Supporting Characters

Makoto's Classmates

Makoto's classmates from a Danganronpa universe. In this alternate universe, The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History does not ever happen. So everyone lives out their normal lives.

     In General
  • Adaptational Heroism: The class is generally quite a bit nicer since there's no killing game going on. Of course, Byakuya's still a jerk and if Toko still has Genocide Jack in her head is up in the air.
    • The prime example of this trope is Junko Enoshima, the Big Bad of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Unlike her prime counterpart, she is friendlier (having a somewhat stable relationship with her sister) and lacks any despair-induced insanity.
  • The Ghost: Hifumi gets a mention, but doesn't show up. Mondo and Kiyotaka have a brief cameo in an opening shot, but likewise go unseen, while Leon is only talked to briefly.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Both Celeste and Aoi can be dated.

     Kyoko Kirigiri

Kyoko Kirigiri

Ultimate Detective. A mysterious girl whose presence radiates a cold and distant attitude. In reality, she is the daughter of Headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy.
  • Aloof Ally: Towards Makoto Naegi, but she becomes closer to him as time goes on.
  • Born Detective: Comes from the family.
  • Brutal Honesty: She never wastes time getting to the point, even if it comes off as rude.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Despite getting involved the whole multiverse plot and nearly getting killed in the process, she's not even fazed. Her series' prequel materials reveal her share of near-deaths.
  • Damsel in Distress: Zig-zagged. She spends most of Chapter 3 as a hostage. She manages to escape and trick the villains into thinking she escaped into the forest. Even though she couldn't escape them, she bought herself some time until Makoto and the party come to her rescue.
  • Great Detective: This is her expertise. In her main series, she spent most of the game solving more mysteries than anyone else on pure instinct. This ultimately helps her evade No. 9 when Solo brought her to an alternate Umineko universe. It does give her time for Makoto and the party to rescue her.
  • Hates Small Talk: Implied in the prologue. If Makoto talks to her again shortly after her introduction, she'll show hints of annoyance if he's just wasting her time.
  • Hidden Depths: She actually does a lot better mastering some of the Rune Classes, more so than Makoto.
  • Hime Cut: Fits her aloof Ice Queen persona.
  • Kid Detective: "Teenage Detective" would be more accurate for her.

     Sayaka Maizono

Sayaka Maizono

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sayaka_maizono_illustration.png
As the Ultimate Pop Sensation, Sayaka is the lead singer of a popular idol group. She and Makoto were classmates but never got the chance to speak with each other due to their different social stature. Years later, they reunited when they joined Hope's Peak Academy. She and Aoi got involved in the multiverse crisis when they got caught in one of the rifts. Ever since then, she supports Makoto and his companions.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the original VN, Makoto had a clear crush on Sayaka while she initially saw him as a fall guy for her murder attempt, albeit one she did like enough to leave a Dying Clue out of remorse. In this continuity, the two are good friends and Sayaka is crushing on him first while Makoto doesn't have any initial interest.
  • Ascended Extra: Since her universe is much more stable than its main universe, she is much more involved in the main story. She is also one of Makoto's potential love interests.
  • Damsel in Distress: Briefly when she gets caught in a rift and lands in an Umineko universe. No. 9 tried to use her and Aoi as hostages, but got pounded by Mei-Fang.
  • Girly Girl: The girliest out of the class.
  • Idol Singer: Self-explanatory.
  • Ship Tease: Much like her original counterpart, with Makoto. She's also one of five potential romance leads.
  • The Tease: She loves pulling Makoto's leg or just mess with him.
    Sayaka: I'm an esper.
    Makoto: ....
    Sayaka: Just kidding!

     Aoi Asahina

Aoi Asahina

A bubbly girl who is also the Ultimate Swimming Pro. Although she is best at swimming, she is also skilled in all kinds of other athletic activities. However, she isn't exactly the sharpest thinker. She and Sayaka got involved in the multiverse crisis when they got caught in one of the rifts. Ever since then, she supports Makoto and his companions.

  • Big Eater: And boy, she can eat a lot and still retains her womanly figure. She also eats donuts. Lots of LOTS of donuts. Considering she's the Ultimate Swimming Pro, that might explain how she hasn't gained weight from all the sweets she ate.
  • Damsel in Distress: Briefly when she gets caught in a rift and lands in an Umineko universe. No. 9 tried to use her and Sayaka as hostages, and would've had Makoto killed had Mei-Fang not saved them.
  • The Ditz: Not exactly the brightest and certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed.
  • Expressive Hair: Her ponytail gets spiky when she's angry, and droops down when she's sad.
  • Genki Girl: Comes with the territory.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Certain attributes (read: her chest) of hers tend to be front and center.
  • Nice Girl: Easily one of the friendliest and kindest students.
  • Playful Cat Smile: When particularly excited, she makes this classic smile even holding her hands close to her face as if they're paws.
  • Ship Tease: A lot more apparent with Makoto than her main counterpart. She looks out for him and encourages him to join Sakura's dojo.

Allies from other universes

Characters from other universes who are aware of the Realmwalkers' existence. They're willing to lend a helping hand to Makoto.

     Bernkastel

Bernkastel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bernps3_5951.png
A mysterious girl who hails from an alternate universe of When They Cry. Unlike her original counterpart, she lacks any malicious intent but her personality remains intact. She discovers Makoto and his companions when they first arrive at her universe. She has been watching their every movement and she begins to gain interest in Makoto. She visits him via a dream and tells him that she'll support him with his newfound Summon powers.

Others

Characters from different series but of alternate universes.

Fire Emblem: Fates

Alternate Universe based on the tactical role-playing game, Fire Emblem: Fates. In this universe, it is based on the Revelations route.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bdd04ba70a8e3185e92e782f59d388f8.jpg
A young boy from the Wind Tribe. Despite his age, he possesses an incredible talent for spells and always demands to be treated as an adult. He is Rhajat's father.

     Subaki

Subaki (Tsubaki)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/283px_fef_subaki_02.png
An easy-going young man who is also a retainer of one of the Hoshidian Royalties. While the heroes of this universe are off to the Invisible Kingdom, Subaki is one of the few soldiers who volunteer to stay behind.

  • Insufferable Genius: This is Subaki we're talking about. Even when he sees Makoto, Lion, and Rhajat disposing monsters from another universe, he admits they're not but not perfect as he is.

Umineko

Alternate Universe based on the visual novel series, Umineko: When They Cry. In this universe, the murder mystery still happens albeit with different characters.

     Ronove

Ronove

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ronove_ps3_3496.png
A demon servant that resides in Umineko universe and the head of Golden Witch's set of furniture. He serves as one of the bosses when Makoto and his companions are in this universe.

  • Barrier Warrior: He specializes in creating magical barriers. In his boss fight, he uses this to deflect spells or counterattack. He loses this ability when Rhajat casts a powerful hex on him by the end of the fight, followed by getting bombarded with the party's strongest attacks.
  • Battle Butler: He certainly looks the part.
  • Flower Motifs: Roses. Elegant, yet hides thorns. Even one of his attacks is called "Elegant Rose."
  • Noble Demon: Much like his original counterpart, he is this from the start. Even when he lost to Naegi and his companions, he gracefully takes a bow and wishes them the best of luck.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Unlike Hans from the previous chapter, Ronove poses as an actual threat to the party. He has only one weakness, can buff himself, and is the first boss to pack a Soul Break. Ronove's fight is where you have to pay more attention to using buffs and debuffs in order to gain an advantage over Ronove.
