Incarnation Modifiers:
"Demon Earl"
Constellation Sponsor:
Lame Trickster
"That child is everything I've earned in this world"
A man who works in the finance team where Dokja and Sangah work, but only got in his position likely due to his connections. He manages to survive the first challenge along with a handful of others.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: In the novel he's described as fat, while his webtoons counterpart is skinnier in comparison.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: It's hinted at that he has a crush on Sangah. This is confirmed as he chews her out for getting them into this mess because she took the subway, and Sangah realizes he's the one who stole her bike which she's less than pleased about. He tries to justify it by saying he had offered to give her a ride and goes off on how he never made a move on her and only wanted to give her a ride out of the goodness of his heart. Off in the back Dokja realizes why despite his wealth Han Myungoh still took the subway and is more annoyed than anything.
  • Blessed with Suck: He kills the Warden and gains an exponential amount of experience. Only problem is, he's now cursed and will be hunted down by a creature who is basically the Warden's boss until he is dead.
  • Children Raise You: Eventually becomes a much more tolerable person after having a child and deciding that he will devote himself to her well-being no matter what the cost to himself.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He stole Sangah's bike in hopes that she would take his offer on getting a ride with him. She doesn't.
  • Dark Is Evil: He wears a black striped suit and is far from kind throughout his appearances.
  • Dirty Coward: Is willing to flee and leave Dokja on the bridge while hauling Sangah over his shoulder. He also sides with the other group who holds power over the survivors hiding in the subway station and immediately tells them they need to get rid of Dokja. When being taken away by the Ground Rats, he drags Sangah down with him and blames her for their predicament. After Dokja sets the survivors onto the group in the subway, Han Myungoh apparently fled from the scene and hasn't been seen since.
  • Doting Parent: Surprisingly so. After getting a daughter of his own, he outright says he'd do anything to protect her and keep her safe.
  • Hate Sink: He's pretty unlikable from the get-go and even some of the Constellations have grown to outwardly despise him.
  • The Load: He doesn't contribute much to the group and more often than not gets them into more trouble than they do getting out of it. Huiwon Jeong even explicitly sighs this when he ends up getting dragged away by a Ground Rat.
  • Money Is Not Power: He attempts to pay off the Dokkaebi so he could leave the game. The Dokkaebi incinerates the money and says that it had no value in his dimension.
  • Mister Seahorse: The Warden uses him as a "mother" as it forces its tentacle into Myungoh's mouth and implanting eggs inside of him.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Subverted. Dokja believes he only got into his position at the company due to nepotism and his money. Later on when he's trying to survive, he does everything he can to only save himself or get rid of Dokja. A lot of his plans end up with him falling into danger more than everyone else.
  • Spanner in the Works: If he hadn't stolen Sangah's bike so she takes the subway instead, she wouldn't have ended up in the game with Dokja and the others and become one of his closest allies.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He had apparently followed Sangah around to the point he stole her bike just so he could have an excuse to give her a ride. She ends up taking the subway instead which leads to them entering the game alongside Dokja.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Dokja threw the grasshoppers towards Sangah and the others so they can survive. Han Myungoh apparently killed a grasshopper, but doesn't even thank Dokja for it. He later on leaves Dokja to die on the bridge while carrying Sangah and later on tries to convince the ring-leader of the subway station to get rid of Dokja. When Sangah tries to save him from the Ground Rats but gets dragged along instead, he later blames her for getting them into this situation saying if she hadn't gotten on the subway they wouldn't be in this predicament.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Dokja turned the survivors onto the main group, he dashed off down the tunnels and hasn't been seen since. He later reappears during Dokja's journey through the 73rd Demon World as the vassal of the Demon King Asmodeus.

     Kim Namwoon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_2_795c378b00.jpg
"A new world requires new laws."
Incarnation Modifiers:
"Delusional Demon"
Constellation Sponsor:
Abyssal Black Flame Dragon

An edgy teen who was a supporting character and a companion of Yoo Junghyeok in the original novel. He takes delight in realizing he and the others are in a death game and encourages the passengers to try and kill each other to survive.
  • Albinos Are Freaks: He has white hair, red eyes, is a teen edge-lord who takes glee in others suffering. Yup, checks off the boxes. When he and Dokja meet again in the Underworld, he has notably chilled out a bit after his death and comments that his death gave him time to reflect on himself.
  • Asshole Victim: Despite him being part of the original cast in the novel, even Dokja admits he hates his guts and doesn't miss his presence.
  • Came Back Wrong: He's brought back as a vengeful demon during the second mission.
  • Death by Adaptation: In the original canon, he lived long enough to become a Wild Card ally for Yoo Joonghyuk. In Dokja's canon, he doesn't even make it past the first scenario, causing him to die incredibly early on to even Joonghyuk's surprise.
  • Hate Sink: He wasn't really written to be sympathetic, and even Dokja admits that he hated his character in the original novel. Subverted during the 1863rd turn Arc and his 999th Turn version where he is shown to be able to outgrow his initial attitude with the right help and grow into a much more mature and sympathetic version of himself. Dokja admits that he might have judged him too early after seeing him interact with the others.
  • Hypocrite: Seconds before he dies, he begs Dokja to help him saying people's lives were important. Dokja refuses to help him as he points out the former's own words of human life now being trash and coldly watches as the other dies.
  • Last Words: "N-no! I don't want to die! Please! Help me!!" He also repeats something similar when Dokja kills his reanimated corpse.
  • Meaningful Name: In the original novel he was later nicknamed the "Delusional Demon".
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: He is killed by the end of the first scenario when he was a major supporting character in the novel. This is something that comes as a shock to even Yoo Jonghyuk and Kim Namwoo's would be sponsor, Abyssal Flame Black Dragon.
  • Villains Want Mercy: When his time begins to run out and he can't kill Dokja, he begs the others to help him and spare him. Dokja points out his hypocrisy on saying it was everyone for themselves and only the strong survive, watching him scream for his life as his time runs out.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: He has white hair in the webtoons adaptation and cruelly attempts to beat a grandmother to death so he can survive.
  • Would Harm a Senior: He was willing to beat a grandmother to death to survive before Dokja stops him.
  • Your Head A-Splode: He is one of the many to die after the first challenge, whereas he lived to become a dangerous ally in the original novel.

Incarnation Modifiers:
"Humanity's Hero"
"The Prophet of Asgard"
"The Opponent of all the Stars
Nebula Sponsor:
Asgard

A woman who could ignore space constraints and freely enter the consciousness of other people. A woman who saw the future and tried to design the future of the world. Leader of the Zarathustra group and a member of the 10 Evils, Anna is the only person given the "Prophet" attribute and would become Yoo Junghyeok's archrival in the latter half of Ways of Survival.

  • Exotic Eye Designs: Her left eye has a red swirl in it. In the webtoon's her left sclera is black while her pupil is red. Kim Dokja notes it's likely an item she got from her sponsor worth about a million coins.
  • Living Lie Detector: Just like Yoo Joonghyuk, she has the ability to detect if people are lying to her. When Dokja meets her and claims he's a prophet, she immediately confirms he's lying, which he suspected would happen.
  • Magical Eye: Her left eye is noticeably different than her normal one, and turns out to be The Great Demon's Eye sold during the 1st scenario. Using it allows Anna to ignore spatial constraints and enter people's minds and dreams. Similiarly to Yoo Junghyeok's own Sage Eye, it allows Anna to see a target's personal information. As it turns out, the eye also used to belong to one of the Wenny Men.
  • Odd Name Out: Her name out of all of the other character's shows that she isn't from Korea. It's revealed that she's an American who grew up in Las Vegas.
  • Seers: She was the only character in the original canon who had the ability "Prophet" which let her see into the future and also passively neutralizes detection skills.

     Gong Pildu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_5_11abec565c_7.jpg
"You said You'd get rid of the Scenarios so I protected Seoul for you, yet you dare show up here with your child instead?!
Incarnation Modifiers:
"Armed Fortress Master"
"Armament Lord of Chungmuro''
Constellation Sponsor:
Defense Master

The Leader of the Landlord Alliance in charge of the Chungmuro area, Gong Pildu is a member of the 10 Evils in Ways of Survival and is usually one of its main villains, but because of Kim Dokja's influence ends up becoming one of the biggest allies that Dokja's group has and their main base defense.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Usually one of the members of the 10 Evils who tend to antagonize Yoo Jungyheok in his regressions, Dokja's contract with his constellation and his interactions turn him to a fairly good guy, even if he still acts grumpy at times.

     Han Donghoon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_2_01ecd21540.jpg
Attribute: "The Hermit King of Shadows"
A teen who prefers staying in an enclosed room, but has the power to give people internet access and spreading information or misinformation.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason he is quick to turn against his group was due to Dokja understanding the boy's anxiety and wanting to help him not be crushed under their heel.
  • Elective Mute: He has a hard time speaking in front of others, something Dokja acknowledges and lets him know he doesn't have to talk to him. To compensate, he chooses to communicate through text messages. The times he does choose to talk, he's notes to be very quiet.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: He has dark circles under his eyes. Whether that was from sitting in a dark room staring at a bright internet screen or from the stress he was put under during the king's scenario is unknown.
  • The Hermit: Hardly ever goes out of his room if he can help it and sticks to his own corner throughout the scenarios.
  • Insidious Rumor Mill: His ability. He's able to spread rumors across the internet and trick people into dangerous traps. Kim Dokja uses this to his advantage during the King's scenario to lure out the prophets.
  • Older Than They Look: In the webtoon, he looks around Gilyoung and Yoosung's age, but is actually the same age (17) as Lee Jihye and Kim Namwoon.
  • The Shut-In: Before the scenarios, he hardly went outside, and remains in his tent for a good portion of his early appearances. He does leave it when Gilyoung finds him and reunite with Dokja.

Attribute:
Inventory

Yoo Joonghyuk's younger sister who he looks after as her guardian, who has the ability to carry a wide variety of objects in her body.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Refers to Yoo Joonghyuk as, "oppa".
  • Big Eater: Talks about being hungry often, which is likely where her ability stemmed from.
  • Big Brother Worship: is very fond of Yoo Junghyeok, often bragging about his strength to other people and even fighting with the younger members of the party when they get clingy.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She tells Jung Huiwon that Dokja obviously couldn't be her brother because her actual brother is good-looking.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She wears her hair in this style in the webtoons.
  • Morality Pet: One of the reasons Yoo Joonghyuk goes mad during one of his regressions was due to his sister's death. Dokja practically forces Yoo Joonghyuk to join the King's scenario by claiming he hid Yoo Mia somewhere.
  • Parental Substitute: Yoo Junghyeok counts, since he seems to have raised her since she was young and their parents are never mentioned in the story.
  • Practically Different Generations: She is Yoo Joonghyuk's young sister, but you'd be forgiven for mistaking him as her father instead of a sibling.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She plays a small part in the King's Scenario, as Dokja hiding her away from Yoo Jonghyuk forces him to join in the battle of kings. Huiwon bringing her along and having Mia take the Changshin flagpole with her allowed Dokja to enter the final battle between kings and destroy the throne.
  • Stomach of Holding: Her skill: Inventory. She has the ability to carry objects even larger than herself inside her... which she demonstrates by pulling out the Changshin flagpole for Dokja during the King's scenario, by stretching out her mouth to an impossibly large degree. He's rightfully shocked and confused at this ability of hers.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: In the webtoons, she looks like Yoo Joonghyuk except with pigtails. Dokja notes how even their deadpan expressions were similar.

     Lee Sookyung
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ezgif_7_e5cde1ff58.jpg
“This is the end. There is no ‘next.’ However, just because it is the end doesn’t mean you’ve seen the whole story. Read it again.”

Incarnation Modifiers:
"King of Wanderers"
Constellation Sponsor:
Founder's Mother/ Ungnyeo

One of the new Kings who appear during the fifth scenario, whom Dokja seems to recognize. She leads the New Wave group of wanderers who all broke out of prison/
  • Amazon Brigade: Since she and the others came from an all-women's prison, she naturally gets this once the scenarios start and she's become one of the Kings.
  • Compromising Memoirs: During her stay in prison, she wrote a successful book titled, "Memoirs of an Underground Killer" about her life and subsequent murder of her husband. This was one of the reasons Dokja grew to despise her, as he was hounded by reporters for more information, and was an outcast at school for being a "murderer's son". Averted when Lee Sookyung admits she wrote the memoir so Dokja could still receive money for school, to hide the fact her son was the actual murderer and make her the undisputable killer in the public eye. All to protect her son, whether he likes it or not.
  • Cool Mask: Wears an impressive mask with a veil that covers her mouth.
  • Domestic Abuse: Suffered abuse at the hands of her husband, and it lead to her killing him in retaliation. But it's revealed that Dokja was the one who killed his father in order to protect his mother.
  • Mama Bear: Dokja retells Sangah the suffering he and his mother had experienced at the hand of his father. It came to a point she killed Dokja's father when it appears he was about to hit Dokja again in the webtoons. However, it's later revealed Dokja killed his father, and Lee Sookyung took the blame to be incarcerated instead of her son. Even during the scenarios, she tries to offer him some advice, despite their opposing viewpoints of each other.
  • Parents as People: As the story goes on it becomes clear that she really cares about Dokja but her way of going about it is questionable if well-meaning. Her decision to take the blame for the accidental murder of her husband kept her son out of juvie and his name relatively clear but not only did that leave him in the hands of abusive relatives, her decision to publish her book to divert any doubts and help fund his living expenses end with him ostracized and bullied, leaving him traumatized and their relationship in shambles.
  • Parental Neglect: Dokja certainly views her in this light, feeling like she was a cold person who he grew distant towards and eventually stopped visiting in prison. He doesn't even consider Lee Sookyung family anymore.

A member of the 10 Evils in Ways of Survival, Dokja and the others were able to free her from being possesed by the Parasite Queen Antinus, and as such she is able to join Yoo Junghyeok's group once more.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: She gains these eyes under the possession of the guide of the fourth scenario. It's only after Dokja expels the Parasite does her eyes go back to normal.
  • Grand Theft Me: In the fourth scenario she is possessed the Parasite. It takes Dokja and the others a lot of effort to get Lee Seolhwa back to normal.
  • Master Poisoner: Dokja notes in some regressions she becomes "The Poisoner", due to her being infected by the guide.

Kyrgios is the master and possibly sole member of the White Storm school, which practices the famous secret technique, White Pure Star Energy and possesses Electrification.
  • Berserk Button: He doesn't like insults in general, but he really doesn't like when people insult his height, going so far as to kill an entire evil cult during his returnee days just for being taller than him as well as castrating another person who made fun of his height.
  • Hidden Depths: An incredibly skilled martial arts practitioner, and also apparently a skilled viola player capable of bringing listeners to tears.
  • Hunk: One of the few characters said to be comparable to Yoo Junghyeok in appearance in Ways of Survival.
  • Shock and Awe: This seems to be the main ability to practitioners of his murim sect, with White Pure Star Energy appearing as energy strong enough to cut down foes and Electrification allowing disciples to channel incredibly powerful bolts of brilliant blue-white lightning.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: A member of the small people of Peaceland, but still strong enough to be considered as one of the strongest returnees in Ways of Survival and a transcendent incarnation in his own right.

  • Hate Plague: Their Thought Infection skill acts like this, manifesting as a white aura piercing targets and convincing victims of their desires, allowing Nirvana to induct them into his church.
  • Manipulative Bastard: One of the deadliest reincarnators around, and able to convince people to join his church through his words and his skills.
  • Meaningful Name: Nirvana Moebius seems to reference their spirituality and capability of reincarnation, with Nirvana referring to the belief in Buddhism of achieving peace and enlightenment throughout one's lifetimes, while Moebius could be a reference to the Mobius strip phenomenon found in mathematics.
  • Mind Prison: Many of their skills allow them to trap their opponents in their own traumas, with the most dangerous being their 108 Worries skill.
  • Slave Mooks: This is the outcome of being affected by their Thought Infection skill, with many members of the Salvation Church being victims.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Their general attitude towards Yoo Junghyeok in his regressions, desiring to become his companion through any means necessary.
