Characters / Rainbow Six Extraction REACT

Go To

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/react_logo.png
REACT, or the Rainbow Exogenous Analysis & Containment Team, is a global task force assembled from the most seasoned specialists under Rainbow's jurisdictions to combat the emergent Archæan threat world-wide.

General tropes

  • Arbitrary Headcount Limit: No reason at all was given as to why you can only be in a team of three at most in a given Incursion. While the Solo Incursion Codex entry suggests that with fewer active threats present, the Archæan response will not be as hostile, it's not at all clear why REACT can't just send in more operators who will be more equipped to handle the increased danger level instead.
  • All Your Powers Combined: At least arsenal-wise. Since there's no longer a distinction between Attackers and Defenders, all operators can draw from the same pool of gadgets, meaning that no group of agents will be barred from using stun grenades, for example. Certain operators will also be able to use guns that once belonged exclusively to another, such as Fuze and Finka sharing the Spear .308, or Rook being able to unlock Lion's V308 for his own use.
  • Never Say "Die": Operators cannot "die" in this game, only KO'ed and covered in stasis foam when their health hits 0 after being downed once. A KO'ed operator who weren't extracted by their allies will be declared MIA and have to be rescued the next time you launch an Incursion on that same map, before they can become playable again. The number of times a given operator is expected to go MIA and be rescued can reach ridiculous levels, but the operators themselves will be no worse for wear.

     Alibi

Aria "Alibi" de Luca

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alibi_extraction.png
Voiced By: Tara Nicodemo (EN)
Date of Birth: December 15
Ability: Prisma Drone
Specialties: Lure, Recon

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Three.
  • Artistic License – Military: As was the case in Siege, her Keratos .357 can accept suppressors, even though the flash gap between the cylinder and the breech will allow gunfire to escape from and render the device useless for noise suppression.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: One of her secret unlockable Elite-tier uniforms lets Alibi dress as her Protean clone. It's entirely cosmetic, however, and will have no effect on actual gameplay.
  • Doppelgänger Spin: Her Prisma holograms now scan any Archæan trying to attack them. An Advancement upgrade also allows Alibi to project a hologram from any drone she's piloting as well.
  • Fragile Speedster: As usual, Alibi starts the game with a 1-Armor rating and 3-Speed, which lets her run laps around her enemies but not take raw damage from them. Later Advancement levels turn her into more of a Lightning Bruiser instead, with beefier guns, more armor, and even higher speed.
     Capitão

Vicente "Capitão" Souza

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/capitao_extraction_1.png
Voiced By: Demore Barnes (EN)
Date of Birth: November 17
Ability: TAC MK0 Crossbow
Specialties: Smokescreen, Area Denial

As part of The Architects, Capitão is unlocked at Development Milestone 17. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year One.
  • Auto-Revive: He's one of the operators with the Resilient Revival perk, allowing him to kill enemies while DBNO to refill his bleedout meter and revive himself.
  • Glass Cannon: He starts the game as a 1-Armor and 3-Speed operator with a lot of big guns, though later Advancement upgrades will bump him up to 3-Armor.
  • Retirony: Invoked when Capitão is selected for a mission, where he will wonder aloud if Rainbow will approve of his retirement if he pulls off this one final mission for them. Actually subverted since A) Operators can't die in Extraction no matter what you do, and B) Capitão will always be available for picking from the roster, so he can't actually go through with his retirement either way.
  • Smoke Out: Cap retains his smokescreen bolts from his mainline appearance.
  • Trick Arrow: Smokescreen bolts return from Siege as one of his ammo choices, while the Asphyxiating bolts are replaced with the functionally-similar Venom type.
     Doc

Gustave "Doc" Kateb

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doc_extraction.png
Voiced By: Alex Ivanovici (EN)
Date of Birth: September 16
Ability: Health Shots
Specialties: Health Boost, Range Revive

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Auto-Revive: One of the reasons why player groups in higher-difficulty settings will bring him and/or Finka, since being able to quickly get an operator out of DBNO especially in the heat of battle is an invaluable time save.
  • Boring, but Practical: His Health Shots don't give additional buff like Finka's Adrenal Surge, nor can they prevent KO if you've already been into DBNO once, but having an instant buffer of up to 30 temporary HP isn't something to sneeze at, especially when he's available from the get-go.
  • Magikarp Power: Doc's Health Shots only begin to show their true usefulness at high Advancement tiers, since they only heal for 15 to start with, which goes away quickly even on the lowest difficulty. At max Advancement, Doc can heal his teammates for up to 30 temporary HP, which makes him incredibly strong when an ally is in desperate need of health or an instant revive, and pairing him with fellow GIGN operator Rook can be a very strong combo for defense-oriented missions.
  • Mighty Glacier: Doc is bar none the slowest operator in Extraction, capping out at a measly 2-Speed at max Advancement, whereas his fellow Heavy Armor agents will receive a bump to 3-Speed at the very least, but he makes up for this with his utility and good selection of punchy weapons.
     Echo

Masaru "Echo" Enatsu

Voiced By: Shuuhei Kinoshita (EN)
Date of Birth: October 31
Ability: Yokai Drone
Specialties:

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year One.
  • Drone Deployer: His kit is largely similar to how it was in Siege, but the one big change to the Yokai is that it's now fully capable of flight instead of just sticking to surfaces, and Echo can pilot it around and shoot at enemies with the sonic blast to disorient them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Echo first appeared in the reveal trailer for the Storm Spiker, several weeks before he officially makes his appearance as a playable operator. His unfinished gameplay build was also datamined where the Yokai is one of the more "complete" aspects of his kit.
     Ela

Elżbieta "Ela" Bosak

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ela_extraction.png
Voiced By: Monica Nowak (EN)
Date of Birth: November 8
Ability: Grzmot Mine
Specialties: Stun, Push

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Two.
  • Desperation Attack: Ela regains her old ability to stow an additional Grzmot charge on her body, where she will pop it when in DBNO to stun nearby Archæans to buy her teammates some time to pick her up. This mine will not show up in her usual charge counter and can't be used otherwise.
  • Series Mascot: Game mascot, to be exact, where Ela is the most prominently-displayed operator in many of the game's cover artworks, and is also the first playable character to be confirmed for the game in the teaser trailer.
     Finka

Lera "Finka" Melnikova

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/finka_extraction.png
Voiced By: Becky Grimman (EN)
Date of Birth: June 7
Ability: Adrenal Surge
Specialties: Team Boost, Range Revive

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Three.
  • Auto-Revive: She can use her Adrenal Surge while DBNO to pick herself back up, which is a carryover from the changes made to her Siege counterpart that was implemented in High Caliber. Her Resilient Revival perk also lets her revive herself by killing enemies while in DBNO and filling up the bleedout meter.
  • Hour of Power: Unlike her Siege counterpart, who can only use Adrenal Surge three times per round, her ability in Extraction has one charge, but runs on a cooldown and can be activated again once it becomes available.
  • Super Mode: The Adrenal Surge functions similarly to its Siege counterpart, where affected allies will gain better weapon handling and temporary health. It also has the added benefit of preventing KO if a buffed teammate goes down before the effect wears off, regardless of whether or not they've been into DBNO before, making Finka an invaluable party member on higher difficulties, or in prolonged challenge missions where medkits are scarce and the enemy is unforgiving.
     Fuze

Shuhrat "Fuze" Kessikbayev

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fuze_extraction.png
Voiced By: Gabriel Furman (EN)
Date of Birth: October 12
Ability: Cluster Charge
Specialties: Bomber, Trap

As part of The Strong Arm, Fuze is unlocked at Development Milestone 10. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
     Gridlock

Tori Tallyo "Gridlock" Fairous

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gridlock_extraction.png
Voiced By: Rhona Rees (EN)
Date of Birth: August 5
Ability: Trax Stingers
Specialties: Area Control, Trap

As part of The Architects, Gridlock is unlocked at Development Milestone 17. For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Four.
  • Landmine Goes Click: Her level 10 Advancement turns deployed Trax patches into landmines that explode when destroyed. A Smasher stampeding through a laid patch of Trax will be basically stunlocked by the explosions until it dies.
     Hibana

Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hibana_extraction_1.png
Voiced By: Laura Miyata (EN)
Date of Birth: July 12
Ability: X-KAIROS
Specialties: Breach, Sticky Charges

For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year One.
  • Action Mom: Now that her relationship with Pulse has resulted in Babies Ever After.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her X-KAIROS pellets can ignore Archæan carapace and deal unmitigated damage to them regardless of their armor. This makes her somewhat of an inverted Skill Gate Character, where she sees little use on lower difficulties due to enemies generally not boasting much protection, but becomes much more useful on harder settings where Smashers and shielded Proteans are the norm.
  • Babies Ever After: The logical endpoint of her and Pulse dating in Siege, although if they are married she didn't take his last name. Their daughter, Maho, is kept at the Pioneer's daycare while her parents are out on a mission.
  • Battle Couple: If she and Pulse are in the same team.
     IQ

Monika "IQ" Weiss

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iq_extraction.png
Voiced By: Kristina Klebe (EN)
Date of Birth: August 1
Ability: RedEye Mk. IV Spectre
Specialties: Scanner, Recon

As part of The Backbone, IQ is unlocked at Development Milestone 5. For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • True Sight: By default, her RedEye can spot REACT equipment boxes through walls, while subsequent Advancement upgrades allows IQ to see Archæan structures like Nests and Arch Spines, which basically lets her do what she typically does in Siege. With further upgrades, she will also be able to spot Lurkers, as well as any other Archæan that has been cloaked by one.
     Jäger

Marius "Jäger" Streicher

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jager_extraction_placeholder_1.png
Voiced By: Michael Sinterniklaas (EN)
Date of Birth: March 9
Ability: ADS-MKV "Magpie"
Specialties: Sentry, Area Control

As part of The Backbone, Jäger is unlocked at Development Milestone 5. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Fragile Speedster: He starts as a 1-Armor and 3-Speed operator. Unlike his fellow 1-Armor operators, however, Jäger doesn't have any further speed upgrade in his Advancement tiers.
  • The Turret Master: His ADS have been refitted to firing micro explosives at nearby Archæan in addition to their usual purpose, which has been reduced significantly due to there being only a small handful of enemies who fire destructible projectiles anymore.
     Lion

Olivier "Lion" Flament

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lion_extraction.png
Voiced By: Shawn Baichoo (EN)
Date of Birth: August 29
Ability: EE-ONE-D Drone
Specialties: Motion Sensor, Area Recon

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Three.
  • Action Dad: If his bio is any indication, Lion seems to have had significantly more success connecting with his son Alexis in the Extraction timeline than he did in Siege, with the boy providing him with a much-needed morale boost that the REACT leadership sees as a net-positive effect that should be encouraged.
  • Blood Knight: Unlike his fellow operators, who simply make snippy or altruistic quotes when selected, Lion mostly only cares about killing Archæans.
Lion: I look forward to seeing these Archæans expire.
  • Hour of Power: His EE-ONE-D Drone now only has a single charge, but runs on a cooldown that will let Lion use it again as soon as it has recharged.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: As ever, the EE-ONE-D can only detect targets that are mobile during its duration, so Lion has no way of picking up Archæans who are idling nearby and may stumble into them by accident. It also cannot scan Nests, Blinding Spore clusters, or Arch Spines, since these don't move, so Lion would be useless at finding these objectives in larger maps.
     Nomad

Sanaa "Nomad" El Maktoub

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nomad_extraction.png
Voiced By: Rasha Zamamiri (EN)
Date of Birth: July 27
Ability: Airjab Launcher
Specialties: Shockwave, Knockback

As part of The Architects, Nomad is unlocked at Development Milestone 17. For tropes applicable to her counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Year Three.
  • Artistic License – Military: Due to Extraction retaining the pre-High Calibre fire mode switching on some weapons, Nomad's AUG Para that she inherited from Kaid is able to change between safe-semi-burst operation by flicking a non-existent lever on the right side of the gun. A real AUG platform uses a progressive trigger design, where pulling the trigger half-way in will produce semi-automatic firing, while pulling it all the way back produces burst or automatic operation depending on the model.
  • One Hit Poly Kill: At Advancement 7, deployed Airjabs instead become landmines that instantly vaporize anything smaller than a Smasher if they step into the radius. Firing an Airjab into a mob of enemies will instantly obliterate them, giving Nomad some level of area denial in a pinch.
     Pulse

Jack "Pulse" Estrada

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pulse_extraction.png
Voiced By: Eric T. Miller (EN)
Date of Birth: October 11
Ability: Heartbeat Sensor
Specialties: Scanner, Recon

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Action Dad: Like his partner Hibana, Pulse willingly enlisted with REACT to ensure a safer future for their daughter Maho.
  • Battle Couple: With Hibana if she is in the same team.
  • Lightning Bruiser: His Advancement 10 upgrade lets Pulse turn his team into these, with their movement speed being bumped up to 4-Speed while he's having his sensor out.
  • The Little Detecto: His Heartbeat Sensor can pick up Nests, as well as VIPs and MIA operators in stages with rescue objectives. His Advancement 7 passive lets him detect them even without pulling out the sensor.
     Rook

Julien "Rook" Nizan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rook_extraction.png
Voiced By: Marc-André Brunet (EN)
Date of Birth: January 6
Ability: Armor Pack
Specialties: Team Armor

As part of The Backbone, Rook is unlocked at Development Milestone 5. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Boring, but Practical: As ever, his armor plates don't do anything fancy beyond giving the wearers a good Damage Reduction and KO prevention, but being able to stave off being "killed" on higher difficulties where healing is hard to come by and the enemy hits hard is one of the reasons why Rook is an invaluable squad member in Maelstrom Protocol and Crisis Events.
  • Magikarp Power: Similar to his fellow GIGN operator Doc, Rook's ability starts out weaker than the REACT equipment equivalent, where the Body Armor offers 5% more Damage Reduction than his plate inserts but is much more easily replenished. As he goes up the Advancement tiers, however, the armor plates begin to outshine Body Armor in terms of protection, and much more so their ability to be passively applied to a VIP in a rescue mission just by having Rook in the group.

     Sledge

Seamus "Sledge" Cowden

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sledge_extraction.png
Voiced By: Ryan Nicolls (EN)
Date of Birth: April 2
Ability: Tactical Hammer
Specialties: Melee, Stun, Breach

For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: One of his secret unlockable Elite-tier uniforms lets Sledge dress as his Protean clone. It's entirely cosmetic, however, and will have no effect on actual gameplay.
  • Nerves of Steel: His Codex entry notes how Sledge doesn't display stress indicators when facing Archæans in combat, and speculates that his headstrong nature and innate leadership qualities can give REACT an edge over the Chimeran threat.

     Smoke

James "Smoke" Porter

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smoke_extraction.png
Voiced By: Martin Sims (EN)
Date of Birth: May 14
Ability: Z9 Remote Gas Grenade
Specialties: Toxic Gas, Area Denial

As part of The Strong Arm, Smoke is unlocked at Development Milestone 10. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Action Dad: His Codex bio notes that Smoke's reason for joining up with REACT was to combat the Chimeran threat and ensure a safer future for his adoptive daughter.
  • Auto-Revive: With his Resilient Revival perk unlocked, Smoke can kill enemies while DBNO to refill the bleedout meter and pick himself back up.
  • Deadly Gas: His upgraded Z9 compound canisters deal significantly more damage to Archæans than the old Z8 grenades used to in Siege, with the added benefit of being completely safe for his allies to travel through. At Advancement 7, Smoke gains the ability to have the Z9 cloud scan the enemies standing in it, which can provide intel on potential survivors for the team to neutralize.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: One of his secret unlockable Elite-tier uniforms lets Smoke dress as his Protean clone. It's entirely cosmetic, however, and will have no effect on actual gameplay.
     Tachanka

Alexsandr "Tachanka" Senaviev

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tachanka_extraction.png
Voiced By: Vlado Stokanic (EN)
Date of Birth: November 3
Ability: Mounted LMG
Specialties: Turret, Area Control

As part of The Strong Arm, Tachanka is unlocked at Development Milestone 10. For tropes applicable to his counterpart in Siege, see Rainbow Six Siege Operators - Base Game.
  • Ascended Meme: Picking him in the pre-game screen will have Tachanka reference his memetic status.
Tachanka: The Lord and savior is here.
  • Company Cross References: One of his purchasable skin sets is themed after the Raving Rabbids.
  • Mighty Glacier: Tachanka is one of the slowest operators from the get-go at a measly 1-Speed, which can cause some problems where the more agile Archæans can catch up to him and deal considerable damage despite his starting 3-Armor, especially if he's caught on the Sprawl. An upgrade will later bump him up to 3-Speed, which alleviates this somewhat.
  • Nerves of Steel: Like Smoke, Tachanka was noted to be particularly unfazed by the Archæans he faced in combat, which is considered a useful trait for maintaining group cohesion by the REACT leadership.
  • The Turret Master: His signature LMG stand is back and more powerful than ever. It retains the ballistic shield upgrade that Mira made to it in Tachanka's first rework in Siege, and at Advancement 10 he can throw down two machinegun stands for his teammates to use.
