The Chimera Parasites are an extraterrestrial infection brought to Earth in several meteorites throughout history, culminating in a 2018 landing in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Initially thought destroyed, a strain evolved to develop combat-capable forms without needing human hosts to infect, leading to the appearance of the archæans that now threaten the world.

Tier 1

Grunt

The most basic archæans that attack in swarms.

They have a feral grunt variant that moves faster and can climb on walls.

Sludge

An animate mass of the Sprawl that spreads its infection and attacks non-Chimera organisms.

Spiker

Weak archæans that fire projectiles.

They have a storm spiker variant that deals higher damage and has homing projectiles.

Tier 2

Breacher

Archæans that function as living bombs, charging foes to detonate in powerful explosions.

They have two variants: bloaters, which create a cloud of toxic gas when they detonate, and smokers, which regularly create clouds of vision-obstructing fog.

Rooter

Archæans that fire immobilizing spikes to pin down foes and leave them vulnerable to the horde.

Sower

Archæans that create organic land mines that damage and blind whoever triggers them.

Tier 3

Lurker

Strategic archæans that turn others around them invisible.

Smasher

The largest and strongest archæans, with heavy carapace armor making them nearly invulnerable.

They have an immortal smasher variant whose carapace has grown over their weak point, making them completely unkillable.

Tormentor

Archæans capable of shifting between a humanoid form and a fluid mass, making it incredibly difficult to pin down.

Tier 4

Apex

The leaders of the archæans, capable of creating lesser breeds without the need for nests.

Rare strains of archæans designed to mimic and mirror the Chimera's greatest foes.
