The five assembled… Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger!

Made up of one human and four Kikanoids from Kikaitopia, the Zenkaigers formed to fight the Tozitend and restore the multiverse. A little while after their founding, the Goldtsuikers from Kaizokutopia crash on Earth to fight the Tozitend for their own goals, boasting their own ranger in the form of Twokaizer.

    General Tropes

Equipment Voiced by: Lenne Hardt

  • Beware the Silly Ones: They’re in the running for the most ridiculous team the franchise has had to date, and yet, they prove to be a force to be reckoned with to whatever foe comes their way.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Subverted. Their transformations into ZenkaiOh forms happen in real time, which give them about a dozen or so seconds to have brief conversations about what’s been happening in the episode or random pablum. However, because of this, there’s nothing stopping a Wald from attacking them as they combine, which understandably puts the kibosh on whatever talks they were having.
  • Combat Pragmatist: While usually outnumbered, they don’t hesitate to use numerical advantages themselves when they manage to get a Wald away from its minions, sometimes going so far as to restrain their limbs so that another member of the team can get a free blow in.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character:
    • Unlike the Kiramagers who are a traditional Sentai team (aside from the female Kiramai Green), the Zenkaigers break Sentai tradition with the team consisting of a Token Human leader and the rest of the core rangers being mechanical lifeforms who have the ability to transform into mecha. While the Kiramagers had Kiramai Red as the leader, the Zenkaigers have the white Zenkaizer as the face of the team.
    • Just like the Zyuohgers, the previous anniversary team, the Zenkaigers also consist of a Token Human leader with the rest of the core Rangers being non-human. While the core Zyuohgers are Zyumen who have access to human forms, the core Zenkaigers are robots who are able to transform into mecha.
    • Unlike the Gokaigers, the Zenkaigers do not transform into past Rangers to use their powers. Instead, using the Sentai Gears gives them something, like a weapon or an attack, related to what the team in question does, almost akin to a majority of the Greater Powers. While the Gokaigers started off as Anti-Heroes who fought for their personal motives, the Zenkaigers - like many Sentai teams - are heroic Rangers who fight for the greater good.
  • Humanity Ensues: During the Introducing Zenkai Red! spin-off, the Kikanoid Zenkaigers suddenly become human when Zenkai Red comes around. It’s revealed during the second part that it was actually Normal Warumono Wald’s doing, turning them into humans to make them become a more “normal” Sentai. Luckily they get rendered back to their normal robotic forms by the end of the spinoff.
  • Irony: Despite trying to be the World's first in everything, they're the second Reiwa Sentai team.
  • Numerological Motif: They each have a number on their helmets based on the Sentai team they’re on, (ex: Juran’s is 16).
  • Power Copying: The Sentai Gears, created by Isao and Mitsuko based off the data of Super Sentai teams they discovered across the different parallel worlds, allow the Zenkaigers to copy a previous Sentai team’s abilities or reproduce their weapons for use.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The team consists of a downplayed Idiot Hero who wants to be “Number One” at anything, a party-loving Grumpy Old Man who thinks he’s a Cool Old Guy, an Animal Lover who’s an extreme Boomerang Bigot, a fortune-telling geek who’s got a brazen side, and a Constantly Curious nerd who was the Tozitend’s janitor. Not to mention, four of them are robots from a world inhabited solely by robots while their leader is a Token Human. And that’s not even getting to the group of Anti-Heroic “world-traveling pirates” that join them later on.
  • Super Robot: The Kikainoid Zenkaigers all have the ability to turn into mecha, in both normal and giant size.

Core Members

    Kaito Goshikida/Zenkaizer

Portrayed by: Kiita Komagine (live), Masashi Takada (suit)
Young Kaito Portrayed by: Yumeki Uenoyama (main), Koh Enomoto (episode 40)

The kindhearted leader of the Zenkaigers who aims to be “Number One” at everything. His parents invented the Zenkaiger tech before they went missing. He currently lives with his grandmother Yatsude and toy bird Setchan.

Tropes that apply to him in general

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaito_goshikida.jpg
The Secret Power! Zenkaizer!
  • All Your Powers Combined: The Color Motif used to represent him in various areas and effects is a rainbow, suggesting that he alternatively represents All Colors.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name: He addresses his grandmother as “Yatchan” (a diminutive of her first name) instead of the usual “obaasan/obaachan” (grandmother/granny).
  • Catchphrase:
    • “Zenryoku Zenkai!”note
    • He also utters “Sekai Zenkai! All Okay!”note  after the Kudaitest of the Week is destroyed.
    • He seems fond of words with “kai” in them, particularly using “Ryōkai!”note  when acknowledging an order.
    • He frequently refers to things as “x zenkai,” or “full-throttle x.”
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist:
    • Both Jūru Atsuta and Kaito are both energetic Nice Guys to a fault and The Leaders of their respective teams. While Jūru was the last one of his team to fully join, Kaito is the founder of his team. Jūru was a Socially Awkward Hero who regularly self-depreciates his abilities before truly growing as a leader while Kaito is fully confident in himself from the very start, to the point of being reckless.
    • Both Yamato Kazakiri and Kaito are the Token Humans among the other non-human Rangers (Zyumans and Kikainoids, respectively), as well as their teams’ leaders. Unlike Yamato, who was level-headed and calm, Kaito is reckless and energetic.
    • Both Captain Marvelous and Kaito inherited their Transformation Trinkets, Team Pet, and Sentai arsenal from people close to them that are gone from their lives in present day (AkaRed for Marvelous and his parents for Kaito). However, Marvelous was already a seasoned Gokaiger with his own fully assembled crew before the series even began and came to Earth looking for the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, while Kaito is just a regular human and only became Zenkaizer at the beginning of his story while having to gather members for his team to stop the invasion on his world. Also, while both have a reckless and hot-blooded streak to their actions, Marvelous was a standoffish and obstinate Jerk with a Heart of Gold, while Kaito is an incredibly friendly and openhearted Keet.
    • But most importantly of all, Kaito is this to about 98 percent of the protagonists in all previous Super Sentai teams because while most of the previous protagonists are all Red Rangers, Zenkaizer is classified as a White Ranger for while his costume does have a big red stripe down the middle, and while the inside of his mantle is red, it’s still primarily white. To be fair though, Zenkaizer technically isn’t the first white ranger to actually be a team leader. This also makes Kaito a Foil to those specific predecessors:
      • Both Tsuruhime and Kaito have disappeared parents (her father for the former and his mom and dad for the latter) that they are looking for throughout the series and both have had their teammates join them to make a Sentai team. However, whereas the levelheaded Tsuruhime, who comes from a Blue Blood family, constantly had to reign in her teammates’ antics to get them all to focus on their mission more seriously, the excitable Kaito, who comes from an more average background and lives with his grandmother, is constantly indulging in his friends’ various quirks and behaviors because it makes him glad to see him enjoy his world so much.
      • Sōkichi Banba was The Dandy who joined and took over leadership of JAKQ in the middle of his series, while Kaito, who is a Keet through and through, is the leader of the Zenkaigers from the very first episode. Sōkichi was very much The Strategist of his team, using plans to foil the schemes of his enemies, while Kaito is a true to form Idiot Hero who more or less is making it up as he goes along with help from his team.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Literally socks the Creator of Worlds in the jaw in the final episode.
  • Establishing Character Moment: First appears attempting to bungee-jump off the Skytree with unauthorized equipment. And when his world suddenly gets populated with Kikainoids, he doesn't hesitate to befriend them. This shows that he's willing to jump into the unknown and try new things.
  • Idiot Hero: Downplayed. While he’s not too bright at times (as seen with the first episode where he tried to be the first to bungee-jump off the Skytree, and him not knowing what an ice age is in Episode 3), he’s enthusiastic, but surprisingly insightful on emotional matters. He's also shown to be a quick thinker in a stressful moments, coming up with surprisingly successful plans on the fly despite having no idea what the outcome will be.
  • Kiai: He often yells out “Choāh!” when fighting.
  • The Leader: Of the Zenkaigers, and also the third white ranger with this distinction since Sōkichi Banba/Big One and Tsuruhime/Ninja White.
  • Manchild: He’s a Cloudcuckoolander Keet whose mannerisms are sometimes more akin to an elementary schooler than a 20-year-old. Later episodes tone down this trait, but still keep him highly enthusiastic when appropriate.
  • Meaningful Name: While the Goshikida family name contains the kanji for "five colors", Kaito's is a special case, taking the kanjis "da/田" and "kai/介" and combining them forms an alternate "kai/界", which means "world", giving his full name an alternate meaning of "Five-Colour World Person/五色界人". The opening also lampshades that his "kai" looks like an upside-down Zenkaiger emblem.
  • Nice Guy: He’s incredibly friendly and genuine, wanting to get along with anybody and everybody around him, no matter if they’re a mechanical lifeform or fellow human.
  • Odd Name Out: Within the team.
    • Being the Token Human, he is the only one of the team who has a fairly normal Japanese name, as the rest of his teammates are all Kikanoids.
    • This, and the fact that he’s The Leader, also results in his hero name being unique and not following the Zenkai (civilian name) format the rest of his teammates use.
  • Primary-Color Champion: Besides his colors as Zenkaizer, Kaito's civilian clothes are mainly white, red, blue and yellow.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Yatsude looks after him due to the disappearance of his parents.
  • Standardized Leader: He's your standard leader. Friendly, optimistic to a fault and with little depth to his personality.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: He tends to hesitate fighting against Stacy after seeing his interactions with Yatsude, doubting if he’s really as malicious as he seems.
  • Terrible Artist: To the point where his drawing of a jack-o-lantern is mistaken for a bunch of grapes with a face on it.
  • To Be a Master: His personal motto is to “be the world’s first,” whether it being at the top of whatever he sets his mind to or even being the first to do something no other has done before, though the latter oftentimes are improbable goals for good reason (such as trying to be the first to bungee jump off the Tōkyō Skytree, with his own unlicensed equipment to boot).
  • Token Human: He’s the sole human of the main five.
  • Too Dumb to Fool: A variant; while all of his allies became wary of Stacy acting much nicer and cooperative than usual due to being possessed by the Creator of Worlds, he's among the first to notice the sudden change in behavior.

Tropes exclusive to him as Zenkaizer

Babam, Babam, Babam, Babam, Babababang! Zēnkaizer!
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenkai_whitesuper.png
Super! Ba-Bang! Ba-Bang! Ba-Bang! Ba-Bang! Babababang! Chou Zenkai!
  • Badass Cape: Zenkaizer's main form has a cape which evokes being a Homage to the Gorengers.
  • Body Horror: As he doesn't actually turn into a mecha, his combinations as Super Zenkaizer have elements of this.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Super Zenkaizer:
      • Super Zenkai Super Buster: Zenkaizer throws the Zenkaiten into the air; as it descends, he charges and fires a burst of energy from the Geartlinger at it, turning the Zenkaiten into a projectile that drills through the enemy.
      • Super Zenkai Kick: Zenkaizer throws the Zenkaiten into the air and jumps after it, performing a powerful kick on the Zenkaiten that launches it through the enemy.
  • The Gunslinger: In his default form, he uses the Geartlinger along with hand-to-hand combat, due to not having a personalized weapon like the rest of his team. That being said, he also often uses his Geartlinger as a melee weapon too.
  • Homage:
  • Spell My Name With An S: There was some initial debate over whether his name was spelt with an “s” or “z” (Zenkaiser/Zenkaizer). The TV-Asahi website confirms it as the latter.
  • Summon Magic: Gains the ability to summon copies of Rangers with common motifs from Episode 31, courtesy of the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon.
  • Super Mode: His “Super Zenkaizer” form adds Dragon Caesar-themed armor to his normal form, granting him increased defense and attack power.
  • Transforming Mecha: While he's technically not a mecha himself, Super Zenkaizer form grants him the ability to transform into a flying drill vehicle.
  • This Is a Drill: As Super Zenkaizer, he wields the Zenkaitennote  Lance, a 2.8 meter long drill-headed spear which can fire its tip attached to a rope.
  • Hand Cannon: The Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon, which he reclaimed from Hakaizer in Episode 30.

    Juran/Zenkai Juran

Portrayed by: Shintarō Asanuma (voice), Katsuya Takagi (live), Yasuhiro Takeuchi (suit)

The oldest of the Kikainoids who thinks he’s a Cool Old Guy, but is actually more of a Grumpy Old Man. Despite this, he’s got a good heart and heroic sense of justice, as well as being pretty easy to get along with. He also really likes parties.

Tropes that apply to him in general

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zyuran.jpg
Dinosaur Power! Zenkai Juran!
Click here to see him as a human.
  • All There in the Manual: In an interview in Kamen Radiranger (a radio show officially recognized by Toei) with Shintarō Asanuma, he sees Juran as a 45 year old person.
  • Catchphrase:
    • He tends to say butchake (“For real, though…/frankly”)
    • He also commonly uses the word “maybe” in English.
    • He also says cho mate yo/“hold up” a lot, a contracted version of chotto mate yo/“wait a minute”.
  • Character Tics: Whenever the Geartlinger’s standby music starts playing, at least Once per Episode he’ll dance along to it.
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist: Both Sasuke and Juran are Red Rangers who are the seconds-in-command of the team rather than the leaders. Unlike Sasuke who is one of the younger members of the Kakurangers and still holds the main character spot, Juran is the the oldest member of his team and the first Red Ranger deuteragonist in the franchise.
  • Cool Old Guy: Subverted. He likes to think of himself this way, but he ends up being less of a Cool Old Guy and more of a Grumpy Old Man. He’s still relatively chill enough to get along with humans however… until the Tozitend arrive.
  • Cool Uncle: He’s revealed to be this to Magine, his neighbor in Kikaitopia.
  • *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": He is prone to this, due to his old age.
  • Cute Little Fangs: His Kikainoid form has a pair of small fangs protruding from his mouth.
  • Disco Dan: His dinosaur mohawk and mid-to-late 20th Century dance moves are meant to be visual indicators that as spry as he is, he is a generation removed from the rest of the team.
  • Gratuitous English: Tends to sprinkle his speech with random bits of English, most of it grammatically making sense within dialogue.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Downplayed. He’s the oldest of the team by a significant margin and can come as callous when he encounters something that he doesn’t particularly like. That said, he’s a kind soul above all else and puts his morals above his stubbornness.
  • Heroic Bystander: He defended a young boy from one of Barashitara’s invading forces despite being feared by humans earlier due to being a Kikainoid. This act of kindness is why Kaito recruited him to be a Zenkaiger.
  • Homage: His base form’s armor evokes Yamato Tribe Prince Geki’s own red outfit.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Ironically, despite being a robotic being. Not only is he the first who required a quick tutorial for how to use the Geartlinger, he’s heavily hinted at being this given that he uses Buffy Speak for more technical terms such as the Combining Mecha sequence as well as always referring to Kaito’s smartphone as a “thing.”
Juran: Hey Kaito, your thing’s ringing.
  • The Lancer: He’s the first person to join the Zenkaigers, the acting second-in-command and the one who gives Kaito a pep talk whenever he’s feeling unsure of himself.
  • Meta Guy: Downplayed, as he occasionally is baffled by the wacky occurrences that would be taken for granted in any regular Sentai entry.
  • Nice Guy: Stubborn tendencies aside, it’s clear as day that he’s a kind person who’s just trying to do his best in a new world. He’s able to get along with people incredibly well and even to give a pep-talk or two if someone needs it.
  • Only Sane Man: Zig-Zagged. He usually calls out the others for their ridiculousness, in spite of his own quirks. However, he does get involved with their antics when the time calls for it.
  • Red Is Heroic: While he’s not the main character or leader of the Zenkaigers, he’s certainly on the side of the good guys and is red-colored.
  • Spell My Name With An S: While he’s inspired by Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, the Combining Mecha sequence and official merchandise romanize his name as “Juran” instead of “Zyuran.” It's likely based off "Jurassic", given that his great-grandfather was named after the Japanese term for "Triassic".
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Gaon. The latter’s bigotry against Kikainoids, combined with the former’s Grumpy Old Man tendencies, lead them to argue and fight during most of their screentime together. However, it’s clear that they have enough respect and trust towards one another to willingly battle their enemies side-by-side, with little to no squabbling.
  • Vocal Evolution: Inverted. Magine’s childhood flashback has Juran speaking in a much lighter and less gruff voice due to it taking place several years in the past when he was a younger android.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?:
    • He has a fear of ghosts, as shown with the haunted house attraction in episode 3 as well as in episode 13 when Magine suggests the Recycled Great Walds were actually ghosts.
    • Episode 5 hints that he also has a fear of heights.
    • Episode 42 reveals he is very adverse to heat, even in cold weather, due to being overly-sensitive to it and prone to extreme sweating.

Babam, Babam, Babam, Babam, Babababang! Zenkai Juran!

    Gaon/Zenkai Gaon

Portrayed by: Yūki Kaji (voice), Hiroki Sasamori (live), Masato Tsutamune (suit)

An Animal Lover Kikainoid who is the Team Chef. He also considers humans to be animals and doesn’t get along with the Kikainoids, as such he acts like a Jerkass to other mechanical lifeforms. Because of his love for animals, he joins the fight against the Tozitend to protect them.

Tropes that apply to him in general

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gaon_1.jpg
Hundred-Beasts Power! Zenkai Gaon!
Click here to see him as a human.
  • Afraid of Needles: A variant. Episode 23 has him constantly yelling in pain from the doctor’s treatment of his wounds from the previous episode.
  • Animal Lover: He absolutely loves animals of all kinds, ranging from cats to humans. In contrast, he absolutely loathes robots and Kikanoids, as Juran and Kaito find out. That being said, Ironically due to his appearance animals tend to avoid and run away from him.
  • Berserk Button: Hurting animals. It’s what eventually pushed him into joining the Zenkaigers against the Tozitend, despite his irks over having other Kikainoids on the team.
  • Boomerang Bigot: He is extremely disdainful towards his own kind, due to them — according to him — not being as cute and cuddly as the soft Earth-based creatures. He would do whatever it takes to ignore or avoid having to interact with other Kikainoids and robots as much as possible, even tossing Setchan aside despite the latter being modeled after a bird. This later gets turned into a bad case of positive discrimination in Episode 7, where he decides to protect new villain Stacy and his fake Sentai Rangers simply because they look like humans, even injuring his fellow Kikainoid Rangers in the process. Juran chews him out for it.
  • Catchphrase: He refers to organic life with the honorific “-chuwan,” a cutesier version of the honorific “-chan.”
  • Character Development: He admits to himself in Episode 22 that he’s warmed up to his team, appreciating them for caring for him despite his bigotry. This culminates in him performing a Heroic Sacrifice to distract them long enough for Kaito to summon the Zenkaijū Gear.
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist:
    • Like Tametomo, Gaon is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. Unlike Tametomo, who specializes in being The Gunslinger and The Strategist of his team, Gaon is a wild close-range combatant. Also, while Tametomo took a time to really get close to The Leader - Jūru - of his team, Gaon quickly becomes friends with Kaito while being cold and jerkish to the other members of his team.
    • Both Leo and Gaon are Yellow Rangers modeled after lions. While Gaon is bigoted towards other Kikainoids, Leo holds no such prejudice towards his fellow Zyumans.
    • Luka Millfy, a Cool Big Sis who wasn’t from Earth, was obsessed with money to the point of having a Money Fetish. Gaon is a Boomerang Bigot who also isn’t from Earth but was forcibly migrated there, is obsessed with cute and cuddly things to the point of having a Cuteness Proximity.
  • Cuteness Proximity: As soon as he’s near some type of animal, he will instantly start fawning over them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He can be seen in the scene where the Kikainoids are transported to Earth, a full episode before he properly debuts.
  • Friendless Background: His Dark and Troubled Past flashback hints that he was all alone back in Kikaitopia, feeling frustrated over his apparent loneliness as he watched other Kikainoids hang out with their friends.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Except for Kaito, Gaon is an unapologetic jerk to the other Zenkaigers for being Kikainoids. Why he hasn’t been kicked off the team is anyone’s guess. Episode 22 finally has Juran rightfully call him out on his bigotry.
  • Homage: His animal-themed jacket as a Kikainoid is reminiscent of the Gaorangers’ uniforms (his dogtags also specifically allude to the ones Gaku Washio wears), while his dreadlock-like cables are reminiscent of Leo’s hairstyle.
  • Jerkass to One: Or in this case, to a race over the other. He acts like a complete bigot towards his own kind, while being the complete opposite to Earth creatures.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He acts like an utter jerk to his fellow Kikanoids (and any robots by extension), but he does a complete 180 when he’s around humans and animals.
  • Large Ham: Whenever he gets wrapped up in something, he will quickly turn on the ham factor to really emphasize it, such as when he’s around animals or cooking.
  • Martyr Without a Cause: He reveals to Kaito in episode 7 that his severely reckless fighting style was due to hating himself for being a Kikainoid as well.
  • Only Friend: Kaito (and Yatsude by extension) is this to him, to the point that he would always call out to him for almost any situation, repeating his name almost to Verbal Tic levels.
  • Team Chef: He’s incredibly skilled at cooking, making sure that the Goshikidas’ tastes are fulfilled first before anybody else’s.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He’s the only one who has this towards the other Kikainoids in the team, much to his chagrin.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Juran. The latter’s Grumpy Old Man tendencies, combined with the former’s prejudice against Kikainoids, lead them to argue and fight during most of their screentime together. However, it’s clear that they have enough respect and trust towards one another to willingly battle their enemies side-by-side, with little to no squabbling.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Subjected to a brutal one from Juran in Episode 22 when it’s believed that the Zenkaijū Gear not coming to the battlefield was because of Gaon shooing it away.

Babam, Babam, Babam, Babam, Babababang! Zenkai Gaon!

    Magine/Zenkai Magine

Portrayed by: Yume Miyamoto (voice), Sachika Nitta (live), Ayumi Shimozono (suit)
Young Magine Portrayed by: Minon Hatoma (voice)

The only girl (well, female mechanical lifeform) of the team. She claims herself to be introverted but in reality, she’s a brazen fantasy Otaku who doesn’t like cleaning at all. She’s particularly fond of fortune-telling.

Tropes that apply to her in general

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/magin.jpg
Magic Power! Zenkai Magine!
Click here to see her as a human.
  • Action Girl: She may be a mechanical lifeform, but she is still a female Sentai ranger who fights the Big Bad and saves lives so she definitely fits the bill.
  • Ass Kicks You:
    • In No. 7-kai! The Demon Prince has a Short Fuse-kai!, as Magine apologizes to Mr. Su over Juran and Gaon's bickering, she accidentally butt-checks Vroon, who was right behind her, as she bows.
    • Super Hero Senki has her performing a butt attack on the Golem Megid after Kaito activates the Akibaranger gear.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Getting mocked. It triggers a brash side of hers she usually tries to keep hidden behind her Shrinking Violet persona. Gaon found out the hard way when mocking her fortune-telling, and Zenkai Red gets it from mocking the Kikainoids for taking the humans’ job of protecting their own kind.
Magine: WHAAAAAAT!? How dare you mock someone for something you don’t even understand anything about!!
    • Another one shown is ruining her plans, usually as a result of a Wald’s machinations. This includes getting rid of nighttime (as apparently its power is required for divination) or even worse, forcing her to abandon her plans with her friends for no good reason.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: She’s a fairly shy girl, but don’t push her too far or she will absolutely crush you no matter what. A lot of her enemies learn this the hard way.
  • Catchphrase: She often describes large-scale objects or subjects with “Hachamecha”note .
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character:
  • Fortune Teller: Often uses her Crystal Ball to conjure up images that will lead to her target.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She’s shy and girly on the surface, but is actually rather messy and unkempt. When pissed off, she will go on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge and boss people around until she is satisfied.
  • Homage: Her Kikainoid form meanwhile has Sailor Fuku elements, reminiscent of Hōka Ozu’s civilian uniform.
  • Shrinking Violet: She’s a shy person outside of combat, getting nervous quite easily. She’s shown stuttering her way through a surprise interview during the first episode before she joins the team proper.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only female member of the team.
  • Spell My Name With An S: While her Meaningful Name is based on the word Majin/“Mage”, her name is spelt/pronounced as “Magine/Majīnu,” to make it more feminine-sounding.
  • Trash of the Titans: She has a bad habit of not cleaning up after herself, often claiming she intends to but ends up getting too involved with her activities that she fails to do so and leaves large piles of trash lying around. Though due to her klutzy nature, it is shown that even if she does try it only makes matters From Bad to Worse. This does however Ironically make her superb at finding things (and people) lost in large piles of trash. Somewhat foreshadowed in the Zenkai Red special where she eats a bunch of candy and flings it onto the floor of the café without any regards for cleaning it up.
  • Verbal Tic:
    • She ends her sentences with three “nu”snote  when she’s having a nervous bout. When she’s spell-casting, she evokes it with a “Nununu Magine!”
    • She uses the copula “ssu/su,” a shortened version of the polite copula “desu.”
  • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: Magine is a nice girl all around… until her Berserk Button is pushed too far. Her nice side will then proceed to be fully flung out the window as she can and will crush you with anything that she’s got, even going as far as to wickedly laugh when her plans have succeeded. In fact, she’s so creepy, even her teammates are terrified of her!

Tropes exclusive to her as Zenkai Magine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenkai_pink_1.png
Babam, Babam, Babam, Babam, Babababang! Zenkai Magine!
  • Homage:
  • Magic Knight: Downplayed. While she can hold her own in combat, she resorts to strategically using her magic to distract and defend against opponents most of the time.
  • Magic Staff: Her weapon topped with a Crystal Ball, which becomes her tail when she transforms into Magine Dragon.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: When transformed into Zenkai Magine, she grows a few locks of gold hair-like protrusions that poke out from her “helmet.”
  • Weredragon: Can transform into Magine Dragon.

    Vroon/Zenkai Vroon

Portrayed by: Takuya Sato (voice), Noriyuki Ohashi (live), Kazuya Okada (suit)

A Constantly Curious Kikainoid who's also a Neat Freak because of his previous profession of a garbageman. He initially served the Tozitend as their janitor before he became a Zenkaiger after becoming fed up with Ijirude’s treatment of him.

Tropes that apply to him in general

Rumbling Power! Zenkai Vroon!
Click here to see him as a human.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: His Constantly Curious nature leads him to have an attention span of a goldfish, especially when he's particularly interested in something. Unsurprisingly, this pisses the others (sans Kaito) off to the point where Gaon has to take off his glasses in order for him to focus.
  • Badass Bookworm: He’s the most knowledgeable among the team but is also the most physically strongest among them (not that he knows how to control his strength). His Zenkaiger form also grants him a physical strength-oriented powerset.
  • Berserk Button: Due to being a Neat Freak, leaving trash and making things dirty (intentionally or not) really grinds his gears.
  • Blind Without Them: Despite his robotic nature, episode 4 confirms that he really does need glasses to see properly - his eyes even squinting when he's without them.
  • Blue Means Smart One: He's a blue-colored Kikainoid whose endless curiosity is as likely to get the Zenkaigers in trouble as it is to save the day.
  • Butt-Monkey: Keeping with the theme of Blue Rangers suffering a lot of misfortune, much of the show’s physical comedy gets directed at him. It was less comedic while he was the Tozitend’s janitor, but after joining the Zenkaigers, he gets such moments as having his glasses stolen from time to time, getting shot up by Gaon when under the influence of Onigokko Wald, getting buried in metal and forgotten about when Jishaku Wald attacks, and used as a Meat Shield by Twokaizer against Kabutomushi Wald. And during the Crossover with Kamen Rider Saber, he's the only active member of the team (Magine was kidnapped at the time) who doesn’t get to use a Rider Gear. He's understandably miffed about the last point.
  • Catchphrase:
    • “It’s making my curiosity engine go vroom-vroom!”note
    • He also often asks others “Please tell me!” in order to satisfy his curiosity.
  • Constantly Curious: He often wonders about why things work the way that they do, leading to him asking tons of questions and running off into places unrelated to the subject at hand. On the flip side, his curious nature allows him to gain some valuable knowledge for the team, such as in episode 4; relaying how the Tojiru Gears work and why the Kikanoids are stuck on the Goshikidas’ world, among others.
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist:
    • Unlike Shiguru Oshikiri before him, who was a famous actor and initially concealed his more dorky traits beneath a mask of cool aloofness, Vroon is a humble janitor and wears his dorkiness completely on his sleeve.
    • Sela was logical and analytical, who more often than not acted serious and solemn. While trying to act just as stern and mature, Vroon’s status as a klutz and his highly curious personality undermines his ability to be taken as seriously as Sela.
    • Like Joe Gibken, Vroon used to work for the villains of their respective series (Joe as an Zangyack soldier and Vroon as a lowly janitor) before joining their Sentai team, with Joe being the first to be recruited to the core Gokaigers and Vroon being the last to join the core Zenkaigers. However, Vroon is Constantly Curious and often tripping over himself, which greatly contrasts the brooding and The Comically Serious Joe.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": It’s implied that he’s been referred to as just “cleaner bot” by the Tozitend for so long that it took a while for him to recall his actual name.
  • Fish out of Water: It’s implied he hadn’t stepped out of the Tozitend palace for a very long time, including the entire first month since Kikaitopia and Earth fused, to the point of even being unaware of said event until he overhears his superiors discussing it. It only worsens his Constantly Curious nature when he finally steps out and discovers the human world for the first time.
  • Homage: His Kikainoid form’s body being vertically half-blue with a vertical zipper-like design on his chest is reminiscent of Sōta Mogami’s uniform.
  • The Klutz: Downplayed. Because of his size and bulky figure, he ends up tripping on himself quite a bit as witnessed in the opening and the Eye Catch, but he’s still plenty limber enough to keep up with the rest of the team.
  • Neat Freak: He’s obsessed with order and cleanliness, which makes sense considering that he was a garbageman and janitor back in Kikaitopia before joining up with the Zenkaigers.
  • No-Respect Guy: While working as Tozitend’s janitor, Vroon constantly gets shot by the Tozitend executives whenever he happens to question their activities. It’s anyone’s wonder as to how he gets better by the next episode.
  • Oblivious to Love: Heavily hinted at in episode 18, where Vroon mentions it’s “a topic (he’s) yet to study.” It gets Played for Drama later on as Ren’ai Wald’s Power of Love causes him to start a relationship with a human girl named Karen, which eventually ends up in a heartbreak over a misunderstanding. After the Wald’s powers are dissipated however his heart still remains stinging, heavily implying that his feelings towards her were actually genuine.
  • The Smart Guy: Acts as the studious member of the team, as well as the fact that he has glasses on.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: A curious Kikainoid who wears glasses in civilian form.
  • Token Good Teammate: To the Tozitend at first, being the only morally centered figure in a room full of bad guys.
  • Verbal Tic: He often exclaims “Yayah!”note  when taken aback, sometimes extending to “Iya-iya-iya!”note  or “Yayayaya” depending on the situation.

Tropes exclusive to him as Zenkai Vroon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenkai_blue.png
Babam, Babam, Babam, Babam, Babababang! Zenkai Vroon!
  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: While four of our heroes are Kikainoids, Vroon is the only one seen spamming this ability in combat.
  • Detachment Combat: As Zenkai Vroon he’s capable of this, as seen in his debut battle where his upper torso detaches and flies in order to avoid an attack.
  • Homage: His ranger form is based on DaiBouken, and by proxy, GoGo Dump.
  • Powerful Pick: Wields a pickaxe called the “Vroon Picker.”
  • Token Robot: An alternate mode variant, where he is the only Kikainoid whose Ranger form transforms into a vehicle (a dump truck at that) instead of a creature.

Additional Members

    Zocks Goldtsuiker/Twokaizer

Portrayed by: Atsuki Mashiko (live), Shigeki Ito (suit)

The eldest son and leader in the latest generation of the Goldtsuikers, a family of “World Pirates” (Sekai Kaizoku/世界海賊, or Kaizoku/界賊/“World Plunderer” for short) from the parallel world of Kaizokutopia. He is after the SD Tojiru Gear/SDtopia in the hopes of curing his brothers of their Super-Deformation.

Tropes that apply to him in general

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zox_3.jpeg
The Pirate Power! Twokaizer!
  • Aloof Ally: Despite eventually getting along with the Zenkaigers, he never acknowledges himself as part of their team. He usually does a seperate roll-call for himself, and his family by extension occasionally, and announces them as his own unit.
  • Anti-Hero: Much like the Gokaigers (except for Gai), he and his family work purely for their own goal of freeing SDtopia to find a cure for Cutanner and Ricky, rather than anything altruistic. This is explicitly shown in episode 10 where he hunts down the Wald with no regard for any civilians caught in the crossfire.
  • Berserk Button: Messing with his siblings in any shape or form is a guaranteed way to get on his bad side, subjecting one to quite the Curb-Stomp Battle if he’s up to it. And as #38 shows, not even being a relative will save you.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He’s an incredibly flamboyant individual, performing flashy dances as he transforms and being partial to the odd song or two. But make no mistake, he’s still a pirate, and a ruthless one at that, who’s more than willing to fight dirty to win.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He very clearly cares about his siblings, and will stop at nothing to save them if it means keeping them safe.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While he acts like a genial jokester out of combat, it’s quickly revealed that he’s more or less a brutal, pragmatic combatant that doesn’t really care who’s in his way so long as he gets to his target.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: As a native of Kaizokutopia, Zocks and by extension the rest of the Goldtsuiker family all operate on traditional pirate logic, which regularly brings him into conflict with the other Zenkaigers. Downplayed in that he seems to perfectly understand conventional morality, but just doesn’t seem to care for it.
  • Brother–Sister Team: With Flint, his younger sister, as well as Cutanner and Ricky, his two younger brothers.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Even with the Geardalinger disabled in #44, he's still no slouch in a fight.
  • Catchphrase:
    • “Tsūkai ni iku ze!”note  when entering a fight.
    • After winning a fight, he says “Shōri tsūkai! Yohohōi!”note
    • Like Kaito, he frequently refers to things as “x tsūkai,” or “thrilling x.” He also refers to actions as being done thrillingly.
  • Character Development: He acts less aloof towards the team, becoming more willing to cooperate with them without much compensation in return. #36 shows that while he's not willing to admit it, he does regard the team as his friends.
  • Character Tic: He kisses his Sentai Gear before transforming into Twokaizer. While transformed as Twokaizer, he double-taps on his Sentai Gears instead.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He may look playful, but he’s also an incredibly dirty fighter who will resort to anything to win, especially when he’s provoked.
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist:
    • Like Takamichi Crystalia before him, Zocks is a member of a prominent family with a younger sister. Both also seek out their respective MacGuffins (the Kanaema Stones and the SD Tojiru Gear) in order to free their loved ones from a curse (Numajo’s/SDtopia’s), but while Takamichi was mindful not to involve innocents, Zocks has no such scruples. Unlike Takamichi and Mabushīna, who were estranged (initially), Zocks gets along fine with Flint. Personality-wise, Takamichi was a Nice Guy with a positive attitude, while Zocks is sassy and cunning.
    • Both Misao Mondō and Zocks are the second human members of their respective teams. Misao started off as a Brainwashed and Crazy villain who became a Ranger after getting kidnapped by the Big Bad of his series, while Zocks started off as an Anti-Hero who became a Ranger after he obtained his own equipment. And unlike Misao, who was a Shrinking Violet that easily got depressed, Zocks is outgoing, theatrical, and constantly on the move.
    • Gai Ikari, the Silver Ranger and sole Earthling of the group, was a Sentai fanboy and a happy-go-lucky individual. Zocks is the Gold Ranger and from another world, as well as a slick and clever individual with an agenda of his own, though he’s also a fanboy of the Gokaigers themselves.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Zocks introduces himself to the audience by singing and dancing to his own sea shanty.
    Yohohoy, yohohoy, yohohoyhoy~
    Geardalinger: “HEY!”
I am a Kaizoku, searching for treasure from sea to seanote
I am a Kaizoku, searching for freedom from world to world
    I’ll definitely obtain them
    Then I’ll feel thrilled

    [spoken] Yohohoi!Original Japanese
  • Fan Boy:
    • The reason why his Twokaizer form is modeled after the Gokaigers is because he and his sister apparently saw them on the Kaizoku Sentai World and thought they were cool.
    • He also really likes manga, to the point of stealing Mangatopia's manga creations just to read it.
  • Fish out of Water: Having lived his whole life in Kaizokutopia, he doesn’t understand nor follow the customs and common sense of this world, first shown with him outright plundering Colorful for all of their food rather than buying them. This is inherently justified as the Goldtsuikers are pirates, leading to them just stealing stuff outright rather than go the moral route. This gets put in a much darker light in episode 10, where it’s revealed that he doesn’t really care about the Zenkaigers’ world; he’s just on it to take out the Tozitend one by one to get what he wants.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Due to his greedy and snobbish personality as a pirate all the Zenkaigers except Kaito and Gaon aren’t fond of getting along with him but they all are willing to work with him.
  • Hidden Depths: It’s implied by Cutanner and Ricky’s Casual Danger Dialogue that he homeschools them.
  • Human Alien: He looks human but is not from this Earth, instead hailing from the pirate world Kaizokutopia.
  • Incoming Ham: Likes to announce his arrival by singing his sea shanty.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite playing dirty as a pirate and his self-centered motivations, he does honor his promises and acknowledges his losses when they happen.
  • Planet of Hats: Hails from the world of Kaizokutopia, where everyone is a pirate. (The other Zenkaigers are baffled as to how that would work.)
  • Punny Name:
    • "Zocks" is written as zokkusu, which has zoku, which in turn is taken from kaizoku or “pirate.”
    • For added punning, his title of “World Plunderer” is also read as kaizoku, but instead having the kanji for “world” (界) replace that of “sea” (海)note .
    • His last name, Goldtsuiker, is phonetically similar to “gold tsuika”, which literally means “gold additional” (tsuika senshi, “additional warrior,” is the typical Japanese term for the Sixth Ranger)
  • Sixth Ranger: He’s the most recent addition to the team starting from episode 8, but his interests are aligned to himself for now. Even when he does work with the Zenkaigers, he makes it out to be more of a competition between his family and the team rather than them actually working in tandem.
  • Skewed Priorities: Whenever he "feels the rhythm", Zocks insists on doing his transformation dances in full for his form changes, even during moments when Transformation Is a Free Action is subverted.
  • Spell My Name With An S:
    • His last name was originally thought to be romanized as “Goldtweaker.” A Gokaiger-esque "Wanted!" Poster in the TV-kun magazine initially revealed the spelling to be “Gorldtsuikar,” but the TV-Asahi site later spelt it as “Goldtsuiker.”
    • His first name has likewise been debated between “Zox” and “Zocks.” An official poster later confirmed it to be the latter spelling.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed, as it is a Sentai after all. While he may fight against the Tozitend, his motivations are purely selfish, though not without good reason (as he wants to find the Tojiru Gear that houses SDTopia so he can undo what happened to his brothers there). As such, he really doesn’t care about collateral damage or protecting the people of Earth - he will get to his goal, the world be damned. However, he is shown to be deeply caring for his family and willing to keep his word, which allows him to work with the Zenkaigers despite being an Aloof Ally.
  • The Unfettered: He will do anything at all costs to achieve his goals, which brings him into conflict with the Zenkaigers.
  • Verbal Tic: He tends to pepper his sentences with “Yohohoy!”
  • The Worf Effect: Played for laughs. After his introductory arc is finished from episode 15 onwards, he typically gets inconvenienced by the Walds’ powers in sundry and silly ways, from having his Geardalinger degraded into an ordinary wheel, to falling in love with a Kikainoid and ignoring the battlefield.
Zocks: Why am I getting so few chances to show off?
  • Worthless Yellow Rocks: While he does accept a free copy of Touma Kamiyama’s Lost Memory during a crossover episode, he doesn’t think much of the novel despite the fact that it’s a one-of-a-kind artistic work outside of Touma’s universe.

Tropes exclusive to to him as Twokaizer

Equipment Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki

Yōsorō! Twokai ni Revolution!note
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenkai_goldsuper.png
Yōsorō! Chou! Twokai Ni Revolution!note
  • Animal Motifs: His mech CrocoDaiOh is based on a crocodile, and the motif translates to Twokaizer’s design in the jagged, tooth-like patterns on his shoulders, cuffs and undersuit — fitting for Zocks’s mercenary, unscrupulous personality.
  • Badass Cape: Gains a gold-colored one in Super Twokaizer form.
  • Bishōnen Line: Inverted when he turns into Super Twokaizer SD, thanks to a design flaw in his Zenkaijū Gear.
  • Dance Battler: His musically themed Geardalinger has him dancing to its music to change forms, while tapping it to its beats. When Mahiru Wald tries to attack him
    • His default Twokaizer form has him dancing to a sea shanty. The Geardalinger goes “HEY!” with each tap.
    • Ohren Form has him dancing to Egyptian music. The Geardalinger goes “Olé!” with each tap.
    • Shinken Form has him dancing to a Japanese ondō, using his right hand as a makeshift “sword” for the dance. The Geardalinger goes “Sore!” with each tap.
    • His Super Form has him breakdancing to techno music. The Geardalinger goes “Sei!” with each tap.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Base Form: Gold Scrambler
    • Ohren Form: Chouriki Star Knuckle: Twokaizer creates a portal in front of him and punches through it, causing a gigantic version of Twokaizer's fist to come through another portal above the enemy and crush them.
    • Shinken Form: Shinken Strike: Twokaizer conjures a fiery image of the Rekka Daizanto before unleashing a powerful slash.
    • Super Twokaizer: Rex Refreezer
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: He is the team’s Gold Ranger, and is able to defeat Stacy without breaking a sweat.
  • Homage:
  • Instrumental Weapon: Besides the obvious, the Geardalinger also functions as a tambourine to accompany Zocks’s sea shanties.
  • Leitmotif: All three of his forms utilize three distinct themes when he’s in battle.
    • Twokaizer’s default form is accompanied by brassy rock, representative of his confident, flashy fighting style.
    • Ohren Form is accompanied by triumphant hard rock mixed with synths, representative of the form’s Hot-Blooded Bare-Fisted Monk fighting style.
    • Shinken Form is accompanied by rock mixed in with shamisen, representative of the form’s levelheaded samurai motif.
  • Loophole Abuse: He can only use the powers of Sentai teams with additional members, which means that if a member of a team was added or replaced by another person, then their respective Sentai’s power is fair game. That includes any temporary members, such as Kousoku Sentai Turboranger, which had Yōhei Hama/Blue Turbo be replaced by fellow student Ken’ichi Yamada for a single episode.
  • Multiform Balance: His different forms utilize this in addition to the use of the Geardalinger:
  • Playing with Fire: In Shinken Form.
  • Punny Name:
    • “Twokaizer” is based on the word tsukai (使い), which can mean “user,” “envoy,” “familiar,” etc. In a sense he’s an envoy who uses his familiar-like partners to access different forms. It is also a pun of the word tsūkai (痛快), which means “thrilling,” as opposed to the Gokaigers’ gōkai (豪快), which means “dynamic.”
    • Being spelt “Twokaizer” in English represents that he’s the second “kaiser” in the team, after Kaito/Zenkaizer.
    • The name of his battleship, CrocoDaiOh, is a play on “crocodile.”
  • Split Personality: Upon switching forms, Twokaizer’s personality changes to Hot-Blooded while in Ohren Form and The Stoic in Shinken Form.
  • Super Mode: His “Super Twokaizer” form adds V-Rex-themed armor to his normal form. In addition to being able to use the Geardalinger’s blade in this form as well as just shooting, he can move faster than his opponents can react thanks to manipulating time. In short, though it lacks the extra abilities and flash of Zenkaizer’s upgrade, it’s completely lethal in Zocks’s hands.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: His Geardalinger, which can switch between gun and sword modes.
  • Variant Power Copying: Unlike the other Zenkaigers, he specifically draws from the powers and abilities of previous Sixth Rangers, Eleventh Hour Rangers and other Extra Warriors when using Sentai Gears, rather than the core team. Though this rule also applies to core team members who have passed the torch to or were replaced by another character who can transform into the same color/designation.

    ZenkaiOh

ZenkaiOh JuraGaon Portrayed by: Yohei Fujita (suit)
ZenkaiOh VrooMagine Portrayed by: Shinsuke Kusano (suit)

An All-World Combination of two Kikainoid Zenkaigers, activated and piloted by Zenkaizer. Its main forms are JuraGaon and VrooMagine, with Zenkai Gaon and Zenkai Magine exclusively forming the right halves of combinations while Zenkai Juran and Zenkai Vroon form the left halves.
  • Barefisted Monk: VrooGaon form.
  • Energy Bow: It wields Zenkai Vroon’s Vroon Picker as a crossbow and uses it as such.
  • Finishing Move: JuraGaon has the Juran Sword Full Moon Crash, and VrooMagine has the Vroon Picker Accel Strike.
  • Flight: Forms with Magine are capable of this due to inheriting Magine Dragon’s wings.
  • One, Two, Three, Four, Go!: The standby loop for combinations involving Vroon is “1, 2, 3, 4, GO!” using Japanese numbers.
  • Super Mode:
    • Super ZenkaiOh Juran, a combination of Super Zenkaizer and Zenkai Juran.
    • It later gains a second All Your Powers Combined variant in Zenryoku ZenkaiOh, where all four Kikainoid Zenkaigers combine with the Zenryoku Eagle jet piloted by Zenkaizer.

    ZenkaijūOh

The All-World Combination of the huge Super Zenkaizer and Super Twokaizer SD.

    Zenryoku ZenkaiOh

Portrayed by: Yohei Fujita (motion capture)

The combination of the Kikainoid Zenkaigers and Zenryoku Eagle.
  • All Your Powers Combined: It's a formation that consists of every single Kikainoid Zenkaiger combining together.
  • Finishing Move: Zenkaiger All Sentai Final Big Bang, an attack that summons images of every single previous All Your Powers Combined Sentai mecha to fly at and strike the target down.
  • Lightning Bruiser: It's a very fast mecha, able to deftly dodge monster attacks and close the gap between it and the Kudacks in Kudaitests in no time flat. But it also packs a major punch, dishing out as much punishment as it can block.
