The Protagonists

    Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama

The main protagonist of the story. An awkward but gentle-hearted boy who enrolled into U.A. under the persuasion of his master in the hopes of controlling his incredible quirk. Despite his enrollment, Mob frequently questions if he has what it takes to be a hero. His quirk is Telekinesis.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: His hero costume plus mask are black and he's a good hearted boy.
  • The Ditherer: Mob's main conflict in the story is whether he wants to be a hero because he wants to or because others want him to be one.
  • Emotional Powers: Mob's quirk is powered by his emotions. The more they build up inside him, the stronger his telekinesis becomes.
  • Foil: To Izuku, the deuteragonist. While both of them have powerful quirks and want to use their powers to help others, Mob was born with his quirk and doesn't want to use it as much in fear of hurting others. He also believes that everyone is equal regardless of what type of quirk they have.
  • Hates Being Touched: As stated above, he doesn't like it when strangers touch him on a whim. Only his master and his closest friends can do so to minor degrees.
  • In-Series Nickname: Referred to as "Mob" by his friends and master. Bakugou calls him "Bowl for Brains".
  • Innocently Insensitive: Mob openly stating how he's no different from his classmates regarding quirks strikes a nerve with Izuku who learned from experience that not all people are born on equal level.
  • Literal-Minded: His manner of thinking is considered blunt and simplistic. Present Mic even mentions how he takes everything described to him in a literal way.
  • Martial Pacifist: Mob personally doesn't enjoy how U.A. encourages its students to hurt each other with their quirks. And while he will use his telekinesis to tranquilize a violent situation, Mob hopes that he can become a hero without resorting to using violence. Unfortunately for him, the staff does not agree with his belief.
  • Mind over Matter: His quirk allows him to levitate and move any object or person.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He has this reaction after he uses his quirk to harm a villain with his own fire power. To Mob, he counts it as a failure for using his quirk to hurt someone.
  • Sincerity Mode: Mob's way of speaking involves giving short and straightforward answers.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Mob can still go into ???% whenever he's knocked unconscious and becomes disturbingly violent towards anything he perceives as a threat.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Mob's quirk is considered one of the strongest quirks of his generation but he's mentally unprepared to manage his quirk on his own like the other students.

    Izuku Midoriya

The deuteragonist of the story. An enthusiastic admirer of heroes who finally gets to live his dream of becoming a hero himself. After growing up quirkless, Izuku believes that he needs to work even harder to maintain his dream and live up to All Might's potential. He inherited the quirk One For All.

  • Ascended Fanboy: He loves all heroes but his favorite of all is All Might. And now he's living his dream of becoming All Might's successor.
  • Awesome by Analysis: He enjoys analyzing the quirks of heroes and thinking of strategies when the situation calls for it.
  • Demoted to Extra: Downplayed. He's still a main character, but is the deuteragonist.
  • The Determinator: Even if it costs him his bones, Izuku is willing to push himself to the limits to master OFA.
  • Foil: To Mob, the protagonist. While both of them have incredible quirks and want to help others through the hero life, Izuku grew up quirkless and feels that he needs to use OFA as much as possible, even if it costs him his physical being. He also learned and accepted early on that not everyone was born on equal level.
  • Glass Cannon: He ends up breaking his bones everytime he uses OFA's impressive power.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He often feels jealousy towards Mob for being blessed with an incredibly strong quirk and even having the opportunity to apprentice under a hero before going into U.A.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: After the Sports Festival, Izuku has developed a bad reputation among many Hero companies deeming him as too much of a liability because of his self-destructive quirk.
  • Motor Mouth: Can talk non-stop when it comes to analyzing a person's quirk or asking himself a variety of questions on a single subject.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He feels ashamed of himself for yelling at Mob despite the bowl cut boy showing concern for his well being. He also feels frustrated that he couldn't keep neither Mob or All Might's promises.

Class 1-A

    Katsuki Bakugou

Izuku's childhood bully and the rival of the story. An aggressive and violence-happy boy who looks down at everyone believing himself to be the strongest hero hopeful of them all. His quirk is Explosion.

  • Always Second Best: Bakugou's spotlight has been taken from him now that Mob is enrolled at U.A. and how his powerful quirk has made him the winner of the Entrance Exam and the Sports Festival.
  • Having a Blast: His quirk allows him to create explosions from the palms of his hands.
  • Hey, You!: Just like in canon, he has a tendency to give unflattering nicknames to his classmates.
  • Hit Me, Dammit!: To Bakugou's frustration, Mob never goes all out whenever they fight as he prefers to use his quirk to restrain the boy.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: He loathes the idea of being on the same level as the other extras and believes himself to be better than everyone. Mob even calls him out on this saying that he's actually afraid of being seen as an equal.
  • It's All About Me: His superiority-inferiority complex is as strong as ever in this AU. Even after Mob beats him during the final rounds of the Sports Festival, Bakugou refuses to accept it because it didn't go his way.
  • Sir Swears Alot: He still likes to curse at everyone.
  • Sore Loser: Despite losing to Mob during the Sports Festival, Bakugou refuses to count it as a loss and vows to destroy the bowl cut kid in the future.

    Ochaco Uraraka

A cheerful and air-headed girl who dreams of being a hero to financially support her parents. She has bursts of confidence and tries to motivate her friends to be as confident too. Her quirk is Gravity.

  • Book Dumb: Ochaco confesses to Mob that she doesn't have good grades but that shouldn't mean that she isn't smart.
  • Bully Hunter: She shows shades of this during the Sports Festival Arc as she frequently calls out Bakugou for tormenting Izuku and Mob.
  • Gravity Master: She has the power to make anything, including herself, float via zero gravity.
  • In-Series Nickname: Referred to as "Round Face" by Bakugou.
  • Only in It for the Money: She isn't proud of it but she wants to be a hero so she help her parents with their financial problems.

    Sero Hanta

A laid-back kid with a Cheshire Cat Grin. He becomes a close friend of Mob's after the bowl cut boy rescues him during the Entrance Exam. His quirk is Tape.

  • Ascended Extra: Sero becomes a more recurring character after joining Mob and Izuku's social circle.
  • Duct Tape for Everything: His quirk allows him to dispense as much tape as he can.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He calls out Izuku for taking the Sports Festival too seriously. He points out that they have two more years at U.A. and that there will be other times for them to showcase their talents.

    Iida Tenya

A hulking nerd who's a stickler for school etiquette. While becoming a friend to the boys, his blunt way of speaking makes for some surprising reactions. His quirk is Engine.

  • No Indoor Voice: Practically shouts everything he says in a respectful tone of voice.
  • Rich Kid: He privately admits that he comes from a wealthy family of famous heroes.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: He wears glasses and is dedicated to his studies. Mob even states that he voted for him as class president because of this reason.
  • Super-Speed: His quirk gives him the uncanny ability to run really quick.

    Tsuyu Asui

A sweet girl who is unafraid to speak her mind. She can read the room and understands how most people are acting. Her quirk is Frog.

  • Brutal Honesty: She won't mince words whenever she's talking to someone.
  • Frog Men: She's half frog and has all the powers that come with being one.
  • Insistent Terminology: She asks that her classmates call her "Tsuyu" as a sign of friendship.

    Shouto Todoroki

A serious boy who is determined to become his own type of hero. His cold demeanor make it difficult for others to bond with him. His quirk is Half-Cold Half Hot.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: He tells Izuku how his father created his family for the sake of making the perfect hero that would surpass his rival All Might. This in turn resulted in Endeavour inflicting various forms of abuse onto Shouto, his mother and his siblings.
  • Graceful Loser: In the final round of the sports festival, he gets gently placed out of the ring by Mob's telekinesis and he takes his loss without issue.
  • Non-Lethal K.O.: His preferred method of beating his opponents is to trap them in solid ice.
  • The Rival: The main rival of the Sports Festival Arc.
  • The Stoic: He's always in a serious mood and hardly expresses any positive emotions.

U.A. Staff

    All Might/Toshinori Yagi

Japan's Number One Hero and Izuku's mentor. As the years of saving Japan have taken a toll on his physical health, Toshinori decided to make Izuku his new successor in the hopes of maintaining peace. Despite his heroic service, he's very new at instructing Izuku and makes mistakes every now and then. His quirk is One For All.

  • Bad Liar: He has a hard time when it comes to lying.
  • Blood from the Mouth: He tends to vomit blood when he's in his civilian form. He tries to pass this off as a common sickness rather than a long-term consequence of his heavy hero career.
  • Clark Kenting: He still uses his All Might form for public appearances but tries to keep his true form as Toshinori Yagi a secret.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Him encouraging Izuku to go all out with his quirk in order to show the world who he is has resulted in the boy breaking his body and going to the emergency room on a daily basis. He also puts a ton of unintentional pressure on him by reminding him of his destiny as the new holder of OFA.
  • Large Ham: He goes over the top as All Might.
  • Mirror Character: To Reigen. Along with training a boy with remarkable power, Toshinori believes that Reigen is using his student for selfish reasons. Reigen likewise believes Toshi of doing the same thing. As All Might, his Large Ham tendencies have been compared to Reigen's eccentric personality.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He feels genuine remorse towards Mob for allowing him to get hurt during the Battle Trial Arc despite the boy voicing concern over the need for the students to hurt each other.

    Shouta Aizawa

Class 1-A's creepy homeroom teacher. A serious man who holds his students to high standards throughout their classes to ensure that they'll give their best performance. He often finds himself at odds with Mob's pacifist nature and Izuku's self-destructive tendencies. His quirk is Erasure.

  • Brutal Honesty: He isn't one to sugarcoat things when talking to his students or coworkers.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Realizing that Mob is still having doubts about being a hero and isn't as committed to the ideals, he gives him an ultimatum: he either gives his best performance during the upcoming Sports Festival or risk being expelled from the hero program.
  • Good Is Not Soft: He's a professional hero but his no-nonsense demeanor puts everyone around him on edge. Not to mention that he has no restraint during his patrol as shown when he ambushes the teen mugger that Reigen was close to talking down.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Aizawa explains to Reigen that most of the kids who enter U.A. have shallow dreams of becoming big-shot heroes without realizing the consequences that come with the title. His extremist methods are meant to show them what the real world is like for heroes.
  • Not So Similar: Upon their first meeting, Reigen thinks to himself that the Erasure Hero's blank expression reminds him of his pupil. Although he notes that his presence feels more oppressive and dark compared to Mob's gentle and quieter demeanor.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: He uses exaggerated threats like expulsion in order to drive the students to perform better and not to screw around.
  • Stern Teacher: Despite his cold attitude, he does care about his students and wants them to prosper.

    Recovery Girl

The head nurse at U.A. She'll affectionately care for any students in need of medical attention but she will openly express disapproval for those who make it a habit. Her quirk is Heal.

  • Healing Hands: She kisses people to make them feel better.
  • The Medic: The nurse of the school who tends to critically wounded students.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She shows her sugar side to her patients and shows her ice side to Toshinori.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: She's the main person who calls out Toshinori for pushing Izuku too far with his quirk. She frequently reminds him that his reckless actions will result in dire consequences for his pupil's well being.

Spice City

    Reigen Arataka

Mob's master and the Greatest Hero of Spice City. A shifty man with a silver tongue and a not-so Hidden Heart of Gold, he encourages Mob to become a hero so he can better control his quirk and offers moral support throughout his journey. It's all but stated that he's quirkless.

  • All-Loving Hero: He still has his heart of gold and offers kindness wherever he can. The biggest example is him offering a job opportunity to a random teenager that tried to mug him.
  • Badass Normal: Despite being quirkless, he's able to handle himself quite well against low level criminals. He also taught Mob self-defense training to keep himself safe.
  • Benevolent Boss: Reigen is much more thoughtful towards Mob in this AU as he offers emotional support when needed and even treats him to big breakfasts before momentous occasions.
  • Change the Uncomfortable Subject: He does this whenever someone asks him about his quirk.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Due to his quirkless nature along with growing up poor, Reigen's childhood was filled with hardship from bullies and uncaring adults.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After running into the bathroom in tears after having a really bad day, Kid!Reigen realized that quirks in general were not as useful as they're hyped up to be and that it's possible for people to do good things without using a quirk.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Reigen has a made a heroic identity for himself as The Illusionist. It's downplayed since his services involve rescuing lost pets or helping clients with Family Drama.
  • Friend to All Living Things: He enjoys animals and offers to find lost pets at the Heroics Consultation Office.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: He doesn't like swearing in front of Mob and tries very hard to censor himself so that his pupil won't copy his vice.
  • Informed Poverty: It's heavily implied that Reigen's family was one of the families impacted by Spice City's financial crisis. His financial situation hasn't improved in the present day given his use of coupons to pay for meals and how the Heroics Consultation Office building, which doubles as his apartment, is not in the best condition.
  • Likes Clark Kent, Hates Superman: Inverted. He's a huge All Might fan but he doesn't trust Toshinori based on his questionable training methods.
  • Papa Wolf: He becomes protective of Mob when the paparazzi and random strangers begin to harass him for winning the Sports Festival.

    Momozo Takenaka

An old middle school friend of Mob's with a tendency to tease others. His quirk is Telepathy.

  • Ascended Extra: He was only prominent during the final chapters of the MP100 manga but has a more recurring role here.
  • The Gadfly: He enjoys making sassy remarks at Ritsu.
  • Telepathy: His quirk allows him to read other people's minds.
  • The Shrink: He dreams of being a professional psychiatrist but believes that his mind reading quirk may make things harder for him.

    Ritsu Kageyama

Mob's younger brother. Despite the age difference, he cares deeply for his brother and wants to protect him however he can. His quirk is never explicitly shown in the story, though the author says that he can project his emotions outward, which is an inverse of his brother's empathy quirk.

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Ritsu is now born with a quirk but it's currently unknown as to what exactly it is. It's implied to be some kind of emotion projection, though he can't always control it.
Takenaka: Relax. Or you’re gonna give your eighty-year-old neighbor a heart attack with the amount of nerves radiating off of you. Mob said it’s fine, so it’s fine.
Ritsu: No! No, I’m fine brother.
  • Little Brother Instinct: Ritsu is always looking out for his older brother and worries for his safety. Especially now that he's attending a heavily recognized, and targeted, Hero Academy.

    Ichi Mezato

Mob's classmate from middle school who dreams of being a successful reporter. Her quirk is unknown.

  • Awesome by Analysis: Just by reviewing message boards, Mezato instantly figures out about Bakugou's abuse towards Izuku throughout their childhood.
