed him as a last resort to save Terra from the demon hordes, as it was an irreversible act.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: For The Bridge: Humanity's Stand.
  • Hidden Villain: While his workings are made known to the readers from fairly early on, his identity isn't revealed until later. Combined with Dramatic Irony after that point, as the ponies and heroic Kaiju are still unaware of him. He actually seems to be aware of this and keeps himself anonymous by various means, such as using minions who don't know who he is to do his dirty work; or keeping any revealing parts of his presence, such as his Aspects, hidden from anyone who might recognize them.
  • I Hate Past Me: According to Word of God, he sees his past self as incompetent, naive, and dangerously misguided. Likewise, his past self wouldn't be too fond of him if he got a chance to see him.
  • Inevitable Mutual Betrayal: He and Ghidorah are well aware that the other wants them dead first chance they get, it just happens at present Bagan is the stronger of the two and still had need of Ghidorah. Neither gets the chance, as Ghidorah dies before it can happen.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Doesn't have a single comedic quirk or action to him.
  • Land, Sea, Sky: It was once three primordial entities that fused together into one form and each inhabited one of the elemental domains. Enjin for land, Mizu for sea, and Doragon for sky.
  • Large and in Charge: The canon Bagan is already the largest (tying with Heisei King Ghidorah in height at 150 metres) and heaviest (outweighing Biollante, the second heaviest who already weights 200,000 metric tons, by 80,000 metric tons) Kaiju in the Godzilla Franchise. In The Bridge he is even larger than that, standing at 165 metres in height and weighing 300,000 tons. He’s also The Leader of the antagonist Kaiju faction and the Big Bad of the story as a whole.
  • Mad God: Believes sapient life is a mistake and he's freeing souls "trapped" in mortal flesh, and is Terra's Top God.
  • Meaningful Rename: His original name was Reijuu but he changed it to Bagan, which means extinction.
  • Mind Rape: Rips out a mental shriek powerful enough to floor a room full of kaiju.
  • Morality Pet:
    • Despite their first confrontation, future meetings with Harmony are entirely benign and it seems to stop by on occasion for casual conversation with no ill intent.
    • As Harmony's noticed, Bagan seems to have grown attached to the Dark Hunters to a degree and treats them well, even in situations that doesn't directly benefit it. A later chapter has Bagan even begin to admit to it themselves, resulting in him telling Gigan they're So Proud of You, something they hadn't done in a 100,000 years. Bagan even admits they're willing to stall their plans to let the Hunters live out their natural lifespan first.
  • No Biological Sex: Given Bagan predates all life, gender isn't something it has. Bagan does use male pronouns at times, but the text often just refers to him as "It".
  • Omnicidal Maniac: The guy is a walking extinction event. He feels that life is a mistake, and that the death he delivers is "freeing" the souls "trapped" in mortal flesh. He's also referred to as the God of Extinction. Later chapters reveal this only applies to sapient life rather than all life in general.
  • One-Man Army: In the Permian, it single handedly took on trillions of demons and kaiju level archdemons and slew billions before the native kaiju joined in. It took entire flocks of Mothra and Battra just to defeat and seal it away.
  • Orcus on His Throne: He recruits others because he requires vast amounts of energy to act outside his realm. His kaiju are gathering magical artifacts from across the multiverse for him to absorb. Once he is fully charged, then he will get involved personally. Though when he accesses Harmony's realm, he decides to attack her personally instead of sending a minion. Justified in that case, as he outright admits that sending any of his minions, even Grand King Ghidorah or one of his avatars wouldn't have been anywhere strong enough to challenge Harmony. It doesn't even try to challenge Harmony again, as it realizes any fight between the two would end in a draw or go on too long to be worth it. Also justified with his Aspects: according to Word of God if he sent them more often or to the wrong place Mothra might recognize his handiwork.
  • Outside-Context Problem:
    • The Equestrians and even most Terrans for that matter have no idea he even exists, and those that do believe he'll still be gone for another 30,000 years. Needless to say, no one sees him coming.
    • Harmony is this to it, but not for the obvious reason. Bagan has never known anything as its equal, so running into Harmony was completely unexpected. This is one reason their later interactions are much more friendly.
  • Permafusion: Bagan's a permanent fusion between Doragon, Mizu, and Enjin. And while they have the ability to summon avatars, there are just extension of their will, with the components basically no longer existing anymore.
  • Pet the Dog: While saving Gigan the first time was in part pragmatic, saving him the second time, fully knowing he'll go save his friends, has no such element to it and is them sincerely rewarding Gigan for his loyalty and valor.
  • Physical God: By far the most powerful of the kaiju. Bagan also has various magic based abilities that are very different from your run of the mill kaiju power-set. The only character capable of matching him one-on-one is Harmony, and even then just barely which makes sense when you remember that Bagan fits the same cosmological niche for Terra as Harmony does for Equestria, and Grogar who's in the same tier as both.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • Despite having a large force at his disposal, he doesn't deploy all of them at once and steam roll any opposition because he knows it would be a huge waste of energy and would likely destroy the artifacts he's needing collected to restore himself. He also acts civil to his troops and grants them boons because he needs them to restore his strength; while he would love nothing more than to kill them, they can't serve him if they are dead. He goes after Harmony personally, because she's far too powerful for any of his other minions or even his avatars, to have any hope of fighting. After this, it realizes the two are too evenly matched for a fight to be worthwhile, so future encounters are much more benign and friendly.
    • He simply resurrects Sombra and lets him loose rather than put him in Cadence's presence or send one of his minions because the large amount of magic in the Empire blocks his sight and thus he can't see clearly in it.
    • Exploited by Grand King Ghidorah, who only reveals he knows who Bagan really is once he knows enough of Bagan's plans that he can offer Bagan a few things too important for him to kill him.
  • Reality Warper: Transforms Zenith and teleports his forces around.
  • Red Baron: The Aspect of Life; The Morning Star, The Creator.
  • Redemption Rejection: Harmony offers him a chance to end this game right now, saying it's never too late to turn back to the light. He flatly refuses. She's not giving up, however.
  • Satanic Archetype: Described as having once been a radiant paragon of virtue and wisdom before somehow coming to despise all life (similar to Lucifer from Paradise Lost). One of his titles was even "The Morning Star".
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Was imprisoned under Attu Island for over 70,000 years. He was meant to be sealed for a full 100,000 years, but he was accidentally released prematurely. This works both for and against him, as while his return was unexpected, it also means he didn't have time to come close to regaining his power and thus needs to find alternate ways to do so.
  • Sizeshifter: As with Harmony, they can change size at will.
  • So Proud of You: Bagan tells Gigan they're proud of him while saving his life for a second time. Bagan admits they hadn't done so to anyone in over 100,000 years and that makes it matter greatly despite their extreme age.
  • Straw Nihilist: He believes life is a fleeting, meaningless mistake and that death is the only thing worth anything.
  • Super-Empowering: Can increase his Aspect's power at any time, and also makes the Anteverse Kaiju more powerful.
  • Tautological Templar: Believes that, as a Physical God, any course of action he takes is right.
  • That Man Is Dead: Declares "The past is dead to me." regarding his former life as a hero.
  • Thinking Up Portals: Can open portals to any realm, though he admits connecting to multiple realms at the same time is taxing.
  • Time Abyss: Was an adult during the Cretaceous period and Word of God mentions the Aspects fused together into him during the Permian Era. He later mentions himself to be billions of years old, which pegs him as predating all life on Terra and is possibly the oldest being in existence from his dimension.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He gradually becomes more genuinely benevolent toward his own minions. He even goes out of his way to heal Gigan as a reward for his bravery.
  • Tron Lines: Not on him himself, his "throne" courses with pulses of dull purple light every few seconds as his cocoon levitated above it.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Treats Chrysalis and Sombra the same as his other minions and seems completely unaware of the fact Chrysalis is playing him to resurrect Grogar with every intention of betraying him, something the Bad Future Empress Flurry Heart came from implies she will succeed in doing.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Throws a brief tantrum after Mothra and Twilight Sparkle foiled his attempt to steal the Tree of Harmony and then Godzilla foiled the Gyaos flock's invasion of Canterlot. He wrecks the chamber before calming down and saying it was but a minor setback.
  • Villain Override: Can take control of his Aspects directly. He does this to Mizu in The Bridge: A Shimmer in the Dark.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: They can naturally shapeshift among their many other abilities. This includes assuming human form to help Gigan in the EG world.
  • Walking Spoiler: His identity as Bagan isn't revealed at first, as the large amount of spoilers should attest.

     Enjin

Enjin

...

  • Achilles' Heel: If separated from Bagan for too long, his body will start to deteriorate unless he regularly absorbs a source of energy. Also, if he's not in contact with the ground, he can't regenerate or adapt.
  • Adaptive Ability: After recovering from injury, his body adjusts itself so it won't happen again the same way. After getting his neck and arm broken by Kaizer Ghidorah, now they won't break. His skin hardens after Monster X punches him several times.
  • The Assimilator: His core absorbs Aria Blaze into itself to gain enough energy to return to Kaiju form.
  • Balls of Steel: Crotch shots are ineffective against him thanks to his incredible toughness, inability to feel pain, and lacking the required anatomy in the first place.
  • Came Back Strong: Gains Sunset Shimmer's fire magic after possessing her.
  • Combat Tentacles: A large mass of tentacles can sprout from his chest.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: The second Enjin is defeated when Rarity manages to exorcise him from Sunset, overload his ruptured core with magic, and throws what's left of him into King Ghidorah. The combination of their energies triggers a multi-megaton explosion that destroys Enjin.
  • Demonic Possession: After Mizu retrieves the last shard of his core, the shard uses Sunset Shimmer as a host body. Rarity manages to exorcise him. Enjin then tries to possess her instead, but with Nightmare's help she manages to fend him off and ultimately destroy him.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: In addition to drawing strength from contact with the ground, he can sense others through seismic vibrations and trigger earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
  • Dramatic Irony: He's been ordered to track down Kaizer Ghidorah, kill him, and take his energy, yet he has no idea Kaizer and Monster X are one and the same. Because Aria Blaze now emits Kaizer's energy and Monster X doesn't, Enjin ignores X at first and tries to go around him to get to Aria.
  • Energy Absorption: Can draw strength from the ground.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Like his master, his flesh is nail-bitingly cold.
  • Expy: Several readers have compared him to Jason Voorhees given his silent nature, no hesitance to kill anything in his way, and masked face. It's appearance of an animate shadow also resembles the Heartless. The knuckle spikes and Adaptive Ability has caused some to compare it to Doomsday.
  • Fallen Hero: Used to dutifully defend Terra and was a pacifist. The modern one is now an emotionless killing machine.
  • Feel No Pain: He never reacts to anything that happens to him, and stoically resets his dislocated arm. Though he does scream in agony when Aria blasts him from the inside out.
  • Fighting a Shadow: As powerful as Enjin is, he's merely a projection of the true Enjin within Bagan, and can be recreated should he be destroyed. However, if the projected Enjin is completely destroyed (as was the case when Nightmare Rarity hurled his overloaded, unstable core into King Ghidorah causing a massive explosion that de-atomized the Aspect), according to Word of God it will take a long time for Bagan to be able to make a new one.
  • Gentle Giant: The original was kind and benevolent, being the one of the three Aspects that absolutely refused to give up on life on Terra, and even risked itself mid-battle to save a tiny creature from the demons.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Nightmare Rarity uses his ruptured, unstable, and overloaded core as a weapon against Grand King Ghidorah, blowing his wing off and foiling his attempted sucker punch on Junior and Xenilla.
  • Having a Blast: He can gather energy into his hand to form an orb that functions like a grenade.
  • Healing Factor: He can recover from pretty much anything, even a broken neck, in a matter of seconds or minutes. Even his mask repairs itself when damaged.
  • The Heavy: While his master is the actual villain, Enjin is the primary threat to the characters in the Equestria Girls universe at present.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Monster X finishes him off by catching his mana bomb with his gravity powers and sending it back, launching him into the air where his Healing Factor doesn't work so he can finish him off for good.
  • Humanoid Abomination: While traveling to the Equestria Girls realm did change his apelike form to a more humanlike one, you'd still be very hard-pressed to call the resulting creature "human".
  • Immune to Mind Control: Enjin is completely immune to mind control, mental attacks, and forced suggestion; regardless of if the source is magical, demonic, or scientific in origin.
  • Implacable Man: Severely injuring him and removing him from the battlefield only slows him down. He won't stop coming. A major advantage he has over Kaizer Ghidorah is that he doesn't get tired, while Kaizer can.
  • Killer Gorilla: His true form is a demonic ape with a myriad of different primate traits with a gorilla as a base. In the Equestria Girls realm, his face is revealed to resemble a gorilla after his mask is knocked off. He gains a slimmer, "speed form" that more closely resembles a mandrill than gorilla.
  • Knight of Cerebus: There's nothing funny about this guy. He stoically kills anybody in the way of his mission, and he's almost unstoppable.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Briefly considers attacking Princess Celestia while her guard is down, but decides she is too powerful at the moment.
  • Living Shadow: Because the original Enjin is now physically a component of Bagan's body, the modern one is a copy created by a mix of dark energy and magic. This is apparent as in its "human" form, it doesn't have flesh and blood, but instead physical dark energy. For this its appearance is likened less to a man and more to an animate shadow.
  • Logical Weakness: He's the Aspect of Land so his Adaptive Ability and Healing Factor don't work if he's not in contact with the ground. After possessing Sunset Shimmer's body, while he gained her magic, Sunset's body is still mortal, leaving a vulnerability. And since he's a spirit now, Rarity is able to exorcise him.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: His roar can shatter glass and blow out eardrums. It can also Mind Rape those who hear it, filling their heads with fear and despair.
  • Mind Rape: Enjin's roar fills those who hear it with dread, fear, anguish, or mental pain.
  • No Biological Sex: Lacks genitals, though looks like and is referred to as male or a neutral "it".
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: He doesn't speak or fool around, he just does his mission as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • One-Winged Angel: Is destroyed by the now Kaizer Aria, but then revived by Bagan transfering him energy, allowing him to revive in a large enough form to absorb her and return to his true form. However, since Aria didn't have her necklace with her, her power was incomplete, so Enjin is only at a fraction of his true size at 50 meters tall.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Even Mothra Lea and the other Guardian Beasts who have knowledge of Enjin's master don't know of him.
  • Perpetual-Motion Monster: Stoically marches toward the target and does not eat, drink, or rest. However, if Bagan is not around to supply energy, he must absorb energy from somewhere every few days or risk falling apart.
  • Phlebotinum Overload: The second Enjin's core is damaged after being exorcised from Sunset. Rarity takes advantage of this by overloading the ruptured core with too much magic for its compromised state to safely contain. She then throws the unstable Enjin straight into Grand King Ghidorah, their energies mixing and triggering a multi-megaton explosion that destroys Enjin.
  • Red Baron: The Aspect of Land; The Warden.
  • Scare the Dog: Animals are completely terrified of him. A sign he's nearby is all the animals fleeing the area.
  • Scarily Competent Tracker: Once he's locked on to Kaizer Ghidorah's energy signature, he'll make his way directly for the nearest signature. Even if said signature is miles away, inside a building, and Enjin is at the bottom of a frozen river.
  • Shed Armor, Gain Speed: Enjin has two distinct "forms". His gorilla-like "base form" is heavily armored and incredibly powerful; but only reasonably agile. His mandrill-like "speed form" is incredibly fast and agile, at the trade off of less armor and physical power.
  • Soul Jar: Has a "core" inside his chest that seems to contain his essence. Unfortunately, it seems to be almost indestructible. It's ultimately destroyed when Rarity overloads it after it's damaged and then throws it into Grand King Ghidorah, triggering a massive explosion that completely destroys it.
  • Super-Strength: Even as a "human" in the Equestria Girls realm, he can trade blows with Kaizer Ghidorah. Considering how Enjin easily killed two hospital workers with his bare hands, Kaizer's Super-Toughness was likely the only reason he could fight back. In his true form, he's a match for a Godzillasaurus or a MUTO.
  • Time Abyss: Along with Mizu and Doragon, he's one of the first beings to exist on Terra.
  • Tron Lines: The body is covered with yellow lines that glow when powering up.
  • The Voiceless: Hardly makes a sound when in "human" form, even when fighting. He does howl and roar while in kaiju form, and roars after his mask is knocked off.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can rearrange body mass into a sleeker, more efficient design, granting greater speed and agility.
  • Walk, Don't Swim: Like a real gorilla, his body is too dense to float, but he can simply walk along the bottom until he reaches land.
  • White Mask of Doom: As a "human", his face is concealed by a kabuki theater's monkey mask.
  • Wolverine Claws: Has spikes extend from his knuckles, even as a "human".

    Mizu

Mizu

  • Deal with the Devil: Bagan sends it to The Shimmerverse to offer an alliance with Countess Mircalla and the remnant of the Nightmare Army. In exchange for help, it offers them powerful spells and artifacts.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Even Countess Mircalla, a vampire from a snowy mountain, feels cold around it.
  • Fighting a Shadow: As powerful as Mizu is, it's merely a projection of the true Mizu within Bagan, and can be recreated should it be destroyed, though if the same applies to it as to Enjin, complete and total destruction would leave Bagan unable to recreate it for a long time.
  • Living Shadow: It is not made of flesh and blood, but solid dark energy.
  • Logical Weakness: While it can see in the dark, total darkness means no reflections, limiting its options.
  • Mind over Matter: It is shown levitating things.
  • Mirror Monster: It can travel along any reflective surface.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Even Mothra Lea and the other Guardian Beasts who have knowledge of Mizu's master don't know of it. It has abilities and tools the Shimmerverse has never seen.
  • Red Baron: The Aspect of Water.
  • Sea Monster: Its true form. In Equestria, its shape remains the same, but becomes somewhat pony-sized.
  • Scare the Dog: Animals are completely terrified of it. Its presence in the Nightmare Army causes all the animals in the Everfree Forest to avoid it.
  • Soul Jar: A jewel in its forehead that seems to contain its essence.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: It enters and leaves the Nightmare Army's camp as it pleases, and not even the dire wolves detect its presence.
  • Time Abyss: Along with Enjin and Doragon, it is one of the first beings to exist on Terra.
  • Telepathy: It communicates with others this way. The reader does not see what it says, only others reacting to what it is saying.
  • Tron Lines: Its body is covered with blue lines that glow when powering up.
  • The Voiceless: It does not speak, though it does use telepathy to communicate.
