Adam Taurus
The leader of the White Fang, seeking Faunus supremacy by subjugating humanity.
- Adaptational Backstory Change: Adam Taurus' backstory prior to joining the White Fang is far more horrifying and tragic here than it is in canon. According to RWBY: Amity Arena, Adam was an idealistic youth until he was held down and branded by the Schnee company. Here, Adam was taken as a slave alongside his family by the Schnee Dust Company, suffering from abuse and humiliation as a slave for years. His family dies one by one, and seeing humans take away everything from him finally caused him to snap.
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: The heroes who hear of his backstory do acknowledge how horrible it was, but point out that it does not excuse his actions, since he's willing to commit the exact same crimes against other Faunus.
- Hypocrite: Despite claiming to fight for Faunus rights, he has no qualms with threatening, maiming, or killing innocent Faunus when it's convenient for him. This is one of the biggest reasons his Freudian Excuse falls flat, since Adam is willing to mutilate innocent Faunus for opposing him, either directly in the case of Sun, or by ordering his subordinates to amputate the animal body parts of Faunus held captive in his prison, just like how the slavers amputated his mother's horns. Ghira and Velvet lampshade this, pointing out that Adam's actions make him no different from the human slavers that took his family away from him, and this just makes him all the more despicable.
- Locked Out of the Loop: He never learns the identity of the man who was responsible for what happened to his family; ironically it's Blake who helps bring the man in question to justice.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: On the receiving end of one from Velvet, who points out that he's inflicting the exact same crimes that he and his family endured on Faunus who disagree with him, and that if anything his family would be absolutely disgusted with him if they could see what he's become. Notably Adam is genuinely angered to the point of violently hitting her.
- Start of Darkness: The years of abuse he and his family endured at Ausz mountain, the massacre of the workers by the SDC's mercenaries, and finally the death of his mother and sister.
- Tragic Villain: He's even more nasty than he was in canon but at the same time it is made clear that it was the abuse he endured that turned him into a monster.
- Villains Want Mercy: When holding onto Blake as they're both dangling over the edge, he swallows his pride and begs Blake to save him. After everything he's done, Blake has no intention of helping him and instead lets him fall to his death.
