- Reasonable Authority Figure: Johnathon has been quite supportive of Ozpin, and does whatever he can to help the Guardians of Remnant whenever possible.
- Secret-Keeper: He knows about the existence of the Remnant Knights.
Benedict
Debut: Chapter 27: The Trial of Ozpin
The Military representative on the Vale Council.- Jerkass Has a Point: He's definitely not a nice man in the slightest, and his accusations against Ozpin are wrong, but he does make a good point about how the security measures taken to protect Amber were flawed to the point that it only allowed Cinder to claim the rest of the Fall Maiden's power. Even Qrow, Ozpin, and Glynda can't argue against that.
Citizens of Vale
Robert Ross
Chosen Voice Actor: Jeff Bennett
Debut: Chapter 9: Calm Before the Storm
A pilot of the Valean Militia working for the Vale Council and a close friend of Qrow Branwen. Most recently, he has been assigned to be the Flight Captain of Team Beacon's Mobile Airborne Command Ship (MACS) Hyperion One.
- Ace Pilot: From his commendable flying in the Battles of both Haven and Vacuo City, Robert can be considered as such.
- A Friend in Need: When Qrow requests his help in saving Ruby, Jaune and Pyrrha, he doesn't hesitates.
- Alliterative Name: Robert Ross.
- Cool Plane: The Hyperion One, of course.
- Gunship Rescue: Pulls this off with the Hyperion One.
- I Got You Covered: Provided crucial aerial support with the Hyperion One during the Battle of Vacuo City.
- Mysterious Past: As seen in Chapter 54, Robert stays away from graveyards unless he has to attend a funeral because of mysterious and personal reasons.

Cardin Winchester
Leader of Team CRDL. Russel Thrush

Beacon Academy
The Kingdom of Atlas
The Atlas Council
Alexandra Maximilius
Chosen Voice Actor:: Judi Dench
Debut: Chapter 55: Best Laid Plans
The Head Chancellor of the Atlas Council and part of the secret Guardians of Remnant Order. She's also the President of Omniscient Industries, one of the multinational corporate conglomerates within the Kingdom of Atlas. Her son is Valerian Maximilius, or better known as Commander Central, who serves within the Atlas military forces as the leader of Task Force Omega.
- Brutal Honesty: She doesn't mince words and is always straightforward when speaking with others.
- Custom Uniform: Her councilwoman uniform is described like this.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: While her 'evil' status remains to be seen, Alexandra clearly cares a lot about her son Valerian. However, Salem uses this to her advantage.
- Icy Blue Eyes: A distinct family trait she shares with her son, Commander Central.
- Ice Queen: Can come across as one within the Atlas Council.
- Mole in Charge: Alexandra holds what amounts to the highest position within the Atlas Council, and no one knows she secretly works for Salem.
- Power Hair: Wears her hair in a thick bun.
- The Mole: In Chapter 91 final shocking scene, Alexandra Maximilius is revealed as the Salem's other hidden spy within Atlas, and by extension the Guardians of Remnant. She's also revealed as the one who had secretly placed the mind control program into General Ironwood as well.
General James Ironwood
A General in Atlas's military and headmaster of their Huntsman academy.
- Adaptational Heroism: Ironwood in canon eventually undergoes a Face–Heel Turn and becomes a Knight Templar due to his growing paranoia and insistence that he is in the right. Here, while he does become an antagonist, it's only because he's brainwashed, and he returns to being an ally once he's free.
- Character Development: Being brainwashed forces him to face his pride and inability to trust others, keeping him from going off the deep end.
The Schnee Family
- Adaptational Heroism: While he's still far from a saint, Schnee is actually less villainous here than in canon. He dismisses Winter when she tries to warn him that Ironwood is being controlled and is fully prepared to leave her to fate in prison, though as soon as she's proven correct, he tries to make amends even when she refuses to forgive. He is shown taking steps to change himself for the better ever since.
- Bait the Dog: Inverted. It seems like Schnee has gone through an Ignored Epiphany and is buying Faunus slaves, but it turns out he was actually working to save them.
- Character Development: Goes from a corrupt racist businessman to a much more selfless individual, to the point that when he learns that his company was complicit in a brutal mass murder he helps arrest the perpetrators and goes public rather than sweeping it under the rug.
- Freudian Excuse: His wife was viciously murdered by a radical Faunus who's own wife had been murdered in the mines of the SDC.
- Reformed, but Rejected: Schnee sees the error of his ways after Winter is proven correct about Ironwood, but she rejects his apology and attempts to reconcile with her. She makes it painfully clear to Weiss that their father has a lot to do before she can even think of forgiving him.
- Cynicism Catalyst: To Willow Schnee.
- Death by Adaptation: As a result of being killed, Whitley was never born. She's still alive in canon.
- Named by the Adaptation
Citizens of Atlas
Debut: Chapter 5: Isolation
- Death of a Child: After finally managing to rebuild Penny, he is downright devastated when Ironwood plans to use her as a suicide bomber and he can't do anything to stop it. Ironwood outright telling him she's Just a Machine certainly rubbed salt on the wounds. Made worse in that Penny was a substitute for his own child.
Flynt Coal
Neon Katt
Katrina Faa
Iggy Gallup
Gerard Kimball
Debut: Chapter 6: A Matter of Family, Part I
A prosthetic doctor from Atlas. The Board Chairman of the SDC, and also the guy responsible for the death of Adam Taurus's family.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When Thorn and the Son of Salem arrive he gives them valuable information on accessing certain resources to survive. It doesn't work, both because Thorn is genuinely disgusted by him and because killing him will allow them to hold the loyalty of the Red Fang.
- And This Is for...: On the receiving end of a nonviolent version from Blake, who very bluntly calls him out on the fact that his indirect creation of Adam Taurus makes him responsible for all the people Adam hurt in his desire for revenge.
- Bad Boss: The guy's pretty much everything wrong with the SDC in human form; among other things he strong-armed his secretary into destroying evidence by threatening her son. This bites him in the ass when the secretary secretly preserves some of the evidence and gives it to Willow.
- Beyond the Impossible: He actually manages to be WORSE than canon Jacques Schnee, since at least Jacques never ordered a mass murder as far as the viewer is aware of. He also manages to make Adam sympathetic in hindsight, since not only were HIS actions what caused Adam to become a monster, his motives were far more selfish and petty.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Publicly, he's a good friend to Willow Schnee, a well-respected chairman of the board, and an uncle figure to Weiss and Winter. Privately, he's a heartless sociopath directly responsible for the death of THOUSANDS of innocent Faunus, as well as the guy who indirectly turned Adam Taurus into a fanatical Knight Templar obsessed with destroying humanity.
- Broken Pedestal: To Weiss, who considered him an uncle, and to Willow, who considered him a good friend.
- Consummate Liar: He's VERY good at hiding his monstrous nature; the only reason the truth comes out is because a.) his former secretary secretly kept evidence he ordered her to destroy and b.) one of the pieces of evidence was an audio recording of him that firmly establishes his role in the massacre while callously brushing off the Faunus who are going to die. Even Winter, who thought he was somewhat slimy, is shocked and angered when she learns just HOW vile he truly is.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: He's basically Jacques Schnee from canon, only even worse. Tellingly, no one is surprised to find out that he and Odinson were business partners.
- Dirty Coward: Gives up his stockpiles of money, dust and other resources to Salem purely to save his own skin.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Claims that he didn't engineer Gwenyth's death; how genuine it is is up in the air.
- Eviler than Thou: Manages to be even more despicable than Adam Taurus, since Adam, for all that he was a terrible person, was motivated by revenge for what was done to him and his family. Not only is Crawford the one who caused the losses Adam endured, his motivations (wanting to harvest unstable dust veins for money, using slave labour to get get around union requirements, and in the case of the murders covering his own ass) are FAR pettier.
- Fantastic Racism: Part of the reason he enslaved Faunus workers was because he considered them vermin who didn't matter.
- Greed: His defining trait.
- Greater-Scope Villain: He was the one who ordered the workers at Ausz mountain slaughtered when things became inconvenient, making him responsible for Adam's Start of Darkness (and thus every single one of his atrocities). In a roundabout way, he's also responsible for what Blake endured.
- Hate Sink: He only appears in three chapters, but he stands out as one of the single most loathsome people in the story; even leaving aside the countless deaths he caused his true nature (once he drop the charm) is that of a slimy manipulative sociopath who looks down on everyone. When confronted with an audio recording that his secretary kept (Which proved his role in the Ausz Mountain Massacre) his only response is to annoyedly refer to her as a "worthless bitch" that he should have killed years ago. He also gives up various stockpiles of dust and other financial resources that he's hoarded to Salem purely to save his own skin. It's saying something that ADAM of all people actually looks sympathetic in comparison.
- Hypocrite: Hates Faunus, but is entirely willing to use them to do his dirty work.
- It's Personal: Blake insists on being there when he's arrested because of all the pain he indirectly caused.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: Chapter 90 sees him finally arrested for all the atrocities he's committed over the years.
- Karmic Death: Is shot to death by the Son of Salem.....who was made from Adam Taurus's body. In a roundabout way, Adam's body kills the man responsible for his misery.
- Lack of Empathy: When other members of the board object to killing children Crawford is utterly indifferent and browbeats them into going along with it; when finally exposed he attempts to justify his crimes rather than take responsibility.
- Laser-Guided Karma: The one who slaps the cuffs on him is Blake Belladonna (a person who was abused by Adam Taurus, who in turn became a monster because of Crawford's actions).
- When he's killed in Chapter 99 his soul is sent to Limbo, where the only other inhabitant is Adam Taurus......aka the boy he turned into a monster. It's made clear that Adam will spend the rest of eternity punishing Crawford for his crimes.
- Never My Fault: Shows no remorse for his role in Adam's Start of Darkness
- Small Role, Big Impact: The man appears three chapters, but the fact that he engineered the Ausz Mountain Massacre means that he's indirectly responsible for pretty much every single one of Adam's atrocities from his abuse of Blake to the attack on Beacon.
- The Dog Bites Back: How he's ultimately exposed. He bullied his secretary into destroying evidence by threatening her child, but because she didn't want him to get away with it she secretly preserved some of the evidence (such as the signed orders to massacre the workers as well as an audio recording of the meeting where he not only suggested killing the workers but browbeat the more reluctant board members into going along with it). When she's mortally wounded in the attack on Atlas, she finally sends a message to Willow begging him to do the right thing. Since Willow has undergone Character Development he actually does so.
- The Sociopath: Unlike Willow (who does love his family and tries to be better), Crawford's a stone cold sociopath who is willing to do anything for profit no matter how cruel. Notably when confronted with Audio footage that firmly prove his role in the massacre his only reaction is annoyance and a comment that he should have had his secretary murdered years ago.
- This Cannot Be!: When the cuffs are placed on him, he devolves into a raving madman, unable to conceive of the fact that he's actually being punished for his crimes. He also has one right before the Son of Salem kills him.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: As mentioned in Greater-Scope Villain, he's the one who ultimately caused Adam's Start of Darkness, meaning that he's indirectly responsible for Adam's crimes.
- Villainous Breakdown: Devolves into mad ranting when he's arrested. Has another one when Raven tells him that he'll be spending the rest of eternity with the boy he turned into a monster.
- Villain with Good Publicity: Up until his former secretary contacts Willow with a dying declaration about his crimes everyone thinks he's an upstanding businessman rather than a heartless sociopath responsible for the deaths of thousands of Faunus.
- Would Hurt a Child: When one of the executives expresses reservation at the idea of killing children Crawford's only response is to coldly ask "what about them?"
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Engineered the death of a fellow executive at the hand of Faunus radicals and paid the radicals to shoot him in the leg purely so that he could use it to build himself as a symbol of "faunus cruelty." He also tries to slander his dead secretary as a liar before the audio recording of him suggesting the Ausz massacre (as well as bullying the more reluctant board members into going along with it) firmly proves his guilt.
A former friend of Ilia's, as well as the daughter of one of the perpetrators of the Ausz Mountain Massacre.
- Alpha Bitch: Used to be this in her youth.
- Break the Haughty: Her father's arrest utterly breaks her, and when she's accosted by reporters she's openly trying not to cry.
- Character Development: Used to be more bigoted against Faunus in her youth; her views softened as she got older and learned more, and learning her father's role in the Ausz Mountain Massacre serves as a final wakeup call.
- Everyone Has Standards: Was horrified to learn that her father helped to enslave and murder thousands of innocent Faunus.
- Former Bigot: Was highly racist against Faunus when she was younger, to the point she turned on Ilia when the later revealed her heritage. While she started to question things as she got older, it took Adam Taurus's defeat at the hands of Team Beacon, as well as the revelation that her father helped engineer the mass murder at Ausz Mountain for her to finally realize just how terrible her former views were.
- How the Mighty Have Fallen: Her father's arrest takes a toll on her social standing, reducing her to an outcast. Ilia takes no small pleasure in observing this.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Comes to feel this way about how she treated Ilia, especially after learning that her father's actions helped create Adam Taurus (as well as becoming an outcast herself).
- My Greatest Failure: Her treatment of Ilia when the later revealed she was a Faunus; getting more of a perspective (as well as learning of the horrific crimes her father helped carry out) causes her to realize just how terribly she treated her former friend.
- We Used to Be Friends: With Ilia; when Ilia outed herself as a Faunus Vera viciously rejected her, something that she bitterly regrets.
The Vorst Family
Husband of Idurina Vorst, and father to Anne and Elsa Vorst.
- Punny Name: His name references the word 'handsome', and is also a nod to Hans Christian Andersen.
Wife of Hanson Vorst, and mother to Anne and Elsa Vorst.
- Shout-Out: Her name is actually a portmanteau of two different names, Queen Iduna from Frozen, and Idina Menzel.
Anne Vorst
Chosen Voice Actor: Kristen Bell
Debut: Chapter 85: A Time to Mourn (first appearance), Chapter 86: Promises (full appearance)
Daughter to Hanson and Idurina Vorst, and Elsa Vorst's younger sister.
- Braids of Action: She has two braids, similar to that of Heliosia's own.
- Flower Motifs: The crocus flower, which is also the iconic flower of Arendelle from Frozen and a symbol of rebirth and Spring, is depicted in her clothing and her mourning wear.
- Inexplicably Identical Individuals: Anne looks like an exact copy of Elsa in terms of looks, save for the differences in her hair and eye colours. Also by sheer coincidence, she also looks quite similar to the current Summer Maiden, Heliosia Ainea.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She deviated from her usual kind-hearted and reasonable for a few moments in Chapter 86 when her voice nearly taking on an accusatory tone when she questioned Heliosia why didn't the latter and Amethyst allowed Elsa to fight alone. However, she gradually relents after hearing Heliosia's explanation.
- Shout-Out: To Princess Anna of Frozen in terms of her looks, character personality and her relationship to her elder sibling.
- Tragic Keepsake: Elsa gifted her with a snowflake hairclip made from the powers of the Winter Maiden before she left, and she kept it with her ever since. However, when it flurried into a pile of snow and melted, Anne knew then her elder sibling was gone.
Atlas Military Forces
Winter Schnee
Weiss's older sister and the direct subordinate of General Ironwood in the Atlesian military.
- Adaptational Heroism: Winter in canon believes highly in following her orders, regardless of the morality of such actions or if Weiss opposes her, though she is at least merciful enough to give her sister and her friends a head start. This is not the case in this story, where she actually questions Ironwood's plan to use Penny as a suicide bomber and chooses instead to help Weiss put a stop to it.
- Ascended Extra: So far in canon, Winter only makes one appearance in Volume 3 to meet with Weiss, and only has a major role in Volume 7. Here, she gets a bigger role as one of Team Beacon's mentors.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: As explained under Adaptational Heroism above, Winter actually chooses to help Weiss get Penny out of Atlas and opposes Ironwood rather blindly obeying his orders.
Jackson Chamberlain
Chosen Voice Actor: David Kaye
Debut: Chapter 3: The City of Haven
- An Arm and a Leg: Lost his left leg to the Grimm Chimera Commander in Chapter 81.
- Colonel Badass: His rank is Colonel in the Atlas military forces.
- Defiant to the End: Even when he was at the mercy of Norvik, Jackson simply says the following:Chamberlain: Never, you son of a bitch. (primes frag grenade)
- Frontline General: Hordes of Grimm invading the base he's currently stationed in? No problem, he just grabs the nearest assault rifle and start blasting away.
- Taking You with Me: Nearly does this with a frag grenade against the Grimm Chimera Commander, but was saved by his troops at the last possible moment.
- Only Sane Man: He's the only one in Atlas besides Winter and Weiss to question the morality and risks of Ironwood's plan to make Penny a suicide bomber, though he, unfortunately, can't do anything about it without needlessly getting himself into trouble, forcing him to help the heroes in secret.

- Archaic Weapon for an Advanced Age: Wields a claymore sword as his secondary backup weapon. He was mentioned to be skilled enough with it to give Winter a run for her lien.
- Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He earned his current rank within the Atlas military forces through his skills and abilities, not through any of his family connections. He was considered to be a Worthy Opponent to Winter Schnee herself back at Atlas Academy.
- Commanding Coolness: His rank within the Atlas Military Forces is Commander, which makes him the de facto leader of Task Force Omega.

- Alpha Strike: N1CK3L does this in Chapter 58 against an entire cell of Red Fang forces. He unloads almost all of his weaponry against hordes of Grimm while fighting in Vacuo City in Chapter 78.
