Medusa

The first character introduced in the comic.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f726eb17_ef1e_4c7e_86cf_ce0a05820f11.jpeg

  • Cognizant Limbs: Her medusianas (hair snakes) seem to have their own personalities, and two of them even fall in love with each other.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon: A fairly standard example, though she seems to be single.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: She may have no qualms petrifying a human being on the spot just because they're being an annoyance, but when she witnesses a dog that sacrifices itself to save its owner, she petrifies its corpse so that it can stay as a statue instead of decomposing away.
  • Karma Houdini: She petrified a kid and never got any sort of comeuppance.
  • Taken for Granite: Naturally, her gaze does this.

Jennifer Barclay

A werewolf, who spends the nights pretending to be her daughter's imaginary friend.

  • Big Friendly Dog: Wendy thinks so, anyway. She's still unaware that her mother is a werewolf. After the "Park Under the Full Moon" arc, the cat's out of the bag.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She acts up when she thinks Levia and her husband Leo are childhood sweethearts, though Played for Laughs.
  • Happily Married: To Leo Barclay, the lawyer who helped her after she was attacked.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifting: Flip-flops between this and the voluntary variety. She can trigger the transformation herself, but she needs a particular stimulus and to focus on something. Otherwise, she tends to inconveniently transform via the full moon, her dreams, or spotting a cat or sheep.

Leo Barclay

A lawyer that specializes in cases dealing with non-human incidents.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8061881b_cbb7_455d_bd74_89e30b6bddd4.jpeg

  • Awesomeness by Analysis: He can tell the difference between a vampire bite and insect bite just at first glance, and when he was young he also analyzed a random dragon drawing on the ground to successfully convince his teacher that a dragon schoolmate didn't do it.
  • For Great Justice: Sorta. He does claim he doesn't seek to honor justice as a lawyer, but instead, the truth. He still manages to get justice delivered after the fact though.
  • Happily Married: To Jennifer.
  • Hello, Attorney!: A very attractive lawyer.
  • Nice Guy: He's a pleasant guy who will try his best to regain justice for a wronged girl subjected to victim blaming, even putting his safety at risk.
  • Understanding Boyfriend: Justified since he usually deals with non-human incidents, he acknowledges Jennifer’s situation despite the threats she could pose.

Wendy Barclay

Jennifer's daughter — who may or may not grow up to be a werewolf.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/48b06a4d_98f8_49f9_a683_2813c981a686.jpeg

  • Children Are Innocent: Is completely unaware that her mom is the werewolf that visits her at night.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifting: In the The Park Under the Full Moon arc, courtesy of the werewolf genetics from her mother's side finally kicking in, and because it's her first time, she goes feral.

Carmilla

Wendy's vampire friend.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d24447d8_374f_4dd4_a61a_56646a11473f.jpeg

Carmilla's Father

Carmilla's father — also a vampire.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/87f49295_7454_42f5_90b6_b7ee8dd073b6.jpeg

  • Fur Against Fang: Has a somewhat antagonistic streak against werewolves, but has softened his stance towards Wendy's family after Leo defended Carmilla from an accusation of biting a fellow schoolmate. Usually Played for Laughs though.
  • Pointy Ears: Which his wife and daughter curiously lack even though they’re all vampires.

Shelly

Carmilla's Mother — also a vampire. She owns a hair salon.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aebff39b_2059_4fdb_b97e_3a458e062217.jpeg

  • Hime Cut: Not only is this her usual hairstyle, but it's the only one she'll give to her clients.

Aella

An Amazonian classmate of Carmilla and Wendy.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d6a47594_e303_4994_af08_161ccf55861c.jpeg

  • Cute Bruiser: She's strong enough to carry two people at once on her shoulders and rip the door off an old car.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: She's certainly tall and muscular for her age.

Maria

A robot who bought her freedom and married a cop.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d8bc2ad2_46b2_421d_8204_75199294e5f8.jpeg

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: She often brought lunch for a police officer who treated her nicely before, and then they developed affection.
  • Boob-Based Gag: Plenty of humor is made about her robotic bust, due to having multi-functions such as mimicking a massage chair.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": "Maria" is actually her model name. Whether Maria-series robots actually have individual names is unknown.
  • Ridiculously Human Robot: Designed as such.
  • Robot Girl: Apparently there's a market for selling intelligent robot girls, who then buy their freedom so their former owners purchase another one.
  • Robotic Spouse: Married to a cop who was nice to her shortly after she bought her freedom.
  • Slave Race: The Maria series is an...interesting example. Robots like Maria are purchased as girlfriends and cannot immediately up sticks and leave. However, they are explicitly permitted to buy their freedom, and, according to our Maria, about 90% of them do.
  • Superpowered Robot Meter Maid: For someone designed to be a girlfriend, Maria is strangely well-armed... That said, other Maria models have been shown not to share the same equipment.

Beth

A dragon voice actress, and Levia's mother.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7bc1bf58_d353_4d6e_a82e_7e4e8a4ef8b5.jpeg

  • Big Beautiful Woman: In addition to being more than 3 and a half meters tall, she's close to the pudgiest character in the comic, but she's frequently portrayed as cute, beautiful, and especially sexy, particularly to her husband Dino.
  • Giant Woman: She's somewhere in the neighborhood of twelve feet tall.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Well, she's the poster girl for Big Beautiful Woman in the comic. The few scenes in the comic that are intended to be raunchy focus on Beth.
  • Vocal Dissonance: She has a huge and imposing figure but normally voices cute magical girls, which caused Dino to think she was a dainty little girl before they met.

Dino

A dragon voice actor, and Levia's father.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6414f8c7_d1e4_4101_b727_21e24bcd8525.jpeg

Levia

A well-known judge that oversees criminal cases. She's actually rather goofy when she's not on the job. Has two dorky parents who work as voice actors.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2ece314d_9d05_4277_9b9d_87f067c520ed.jpeg

Ptera

A flying dragon and Levia's former childhood classmate.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bf18b254_ef05_4877_84e8_2df368345d74.jpeg

  • Accidental Misnaming: Levia always calls her "Daisy", despite her desperate clarifications.
  • A-Cup Angst: Hates to be reminded she's nearly flat, particularly compared to Levia.
  • Foil: To the composed and busty Levia, being a flat-chested, cheery, confident dragon girl who while physically active is not as quick-witted as Levia.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Her tight-fitting outfit leaves little to the imagination.
  • Hartman Hips: She might be lacking in the breasts department, but she makes up for it by having a nice plump rear.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's as tall as Levia and incredibly fit.

The Dragon Maid

A human-dragon hybrid girl. Proud of her heritage and owner of her own Maid Cafe.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3397809d_1234_40c7_8228_aa7db2a56041.jpeg

The Dragon Maid's Mom

A kind giant dragon.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cf0e9974_7ad4_42fc_b3dd_6e9e314704ff.jpeg

Nadia, the Dragon Maid's Ancestor

A dragon maid in Victorian Britain, and direct ancestor of the dragon maid.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/efa668a8_0f8a_49a6_ae4b_48b419a43f0e.jpeg

  • Breath Weapon: She can breathe fire to light up the fireplace and burn the dirty water on the street.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: While her expressions were always subdued about it, after her master began running into other dragon maids and exhibiting interest in them too, she started deliberately drawing attention to her body so that he re-focused on her, making it clear she recipocrated his attraction from the beginning.
  • Didn't Think This Through: the lady of the house on several occasions attempts to stifle the sparks between her son and the help, only to have it backfire royally- first with encountering Theiss Titillation Theory by requiring her to wear a Naked Apron instead of nothing , and then discovering tropes like Stocking Filler as she attempts to require more coverage.
  • Interspecies Romance: With her human young master, a man who was clearly attracted to her non-humanoid beauty.
  • Meido: A housemaid in the Victorian era, though she lacked the trademark maid uniform since she was not a human.
  • Naked Apron: Her default outfit is a maid apron and nothing else.
  • Shrinking Violet: Was reserved and easily pushed around by the lady of the house.
  • Uptown Girl: She got in a relationship with the young master of the household she served in.

Baffy

A sheep familiar summoned by the succubus sisters, and Barbara's son.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0a7fa0a2_b4f9_4442_baab_76577ecdd70c.jpeg

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Tries to act like this, fails miserably.
  • Fetish: He's attracted to curved horns.
  • G-Rated Drug: He uses his allowance to buy freshly-grated curved dragonhorn powder and snort them like drugs.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: He has to wear a disguise as he's often chased by girls that think he'll make them magical girls.

Barbara

A sheep familiar, and Baffy's mom.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e723940d_9f41_4e27_9afe_f2d29713bba1.jpeg
She's just talking about cassette tapes, fellows.
Click here  to see young Barbara

  • Fur Bikini: She's actually naked, but covered in fur, and her fur pattern makes it look like she's wearing a swimsuit.
  • Ms. Fanservice: As a grown-up, given she's pretty much naked, but still covered in fur.
  • The Talk: Baffy asks her about a specific hand signal that signifies sex, and she somehow manages to spin it around about how it's actually referring to the act of winding cassette tapes.

Cerberus

A shy girl, and Barbara's old classmate in Hellementary.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/50515ea5_fab2_477a_9d3d_8ba96069251a.jpeg

  • Cute Little Fangs: Befitting a cute girl version of the hellhound.
  • Grew a Spine: Thanks to Barbara's quick thinking by giving her hand-puppets and helping her wear them on her tail so that she still had a free hand.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Half of her face is covered by her bangs to represent her incredible shyness.
  • Magic Feather: Barbara gives her two dog head hand-puppets and tells her she now has three times the courage, which finally allows her to come out of her shell — the two hand-puppets end up developing different personalities.
  • Shrinking Violet: Her default state is being so shy she can barely interact with others.
  • Weight Woe: Despite being incredibly fit, she's afraid of gaining weight and will even check how much weight she lost upon her snake tail molting.

Zoey

A kindergarten teacher, and a succubus.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/26dd7828_0d00_4d80_9a7a_6201e04e912e.jpeg
Click here  to see her succubus form

  • Big Beautiful Woman: Usually downplayed since she's a kindergarten teacher, but her demon form has been shown to wear very skimpy leather outfits.
  • Succubi and Incubi: She's a succubus, but since she takes her job as a kindergarten teacher seriously, she appears more normal than you'd expect.
  • Unexpected Virgin: At least she's believed to be one, in spite of being a succubus.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: Turns out she's a fan of the genre, and she was hesitant to deal with the Good Angel, Bad Angel situation in a student’s mind just like how she did before because the way the male demon oppressed the (also male) angel looked quite suggestive.

Zoey's sister.

A high school teacher, and a succubus.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dd57d16_e227_44bc_b74f_f297398fe994.jpeg

  • Hot Teacher: She loves to tease her students, much to the chagrin of her sister.
  • Lazy Bum: Actually summoned Baffy so he could do her chores for her. It backfired since she now has to take care of Baffy which is a different set of chores she must now do.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Will wear skimpy outfits, or even t-shirts with inappropriate prints; furthermore, she is well aware of how she looks and will take advantage of that to tease others.
  • Succubi and Incubi: She certainly acts the part of a succubus and does not hide her horns.

Kuchisake

A Yōkai known for her big mouth.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a9979538_f189_4cf9_8c18_5df3c58a281b.jpeg

  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: She actually likes to dress around for the occasion, like wearing a Mickey Mouse-inspired attire for the Year of the Rat.
  • Glasgow Grin: Her defining trait.
  • Hot Teacher: It is revealed that she's a high school teacher at Nui's school.
  • Series Mascot: She seems to share this role with Levia, as she's one of the most recurring characters in the series and was on the cover of the first book.

The Nightmares

Night-hag spirits similar to the succubus. Three have appeared so far.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7cc61654_a167_4c61_8ee1_ab2d71c98952.jpeg
The American Nightmares

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/29171c8c_a806_4752_8876_365928a4e69e.jpeg
The Russian Nightmare

  • A-Cup Angst: The Busty American Nightmare once had a nightmare where she's completely flat. The second American Nightmare also points out that she cannot use the breast technique to cause nightmares as she's flat as well.
  • Gang Banger: The Russian Nightmare who is clearly a gopniki.
  • Space Cold War: The Busty Nightmare and the Russian Nightmare have a rivalry of sorts given one is American and one is Russian, to the point that the Russian Nightmare will sneak in and give the Busty Nightmare...well...nightmares.

Mimic

A Chest Monster who causes trouble everywhere she goes.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b59daa9a_5e60_434a_a9ae_0a2b3e77594f.jpeg

  • Chest Monster: Well, obviously. She first appears on a subway being mistaken for luggage.
  • Lovable Rogue: She and her kin specialize in various forms of grifting, which they explain as an evolution of their predatory ancestor's techniques.
  • Mundane Utility: one of the less sketchy money-making schemes common to mimics is selling mimic slime for industrial applications like machine grease
  • Sex Sells: many of their grifts involve exploiting the monster girl fandom in this manner
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: obviously a major part of their toolkit

Ms. Invisible

A well endowed invisible woman who finds herself having to strip naked for various reasons.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msinvisible.jpg

  • D-Cup Distress: Her ample bosom often attracts the gaze of everyone around her, much to her embarrassment. It's often enough that she'll go topless just so people can't see them.
  • Generation Xerox: While it's hard to tell exactly how similar they are (for obvious reasons) she seems to have at least inherited her large rack from her mother.
  • Naked People Are Funny: She often finds herself having to strip for one reason or another, most commonly because someone is staring are her breasts.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Has a fascination with B-Horror movies. She watched them as a kid and as an adult she gets a job working with the monster props in them.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: Teeters between this and Innocent Fanservice Girl. Most of the time she's aware of the attention she gets and is subsequently embarrassed by it. At other times she does things that come off as unintentionally erotic like draining rain water out of her top or holding an ice cream cone between her breasts while she checks her phone and doesn't seem to notice or care.
  • Vapor Wear: Page 226, showing her misadventures in the movie theater, has a panel in which it's plainly visible that she doesn't wear panties under her skirt.

Nui

A kijo high school student and in love with her teacher.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/29d25dfc_5d74_4e4b_bec7_83a0c9091b46.jpeg

  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Will make candy that includes her blood as an ingredient.
  • Rescue Romance: The reason why she fell in love with her teacher, as he rescued her after being thrown into a well as a young child.
  • Yandere: She's very possessive of her teacher and will try to curse people that try to get close to him.
  • Younger Than They Look: Despite being 16, she appears to be much younger.

Teacher

A kubinashi high school teacher.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dda54b70_8dd8_4988_a794_a6f4f2dcdb1e.jpeg

  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": His name is never revealed.
  • Headless Horseman: He's actually not, but even in-universe he's mistaken for a Dullahan.
  • Hot Teacher: He's rather attractive.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Oddly enough, he does share a weakness to gold with Dullahans, but it will only give him a rash at worst.
  • Losing Your Head: Being a kubinashi, his head is detachable, and it will sometimes fall off if he's not making the effort of keeping it attached.
  • Pulling Themselves Together: He can force his body to be pulled towards his head when separated if need be, an ability he once used in the process of rescuing Nui.

Coney Eileen

A shy rabbit girl that dreams of becoming an illustrator and new student at Vanguard Academy.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5ccc8f15_91ec_4ccf_ba94_8190ba4be6cc.jpeg

  • Bookworm: Well, her family owns a bookstore, so it was natural for her.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Her bangs partially cover one of her eyes to represent her shy nature.
  • The So-Called Coward: Upon seeing her town engulfed in flames, she decides she wants to pilot an MR, despite declining previously when she needed to replace Laika as the pilot of the Lunar Lander's Asva.

Laika Sputnik

A dog boy and leader of the Lunar Lander MR team at Vanguard Academy.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e9a90cbe_9296_4366_88ef_ea0abf642d5e.jpeg

  • Gender-Blender Name: Laika is definitively a female name.
  • Tempting Fate: Upon registering the Lunar Lander MR team for the Big Game tournament and claiming that winning will be a cinch, he breaks his arm when Coney accidentally bumps him down the stairs.

Kiki

A cat-like thing that is a good at repairing stuffs.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/59808e72_5380_45d7_9b37_9905afefdc82.jpeg

  • Gonk: Her face is unusual to say the least — to the point she actually has no mouth so she painted one on her face.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Her dialogue really goes places at times.
  • Mr. Fixit: She's the mechanic/engineer for the Lunar Lander team.
