Subjects
Abby
A girl with no idea how she got here.
- Amnesiac Hero: All of the rebelling subjects, but specifically Abby, who lacks a folder and doesn't remember her own fear or her real name.
- Friend to All Living Things: Comforts 000 /Jenny when they meet again.
- The Leader: Initially.
- Nice Girl: She's very selfless (well, most of the time).
- Straight Girl: To just about everyone.
Lucas
A boy who woke up next to Abby. He has Panophobia, which is a fear of some unknown evil.
- Butt-Monkey: And how. Holy hell. He has a "deer in the headlights" appearance, is terrified of nearly everything in the facility (for good reason), an apparently unrequited crush on Abby, and snarky jerks who want him dead wiped his memory. Twice.
- Cowardly Sidekick: Unlike Abby, Lucas is constantly freaking out over the horrors of the facility, such as when he first encounters the turned subjects. Justified, as Lucas's fear is revealed to be panophobia, and Abby is put beside him in order to test if she's fearless.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Fans tended to hate him, but another tumblr user managed to turn the tide.
- Shrinking Violet: Contrasting Abby.
Iris
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has scopophobia; the fear of being stared at.
- Animal Motifs: Has been compared to a spider outside of canon here and here.
- Eyes Do Not Belong There
- Punny Name: Confirmed.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Possibly. A flashback shows her being timid and terrified.
Fraey
Currently the only main character that never speaks due to her deformation, keeping everything to herself. If she has anything to say, she will either do it nonverbally or (on the blog) write it down. She was first seen in the security room, and she is one Iris mostly verbally communicates with.
- More Teeth than the Osmond Family
- Sarashi: One of the few non-Japanese characters to have this.
- The Speechless: Cannot speak due to her massively deformed teeth. When answering asks on the official blog, she usually is seen writing something on a paper.
- Youkai: Resembles a Yama Uba.
Trevor
A sympathetic guy initially shut down by Iris due to his flirty nature.
- Door Slam of Rage: Gets a door slammed on his face by Iris while trying to flirt with her.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: Has three huge parasites living inside him
- I Call It "Vera": ...one of which he calls Trevor Junior (or "TJ" for short).
- Pungeon Master: Implied. Also, here.
- Friend to Bugs: Despite Trevor's fear being parasites, he gets along pretty well with the ones inhabiting his body. In fact, some of them voluntarily take the place of his vital organs after eating them, and without them, both the parasites and Trevor would die. Trevor is also shown to be capable of ordering his parasites to do things.
Gwen
A girl who can see shadows of the past wherever she goes. Has the (unfortunate) ability to fall asleep at random. When awake, though she is silent, Gwen demonstrates impressive competence. She has a blanket sewn on her shoulders by Unelma during her testing.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has somniphobia; the fear of falling asleep.
- Sleepyhead: Sadly, as she fears it.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: Her gift of viewing into the unrevealed past manifests itself when she wakes up, but she does not like admitting what she has seen.
- Waif Prophet
- The Quiet One
Jace
A boy capable of handling ice.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Most likely has (but not cannonically stated) frigophobia; the fear of the cold.
- And I Must Scream: The thing Gwen reveals about him:Gwen: Trapping you like that.Gwen: Giving you medicines so you couldn't pass out...Gwen: Forced to face it.Gwen: Over and over again.
- An Ice Person: Not so much in personality, but has some connection with ice.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Eye Take: Here.
- Ship Tease: With Gwen.
000 /Jenny
The mysterious subject that appeared to be assaulting Lucas and Abby.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has haemophobia; the fear of blood.
- Afraid of Blood
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes turn red when feeling threatened, which then leads to jumping on/attacking others.
- Hulk Speak: Sort of. Though she understands full English like the rest of the subjects, somewhere along the line of her testing she developed a more limited way of speaking.
005
A subject first found resting in Kidutus' basement.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has electrophobia; the fear of electricity.
- Abusive Parents: Their dad blamed them for the death of their mother, and abused them using all kinds of electricity. This is why they have their phobia in the first place
- Heroic Sacrifice
939
- Forgetful Jones: 939 Passes out after Raven introduces himself and his friends, then wakes up to completely forget them again.[939]: YOU'RE A BIRD?!! HOW[RAVEN]: oh no.[FLUFFY]: He must still be drugged.[FLUFFY]: We DID force him out of that sleep.
- No One Should Survive That!: 939 falls from a large enough height to require a safety net and does not die thanks to their abilities. Raven points this out when 939 denies they have any special abilities.
Raven
Fluffy
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has aerophobia; the fear of flying.
Hawk
Duck
Hummingbird
Kidutus Staff
- Non-Standard Character Design: They have red eyes and dark red text, full stop. They're also white instead of grey, like the subjects.
Koska
Veri
Dept. Head of Medicine.
An excitable member who turns out to be the Unelma
- Ax-Crazy
- Deadly Doctor
- I Know What You Fear: Demonstrated by Unelma, whose powers seem to involve manifesting the fears of subjects into shadowy illusions. Befitting for the Head of Testing.
- With My Hands Tied: Actually pulls this off a bit too well.
