Lacey Games Characters

The Main Three

    Lacey
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143345.jpg
"Lacey is a fun loving girl who loves a good adventure! She can be a bit of an airhead sometimes, but she's very determined and had lots of friends! She really likes fashion and to listen to all her favourite songs in her MP3 player!"
The protagonist of the Lacey Games series.
  • Addressing the Player: In Lacey's Wardrobe, she pleads with the player to not click the "ready" button and send her out with her stalker, who will kill her.
  • Animesque: She's drawn in a manner resembling the kind of manga-style designs a teen might doodle.
  • Art Shift: In Lacey's Diner, the first two days play out in the typical Animesque doodle art-style. The third day in the bad ending route abruptly switches to a disturbing photo-realistic look where everything is dark and distorted to signify the Sanity Slippage Lacey is going through.
  • Author Avatar: It's heavily implied that Lacey is actually a stand-in for Rocío Yani, one of the co-founders of Lacey's Games, as she looks nearly identical to Lacey.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The fashion-loving Beauty to intelligent Maisie's Brains and tomboyish Jay's Brawn.
  • Cigarette of Anxiety: She smokes a cigarette after her restaurant is closed down in Lacey's Diner.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: She ends up getting butchered into pieces and eaten alive by the stalker in Wardrobe, screaming and crying in agony the whole time.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: On the third day in the bad ending route of Lacey's Diner, Lacey gets back at her customers for their impatience by putting ingredients such as broken glass, cockroaches, cigarette butts, meth, and human flesh in the food she gives them.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After years of both physical and sexual abuse from her monstrous uncle, Lacey ended up having enough when he killed her dog Puddles and killed her uncle in turn. One split-second wall of text from Lacey's Petshop sums it all up.
i collected all those bruises for years. my spine hurt as if a needle went through each segment. once i got used to it i didn't think about it anymore. but you made me think about it forever when you made that mistake. you made a mistake. you took my angel away. you took my angel away. you took my angel away.
  • Driven to Suicide: She kills herself in Lacey's Diner after her restaurant gets closed down.
  • Eaten Alive: Receives this at the hands of the stalker at the end of Lacey's Wardrobe.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Her signature hairstyle.
  • Kill the Cutie: Lacey's Wardrobe and Lacey's Diner end with Lacey getting killed or killing herself respectively.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Revealed to be one in Lacey's Petshop as she returns a skeletal cat's skin, and we see her thoughts of wanting a cat.
I was thinking of getting a cat this time.
Yes, a small, fluffy kitten. I really, really want a cat.
  • Mummies at the Dinner Table: She tries to apply makeup to Jay's corpse in The Disturbing Rabbithole of Laceygames.com.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: So far, Lacey has been a pet shop owner, a cook, a waitress (at the same diner), a makeup artist, and (according to one image in Petshop) a musician.
  • Lethal Chef: Played for Horror in the bad ending route, where Lacey, in her Sanity Slippage and anger towards her customers, serves "food" made of cigarette butts, dead roaches, porn magazines, meth, used condoms, broken glass, and human flesh.
  • Nightmare Face: Twice!
    • Her face becomes photo-realistic and frequently splits in half during the bad ending of Lacey's Diner.
    • Her reflection turns into a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl with one of these in Lacey's Petshop.
  • The Ophelia: Yes she is. Initially appearing as a pretty 2000s flash game mascot, she goes completely insane in Lacey's Diner. In Lacey's Petshop we get more insight on why she's like this, and get to hear her disturbing inner monologues. She's also shown to be an Unkempt Beauty in The Disturbing Rabbithole of Laceygames.com, which portrays her at her craziest, completely denying that Jay is dead and slathering makeup over her corpse.
  • Rape as Backstory: It's heavily implied that Lacey's uncle molested her, causing many of her underlying psychological issues.
  • Revenge Is a Dish Best Served: Played for Horror. After Lacey snaps in the bad ending of Lacey's Diner, she makes the day's special... something containing things like broken glass, cigarettes, and cockroaches and feeds it to the customers. It's unclear if they survive this.
  • Self-Immolation: Lights herself on fire in Lacey's Petshop to escape the nightmare she's having.
  • Stock Shoujo Heroine: According to her official In-Universe bio. However, in the actual videos, she's really not.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: Heavily implied to have killed her abusive uncle who molested her and killed her dog.
  • Talkative Loon: Considering that all the Word-Salad Horror in the videos is from her perspective, yes she is.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Lacey dies in the first two videos under different circumstances, and nothing that happened in one video has come up in another. She survives in Lacey's Petshop due to the events of the episode being a nightmare Lacey was having, and in the Disturbing Rabbithole of Laceygames.com where it is instead her friend Jay that meets a horrible fate.
  • Unkempt Beauty: In ''The Disturbing Rabbithole of Laceygames.com", we get to see how she looks without her makeup and stylish clothing. She's still as cute as ever, which makes her behavior at the morgue all the more horrifying.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: If the Neocities website is to be believed, she sure doesn't.
is this what redemption feels like?

what is the purpose of a girl destined to die
over, and over, and over, and over, and over,
and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again?
do you know what it feels like to be cursed with
the ironic immortality of a digital body?

it does not matter how many times she bleeds
it does not matter how many times she suffers
she will always be back the next time you open yo ur g a me

    Maisie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143411.jpg
"Star girl Maisie is smart and knows all about astrology AND astronomy! She loves reading a good book and to teach her friends cool space facts, as well as their horoscope!"
One of Lacey's friends, a bookworm who enjoys space and horoscopes.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The intelligent Brains to Lacey's fashion-loving Beauty and tomboyish Jay's Brawn.
  • Black and Nerdy: Her skin tone is noticeably darker than Jay and Lacey's, and she's the most bookish of the group.
  • Cosmic Motifs: Stars: she's referred to as a "star girl" and wears star hairclips.
  • Cute Bookworm: In her bio, she's stated to love reading.
  • First Day of School Episode: While the gameplay isn't shown, "Maisie's first day of school", seen in The disturbing rabbithole of Laceygames.com, is probably about Maisie going to her first day of school.
  • Sweet Baker: She's very nice, and "Lacey and Maisie Bake!" on Laceygames.com reveals that she's a baker.

    Jay
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143439.jpg
"Skate girl Jay is always down to go out with friends. She is cool and is always with some type of wheels! She also loves rock music, and everyone calls her a tomboy. She likes that!"

One of Lacey's friends, a tomboy with a love for skateboarding and rock music.

  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The tomboyish Brawn to Lacey's fashion-loving Beauty and intelligent Maisie's Brains.
  • Cool Board: Frequently seen with a skateboard and has a game about her skateboarding
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Was Impaled with Extreme Prejudice by a spike while she was skateboarding, and her corpse that ends up in the morgue shows the grisly aftermath of her death.
  • Hates Wearing Dresses: Appears to dislike makeup, based on a line stating she'd have to be caught dead if wearing it.
  • Killed Off for Real: In-Universe, she was killed off in 2009 as Rocio's revenge on parents who thought she was a bad role model.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has a split-second look of horror on her face before she lands on a spike that impales her.
  • Tomboy: She dislikes dresses and makeup, and is more masculine than Lacey and Maisie. She's even referred to as a tomboy in her description.
  • Vasquez Always Dies: Invoked Trope. Parents were complaining about her tomboyish style, worrying that she wouldn't be a good role model for little girls. This caused Rocio to kill her off permanently in her skating game.

Antagonists

    The Stalker
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143549.jpg
"I love you, Lacey"
An unnamed stalker that follows Lacey in Lacey's Wardrobe.
  • Ax-Crazy: He "loves" Lacey so much that he wants to butcher and eat her alive so he'll be together forever with her. It's also implied that she's not his first victim either, judging from the "gift" of human organs he sent her.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Lacey's Wardrobe ends with him killing and eating Lacey.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Doesn't appear in any later videos in the series, and his role as the antagonist is instead taken over by Lacey's abusive uncle.
  • Fat Bastard: He's rather obese from what we see of his face, and he's also a stalker who eats Lacey alive.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Mentions at the end of Lacey's Wardrobe that he ate Lacey's remains "so that they could be together forever".
  • Karma Houdini: The video for Lacey's Wardrobe ends with him accomplishing his goal of killing and eating Lacey, with the implication that he will get away with his crimes.
  • No Name Given: His real name is never revealed.
  • The Peeping Tom: After his call on the second dress-up segment, he can be seen watching Lacey get dressed from her bedroom window.
  • Stalker with a Crush: He calls Lacey twice to make creepy remarks towards her on the phone, leaves a gift of what is implied to be human flesh, and kills and eats her.

    Lacey's Uncle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143645.jpg
"Uncle, have you seen Puddles anywhere? I can't find her... I checked everywhere... everywhere... stop... laughing"
Lacey
Lacey's uncle, who is implied to have molested her as a child.
  • Asshole Victim: He's heavily implied to have molested Lacey and killed her dog Puddles. She ends up killing him and serving his remains to her customers in Lacey's Diner.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: An abusive monster of a man that killed Lacey's dog. If him laughing afterwards is any indication, then he most likely did it to hurt Lacey.
  • Creepy Uncle: It's implied he molested Lacey when she was a child, leading to her many problems in the present day.
  • Posthumous Character: He was killed by Lacey a long time ago and is already dead in both of his appearances, but he inflicted severe psychological trauma on Lacey through his abuse and is thus the cause of her many issues in the series.

Real World

    Yaniaso Games
"As videogame lovers, we wanted to create a safe space for kids to play all of our games with the beloved Lacey and her friends!"
The game studio that created Lacey Games. Was active from around 2004 to 2010.
  • Meaningful Name: Yaniaso is a portmanteau of "Yani" and "Asop", the founders' last names.

    Rocío Yani
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143901.jpg
"Hello, child. Do you like playing on your computer? I made lots of games for you, but with none of those lies. These are the real girls' games.
Rocío to the player, Lacey's Petshop

One of the co-founders of Yaniaso Games. She has a lot of mental issues, and is the one responsible for the disturbing content found in the games.

  • Child Hater: If putting horrifying content in games aimed at little girls wasn't clear enough to make her this, she is shown to be very cruel to children on the website.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Well, kids game developer, but she puts disturbing content in games made for children and bullies children on the website.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Her response to Moral Guardians complaining about Jay? Kill her off in a very gruesome way. On a website for children.
  • Goths Have It Hard: Wears quite a lot of black and dark eyeliner, and is a complete psychological mess.
  • Kick the Dog: One of the first things we see about the Lacey's Games website is a drawing done by a 9-year-old girl named Jenny being shown on the front page, being relentlessly mocked by someone who owns the site (implied to be Rocío), claiming it's trash and that Lacey hates it. It's so pointlessly cruel that it reflects why the Lacey series is so depressing.
honestly you should just give up. this is utter fucking trash. did you really have the courage to send this over?
you thought lacey would like it? well she doesn't. in fact, she hates it. it's only displayed here so other kids can laugh at your terrible work.
    never draw again.
  • Messy Hair: Wears a messy bob.
  • The Ophelia: According to Grace, she was 'a little cuckoo'.
  • Uncertain Doom: A frame at the very end of Lacey's Diner that reads "i'm in heaven" implies that she may be dead. This is lampshaded by Grace, who mentions she doesn't even know if she's alive anymore.

    Grace Asop
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_28_143851.jpg
"All of the stuff the parents kept complaining about, that... that wasn't me. Something about fake games, hidden scares, and... some other stuff... I didn't know about anything; I was always just confused."
Grace to Charlie, Lacey's Petshop
One of the co-founders of Yaniaso Games, who doesn't care about Rocío and would rather stay unaffiliated with the company.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Although she seems outwardly nicer and well-intentioned than her coworker, she made no efforts to connect with Rocío when she acted out and brushes her off as being crazy. She didn't even want to reach out to her after she went silent.
  • No Sympathy: Cares very little about Rocio and repeatedly calls her crazy despite the woman's obvious problems.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She mentions she parted ways with Rocío in 2010.

    Charlie, a.k.a. charchar887
"Hey guys! Today I wanted to show a very weird secret ending I found in one of those old Lacey flash games O_O;; I found it in an flash archive site and felt nostalgic because I played sooo many Lacey games in my childhood but I ended up coming across an ending I had never seen and... well... You'll see. Let's start."
Charlie at the beginning of Lacey's Diner
Introduced in Lacey's Diner, Charlie is a YouTuber who makes videos covering the Lacey Games series.
  • Ambiguous Gender: They have a unisex name, an androgynous voice, and are never referred to with any pronouns.
  • Blatant Lies: After falsely stating in Lacey's Petshop that they're interviewing Grace for their thesis, they lie to Grace again in The disturbing rabbithole of Laceygames.com and claim that the interview is for their cousin's thesis this time. Grace completely falls for this.
Grace: But you said that this time, this is for your... cousin's thesis, right?
    Charlie: ...yup.
    Grace: Welp, I trust you!
  • Shout-Out: They wear several different band T-shirts The disturbing rabbithole of LaceyGames.com, such as Nirvana and Deftones.
  • Unseen No More: After not seeing or hearing them for Lacey's Diner and Lacey's Petshop, they finally appear in The disturbing rabbithole of Laceygames.com and speak to Grace about the games.
  • You No Take Candle: English doesn't seem to be their native language, as they have a Brazilian accent and occasionally use incorrect grammar.
(After dying twice in Jay's Skating Game): Dammit, why this is so hard?
