Lily, Violet, and Daisy
Misty's older sisters and Gym Leaders of Cerulean City.
- Always Someone Better: The 'big' girls were notably jealous when Mai and Makoto accentuate their bust sizes (the latter two were defending Misty at the time).
- Everyone Has Standards: They may pick on Misty most of her life, but they are still family. Plus, they warned Ash and co. about Lt. Surge's reputation.
Lt. Surge
Gym Leader of Vermillion City.
- Ascended Extra: He reappears in Chapter 24 for a surprise inspection of the Fighting-type Gym in Saffron City (and to allow Ash & Makoto's rematch with Brick).
- The Dreaded: Many Trainers dread battling him because of insanely strong Raichu often leading them to their Pokémon being hospitalized.
- Shock and Awe: Utilizes Electric-Type Pokémon for his Gym Battles.
- Irony: He preaches about evolving his Raichu immediately after getting it, only to lose to a Pikachu that learned all the moves Raichu only learns as a Pikachu.
Sabrina
Gym Leader of Saffron City and a powerful Paychic.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Sabrina was born with powerful psychic abilities. With how much she practiced with them, she began to grow emotionally detached with everyone, even turning her own mother into a doll and causing her father to start warning people to stay away from Saffron to protect them. She even went as far as to seal her emotions into a doll made of her psychic power.
- The Dreaded: Many see her as this due to her emotionless state and the fact she can control the police and Nurse Joy in the town and has turned people into dolls.
- Not So Stoic: When she and her personified emotions face off against Mewtwo. Even after he left, her personified emotions are still terrified of the encounter they just had.
Erika
Gym Leader of Celadon City and owner of a perfume store.
- Adaptational Badass: Like Ash, she's also capable of move combinations. Plus, she owns a Lurantis with the technique Solar Blade.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Notably nicer than her canon anime self.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: She was notably apologetic to Ash when he was banned from her Gym and had his badges and Pokémon confiscated without her approval. In fact, she would have asked for a simple apology for Ash's actions earlier.
Koga
Gym Leader of Fuchsia City.
- Adaptational Badass: Unlike Anime Koga who used a Venonat that evolved into Venomoth, he instead uses a team of Salazzle and Alolan Muk...meant for Trainers with a Badge counter higher than Ash currently has. He also owns a Greninja that holds onto the Soul Badge.
Blaine
Gym Leader of Cinnabar Island and a scientist. He also runs the Riddle Inn under disguise.
- Body Horror: His bandaged hand has a twisted distorted piece of flesh resembling Mewtwo's skin that connects him to the altered clone.
- Dark and Troubled Past: He was once friends with Dr. Fuji and his family, even going on excursions with Dr. Fuji. They discovered Mew together and was there when Amber died. As Dr. Fuji began to try to revive Amber through cloning and losing his wife in the process, Blaine stayed to help him. Soon Team Rocket got involved with the cloning project, Giovanni agreeing to help fund it on the condition he clones his daughter Mu and a Mew. Blaine would offer a part of his skin to use as genetic material to alter the Mew DNA to create Mewtwo.
