Tetty Goodgripp/Fujino Toyama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tetty_goodgripp.png
A student of the magical girl class and the leader of group one. She is a responsible girl and takes the class and magical girl activities seriously as she wishes to become a full time magical girl. She was recommended by the Information Bureau.

She survives both Black and White.

Her ability is to grab anything with her magic mittens. With her mittens she can grab anything and either carry it or break it.

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: She gets bewitched by the shadow version of Pukin when the training exercise in Black unexpectedly goes off the rails.
  • Class Representative: In addition to being Group 1's leader, she's also the class rep. Due to this, she believes she has the duty to be an excellent magical girl and nurture an environment where everyone can get along.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her father left due to cheating with another woman when she was in elementary school. Her mother took care of Tetty by herself until middle school, but she fell ill and died, leaving Tetty all alone.
  • Tricked-Out Gloves: Her mittens allow her to hold anything. She can also rip apart or smash objects with them.

    Miss Ril

Miss Ril/Satoko Kanegafuchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miss_ril.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group one. She is a social girl that enjoys chatting with others. She was recommended by the Management Division.

Her ability is to change her body into different metals. When she holds a metallic material she takes on its properties.

  • Chrome Champion: Her ability lets her take on the properties of any metallic material. Not only does this give her increased durability, depending on the metal she can also gain other abilities such as flashing brightly when using Princess Lightning’s dagger.

    Rappy Taype

Rappy Taype/Rumi Itadakita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rappy_taype.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group one. She is a loud girl and easily excited. She was recommended by the Magical Girl Resources Department.

Her ability is to preserve anything with her magical wrap. She creates wraps that can protect objects or be used for other purposes, like to make a slingshot.

  • No Indoor Voice: She doesn’t keep her voice down even when casually talking to her group in class.

    Drill Dory

Drill Dory

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drill_dory.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group one. She appears to have the same origin as Armor Arlie. She is young and a bit of a troublemaker, but is still nice in general. She was recommended by the Experimental Sites.

Her ability is to dig through anything and everything with her magic drill. Once her drill starts spinning, it won’t stop until its target is destroyed.

  • This Is a Drill: Her magic drill can drill through any object and will keep spinning until it tears through its target.

Group 2

    Mephis Pheles

Mephis Pheles/Fuuko Sayama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mepis_pheles.png
A student of the magical girl class and the leader of group two. She is an unpleasant person, getting into fights at the slightest of provocations. She was recommended by the Legal Affairs Bureau and is a member of the Caspar Guards.

Her ability is to corrupt anyone with her sweet words. When she whispers her objective to her target she can tempt them to do her bidding.

  • The Corrupter: Her ability lets her charm others into doing what she wants with just her words.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's an incredibly unpleasant girl. Despite her unassuming appearance, practically every word out of her mouth is a swear and she seems to be perpetually pissed off at most people around her. That said, she shows a considerably warmer (but not softer) side when she has to let Kana stay with her, and starts teaching Kana about how to read and enjoy manga.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: A gender-inverted example; she has an incredibly large potty mouth that she uses to insult anyone, usually without any prompt.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She became a magical girl alongside her old friend Tetty in elementary school. To say they've stopped being friends since then would be a major understatement, though the frustrations all seem to come from Mephis.

    Kana

Kana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kana.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group two. She was a prisoner before being released for rehabilitation. Despite her amnesia and unknown background she attempts to be a good student. She was recommended by the Caspar Faction.

She is later revealed to be an amnesiac Ratsumukana.

Her ability is to know the answer to any question she asks. When she asks someone a question, that person's honest answer appears in her head.

  • Identity Amnesia: At the start of Black, she wakes up in prison with no idea who she is or why she's in there. Pythie tells her that her memories were deleted during her imprisonment, suggesting that it wouldn't be in Kana’s best interest to find out.
  • Just Got Out of Jail: Pythie frees her from prison at the beginning of Black so that she can be transferred to the magical girl class. The other students treat it as an interesting curiosity and aren't bothered by it once they get to know her. Calkoro and Halna, however, treat her with caution/disdain respectively.
  • Living Lie Detector: She can get someone's honest answer in her head by she asking a question she wants the truth to. However, it only gives her what the target believes to be true, so the answer may not always be correct.
  • New Transfer Student: After being released from prison, she's transferred to the magical girl class. Since she's sponsored by Pythie via the Caspar faction, the faculty are distrustful of her. The other students are accommodating even after learning she came from prison. Despite her circumstances, Kana tries to fit into the class like a normal student.

    Kumi-Kumi

Kumi-Kumi/Kumiko Tateno

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kumi_kumi.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group two. She is an overthinker and tries to mediate her chaotic group. She is a member of the Caspar Guards.

Her ability is to destroy objects and reassemble them. Her pickaxe can destroy any non-living thing, disassembling them into small cubes. She can later reassemble them into a different object.

  • Powerful Pick: Not only does her magical pickaxe let her disassemble any non-living object into tiny cubes, she can also use it to reassemble said object into a new tool or armor depending on her needs.

    Classical Lillian

Classical Lillian/Chikage Miki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/classical_lillian.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group two. She prefers to avoid conflict and rarely speaks, though she is more energetic when transformed. She is a member of the Caspar Guards.

Her ability is to knit whatever she pleases with her magic knitting machine. Combining her threads allow her to create various different objects, such as a net or a shield.

  • Razor Floss: The threads she uses can be sharp enough to slice through powerful homunculi.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: She is a fan of boy-on-boy romance and gave a vivid retrospective of one of them in a book report.

    Thunder-General Adelheid

Thunder-General Adelheid/Adelheid Muller

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thunder_general_adelheid.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group two. As a graduate of the Archfiend Cram School she is proud of her strength, though she prefers to avoid unnecessary fights. She was recommended by the Department of Diplomacy.

Her ability is to reuse absorbed energy. She can take in energy directed at her and send it back out at her target with the help of her saber.

  • Energy Absorption: She absorbs energy directed at her and redirects it through her body or by using her saber. This makes her incredibly tough to take down, though she can’t absorb attacks forever.

Group 3

    Princess Lightning

Princess Lightning/Ai Tanaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/princess_lightning.png
A student of the magical girl class and the leader of group three. She is a man-made magical girl in the same vein as the Pure Elements. She is a crafty and mischievous girl that likes to instigate conflict in the class. She was recommended by the R&D Department.

She is the sixth and final death of White, with Adelheid stabbing her in the abdomen with her sword during their fight.

Her ability is to fight enemies with the power of lightning. She wields a sword supplemented by her electrical abilities.

  • Shock and Awe: Her magic is the ability to manipulate lightning. She uses it as her primary means of attack, both up close and from afar.
  • Smug Snake: She has a calm, collected, and rather smug air about her by default.

    Pshuke Prains

Pshuke Prains/China Mizuta

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pshuke_prains.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group three. She is a professional magical girl who is concerned about her job security. She was recommended by the Puk faction.

Her ability is to fight using her magic water gun. She can spray any sort of liquid from her water gun, including but not limited to fog, adhesive, acid, or pepper spray.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: As a kid she had a habit of saying terrible things about people with her friends. While she did this in private, she did it so much and her words were so awful that soon everyone knew how horrible she was and they stopped hanging with her.
  • Gossipy Hens: When she was younger, she used to love badmouthing people behind their backs with her friends. Unfortunately for her, she did it so much that word spread of how nasty she was and soon no one wanted to associate with her.
  • Water Guns and Balloons: Her weapon might be a water gun, but that doesn’t make it weak, as it can shoot any sort of liquid Pshuke can think of.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Is her name spelled "Psyche Plains" or "Pshuke Prains"?

    Diko Narakunoin

Diko Narakunoin/Hiromi Gotou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/diko_narakunoin.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group three. She is an apprentice to the first Lapis Lazuline and takes her training seriously despite not being chosen to be Lazuline’s sucessor. She was recommended by the first Lapis Lazuline through noble Caspar proxy.

Her ability is to momentarily disappear. She disappears out of existence briefly in order to evade others when her magical medallion opens its eyelid.

  • Power of the Void: Whenever she disappears, Diko flat out does not exist in reality at that time. It may only last for a moment, but it’s useful for evading attacks.

    Ranyi

Ranyi/Saho Suzuhi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranyi.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group three. She is an apprentice to the first Lapis Lazuline and wishes to become the next Lazuline even though others think she’s not fit for it. She was recommended by the first Lapis Lazuline through trading favors with higher-ups.

She is the second causality of White, being shot with arrows by an unknown assailant.

Her ability is to connect one door to another.

  • Always Someone Better: She knows she's stuck in the shadow of the other Lapis Lazulines and won't stop until she proves herself.
  • The Determinator: Bluebell Candy being named the third Lapis Lazuline instead of her didn't deter Ranyi from reaching her goal. She's since decided if she can't be Lapis Lazuline III, she'll be Lapis Lazuline IV.
  • Portal Door: Her ability lets her connect an entrance with an exit elsewhere and then move through it. What counts as a door is flexible, as it can even be a couple of trees leaning against each other.

    Sally Raven

Sally Raven/Sally Torihara

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sally_raven.png
A student of the magical girl class and a member of group three. She is a fan of the Cutie Healer series and hopes to become a Cutie someday. While she is friendly to everyone, she remains observant of their actions. She was recommended by the Public Relations Department.

Her ability is to create crow familiars. Her crows can help her move around or attack foes.

  • Summon Magic: She can create crow familiars to help fly her around or assist in combat. The crows are powerful enough to slice through homunculi that match the strength of magical girls.

Staff

    Calkoro

Calkoro/Calkoro Culumff

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/calkoro.png
The teacher of the magical girl class. In addition to being a magical girl she is also a mage, which doesn’t gain her respect from either side. She struggles to keep the class in order while keeping out of trouble from her boss.

Her ability is to calculate and fight using her magic abacus. Besides counting with the abacus, she can also wield it as a weapon or even ride it.

  • Badass Teacher: She may not be particularly imposing when teaching class, but when her students are in danger she doesn’t hesitate to charge into battle and weave through an army of homunculi to protect them.
  • Cool Board: She uses her abacus as an improvised skateboard when she needs to move fast.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Her magical abacus can be used for combat in addition to its normal usage of counting.
  • Nervous Wreck: She's timid and cautious normally, but when around someone that intimidates her- such as Kana or her boss Halna- she constantly fidgets, breaks out into a sweat, and struggles to keep herself from openly freaking out.
  • No-Respect Guy: Due to being a magical girl who is also a mage, she's looked down upon by both sides.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: An understandable and heroic version. When she realizes a homunculus version of Grim Heart is guarding the observation deck, Calkoro immediately turns around back towards the horde of other fake magical girls. She tells Pshuke they'd stand more of a chance against everyone else than having to face Grim Heart.
